WHY WON'T OBAMA RELEASE THE PHOTOS?

After the taxpayers spent $328,000 on pictures of Air Force One over Manhattan, and after hundreds of New Yorkers marked their shorts, Obama has decided that the photos will not be released to the public. Sort of odd, isn't it? After all, this White House has been eager to release other photos! How about pictures of American troops "torturing" Islamic radicals? How about pictures of the coffins of dead American soldiers returning from the Middle East? Those pictures are just fine, thank you very much. But those pictures of Air Force One? No way. And why not? Well ... here are two possibilities:

  1. The Obama White House knows that those photos will be a constant reminder to the people of his free spending policies.
  2. If the pictures are released someone will immediately duplicate them using Photoshop .. and dare you to tell the difference. Just a bit embarrassing.

Hard to blame him, isn't it? Release of those photos only leads to additional embarrassment.

    I wonder where the photo plane was. In all the pictures of AF 1 flying around Manhattan, there were only F-16 escorts, and they sure are not photo planes. I think it was a joy ride! That's why no photos. Is it possible that the AF 1 planes can go on a mission without the knowledge and approval of the President? I think not!

    Wouldn't these photos qualify under the Freedom of Information Act? They released photos and information far more sensitive to American intelligence under FIA, so why wouldn't these qualify?

    Just curious..

    Also, did anyone see the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner trailing the plane. Now that would have been funny.

    How correct you are. How many are aware that Barry has his personal assistant that goes by the name Reggie Love staying at the big house with him. This would all be too funny if it would not be true. May-be that let's see how many awards have they given them-selves show Saturday Night Live? Could do a skit on a day spent with Barry and Reggie. Is'nt that what they became famous for mocking president's. You do not hear any jokes from them. Oh that's right NBC --- GE who tells them what to do.

  • About the flight
    First of all, a FOIA request will get you nothing -- except a place on the Dept of Homeland Security domestic terrorism watch list. They have classified the photos. Why have the classified the photos? Because details of the President's itinerary are classified. I'll bet dollars to donuts that if the pictures were released, they'd show old jug-ears himself smirking at the camera with NYC in the background. And that would prove that he lied when he said he wasn't aware of the flight & would provide (yet another) example of his poor judgement.

  • Simple Explanation
    Obama ran out of party favors to give out on his world apology tour. He only had 2 options - give a ride on AF1... or give a BJ. A BJ (as the J states) is a job, and why should anyone actually have to work in this nation? Besides, his mouth was tired from the many, many, many....

  • Photographer's location
    If this was truly a photo op, a possible location for the photographer would have been on a large ship off of Liberty Island to get AF1, an F-16 and Manhattan Island in the background.

    Also, if this was a PR shoot at taxpayer's expense it should be public domain. If the administration cannot produce such photos then a misuse of government property is suspect and the taxpayer's should demand that the administration, (Obama) reimburse the government for the expenses,(Which would be almost his yearly salary).

    Is it just me or doesn't it seem like this "trip" was all ego?

  • Snappy Nom De Plume, you could not be more wrong. It is our plane, our money, and our business. If you don't understand that fact, then I certainly hope you don't vote in elections.

    Now, as far as the reason the photos won't be released, I chose option 3: there aren't any, because we aren't being told the truth about what happened that day. I don't buy the photo op story.

    In my mind, as well as in fact, the aircraft concerned were paid for by the taxpayers of the United States of America.

    The same folks who paid my salary during my service in the United States Marine Corps, including some time with the helicopters which, to the dismay of many, are now at Mr. Obama's beck and call.

    Yes, I understand the job description, and a great many of the documents supporting it. Don't be so quick to assume. I know that there are some hopelessly devoted followers of His Anointed Eminence posting here but some of us just have a sense of humor.

    All of the gifts he's given to dignitaries over seas have been on the lame side so now each one will get a "x number of a kind" framed picture of Air Force One flying over New York instead of an iPod or a gift certificate from Omaha Steaks. And if it gets Photoshopped, he'll know who did it.

  • I had the same question that others here had: Where was the photo plane? They were not taking pictures from the F-16...it was following and nobody wants pics of the hind-end of a 747. The other F-16 was flying high or as an "umbrella" as it were. Neither fighter is set up for photography of the type that would be suitable for framing.

    So where was the fourth plane?

    If prezbo was NOT on board, someone should be tried for breach of national security - here's why: The two 747's that are used as AF1 are always on standby at Andrews in case of a nuclear attack. It becomes THE command center for our military. What if there was an attack and the other 747 had mechanical problems? While this one is joyriding around NY, the US no longer has a command center to defend out country. To purposely remove one of them from service for a donor joyride (my bet) reprehensible.

    There are no photos. The photo ruse was used as an excuse to try to justify the "real" reason for the flyover, whatever that was.
    They are probably scrambling now to create some photos with some computer program that will end up looking just fabulous.
    Then they will say, oh you want to see the photos? Well, okay - here they are, don't they look great? It was worth the 300+K to get these great photos.
    Oh, you want some copies or to see the originals? We can't find any right now.

    I am much more interested in who was on the flight. Without the prezbo on board, they have no legal basis for withholding the manifest as a point of national security.

    However, as others have pointed out, the plane was referred to as AF1 from the FAA and the Pentagon which means O'Bama WAS on board, but with who?

    Hell maybe this whole airplane thing is just another scare to try and keep Americans in a panic so it enables the Federal government to keep passing more Rome era legislation. Kind of like how there isn't really a war on terror, if there were a war on terror and the Federal government was actually concerned about islamic fascists coming in to do harm in America then the border would be shut down using troops, and the Federal government would be making moves to get illegals out. No closed border=no war on terror....there's not a logical arguement that can deny that. So simply another scare tactic to give government a reason to enlarge and spend. The Mexican Swine flu is another. Bush was really into this sort of scare and enlarge leftist nonsense also.

    They won't release the photos because Obama was on the plane. Otherwise, it wouldn't be referred to as Air Force One by FAA traffic control.

    In every video and photo of this incident the fighter is behind AF1. I have yet to see the fighter in a position to take pictures, abreast of AF1. So maybe there are no pictures to release and the excuse of a photo mission is false. What were they really doing? I have no answer.

    A more interesting question might be "Was there anyone actually taking photos and if so, who and where?" I've never heard any comments on that. Maybe the gun camera's of the F16's were being used.

  • 0bama's Big Apple AF1 buzz
    Why did Barry buzz NYC with AF1? It was going to be part of his buddy George Lucas's new movie "Red Tails" about the Tuskegee Airmen starring Cuba Gooding. The escorting F16s were from 187th Fighter Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard, which is the direct decendent of the Tuskegee Airmen. The F16s were clearly identifiable with their distinctive tail markings. Those pictures may still be released, when the movie is.

    That was Obama and his homies joy riding in that jet. It was Rahm's idea to swoop the Statue of Liberty but Obama thought of the idea flying up Houston St! What A Gas! Look at the peons fleeing and running! Nothing makes you feel more like the president than swooping voters and scaring the hell out of them
