Is who won American Idol last night. Sorry, I don't care. I can't name one of the five or ten or whatever finalists. I have no idea who won. There is no possible way I could care any less than I do. If you're looking for American Idol news today you've come to the wrong radio show. Ditto if you're concerned about won/loss records or ERAs. There are moonbats out there who are actively trying to destroy our way of life ... I'll concentrate on that, if you don't mind.

Since you called me out I will respond. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long but I was WORKING, something that may be a foreign concept to a young fart like yourself.

To answer your question about discussing the Super Bowl on Monday or participating in the NCAA bracket pool the answers are "no" and "no". I did watch the Super Bowl but on Monday I was WORKING. I own my business and I do not allow gambling so the office bracket pool is out also. Here is my point about employess slobbering all over themselves over American Idol: I am paying them to be productive, not stop all activity while customers wait, phones are ringing, and work is not being done. I also will put into the same category as wasting my $$$ talking about a TV program is checking emails for personal correspondence and texting. My problem with all of this is that it indicates an attitude of complacency, which is the root of most of our problems in the USA.

Since you opened your comments with a reference to old farts I can safely assume you are of the younger generation. I bet you text message and email regularly during the work day (if you work). I hope you have a tolerant boss so you don't get fired.

I was actually impressed that you could spell hypocrite correctly. Congratulations, you are smarter than a 5th grader. Ok, gotta go to work now.
  • President Obamuppet
Our country,in the spirit of American Idol, elected one. Enough said. We're a nation that's become all about celebrities
    not substance. Stay tuned Y'all!
  • chill
For pete's sake, Neal. Buy some Prep-H and take a laxative. You're turning into an old crank. I've never seen anyone who enjoys calling other people "stupid" as much as you do.
  • hear! hear!
I'm with ya, Neal! Same for that sports guy getting house arrest. Give me real news!
  • @David Granger
One is CLEARLY more talented than the other? If I understand you correctly, you are comparing the competition between the two top Idol contenders and an American presidential election.

Adam was not clearly more talented, he simply has a louder, more wailing voice. Perhaps if the judges panel did not pimp Adam so obviously, he would have won.

Perhaps if the MSM did not pimp Obama so obviously, he would not have won.

Sounds like the AI voters are smarter than the American voters.
  • Claudia
Sorry to disappoint you, but the idiots like Jimbo and Michael will be tuning in to So You Think You Can Dance this evening.
  • Jimbo
Stop whining, twit. Neal is an entertainer and only an intelligent person would have seen that up front and not taken this personally. Anyhow, I don't want to keep you from listening to your Clay Aiken albums.
  • ACORN = American Idol
They both were able to put the wrong person on stage.
  • American Idol and Baseball
We get it Neal, you are better than all of those who choose to try to enjoy life, and not just consume themselves with nothing but politics. Thank you for beating us over the head with this fact. I look forward to your news everyday, as well as other forms of entertainment. If it makes you feel better to belittle others so that you can feel superior, then have fun with that.
  • a couple points
There are not more Idol voters than general election voters. The Nielsons have average viewership of Idol at about 25M per episode. Assuming that only 90% of viewers actually cast votes, then we have 22.5M voting. If a total of 100M votes were tallied, this means that on average each voter cast 4.4 votes for their favorite, since multiple votes are allowed. We should be so lucky as to have only 22.5M turning out for general elections - we wouldn't be in the jam we're in now. Look, it's just people enjoying a form of entertainment. Neal's too rabid about this - it's not that bad. Now the reason 300M people know about Idol is (all together now) - the MSM!
  • I wonder how many of you old farts were part of the 50% of the nation who saw the Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Didn't you know there was a presidential election coming up that year? Why were you not debating that instead? Oh, that's right - entertainment is okay as long as it's what you like. Any of you play golf instead of watching CSPAN all weekend?

Idol is not anywhere near as popular as any Super Bowl or even Olympic figure skating has been. It's not even in the top 20 broadcasts over the last 10 years, so all of you protesting against it are barking up the wrong tree. This is one of the big problems of our society - demonizing something without facts. It's how the global warming farce got started.

Mr. Pharmer, did you discuss the Super Bowl the Monday after or was it business as usual for you? What about the office NCAA bracket pool? Is "h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e" the correct spelling?

Kisto, I'll gladly put my IQ up against yours any day. Making blanket statements about a stranger's intelligence based on his entertainment choices pegs you as average at best.
  • American Idol upset...
Just a thought, but isn't what happened on American Idol last night real indicative of our country nowadays? One contestant is CLEARLY more talented than the other...by just about unanimous acclaim. (Especially of the people who really know music.)
Yet...because it's so heavily dependant on the American voter...the person with lesser ability is elected because he's sweet and nice. And wouldn't it make for a nice "fairy tale" type of ending if he somehow managed to beat the guy who was so clearly more talented? (Affirmative action comes to TV!)
  • Neal..
..doth protest too much and also needs to stop insulting the real moonbats (bats living on the moon). They're not going to look the other way forever, you know.
  • American Idol
If you watch this stuff, automatically deduct 25 points from your IQ.
  • IAmerican Idol
It is so sad and pathetic that more people vote on idol than our elections
  • American idol
Maybe now people can concentrate in the important things in this country, like the way government is taking over our lives.....
  • in case you were wondering...
The drag queen lost, and the shy Christian won.

For winning, the shy Christian had to sing a horrible song written by one of the judges. For losing, as a consolation prize, the drag queen got fondled by Simon and Ryan.

Now, we'll have to wait another year for the next batch of no-talent hacks to sing karaoke in front of a bunch of Obama supporters.
  • American Idle
American Idol = American Idle. I've never seen the show, I don't have to. I can just observe my employees waste 30 minutes of my business's time talking about who was voted off, who was wearing what, how awful somebody stupid enough to be on the show was, etc. I had to put on my "Mean ole a-hole of a boss" hat and tell them to get back to work this morning. No wonder that Japan, China, India, etc are kicking our butts in business. I hope we can export our entertainment crap to them so we may be able to compete in the world economy. Wake up people and put in a day's work for a day's pay and stop wasting your employers time by yakking about American Idol.
  • ivan
when the economy collapses people will wonder what happened, why didn't people warn us that things were bad.
and you and i and many others will shake our heads...
  • 100 Million Votes....
..let EVERYONE, not just democrats, vote unlimited numbers of times.....

and there would be billions of votes for president.

    Typical apples/oranges comparison.
  • PresBo guest appearance...
I truly am amazed he didnt make a showing last night saying if it wasn't for him there wouldn't be such a show...no, I get it now...he is thinking of a way to take it over and tax all of the voters and viewers!
  • Uhh...
Well at least after the economy collapses we won't be subjected to American Idol anymore. I wonder when China will foreclose on the US.
  • what??
I thought Obama put an end to that show with his first of ten Comandments:I AM THE LORD,THY GOD.THOU SHALT HAVE NO GODS BEFORE ME!
  • American What?
Neal...thanks so much for not caring about this load of crap. In the I have no idea how many years this program has been aired I can say that I have watched less than a total of 90 minutes of it. The same goes for the rest of the so called "Reality Shows" as well
  • Janie
Well said. I'm a grumpy fart when it comes to the political mess we're in (I'm listening and watching!) - that doesn't mean I can't take a few minutes of time and enjoy something with my wife and daughter. I also walk and chew gum at the same time, write reports on the computer while talking on the phone, pat my head and rub my stomach simultaneously - I'm a regular carnival side-show.
Adam should have won and a significant terrorist plot against Jews was busted in NYC - more details to follow including the ACLU lawsuit against the NYPD and the FBI for infringing on these freedom fighters' civil rights. Let's not forget the CAIR lawsuit against Fox News for mentioning Jihad in their coverage.
    Next?
  • American Karaoke
Neal's comment was not about whether or not it is OK to watch the show-I truly don't thnk he cares what you do in your life. If you like the show, fine, whatever. The comment was more directed to the fact that more people can name the four finalists of AI (note the ironic abbreviation) than the name of ANY of their Congressmen or their governor or anything that actually affects their life.
  • The winner....
...actually Neal, some media outlets yesterday were billing it as a blue state vs. red state battle.

In my opinion, they were doing this with the assumption that the blue stater (Adam) was going to win easily.

Now that the redstater won.....not a word.
  • destroy our way of life
really? that's why you got the bankruptcy of the US on the front burner? where is the front burner? i don't seem to find it anywhere.
  • Idol
Personally, I need shows like Idol to help take my mind off of everything. Once a day I like to just sit down & have no concerns or worries. Shows like this help me do that. I too believe that you can be informed but also enjoy the simple things.
  • Grumpy old men
I agree with Janie. Everyone needs some distractions.

For the record Kris Allen won a surprise victory of Adam Lambert.

Politicians wasting my money, making stupid decisions and seeking more control over the populous... Not a Surprise!

I am not going to make any apologies for liking some mindless entertainment, I more than follow what our leaders are doing.
  • gag
first and last time I look at this thread
  • Focus
I think when the media focuses more on this stuff than tea parties, there's a problem.
  • American Idol
I thought Barack Obama won "American Idol."
  • American Idol
I don't even know why you mention the fact that you are not the place to come for American Idol news. Is it national state the obvious day? Shows just how big it is that you gotta say that you are not talking about it. Just because people are fans of the show does not mean that it is all they care about. One can not concentrate on the U.S./world condition 24/7 or they would go crazy. Do not tell me you have no interest in any entertainment (not judging what it in particular might be) at all. No idle time spent? No thoughts that stray from what an incredible crisis state this country has become to be in? I have grave concern for the future of this country, we are on an incredibly slippery slope with the current government situation. This does not mean we have to get on people and hate on popular culture. Having said that I wish we could get 100 million votes for our elected officials like American Idol had in one evening. Sad, but it says a lot more than people only care about American Idol, a lot more.
  • American Idol
I love the show and I can hang with any of you blow hards (e.g. politics, history and current events) that think your superior because you don't watch these types of shows. You just have to be able to multi-task.

When I mean "blow-hards" (plural), I mean you too Neal.
  • American Bore
I'm with you, Neal...I don't even have a TV signal out here in the boonies. Even when I had a signal, I never watched that junk. If I had a signal now, I'd probably be glued to FOX news.

Don't understand the fascination with it myself. Don't understand the endless fascination with reality TV, either. *shrug* Gives the sheeple a distraction, so they aren't paying attention to what's going on in D.C., I guess.
  • Comments on Idol
    ..Amen!
  • Don't be such a grumpy old man!
You can be a very well-informed citizen, highly cognizant of current affairs, and *also* be a fan of American Idol or sports or other aspects of popular culture.

There's more to life than sitting around grousing about your political foes. Lighten up and enjoy life!
  • Idol
Wish people would pay as much attention to what the clowns in Washington are doing as they do this insipid TV show.
