The government will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year.

Borrowing implies that it will one day be paid back. With interest. Actually, it has to be paid off. Much of that debt is owned by foreign governments. That debt will have to be repaid. Some of the debt is held by Americans ... and the government can easily just ignore that. After all ... the government owns us. We work at the pleasure and for the pleasure of the political class. Whatever wealth we produce, they own. In their infinite wisdom they'll allow you to keep just enough of your wealth to encourage you to keep working so that you can keep funding them. It will be the same for your children and your grandchildren. There's a huge multi-trillion debt to be paid ... thank goodness the government has the assets to cover that debt. Your children.

  • gxm - gold?
What good is gold if the economy collapses? Gold is only worth whatever the person you can get it to is willing to pay for it -- or barter for it. If you can find someone who wants it, it will be a buyer's market and you will be at their mercy.

If nobody has anything, then the last thing they want is gold. They want food, water, medicine, gasoline, clothing, housing, matches, candles -- the things they truly need to survive.

I'm not spending my money on gold. I'm spending it to stockpile what it takes to survive -- and the guns and ammo it takes to protect what I have from the thieves that will be rampant.

Enjoy looking at your pretty gold when you're starving to death.
  • Great Article
Great Article, Mr. Boortz. It wonderful to finally hear this straight from the horses mouth...
  • plan b:debt forgiveness?
How many third-world nations have had their debts taken off the books at the expense of the USA,the world bank, or some other foolish organization when the debtor country has a change of leadership thru a revolution, overthrow,a coup or even a"democraticly elected dictator". Well we definitly now qualifiy for one of those generous plans since the overthrow of our constitution,so where do we get the forms to fill out for this debt forgiveness plan for third world dictatorship nations, now that we ARE one. PS: someone call China and tell them about this program, maybe we can sell them our "most favored nation status" since we're gonna lose it anyway.Seriously, can someone tell me what secures the bonds China hold besides our word? (and the whole world knows "THE GREAT SATAN's word is crap.) besides third world countries do not reconize THEIR previous governments debts.JUST WHAT THE HELL CAN CHINA DO IF OBAMA SAYS SORRY WE'LL PAY 5 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR.What are they gonna do,start a war?Hey, we may be broke but we're still a nuclear superpower with the best delivery system and military in the world.Being broke doesn't mean we're defensless and desperate times could lead to desperate measures. W.W.III could be an end of the depression(deja-vu)
  • Positive spin?
Where is Copyleft? I was anxiously awaiting a positive spin on this irresponsible spending.
  • Big G
    "Okay, i feel better now...."

    Well I'm glad you do!!!

Somedays, I'd scared outta my wits by what's coming and other days I just want to put blinders on.
  • To Big G
Honestly don't get upset at Obama. He is just a man. He has a family. I disagree with everything he does practically, but it is not his fault. His hand is being forced I am sure like many others in Washington. If Obama doesn't comply with the NWO financiers they will assassinate him just like they did with John F Kennedy. Biden will quickly pick up where Obama left off and continue the agenda. These people know what is on the line and they have no problem killing you or a President to see their goals met. They don't lose...ever. Only the American people will.
  • Re: Ivan, Tytler Cycle.
We're probably in the apathy to dependence stage – what is really needed is a way to interrupt this cycle.
We certainly don't want to follow it and make the same mistakes that have been made countless times before..
  • Hmmmmmm
Okay, let me get this straight.

Our elected officials have or are about to bankrupt Social Security and Medicare.

And now they think they have all the kinks worked out to experiment with a Guaranteed Savings Account???

WHAT ARE WE DOING????? We must organized better than ever. It's lunacy run amock in D.C.

I don't own a gun but do know how to use non-ballistic weapons.

Our current president isn't fit to bag grocieries much less balance a checkbook and he sees fit to slash Chryslers advertising budget by half??

He truly is the most arrogant and inexperienced president ever.

    Okay, i feel better now....
  • Here's something that is not really being talked about...
When the collapse takes place will there be a time of complete lawlessness or will the NWO be around to try to police it somehow? Also is there a chance that the NWO could lose control of the situation and some other group could slide into power while everything is in turmoil? I can't help but think that even as powerful as I know the NWO is I still think that when the **** hits the fan they could still make mistakes. There is no way they could have this entire process planned. They have declared war on US sovereignty and if you know anything about war it never goes absolutely to plan and there are ALWAYS casualties.
  • To JG
Nice info. Thank you for that. So where would we be do you think? I would say we are nearing the end of the complacency to apathy stage getting ready for the apathy to dependence stage.
  • If you haven't already, buy a gun or Guns and BLOAT! (Buy Lots of Ammunition Today) – of course, that's if you can find it!!
    Nuff' said
  • Welcom to the Third World
I own a copy of the army survival field manual and some gold. I might have enough gold to get me through the first year of financial Armageddon. What then? I guess that is where the field manual comes in. It’s too bad someone doesn’t write one for surviving in a third world country. I guess Peter Schiff’s two books are as close as you will get. This would be a real opportunity for somebody that lives in a third world country and is literate not always a combination that is easy to find. This is all the result of a tea party but not of course the ones referred to in these comments. It’s the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party going on in Washington D.C. Even though I have spent my life as a computer software techie I am sort of a history buff and know something about finance and economics so I “sort of” know how we got here yet the madness of it all still amazes me. Those who do not learn from history…
  • Re: Ivan: taxPayers strike
Keep this Quotation from Alexander Tytler in mind:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

I am at a loss as to how to stop this madness. The Statist's need the taxPayers – the achiever's and producers to sacrifice themselves for the “Good” of the Statist's utopia.
If the taxPayers refuse to 'Play along' for even a short time period, the vote-buying revenue stream will be interrupted.

I really don't see any alternatives to stopping the course we're on in the “Tytler Cycle”
  • Have no fear, american debt holders
PrezBo the dear leader will do just as he did with Chrysler preferred creditors--give them pennies on the dollar. Bless his heart. So no, they won't be completely worthless. Just mostly worthless. I suppose it won't be long thereafter that he "trades" the national debt for, say, Taiwan.
  • Debt
To put the numbers in perspective. If a family with a household income of $50,000 acted like the federal government, the family would have consumer debt of over $200,000!! (and this is a conservative figure not taking into consideration of the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare).
  • Tea Parties
They DO serve a purpose, they educate. Let the MSM ridicule us, many people watching wonder what this is all about and look into it so every time they see it on tv we pick up a few more people going "hmmmmmm, gee there are people out there who think like me...".

    It's worth it.
  • To JG
Tea Partiers tried this and the MSM trashed them for it. The NWO has an agenda and they will not stand for dissenters. At first they will ridicule you. If you keep at it they will threaten you. Take it further and they will force you to stay quiet...one way or another.

  • taxPayers Strike!
    Quote:
“After all ... the government owns us. We work at the pleasure and for the pleasure of the political class. Whatever wealth we produce, they own. In their infinite wisdom they'll allow you to keep just enough of your wealth to encourage you to keep working so that you can keep funding them. “

What if the taxPayers decided to simply decided to go on strike for a few days?
  • It doesn't surprise me that no one seems concerned...
The Obama administration along with the NWO will make sure you aren't scared until they want you to be scared. The amount of trash propaganda flowing through the media today has reached monumental proportions. There it is slapping...no punching you in the face, but yet people still say it is all bs. I almost want to give up on the dumb masses. I mean hell they are GPS tagging people's front doors for God’s sake. The census isn't until next year and that will be handled in the traditional way. This GPS tagging thing is new. What could be the reason the census needs to tag our doors? As far as I know the census ONLY needs to know how many people reside at that residence. I am paranoid that this information could be used to round people up. Think about it. Why would government need to have GPS to find your house? They wouldn't. They would simply use Mapquest or some other map site to find your house. This GPS tech would be used when the Internet is NOT accessible. Obama does have the power to literally shut off the Internet if he thinks a threat over the Internet is a threat to national security. Would the Internet be considered a threat to national security if say hypothetically the economy were to collapse and people were trying to use the Internet to coordinate against the NWO? I would think yes. Hell what if the economic disaster got so bad that parts of the Internet are just not there anymore because the company that supplied the content went under. These things are not out of the realm of possibility. If things got really bad in this country wouldn’t we “require” UN or NATO forces to help FEMA? Those foreign “humanitarian” forces would have literally no clue how to get around in the United States. With the help of GPS tagging that would no longer be a problem. Also I just wanted to throw this in there…isn’t it funny how the MSM is trying to say that the economy is starting to recover? ROTFFLMFAO. I love how two months ago the President of the United States is on TV telling us that this economic disaster is pretty damn grim. Two months later things are already shaping up…HAHA WOOOOOOWWWW. This is after members of his party tell him he is being too pessimistic. Let me just say this. If you believe them and you “invest” your money in the market you will be the chump in the end. This is a last leg effort to steal money from the investors that were still on the fence and think they can cash in big. It is a lie and you will lose your investment. As far as I am concerned your money is already worthless. They just haven’t announced it yet.
  • China
If you notice, the more we move in the socialist/ communist direction - the more China moves in to the Capitalist and away from communism direction.
To fight the down turn China lowered Capital gains taxes to stimulate their economy.
We may have to time it just right and jump countries.

i learn something new every day. most of people don't what to learn. or they think the are learning by watching the news every day.

i was a twit. and i still am, partially, until i die. because i will never comprehend why the people put up this, the slavery than been hoisted on their backs. and they don't even know it, and ridicule people who try to tell them about it.

    i'll keep fighting
  • Resell our notes
Rather than paying back these foreign entities, why don't we just let them collect the money owed to the US for all of our efforts since WWI?
  • Incredible Insight
I hate to say it, but I almost have admiration for how skillfully the political class (this includes the stinking Repuglicans) has played me and almost everyone else I know. How can they know just what to do to keep me busting my ass thinking I will be getting ahead and having all my labor go to just keeping my head above water and not just chucking it all and moving to a tropical island and selling adult beverages to tourists. I am a sap. I shall spend the rest of the day plotting my escape, once and for all.

I tell you, it really does amaze me at the people that walk around here completely clueless to what is going on right under their noses. These people continue to wander into a voting booth and either press the Obama button or the McCain button and don't give a second moments thought to what it really means when they do that. Twits.
  • And this is why I've decided not to have children...sad, but I'm not going to bring a child into this world know that it will become a slave to its government.

Okay, gotta practice my zombie talk: government is good, they will protect me (hear the zombie accent?), I don't need my money, give it all to Obama....

  • Joyce & T-Shirt
According to DaleC from yesterday, you're a tinfoil hat wearer. Just do as DaleC does and walk around like a zombie and believe the government and banks are looking out for you. According to him, it's the best way to live your lives.
  • matt r
    they will demand taiwan
  • Matt R
Excellent point, I can see our government giving China equity in some of these government run corporations in exchange.
  • China
What will China demand for repayment? It doesn't always have to be cash or gold....
  • Don't count on it...
I mentioned this last week under the bailout post, that borrowing money just leads to more spending to pay back the loan, thus, "justifying," more taxes, etc. etc. Neal's listening to me?!

"...they'll allow you to keep just enough of your wealth to encourage you to keep working so that you can keep funding them."

I wouldn't necessarily take that for granted. More and more gov't programs are geared towards dependency, specifically raising benefits for not working, and taxing the bejesus out of those who make intelligent life decisions and are therefore productive. Why would anyone want to work anymore when it's so much nicer to just do nothing and get paid for it?
