What others are saying

  • Ivan,
    It's alright, you're wrong.

Don't worry, the idea of a president who puts together a team of lawyers to "approve his actions as he oversteps his authority" and "make sure his policies fall within legal boundaries" is nothing new. It's been happening for years, and most everybody around here seems to think it's OK.
  • Empathy!
    O'Dissious,
Maybe if you knew how to use a computer you would have read the entire statement by Obama, dealing with the word "empathy"!
First here's the sentence by Obama where the word empathy is used, followed up by the next sentence which was never spoken on right-wing radio, as it destroys the empathy whine by you and the 20%ers that you listen to!
"I view the quality of empathy,of understanding and identifying with peoples hopes and struggles as an essential ingredient for arriving at just decisions and outcomes."
Now here is the very next sentence out of Obama's mouth one you'll never hear or read where you get your daily BS from Rush,Hannity etc.
"I will seek somebody who is dedicated to the rule of law,who honors our constitutional traditions, who respects the integrity of the judicial and apporopriate limits of the judical role."
Blows your BS statement about empathy, right out of the water!
  • Love it
Finally a reasonable selection after Alito.
  • Sotomayor
Uh, there more than one problem with this gal.

Sotomayor: 'I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male'...

Can she really be saying white men are incompetent? I hope she doesn't get confirmed.

I can't believe she said that!!!!!!
  • Sorry, Ivan
Can't tell you it isn't true. With more than half this country not having a clue of what is to come, it's no wonder it seems as if most appear to have had their heads in the sand. Most go about their daily business day after day as if nothing is really wrong. It's quite scary.
  • I wonder if the nominee's name even matters...
After all, the far-right nuts are just going to chant in unison:

“[insert nominee's name] is a liberal judicial activist of the first order who thinks [his/her] own personal political agenda is more important that the law as written. [He/She] thinks that judges should dictate policy and that one’s sex, race and ethnicity ought to affect the decisions one renders from the bench. [He/she] is out of touch with the values of mainstream Americans and far more of a liberal activist than even the current liberal activist Supreme Court.”

Be a conservative--it's easier than thinking!
  • Spellcheck is your friend
'A SUPREME COURT NOMIMANTION' I don't know if we'll get one of those or not. Not even sure what a 'nomimantion' is.
  • Another chance
Another chance for Republicans to stand up for what they believe in... if they have the guts.
  • nominee
    Here's a clip of what we can expect;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfC99LrrM2Q

In a nutshell she says "the court of appeals is where policy is made".

    Scary!
  • There is an agenda here...
Obama is going to pick a lib nominee who he knows he can count on to legislate from the bench. He knows that much of what he is trying to accomplish is highly illegal. He will create a brand new "legal czar" as well to make sure his new policies "fall within legal boundaries". All this means is he will hire a legal spindoctor to approve of his actions as he oversteps his authority. I promise you our leaders are VERY worried about the inevitable collapse of our economy. The measures they are taking are just simply preparations for handling civil unrest and possibly full on revolution. If you think I am wrong you need to start keeping up with current events. We are literally only a step away from crumbling like the USSR did. Tell me in wrong...please...
  • Supremes
Yes, we will get a nomination... expect it to be a racist decision to exploit the sensitivities of the ignorant masses so that they might accept a far left radical bed wetter. Bonus points for getting more illegal alien votes in the next election cycle... extra bonus points for hispanic.
  • Qualifications !!
From Breitbart: "Obama had said publicly he wanted a justice who combined intellect and empathy—the ability to understand the troubles of everyday Americans."

So, empathy trumps Constitutional Knowledge as a qualification for the nation's highest court!

More Change I Don't Care To Believe In !!!
  • Sung to the tune of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...
"Barack Obama's Bleeding Hearts Club Band, we hope you will enjoy the show! Barack Obama's empathetic Bleeding Hearts Club Band, relax until it's time to go..." Yes, I know the game is to get a representative of the party in power to ensure the other Justices don't get too radical going the other way. I'm just amazed how watered down the qualifications get to try and shoehorn someone who is marginally suited for the job into the position. Speaking of which, anyone notice the resemblance Ruth Bader- Ginsberg bears to the fossil that's been said to have linked humans with pre-historic creatures? Sort of a bird like, yet upright walking dinosaur. Matches the description rather well. Probably around the same age, too! Thank you...thank you very much...
  • I hope this nominee
wont cite EU precedent in her opinions. Ugh what a disaster
