Do you remember the story a few months ago about a woman who was selling her virginity in order to pay for school?  Alina Percea is 18-years-old.  Apparently she had a real itch to study computers, but she couldn't afford it.  So she auctioned off her virginity, and the winning bid went for $13,827 to a middle-aged Italian man.

 

So now ...... here comes the government for its share of taxes.  You see, Alina was in Germany on a student visa.  In Germany prostitution is legal, but hookers are taxed at 50% of their earnings. 

 

So now the question is: is she a considered a prostitute?

 

On top of all this, Alina may also be liable for a large VAT bill when she leaves Germany, because she earned so much money in such a short amount of time.

 

Government will do anything to get its hands on your money.  The middle-aged Italian dude got what he wanted.  Did Alina?

    This should paint an example for people that don't know who or what they voted for. It doesn't matter what the lady is doing, she is getting taxed at 50% of her income. {Granted she was stupid for doing it to begin with}.

    Today they tax prostitutes at 50%. Soon they will tax wealthy people at 50%. The bottom line, we are all prostitutes for the government. We go out at and work, and they steal the money from us. If we don't pay, they beat us, steal from us, and throw us out in the street.

    can someone please explain what this cap and trade crap is?

    what i understand is:
    they want to curb carbon DIoxide from being released into the air. So they are going to charge companies for carbon offsets and this is supposed to miraculously make money?

    But, we need carbon DIoxide- I can see trying to curb carbon MONoxide- but the carbone dioxide is what we need for the trees (how about saving the rainforests? what happened to that?)
    And even if they buy offsets or whatever, aren't those pollutants still going into the air? And don't the companies just raise costs to customers in order to offset that?

    If I am way off base, can someone please explain it to me in terms like, "cap and trade for dummies?"

    She had sex for money. Sounds like prostitution to me. If she didn't like the after tax profits, she should have held out for more money.

    I'm not a fan of taxes, but they are part of doing business. Before she got into the prostitution business, she should have found out about things like the tax rate.

    The dictionary defines a prostitute as one who engages in sexual intercourse for money. Was that hard?

    Her motivation or circumstances don't enter into it... I'm sure that a lot of prostitutes throughout history have done so because they felt they had no other choice.
