In an attempt to rein you all in, here's an open thread for you to talk about recent celebrity deaths: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays. That way, if people want to ignore it they can. So try and keep it here, m'kay?

What others are saying

  • sick and tired
Here is the thing...and please dont get me wrong when i say this, but i dont give a half of a damn about celebrities that die. Again, dont get me wrong, it is a bummer and i sympathize with their families more than somewhat, but what makes them better than anyone else?? Last week, an 8 year old girl was shot in her chest by some random bullet that strayed from its original path, but she gets no memorial or even an investigation to try to find out what happened, but michael jacksons "3-D heart re-enactment" of what took place inside of his heart is all over the damn news...WTF? Farrah, Ed, MJ, David C. all of these people were entertaining, but why do they deserve a larger service, or more respect for that matter than anyone else?? they dont pay my rent, they dont pay your rent. So riddle me this...why should i give half of a damn about people who are portrayed as better than someone else?
  • I'm still pretty choked up about David Carradine.
  • Conspiracy theory
Hmmm...suppose Michael's death was 'planned' by some covert government group trying to take the focus off all this cap & trade crap. You still with me? Wow, I'm shocked. Ok then, perhaps his doctor was 'bought off' to make sure he passed away "at the most opportune time"? OR...maybe Mike offered himself as a "sacrifice" so that the 'greater good' could be acheived.

    Any takers?
  • You forgot Fred Travalena
He was a famous voice impersonator in the 70s and 80s. He passed on Sunday. The head count is now 5.
  • MJ
I just saw a blurb on the news with MJ's father Joe talking about custody of the kids, and sure as hell, Race Pimp Sharpton standing right next to him.
  • It comes in threes
McMahon, Fawcett and Jackson? Leave it to Billy Mays to throw an extra celeb death in for free.
  • Michael Jackson's kids...
When the Jackson family starts fighting over control of the kids (and the future "dead celebrity" millions that Michael's estate will earn), I'll bet they'll end up making Dr. King's kids look honorable and decent by comparison. (And I never thought I'd ever feel that way about ANYBODY.)
  • David Carradine
He died earlier this month; shouldn't he be on the list, too?
  • The Rael American Hero
I’m sorry, but this is the guy Congress should have had a moment of silence for instead of “MJ!”

    Kenneth L. Reusser | Marine aviator, 89
Retired Marine Corps Col. Kenneth L. Reusser, 89, a highly decorated aviator who was shot down in three wars, died June 20. He lived in the Portland, Ore., suburb of Milwaukie.
Col. Reusser flew 253 combat missions in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was shot down in all three, five times in all.
His 59 medals included two Navy Crosses, four Purple Hearts, and two Legions of Merit.
In 1945, while based in Okinawa, he stripped down his F4U-4 Corsair fighter and intercepted a Japanese observation plane at high altitude. When his guns froze, he flew his fighter into the observation plane, hacking off its tail with his propeller.
In 1950, he led an attack on a North Korean tank-repair facility at Inchon, then destroyed an oil tanker, almost blowing himself out of the sky.
In Vietnam, he flew helicopters and was leading a rescue mission when his Huey was shot down. He needed skin grafts over 35 percent of his badly burned body.
  • Pedophile
Why do we celebrate the greatness of a PEDOPHILE. If you settled out of court...you are guilty.
  • Couldn't Have Been Better Timing
Obama and Pelosi must have been jumping up and down with joy. Jackson's death couldn't have been timed any better than if Rahm Emmanuel had orchestrated it... (hmmmm, ya don't think he .... NAAWWWW!)

It dominated the news and was blasted on all channels as if it really made a hill of beans on anyone's live.

Meanwhile, Congress railroaded through the hideous "Cap and Trade" bill and other little socialist tid-bits that actually do have a large impact on all of us.
    We're screwed!
  • Heaven
Ed McMahon dies, goes to heaven and asks for a beautiful woman to be by his side. Farrah Fawcett appears and asks for all children on earth to be safe.

    No word yet from MJ.

Seriously, I had no idea Ed McMahon was such a war hero. Good for him, lucky for us!
  • justice
Seriously, who's in charge here and why is Madonna still permitted to walk this earth?
  • Billy May
I am sad that he died, but I thought he was rather annoying. His voice was always too darn loud. Everytime I heard his voice, I thought of something Neal had written/said, "the louder the commercial, the dumber the target audience."
  • beutifully said....................................
    Haile Tsada.

I am going to have my lawyer contact your lawyer............and sue your ass off!

wound up in the 'mergency room, had to have 'mergency surgery............to sew my ass back on!!!!!!!

    thank a lot!
  • hell/heaven hotline
the devil was trying to improve the image of hell so he calls heaven.......

st. peter answers and ol'evil says to pete I wanna talk to god.

pete says he's playing golf with tiger. don't care need to talk to 'em. ok says pete.

  • Foul play is suspected...
...in the death of Billy Mays. It appears that when he was found, his face was covered with a ShamWow.
  • Johnny Carson Show
Apparently The Heavenly Johnny Carson Show now has a full roster complete with commercial. Laughter and entertainment abounds in Heaven.
  • Don't forget...
Don't forget to add Fred Travalena to that list!
  • The Real Billy Mays
I've never seen his commercials, my first exposure to him ever was this clip of outtakes (Has a word the FCC won't let Neal say):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrnVNZpnvRI
  • New Product
"Billy Mayes here, with an exiciting new product; the Airplane Helmet!! It's light, convenient, and strong! It will protect you from falling objects on your next airplane flight! Only $19.95......"
  • Coincidence
I'm sure the majority of Americans would have found some other pretty rock to look at while the climate change bill was passed but just to be on the safe side a handful of celebrities dying along with some government scandal cinched up the sheeple's attention span more than enough to keep any but a few folks aware of the tax hell storm we're all in for soon.
  • Michael Jackson
I will always think of Michael Jackson when I see a grocery sack. White, plastic, and a risk for children.
  • Dont forget Sky Saxon
He was the lead singer for the garage rock group "The Seeds"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhPvkzFJhnk
  • Enough already
Kept my TV tuned to HGTV most of the weekend. Every once in awhile I would click to one of the news channels to see if they were covering any real news only to find that it was an exercise in futility.
  • Moonwalking bird
i laugh every time i watch this.

    http://www.wimp.com/birdmoonwalks/
  • Pissed it away
Maybe we can now stop crucifying Rush over his pills. Jacko the Whacko had apparently the same problems... Imagine yourself as the "King of Pop" and making a fortune just to piss it away. Suddenly all the Jacksons are coming out of the woodwork. Where the heck were they when the Nation of Islam goons were "handling" brother Michael? What a family. I feel sorry for the kids during the upcoming custody battles and associated rights to the unreleased songs. To be pissed away as well I am sure.
  • Any good video jockeys?
I think somebody good at video editing should do a mashup of the four videos featured here.
  • Don't Forget Fred Travelena!
I loved watching Fred Travelena on the Tonight show....he was a great impressionist.
  • Who is Next?
    Walter Cronkite is next.
  • Ed McMahon - USMC WWII/Korea veteran and combat pilot
Neal - you of all people should know and remember that Ed McMahon distinguished himself in service with the USMC and the California ANG:

During World War II, McMahon was a fighter pilot in the United States Marine Corps serving as a flight instructor and test pilot. He was a decorated pilot (six Air Medals) and was discharged in 1946, remaining in the reserves.[5]

After college, McMahon returned to active duty. He was sent to Korea in February 1952. He flew unarmed OE-1 Bird Dogs on 85 tactical air control and artillery spotting missions. He remained in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.
  • R.I.P.
    May they all R.I.P.

Now let's work on getting our Country back!!!
  • Not to sound unfeeling
Like they say, there's only two sure things in life. Death and taxes.
At the least, those four won't have to see America destroyed along with those passing to the beyond between now and D-Day.
You think the media might say something about that?

    Nah.
  • Hearing about Billy May's death struck a chord closest to sadness. More so than MJ or FF; both of whom are meh.
  • When did this happen?
    Is Michael Jackson really dead?

I hadn't heard it on the news. You would think they would mention it at least once or twice over the weekend.

In other news, the economically disastrous energy bill (the dunce cap and trade bill as NR refers to it) passed the house with barely a mention by the MSM, and no mention of how it will be a huge drag on the economy.

    Oh, look -- a squirrel...
  • in all honesty...
I'm more upset about Billy Mays than the others (especially MJ). He contributed something. He helped make money for other people and make inventor's dreams come true (all while making a hefty profit on top of that, mind you.)

And unlike jacko he didn't rape children.
  • Comment
"Rome burns while Nero fiddles" should be changed to "America falls while Americans fiddle".
  • MJ
i just can't quit crying over Michael Jackson. poor white boy. ooohh oooohhh
  • Life expectancy takes a drop under Obama
    Billy Mays dead at 50
    Michael Jackson dead at 50

But seriously, just wait until Obamacare becomes a reality.
  • Dead Celebrities
I also heard last night that Gail Storm passed on Saturday.
  • Thank you!
For putting it all in one place.

Thriller and Beat It were two of my fav all time videos, mostly because I have always been a dancing fanatic! Good for the lets ya know.

But I am SOOOOO tired of hearing about MJ.

Farrah was a kind soul, lots of charities. Women all across the world are running to their doctors to get checked out, she would be pleased that her death may help someone else.

    Ed McMahon, class act.

Billy Mays, what a shock! Just saw a special on him and his family, he was a very interesting person.

Ok, that's over, back to important stuff.
