We've been talking about this local story quite a bit this morning, so here's a place for you to discuss it. An Atlanta woman accused a man of kidnapping her, taking her to the Smokey Mountains, and raping her. A pizza delivery guy saw her tied up on the couch and called the police. Now it turns out that she has pled guilty to filing false reports in the past.

What others are saying

  • Woman who makes false accusations hurt everyone.
This is sad for several reasons. This guy’s life is ruined because she is lying. He will always be looked upon as that guy. People will never trust her. People will not want to work with her because they do not know what type of lies she may spread about them. This hurts society in general too. Now men do not want to associate with woman at the work place and when something really does happen – everyone will question the women’s integrity. Then you have our Society that throws the guys under the bus.

I had an incident where a female coworker accused me of harassment and stocking. Hr did an investigation and found the accusations to be a total lie. The reason she did it was to protect her job because I had written her up for poor performance and mischarging. Plus HR told me that she has some mental issues. Now you know how HR resolved the issue. They tried to MOVE ME out of my job. I fought back and won after 6 months but she still sits 4 cubes down and DOES NOTHING all day. It is very sad. The point is when people lie about serious accusations it hurts, themselves, the person they are lying about, their families, the people they work with and society in general.

No one will gain from this.
  • False Rape Accusations A Crime
It is time to make false rape accusations a Class A Felony rather than making a false police report.
  • her suitcase
    bet it was there.

  • False
but it does sound exciting and romantic.....
  • false rapist
she's gone two days and no one reports her missing? She probably told her husband she was going away with the girls; however, if she did, the accused's only corroborator is his love muffin's husband. LOL

There are two types of crazy - funny and scary. This is one of the scary ones!

Of all people, I hope the DA learned a lesson from that POS DA at Duke that ended up disbarred and broke for seeking a conviction rather than justice.
  • Pizza Guy
Maybe he was supposed to join in.
  • That Guy...
I know the alleged perpetrator. Not as a friend or even as a close associate, but I know him via his job...and no, I'm not going to say what company he works for.

He is not a stupid person. My experiences with the guy suggest that he is HIGHLY intelligent and a very meticulous planner. I'd seriously doubt that a mid-morning kidnapping of a jogger would be his idea of a good idea. Second, leaving her almost in plain view of the pizza guy is moronic. This guy is anything but stupid. You rent a car AHEAD OF TIME, then rent a cabin AHEAD OF TIME, then order pizza with her on the couch and leave her in plain sight? Didn't sound right. Plausible, but didn't fit the mold.

That said, I'm always had doubts about his morality and his faithfulness to his wife. I've noticed he had a wandering eye. Getting caught with another woman doesn't suprise me...getting accussed of rape in the process does.

Phyiscally, he is overweight, NOT muscular, and is a heavy smoker. Someone who jogs on a regular basis or is otherwise in decent to good shape could easily escape this guy...especially in broad daylight. Unless you're James Bond, you need at least one hand to tie someone up with predeployed ropes. Plenty of time to struggle and call for help. Plus, he's almost blind without his glasses.

While I was NOT shocked by the news that he had cheated on his wife, the circumstances almost immediately seemed a bit questionable. The additional info on the victim seems to support that idea.

I'm not saying I think he did or didn't do what he is alledged to have done, but I'd say before today's revelations, it was 60%-40% he did. Today, I'm thinking more 60%-40% that he didn't.

There's more to this story. It'll be interesting to watch and see what shakes out.
  • Why was she not reported missing?
Women don't go jogging in the Morningside area and disappear for 2 days without being reported missing.

This leads me to believe she did have a planned tryst scheduled with this man. Her husband clearly did not report her missing because it would have been a front page story.

I thought it was fishy from the start but her record makes me think she's falsely accused AGAIN.
  • Springer Material
Look for this on a future episode of Jerry Springer (is it still on the air?).
  • There is a Hero in All This
Whether this was a secret tryst or a kidnapping - Kudos to the pizza delivery guy who reported it. It could just as easily have turned out to be the real thing.
  • "rape" "victim"
This false rape claim thing reminds me of a case out of Durham, North Carolina, which led to people loosing jobs, not being able to go to class, and then having to redact statements after it was learned that the DA only spoke with the alleged victim for 15 minutes.
  • I hate women like this.
Women like her who file false reports like this just infuriate me. It's hard enough for a woman who has been truly victimized to report it and get a conviction. But these women make it so that it is harder for the true victims to be taken seriously.
  • False Reports
I don't know whether or not this woman's accusation is legitimate or not. If it is, then unfortunately for her our justice system convicts or acquits based on reasonable doubt. And the fact of the matter is that her past makes "reasonable doubt" the default position. I'll be very surprised if this case even makes it to trial.
  • Or does it
You would think it would lend validity to her claims that she was tied up, but what were the conditions of her previous false reports? Inquiring minds want to know.
  • Who ordered the pizza?
I can't imagine that this guy was stupid enough to order a pizza and then let the delivery man see his captive in plain view.

    Something stinks about this.
  • hard to deny being tied up.
This article is why I dislike the "shield" laws. This woman may be lying about the whole thing. Meanwhile the guys is smeared while her name is protected. Yes woman do lie about this this type of thing and it happens way to often.

Now this could be the frame of a lifetime. Hey tie me up in a small cabin and order pizza. the pizza comes and she screams. BUSTED!!!

Now the guys deserves what he gets for cheating on his wife but it'll be hard to prove anything more with her past lies. A good defense attorney and he walks.

Now more facts will come and he could be guilty as hell. If so hang his a$$.
  • romance
Maybe he was going to seductively hand-feed her pizza.
  • I don't know...
her story seems pretty suspicious to me. She says she was jogging and he friend from work drove by and got her to willingly get into the car - because he wanted to show her his new car. The first thing I thought was that if I were jogging, I would be committed enough to the exercise to mot stop and take a ride in anyones car.
She said that he tied her up in the car and drove her to TN. That's not a short drive. She would have had many oportunities to get out of the car or to show drivers on the road that she was tied up.
I've rented one of these cabins. Ordinarily, you have to book them in advance. You can't just drive up there and find a cabin once you get there - or that would at least be very unlikely.
...and for the guy to be so stupid to order a pizza while he has his victim tied up - and not in another part of the cabin???
My summary: The guy's story sounds more likely to be true. The fact that she's cried wolf before alleging rape... it just really doesn't look like she is likely to be telling the truth here. I think this guy is going to be found innocent - and divorced - pretty quickly. If her husband doesn't also divorce her I'll be surprised.
  • only true currency
This goes to show you that your credibility and your word are supremely valuable in this life. I don't know weather or not this woman was raped, but it is so hard to believe her considering her past. Rape is a disgusting act, but false allegations of rape totally ruin a person's life. As the old saying goes, "Now where do I go to get my creditability restored?"
  • alleged rape
Speaking as a woman, I'm disgusted by actions of women who falsely accuse men of rape or even harassment. These men eventually have to "prove" their innocence and even if done successfully, they never live down the stigma, embarrassment and disruption to their lives and the lives of their loved ones. These women should pay. Unfortunately, as we've seen before, many women get a free pass, some even using it to their financial advantage.
  • 40+ Man/ 24 Woman
She tells him to tie her up and this man has already shown the lack of ability to make sounds decision so he obliges her.
  • Doubtful
No idiot would call a pizza delivery guy and leave her in plain clear view of the guy when he shows up with the pizza. Don't you think any idiot would think "oh crap!! someone's at the door!" And to do something that blatant as to order pizza DELIVERY (instead of picking it up), open the door with her right there on the couch unless she was willing just proves he's either innocent or just plain stupid. I was on her side until her background came out. Now the story's all falling in place. She was out jogging early in the morning and the guy just so happens to drive by JUST as she's jogging around. This all seems like she planned this with him ahead of time so he knew where she'd be and she could tell her husband she was going for a jog instead of saying, "Ya know what? I'm heading off for a weekend with another guy." Why not look like the victim in this case? She's so used to it!!!
  • Ditto on the tied up
I have to agree with Rob at this point. It does look like a real thing thus far and reminds me of the story of the boy who cried wolf. Here may be a time when this woman needs to be believed and her past actions cast doubt. If her story is as real as it seems I sure hope she has learned many lessons from this, the top lesson being NOT to file false reports.
  • Tied up
The fact that she was seen tied up asking for help makes her accusations seem pretty valid.
