"Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others."

Ayn Rand

Nobody's listening.

We've been talking about this local story quite a bit this morning, so here's a place for you to discuss it. An Atlanta woman accused a man of kidnapping her, taking her to the Smokey Mountains, and raping her. A pizza delivery guy saw her tied up on the couch and called the police. Now it turns out that she has pled guilty to filing false reports in the past.

While the rest of the world is arguing about whether or not Sonia Sotomayor is a racist - she isn't - and concerned about the government takeover of General Motors ... the Democrats are busy working on their baby ... nationalized healthcare.

The looters are determined to have a bill out by August and so they are hashing out the details of their grand plans. Those details include two things: how do we trick the people into believing they have a choice when it comes to healthcare and how can we further demonize the rich to pay for it?

Do you want to know where we stand right now? Read this, from the Politico:

If Congress were to take a vote on a health reform bill today, Democrats and Republicans would find a surprising level of agreement -- so much so that the broad outlines of a consensus plan already are taking shape.

Sick or healthy, rich or poor, all Americans would be guaranteed access to health insurance.

In fact, they'd probably be required to purchase it -- perhaps through mandates in the law that would include stiff tax penalties for anyone who tried to opt out.

Newly created insurance marketplaces would make finding a plan as easy as shopping for cheap airfare. People could keep their coverage, even if they switched jobs. And they might be able to choose between private insurers and a government-backed plan.

But here's the catch -- none of this would come free, with the wealthiest Americans likely to face higher taxes to help pay for coverage for all.

If the Republicans don't get their act together real quick, there is going to be absolutely no hope to block this monstrous excuse for government growth and control.

It's not health "insurance" we're talking about here; it's a health care payment plan.

Insurance is something you purchase to partially reimburse you for UNEXPECTED expenses related to home or auto ownership, or your health. Your auto insurance policy will step in with some cash for a crash, but not for an oil change or new tires. Your homeowner's insurance will come up with some money for repairs to fire damage, but not to replace your water heater or that 20-year-old roof. There are certain budgetary requirements that come into play when you own a house or a car, and your insurance company would laugh you out of the county if you went to them to be reimbursed for an oil change or having your carpets cleaned.

Why, then, do you think that your health "insurance" should pay for ordinary and expected healthcare expenses? It shouldn't. These are things that you should budget for. But the American people have a different idea. They believe that their health care is someone else's responsibility - either their employer's or the governments. Power-mad politicians are only too glad to pander to that idiotic expectation.

You think the government has control over vast amounts of your life now? Wait until the government controls your health care.

As you are well aware, I Twitter. (@talkmaster) I use Twitter to post insensitive remarks or thoughts and the occasional article to read. But the US military in Afghanistan has decided that it is going to start using Twitter, along with Facebook and YouTube. It is part of a new effort to reach people who get their information on the Internet rather than newspapers.

Apparently this effort is also another way to counter Taliban propaganda. There is a big problem with the Taliban spreading false messages about how many soldiers are being killed or what is happening ... so this is an effort to help set the record straight.

This week, the military has already used Twitter to announce the death of a US service member from non-combat-related injuries. The death was posted on Twitter before being announced in a formal press statement. The military also wants soldiers to post photos and stories to help portray daily life in Afghanistan.

Not sure what I think about this. All this time I thought that we were relying on private-sector war correspondents for information. Now the government tweets?

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency is a woman by the name of Lisa Jackson, and Lisa Jackson is concerned about environmental justice. She believes that minorities and low-income people are the victims of pollution by evil US companies and businesses.

She says, "There are too many places in this country where pollution and environmental degradation fall disproportionately on low-income and minority communities ... We can't stand by and accept those disparities ... At EPA, part of our central mission is to show all Americans that we work for them."

Actually, there's a reason why pollution --- air pollution, for instance - has a disproportionate impact on some poorer communities. Prevailing winds. Not racism - prevailing winds. Look at most industrialized cities in the United States. Study the prevailing winds. You will find that when these cities were built the real estate on the upwind side of the smokestacks cost more, while the downwind real estate cost less. Why? Sorry ... if you can't figure that one out, you need help. So .. what are we supposed to do now? Punish industry because people know which way the wind blows?

Sounds like Lisa Jackson and South Carolina Senator James Clyburn are playing from the same rule book of racial chips.

Yesterday, the first hearing of the Obama administration took place at Guantanamo Bay. This is just until they figure out what the heck to do with the detainees. After all, Obama did promise to shut down Gitmo and appease the moonbats.

While GM filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday, Chrysler had its own day in court as a federal judge approved the sale of most of the company's assets to Italy's Fiat.

General Motors and Citigroup have been kicked out of the Dow Jones Industrial average. How long before PrezBO becomes CEO of Citigroup?

Why are Conservatives So Mean? Watch this. Damn ... this is good.

The President of the World Bank says that stimulus plans (like Barack Obama's) are nothing but an economic 'sugar high' and will not ultimately curb unemployment.

When it comes to the media's infatuation with Barack Obama, the press has become Obama's silent ally and seems in a state of denial.

Bob Woodward wants to write a book about Barack Obama ... and the White House is apparently pretty nervous about the idea.

The Minnesota Supreme Court is finally hearing arguments on whether problems with absentee ballots justify reversing a lower-court ruling that declared Al Franken the winner in the Senate race.

Tax cheat Timothy Geithner tells an audience in China that its dollar assets are safe ... and they laugh at him. Not good.

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has the federal courts involved in decided who has control over stimulus money - the Governor or the state legislature. Power. All about power.

The economy performed better than expected in the first quarter, and no it was not thanks to those government stimulus checks.

According to Rasmussen, a whopping of 31% U.S. voters believe the economic stimulus package passed earlier this year has helped the economy.

The White House has decided that it is not going to reveal how much it cost the taxpayers for Barack and Michelle to spend a weekend in New York City.

Speaking of New York ... in order to raise a few extra bucks for the government coffers, New York City is selling the naming rights to some of its park facilities.

Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York gets the boneheaded politician comment of the day. Just remember, to this guy it is all about race.
