Here's the text of former Vice President Dick Cheney's speech yesterday at the American Enterprise Institute.  Read this and you'll see why polling by CNN shows that Cheney is being looked upon more favorably by the public.

The UAW has apparently reached an agreement with GM and the Treasury Department.  There is so much wrong with that statement.

There are some Bush interrogation memos that PrezBO will NOT release .. the ones that show the results.

This might be fun:  The perils of a nationalized car maker .  Change you can believe in.

Here's a must-read .. I've been telling you this for months .. Obama's restructuring plans for Chrysler are going to end up costing the pension funds of teachers and police officers.  That's OK, though, as long as the UAW is happy.

A Georgetown professor has written a Bill of Federalism, that addresses the imbalance between state and federal power.

Not only does Obama definitely want to close Gitmo, but he has decided that some Gitmo detainees are, in fact, going to come to the US.

The Pew Research Center found that independent voters are on the rise in this age of Obama.

The Politico has done a fact check on the Obama/Cheney speeches yesterday.

The House voted against a Republican effort to investigate Nancy Pelosi's claim that the CIA lied to her about waterboarding.

An Obama oops .. can you name Obama's secretary of defense?  Apparently he can't. We'll blame it on his teleprompter.  In fact, if you check out Barack Obama's Telepromper's Blog you'll see that the teleprompter has some negative thoughts about Obama's speech yesterday, but accepts the blame for the goof.

Congress is considering raising the federal excise tax on beer by 145%.

Is California the next brilliant bailout of the Obama administration?  George Will seems to think so ...

Lawmakers want to give Chrysler dealers more time to wind down their car dealerships.

A government middle school student in Pennsylvania has been expelled because she brought an eyebrow shaver to school, and the government considers this a weapon.

This is good news for a lot of women ... Men face mass extinction because male genes are dying out.

Michael Moore's next contribution to the world is going to be a film about the global financial crisis.

The question of the day: how do you properly remove an obese woman from her house after she has gone Tango Uniform?

Who has the highest life expectancy in the world?

What others are saying

  • Bill of Federalism
Like it, but there are three basic things lacking.
    1. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against criminal acts shall not be violated, nor shall the right to self defense of persons or property be abridged.

    2. No person shall be punished for a crime unless guilt for said crime has been factually demonstrated.

Because, amazingly enough, it is not unconstitutional to keep an innocent person in jail as long as due process was observed.

    3. No issue of procedure shall ever take precedence over issues of fact in any civil or criminal proceeding.
  • Hey Forrest!
It's no secret that there is a bunker in the White House, so why are you making like it is a big deal that Cheney said he went to it? Just Damn!
  • To Forrest
Forrest don't even worry about the comments of underground bunkers by Cheney or Biden. The ones they "slipped" out are not even the important ones. There are over 100 underground facilities in this country that are used for VIPs and for conducting classified research and development for the military/military contractors. Some of these underground bases are the size of cities and are well over a thousand feet below the surface. Some are built into the sides of mountains with secret entry ways. Some are built into naturally occuring mesa's. Some even have entrances that are out at sea. The military sometimes uses them to store ships and submarines. They are all interconnected by a maglev train system similar to a typical bullet train only alot more sophisticated. These trains travel at Mach 2 through tubes that have been constructed right under your feet. The train system is accessible from the fallout bunker under the White House as well as many other secure locations such as military bases. There are several main hubs around the country. One of the main hubs is actually underneath Colorado. That is just a brief overview. Spend an hour talking about this subject with me and your mind will be blown. There are many things that our government is doing that is just beyond imagination.
  • Cheney should continue to force Obama's hand
By continually hitting Obama on things like GITMO, national security, etc. Cheney's approval ratings are....rising...while Obama's are...falling. Not to mention that the USA is LOSING ITS AAA credit rating for sovereign debt. Unbelievable that nobody picked up on this today.

Strange none of the RINOS in the Senate have picked up on this yet.

    Obama is vulnerable.
  • Facts
    Forrest:
It is well known that there is a bunker under the WhiteHouse it is called the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. It was built during WWII. Oh, and Joe "Gaffe" Biden doesnt even hold a candle to Mr. Cheney.
  • Dick Cheney
Two quotes I absolutely loved from a true Libertarian, Jesse Ventura. "Give me an hour, a waterboard, and Dick Cheney and I will have him confessing to the Tate murders". "If the tactics are so effective then were is Osama Bin Laden?"
  • Michael Moore
Why doesn't Michael Moore team up with oprah and make a movie on how to lose weight?
  • another "undisclosed location" bunker slip by VP
Except this time, it was Cheney, not Biden. Wonder why the news hasn't made a big deal out of this? How come it is a terrible thing for Biden to mention that there was a bunker somewhere in the VP residence, but Cheney confirming that he was in a bunker in the White House on 9/11 is just fine. Here's the quote:

"With the plane still inbound, Secret Service agents came into my office and said we had to leave now. A few moments later, I found myself in a fortified White House command post somewhere down below.

There in the bunker came the reports and the images that so many Americans remember from that day: word of the crash in Pennsylvania, the final phone calls from hijacked planes, the final horror for those who jumped to their death to escape being burned alive.

In the years since, I've heard occasional speculation that I'm a different man after 9/11. I wouldn't say that. But I'll freely admit that watching a coordinated, devastating attack on our country from an underground bunker at the White House can affect how you view your responsibilities."

What say you all? I'd like to know why the former VP gets a pass but the current VP gets hosed on Fox and talk radio. Why can't they both be blithering idiots?
  • Cheney
is a pathological liar. I particularly liked the part where we claimed, in the face of a mountain of evidence and declassified memos, that there was no connection between Gitmo and Abu Ghraib. Apparently, the military itself is now part of the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy.

The man has absolutely no shame.
  • California
Great vote this Tuesday, too little too late I'm afraid. I've been saying, once the Federal Government starts bailing out states, they will work towards getting rid of state governments.

And once California accepts a bailout then the Dems will love that they can do away with a 2/3 majority in the legislature, so of course they love it!

    we're doomed

Which state is next? How's Obama's state of Illinois doing?
  • Bill of Federalism
Is there some way to make that required reading in government schools or, at least, for freshman Representatives? I love reading that in plain English.
  • Bill of Federalism
Is it possible to make that required reading in government schools or for at least freshman Representatives? I love reading that in plain English.
  • Independent voters...bull!
This is the generation of the whining uncommitted, not the independent. Commitment means that you have to believe in something more then who will be the next American Idol or that you are responsible for your own actions. Too many times have I heard from the under 30 crowd “someone has to do something about this”, but when pressed about who they think should do someone else. Do they join churches…no. Do they join the PTA…no. Do they offer to coach their son’s soccer team…no. Sure they will “help” with the little things, such as participate in a walkathon but they won’t help organize the event.
  • Eyebrow Shaver
I did not know what an eyebrow shaver was so looked it up and they look like the shivs inmates make with a toothbrush handle and razor blade (or similar parts).

I can understand that just the similarities in appearance alone would be a problem. Poor judgment by the student.
An inmate would sure like to have one of these device if he could.

It is ridiculous to me that a middle school student is worried about shaving eyebrows or that such a product even exists outside the beauty saloon - or at all.
This student needs a self esteem adjustment, perhaps some different less cool friends, parents that give a damn.
But somebody invented it, patented it and make some $$$. A good idea in that respect.
I could us a variety of common objects as a deadly weapon, say a cell phone, but I can bring them to school! I also have some sharp pencils!

Even on one of those silly cop shows (showing some ATL area deputies) the deputies were so visibly excited about being on TV with their not so exciting argument situation they were investigating, they improved their segment be determining that a lamp was now to be considered a deadly weapon. Anything to enhance their charges and impress the listening audience.

Crap. I see that I am surrounded by deadly weapons all day long but never realized it.
  • Obama's decision to bring detainees to the U.S.
    Comming soon to Florance, Colorado?

And will their "family and friends" be moving to the surounding area?
(Is the welcome wagon on notice?)

    What about their legal representatives?
    (could a lawyer relay information?)

Seems like there are many questions and problems that haven't been thought through.

Will this mean Obama has taken full responsibility for our national security?
Or, when another attack occurs will the blame go to Obama's whipp'in boy, Bush?
  • About that dead 750-pounder
    Insensitivity alert!
How does anybody retain a boyfriend (or girlfriend) when they reach over a third of a ton in weight? You would think when you acquire hemispheres it might be time to lose a few...
  • Michael Moore
well, neal's got "global financial crisis" on his reading assignments. is it some reading where people could understand the global financial crisis? heck no. its about Michael Moore's movie about it.
i don't like Michael Moore. but i will rent his movie. it's the first one i've seen.
what have you done, neal, to educate us on the global financial crisis? absolutely nothing. we've got you to tell us about the evils of unions and the obese woman who's DRT.

you're walking hand in hand with those Political Correction crowds. but you've got another message to keep the masses uninformed.
  • Girl suspended for eyebrow trimmer
Maybe she threatened to trim the unibrows on those cro-magnon school adminstrators...
  • All hail President and Almighty Emperor Barack Hussein Obama
In his wisdom and benificence, god-emperor Obama will be the sole arbiter of which legal niceties shall be observed. The legal rights of terrorists are held in higher regard than are the bankruptcy laws of the United States.

It'd be nice if SOMEBODY would remind the god-emperor that he gave his word that he'd uphold the Constitution of the United States - the ENTIRE document, not just the parts he likes.
  • Cheney
How popular was Winston Churchill in 1938? Cheney reminds us what is true nature of the radical Islamic terrorist, which is never popular with the appeasers in government and the media.
  • Eyebrow Shaver Girl
It is asinine that she should be suspended for an eyebrow shaver, but in the school's defense, a 15 year old that's still in middle school probably doesn't have much of a future anyway.
  • Re: Federalism - point made by Mark Levin makes in his book: Liberty and Tyranny [L&T]
(IMHO) One of best points Mark Levin makes in his book: Liberty and Tyranny [L&T] is on page 59 in the chapter on Federalism.

Basically he makes the point that the genius of the federal system is that is distributes authority at different levels, so that you don't have power concentrated in one place.

And therefore you don't have one authority that can become evil.

In his words: ”diffusing authority among many imperfect men” …..(to) ,,,,“isolate and limit tyranny”
  • Cheney vs. Obama
What's the problem? Are they muslims? Keep 'em all locked up and piss on their instruction manuals - oops, I mean korans.
For all you libs and bleeders out there, let me take the wind out of your sails:
I am such an ignorant, insensitive, inarticulate, uneducated, bigoted stupid a$$ ba$tard...how did idiots like me not get aborted...I hope I die!

    Did I forget anything?
  • Cheney versus the Chosen
Cheney made the chosen one look exactly like the unqualified community organizer the idolizing, indoctrinated and indigent put into the oval office last year. President Obamuppet and friends are a scary lot. Good luck to our country with this puppet in charge.
