This should be a great way to start off your week. Just listen to this Obama-fawning editor of Newsweek proclaiming that "He's is sort of God." Evan Thomas, in this same interview, said that "Reagan was about America," and "we're above that now."
Well .. isn't that special. We've finally gotten over that "America" thing. Isn't that grand? Yup, with Obama in office we're finally above that "America" stuff. And not only are we beyond this "America" stuff, our president is way way above it, in fact, he is a sort of God.
The media is in love with this guy. I know, I didn't have to tell you that, did I? This is the first time Newsweek has had a touch with religion in quite a while, and now that they've proclaimed our Dear Leader to be a sort of God, how can they allow him to fail?
Some people are going to actually be upset that Thomas said "sort of." Obama is, you know, a true God. And America is the world's largest Muslim country (in case you didn't know).
I heard this morning that the U.S. Navy is sending ships to hunt for the black boxes on the doomed Air France flight. Now ... This is a French airline flying a French-built commercial airliner with Brazilian and French passengers. We're strapped. John Galt is starting to work on his speech. And we're going to spend how much money searching for their black box? Aren't we the world's pariah? When is the last time the French helped us investigate a crash of an American flag carrier?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is running a little contest to name Atlanta's Most Obnoxious Radio Personality. Here's the link. When I logged on I thought I would be running away with this one. Lord knows I try. But alas ... I'm running a way behind to folks like Steak Shapiro and Frank Ski. My listeners can set them straight. Get to it. Oh ... and don't forget that as a good liberal you are absolutely REQUIRED to say that I "preach hate." If you don't, you could lose your complimentary subscription to People Magazine.
It may be a bit boring, but here's a story you should read if you want to understand the wonderful things that await us as government runs more and more of American business. If you think that our government has done a wonderful job with Social Security, the VA and Medicaid, just wait until they run a business near and dear to you.
It is our goal here at the Neal Boortz Show to keep you informed on the ongoing debate over universal healthcare. Basically, here is where we are. The people of this country are starting to get the picture. They are starting to figure out that their politicians are a little bit too in love with power. It took a while, but some of our brighter citizens are starting to rebel against this idea that America is great because of government. Considering the government takeovers and outrageous spending, Americans are realizing that maybe this idea of "big government" isn't all it's cracked up to be.
So the people are getting antsy, and this is happening before the looters can even really get going on their plan for ultimate power, government healthcare. The left knows they need to work quickly before the great unwashed mess things up. There's another problem: Congressional approval ratings are in the tank. Dick Cheney is more popular than Nancy Pelosi in the latest polls. What to do? How do you save the left's number one priority? You call on God, that's what you do. In the case of the Democrats, that means you get Barack Obama involved.
Yep, the president initially said that he was going to leave the healthcare debate up to Congress. That was then. This is now; and now the people are wary of a government takeover. Riding the coattails of Obama's popularity will be a government healthcare scheme they say will cost this country over $1.3 trillion over the next 10 years. They're wrong. Look for twice that amount. White House budget director Peter Orszag says, "Ultimately, as happened with the recovery act, it will become President Obama's plan." Even Rahm Emanuel says, "Obviously ... the president's adoption of something makes it easier to vote for, because he's -- let's be honest -- popular, and the public trusts him." No, Rham. He's sort of a God.
These people aren't stupid. They know how to dupe the government-educated into believing that this is what they want - more government.
So what plans are the Democrats hashing out, waiting for Obama to approve and deliver the news to the masses? An outline of the "American Health Choices Act" comes from Ted Kennedy's committee. Now get this ... in this bill, employers would be required to offer healthcare to its employees or pay a penalty to the government. We are talking ALL employers - private businesses - will be forced, by the government, to pay for health insurance for ALL employees; including part time workers.
I know you get hearing this ... but I just can't find anything in the Constitution that permits the government to force private individuals to buy health insurance for other private individuals. That's what going on here. The government is saying "So and so needs health insurance, so YOU go buy it for him. How do you think our founding fathers would feel about this? But who cares, right? They're just a bunch of dead white men anyway.
Also in this bill, all Americans would be guaranteed health insurance. But don't you worry, if poor people can't pay for it, this bill would provide subsidies for them to buy their policy. That's another entitlement program to add to the list. Oh and in case you didn't figure this out by now ..... everyone will be required to purchase health insurance. There could be a tax penalty for people who have "adequate financial resources" (as defined by the government) but do not freely choose to get insurance. You will not be allowed to self-insure. What do you think this is? A free country?
For the insurance side of things, there will be a government option. According to AP, "Insurance companies' profits would be limited, and private companies would have to compete with a new public 'affordable access' plan that would for the first time offer government-sponsored health care to Americans not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or other programs." Private companies have to make a profit. Government does not. Look for the private sector to be crowded out in the end. Government rules.
So now the real question when it comes to these healthcare schemes is how to pay for it. Well, it didn't take long for the Democrats to come up with a plan: tax the rich. What other way is there?
President Obama wants Congress to consider the idea of taxing the wealthy instead of his supporters. Remember that there is a plan floating around out there, initially proposed by John McCain during the campaign, to tax employee healthcare benefits. The Obama administration had been considering the idea, but it seems as though Obama is going to go the easy route of demagoging the evil rich.
Specifics? Well he wants Congress to consider "limited tax deductions for Americans in the highest tax brackets." Now notice the language ... Obama and the Democrats will never, ever call this a tax increase. Nope. They will stick with the line that they want to limit tax deductions. PrezBO's plan is to attack the two highest tax brackets (36% and 39.6%): He wants to set a 28% cap on tax deductions. This would include mortgage interest, investment expenses and charitable donations. Once your deductions amount to 28% of your taxable income, the deductions end. Obama may not believe in a war on terror, but he sure believes in waging war on private charities! And why not? After all, these private charities are competing with government. That just can't be allowed to happen.
All of the sudden, Congressional Democrats are realizing the implications of this government takeover of GM. Why? Because they are starting to hear from constituents who aren't too happy about the fact that the government is deciding which dealerships will be put out of businesses. So now that these politicians have to worry about votes, they express "growing concern" to Obama about the closure of GM and Chrysler dealerships. Here, for your pleasure, is a letter from House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer and Reps. Chris Van Hollen and Daniel Maffei.
Dear President Obama:
We are writing to express our concerns about General Motors' and Chrysler's decision to close profitable automobile dealerships across the country, and urge you to ask GM and Chrysler to delay final action on proposed closures pending further review of the decision to consolidate dealerships and the process by which Chrysler and GM selected the dealerships to close.
Closing these dealerships will put over 100,000 jobs at risk at a time when our country is shedding jobs at an alarming rate. We also question the criteria being used to determine which dealerships should be closed and the fundamental fairness involved in this effort. It is our view that the market rather than leaving it up to the manufacturers whose poor leadership contributed to their demise. Furthermore, we believe car dealers will be key players in any effort to revive the American auto industry.
We believe the dealerships are one of the auto industry's key sources of strength and the manufacturers should continue to honor their agreements and contracts. The dealerships, and their more than 1 million employees, form personal relationships with customers that often contribute to brand loyalty and will be key to General Motors' and Chrysler's recovery following this economic downturn. While we understand the desire to reduce the number of unprofitable dealerships, no one has yet sufficiently explained the need to close profitable dealerships.
We recognize that efforts by your Auto Task Force prevented the total liquidation of General Motors and Chrysler, as well as their dealership networks. We commend your efforts to help these businesses survive these challenging economic times.
However, we are concerned that manufacturers are closing profitable dealerships to circumvent current contracts which could require expensive buy-outs under normal conditions. We are also concerned about allegations that dealers that have previously stood up for their rights against the manufacturers are being targeted by these closures. We believe that the forced closures of profitable dealerships needs to be scrutinized by the Task Force to prevent additional future financial loses to General Motors and Chrysler and job loses across the United States
We may consider legislative proposals to ensure that dealers and their employees are treated fairly, and we look forward to your timely response.
Look, folks. This is just the beginning. Obama is promoting a fascist economic system in the country. OK .. I know you're government educated and you don't really understand economic fascism. Here's your primer:
An economic system where both industry and business is owned and controlled by the government ..... Socialism.
An economic system where industry and business is privately owned, but controlled by the government ..... Fascism.
An economic system where industry and business is privately owned an privately controlled. .... Free enterprise.
See if this is taught in your local government school.
As America elects the most liberal president to the White House, Europe actually becomes more ... conservative? What do they know that Americans don't?
