Peggy Noonan has a great column about the indecipherable language of government and how it is endangering our nation.

Wall Journal Editorial ... "Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich." No need to say any more.

Do you remember last week when Obama said that healthcare leaders pledged to cut costs by $2 trillion? Yeah, turns out that it isn't exactly accurate. Wait! Obama not being entirely truthful? You have to be kidding me!

As of right now, the Democrats are sticking by Nancy Pelosi, despite the fact that she accused the CIA of lying to Congress. That's fine. She's theirs. They're welcome to her.

Reckoning day for tax and spend governance may finally be at hand ... in California.

Mark Steyn has an excellent column exploring Nancy Pelosi's 'troubling' performance at her press conference last week.

While John Kerry is anxious to bailout the newspaper industry, the White House actually seems resistant to the idea.

According to a Rasmussen poll, 32% of Americans say they'd be willing to pay higher taxes so that the government could provide health insurance for all Americans. Now that's a rather interesting statistic when you consider the fact that almost 50% of Americans don't pay income taxes in the first place.

Where would we be without the latest gaffe from Vice President Joe Biden.

Speaking of Vice Presidents ... Dick Cheney has been in the news a lot lately, and the Republicans seem to be okay with this.

Michael Steele has decided that the Republicans need a new way to oppose gay marriage .. so they are going to say that it will affect small businesses. Oh yeah .. this is really going to propel the Republicans into power again.

Today Barack Obama will be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. I would just love to be able to read Netanyahu's mind during that meeting. "How in the hell did this guy ever get elected?"

New York Rep. Pete King says that the ACLU is single-handedly "tearing down the United States" because of their position on torture and the Gitmo detainees.

Have you heard about this Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009? It would authorize Eric Holder to deny the sale or transfer of firearms to known or suspected terrorists. Would that include our veterans?

So a 16-year-old high school student decides not to wear any underwear - and a somewhat short skirt - to high school on a day when pictures are going to be taken. What could possibly go wrong? The family, of course, is going to hire a lawyer.

We are getting closer to having the first four-year accredited Islamic college in the United States.

Hugo "the Horrible" Chavez wants to close down the last remaining TV station that dares to question his authority.

Research suggests Wal-Mart can actually reduce obesity in low-income neighborhoods.

What products of flying off store shelves in this economy?

What others are saying

  • a LOT of erroneous intel?
is that all you got for "a LOT of erroneous intel?" lol.

you got nothing, sweetheart. Can't blame you for trying to make stuff up about me since I'm not chugging the kool-aid with you and LibHater. enjoy your cocktails, boys.

so what's the point of your question? that allowing a middle eastern country control over part of our port security wasn't a breech because bush backed down once he heard our reaction to that hairbrained scheme therefore it never happened or are you saying you don't think it was an unnecessary security risk? if you're playing the "it never became a breech" game, what did Biden do that became a breech? he never confirmed anything. he just spoke like a dope about things he shouldn't have and people are now trying to put 2+2 together. no confirmation.

if you're defending it, well there's just no hope for you. you have fun defending that idiotic maneuver. i guess the entire country was wrong except for you and bush. too bad he didn't have the courage of his convictions to stick with his guns and see it though since it was totally safe and the right thing to do.

nice job taking an inaccurate snipe in the afternoon then immediately playing the crickets card. bias and hatred will only get you so far, smooth. at some point you are going to have to contribute.
  • Over Exposed
With a picture like that in the yearbook, she will never be Miss California! Man, that really narrows down the future career choices.
  • Islamic college?
It takes 4 years to learn how to beat women, build bombs, behead infidels, fire an AK-47, operate a convenience store and run a motel? Perhaps it does.
  • Tamil Tigers
    Eve,
Steele's comments are small fries next to the Tamil Tiger's surrender, but no one off the island seems to care.
  • Overwhelming Debt
"Your political opponents are the Democrats in Congress and the bureaucrats in Washington, not President Obama," Frank Luntz wrote in a memo to GOP lawmakers. "Every time we test language that criticized the president by name, the response was negative, even among Republicans."

The answer is simple. Talk about how complicated taxes are. However, better than that is to concentrate how wasteful congress is and how they are overspending. Over the past two years the economy has done poorly. Sure, much of that may be cyclical economics, but what is one of the constants? A Congress filled with Democrats (and liberal spenders of other people's money).

Let's look at the budget like this. I need to lose weight. It is not healthy for me to be my current weight and I will probably live longer and be better able to provide for my family and enjoy a better quality of life if I lose weight. (or at least stop gaining weight)

I currently eat 3,540 calories a day. I need to eat no more than 2,000 calories a day to maintain my weight. Now imagine that I give up 140 of my calories a day. Is this good for my weight loss efforts? Of course, not!

This is what the fiscally liberal Congress has been doing. Oh, yeah. And last year it was a big stink that I ate 2,800 calories. However, now that I have "cut back" the media does not seem to mind. Anyone suggesting that we cut back our calories will be verbally assaulted by Ms. Garrofolo for hating plants so much that we encourage eating them.
  • Pantiless Girl
Mom seemed to be pretty supportive of her minor daughter going to school half naked. Why oh why are either of them upset? She got what she was after, lots of attention. Maybe she's learned something at her government school for a change.
  • jabbering Joe
There are no words to describe how much of a fool Joe Biden is. He apparently was taking a cheap shot at Dick Cheney, but Biden is the vice-president now. If there is another terrorist attack, he is going to be the one in the bunker. The top secret bunker that all the terrorists now know about. While it's unlikely an attack could reach there, Joe has certainly given them the opportunity to try. And how much money will now be wasted having to build another secret shelter somewhere else?
  • Biden the clown, Pelosi the liar
Obama picked the one village idiot for VP who would always make him look good, no matter what the odds. And Pelosi, that botox-riddled hag from the left coast, continues to dismay everyone on capitol hill with her hara-kiri, fluttering eyelid routine.

This is a dimocrat version of a "shock and awe" campaign.
  • The rest of the reading assignments.
The dp/msm would much rather argue about Cheney, than with him, for good reason. I’m glad Mr. Cheney hasn’t completely retired, he’s no longer duty bound to subordinate his own positions, and hasn’t ever been afraid to say what he thinks. I suspect much of the surviving GOP pols are just glad he’s taking heat instead of them.

It would be nice if Chairman Steele would say or do something that impressed me. His answer to the waterboarding question was the lamest I’ve seen. What a pathetic contrast to Mr. Cheney.

Read the ACLU founding documents, they were founded by a commie, and that’s pretty much what they say they are there for. Isn’t it obvious from the cases they take, and don’t take?

Terrorists, like many drug dealers, prefer and get class III weapons, which already require a discretionary license. I’ll entertain the idea holder is sincere about wanting to keep firearms out of the hands of terrorists after he shuts down the cross border smuggling from Mexico.

Maybe that 16 year-old’s parents should sue themselves, or each other.

Oh boy, jihad U. I can’t wait to see who they choose to honor by naming things after. I wonder what their mascot will be?

You mean chavez hasn’t done so yet? That’s the only surprise in that story.

WalMart only reduces obesity after those little scoters are all taken.

Looks like things to weather a depression are selling.
  • Pantiless girl
Might want to cross your legs next time, tiger. Frankly, I'd be more embarrassed over the whole world knowing that I was in the Pottery Club.
  • The Choice for Congress Nancy or Jail?
It seems to me that Nancy Pelosi is leading one of the most corrupt Congresses in modern history. When you have someone protecting you from jail, you are stuck with her as your leader.
  • Reading Assignments.
Peggy shouldn’t complain, at least she doesn’t have to hear the language of Gov. Palin, which seems to bother her more.

Soak the guy that signs your paycheck, I know how that will work out.

Hussein inaccurate on health care? When wasn’t he?

Pelosi’s press conference was hilarious if you don’t think of the national security implications of what she and the rest of the dp has done. She and the dp have been accusing the GOP of playing politics with national security pointedly since (of course we could go much further back) the Iraq War vote, when in fact it is they that have been doing so all along. As speaker and second in the line of succession for POTUS, she gets the same national security briefings as the President and VP, which includes the ability to ask questions and get answers.
It's a disgrace, but no surprise, that not one of those reporters called her on that during that entire conference.

Are you ready for the federal bailout (with strings), of CA? The hussein administration will probably say they are to big to fail.

Steyn is always a good read.

Hussein may need that money to prop up the big lefty broadcast companies when his depression gets in full swing with cap and trade(they might not be dumb enough to do it, but that’s a faint hope).

32% of Americans figure their annual income redistribution check won’t go down, much less risk having to pay any income tax even if they are raised. They are likely hoping to get out of that medicare ‘contribution’ with national health care as well.

They can change the location of the VP bunker AFTER biden is gone. What will this idiot give away next?
  • States socking it to the "rich"
Obviously, the Federal Government under obozo, won't like the states soakin gthe rich. Because its their job to do it.

While the facist government is taking and minimalizing the states, lets just do away with the states? Great idea, look how much $$ the country will save. We'll only have one KING - that would be obozo, no term limits - like his buddies the "Castro's".

So there would be no more tax dodging and evasion, by moving to Tennessee or Florida - to evade the taxes. Get rid of the "loop-holes" and haven's and dismantle all the state governments, imagine, all the money to be saved; that could pay on the federal deficit?

But why should obozo stop there? Lets get rid of all the states, too... why need state property lines, when we are all one STATE under obozo? Only have one Flag - not 51 (no wonder why he couldn't recall in the primary how many states there were - he don't care).

So, why have a national sales tax when we can just give obozo all of our wealth and he can give back what he deems we need.

Obviously, I see this as a joke and a possible threat but obozo might just float this balloon and grasp onto it.
  • what about steele!!!??
I can't believe Neal skipped that one!! Steele claims that gay marriage is bad for small business, come on, can't believe this is not in the nuze. here's the story in case someone missed it, but it was all over the news throughout the weekend:
    http://www.examiner.com/x-6571-Atlanta-Political-Buzz-Examiner~y2009m5d17-Steele-wants-to-hide-behind-fiscal-issues-when-it-comes-to-gay-marriage
  • In the words of Reagan, there you go again, Gavin.
Better check your facts before posting, I notice you post a LOT of erroneous intel. It was a Dubai-based company, actually. And what security breach did that constitute? I think I hear crickets chirping.
  • Mr. Arctic
While your example is correct for ice that floats on water, such as arctic ocean ice, or the antarctic ice shelf, the "global warming" nuts are worried about land-bound ice, such as on Greenland, or on the Antarctic continent bedrock. This ice, if melted, would drain into the ocean, and cause ocean levels to rise. I myself, do not believe this will happen, however, it is true that the earth has had ice ages form and retreat many times in the past, so it is possible, but not certain.
  • random...
Otheus -- You spent a disturbing amount of time thinking about PantyGate. Are you friends with Club-A-Liberal-Hater?

Mr. Artic -- Ice in a glass isn't above "sea level." It's your analogy that doesn't make sense.

$mooth -- How many MAJOR security "gaffes" did Bush let fly? None -- his were intentional -- attempting to sell port security to a Suadi company -- doing nothing to secure our borders after 911 -- failing to bring Bin Laden to justice by convincing us we needed to instead stop the immediate threat posed by Iraq -- doing nothing to prevent North Korea from testing nukes -- and on it goes....

Finally, I'll keep saying this until Cheney goes away, if there are documents that justify the use of advanced interrogation techniques, he is breaking the law by confirming their existence and breaking it again by explaining their content. The only way he isn't breaking the law is if he's lying. Which is it, Dick?
  • "I've Been Humiliated"
That's what the 16 year old said toward the end of that report of her not wearing underwear and apparently not crossing her legs sitting down for the picture.

So the Year Book Staff is supposed to go through hundreds of photos to make sure NO women are exposing themselves on accident due to poor decision making?

Chalk it up as a learning experience, lady. Geeze.
  • Year book Porn
I would simply file child porn charges against the principal and all involved in distributing the pornography. This would get faculty inline since it would no longer be about some poor girl and would be about how many years each faculty member would be in prison and how they would have to move to stay 1000ft away from schools.

It would be nice to see schools subjected to the same kind of nonsense they subject everyone else too.
  • Mr. Arctic
Um, not that I support this whole "man made global warming" crap (cause I don't), but **IF** the ice were to melt, it would be the land based ice you would have to worry about and there is lots of that to raise the levels of the sea.

But the earth and sun are just going through their cycles as normal, so we are fine. For a while....
  • National Health Care
I read somewhere. If the country does go by way of offering up health care to everyone, what happens to all the money between the auto companies and UAW?
And...since I have already have healthcare provided via military retirement after 21 years service, am I OWED :^))) additional money since everyone else will be getting it too?
  • Liberal "genius" Joe Biden and MSM
Liberal and Leftist critics spent millions of hours in print, art media and electronics media decrying what an idiot President Bush was. He went to Yale, but still talked like a Texan, was plain spoken and sometimes sounded simple. But how many MAJOR gaffes security breaches did he let fly? None. And why (yes this is a rhetorical question) is no one in the media calling out Biden? Maybe they’ve gotten so used to hearing Kennedy, Franks, Pelosi, Reid and Dodd they are deaf from stupidness.
  • (weak attempt) Laughing @ 05/18/09 09:34:52 AM
Very weak attempt,After everything we've seen in the last three months,If your not already locked and loaded, then maybe you don't need to be.Oh!!I'm sorry,That little right wing veteran terrorist that hoovers over my left shoulder said that. Wasn't me Janet
  • no firearms to "suspected" terrorists
    What happened to due process?

If I read the DHS report drafted by that idiot Napolitano, it appears that only illegal aliens, ACORN workers and leftist extremists would be allowed to hold guns.

    That's the uber-liberal plan, isn't it?
  • Biden
    Hahahahahahahaha
  • Tart in the yearbook photo
What kind of tart wears a short dress like that without underwear, to a co-ed high school? Given the immaturity of your average teenage boy these days, that's just asking for trouble - never mind a stray gust of wind. And it's obvious that skirt is short enough not to cover her ass when she sits down - how gross is that? Nothing here happened by accident.
  • Bush lied, the CIA lied, yadayadayada
She’s called Republicans liars so long she thought she could pull off this one too….who knew that botox could trigger spontaneous combustion?

Leon Pannetta may have to waterboard her to get the truth.
  • YEARBOOK
I'VE TOLD MY KIDS THAT "A DUMB HEAD MAKES THE WHOLE BODY SUFFER" AND LET THEM DEAL WITH THEIR CONSEQUENCES. IT HAS BEEN HARD TO DO, BUT, AFTER ONE OR TWO TIMES, IT KIND OF SINKS IN. THE GIRL SHOULD HAVE TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCE OF HER ACTION.
  • "transparency"
So this 16 yr old girl goes to school pantiless the day pictures are taken and then complains you can see her "privates"?

Here's a suggestion twit...maybe you should have closed your legs.
  • Democrats are sticking by Nancy Pelosi
    ... birds of a feather ...
Have we ever know a career politician tell the truth?
  • i love hugo chavez
why? because he tells our banker-led US to go take a hike. if only our citizens would be that bold.

yes, i know, all of you people who say he is a communist dictator. of course your going to say that. you have been told to say that. it's all over the news. well, i don't watch the news. because i don't want to be brainwashed.

go ahead, blast me and hugo chavez. i like hearing the brainwashed people...
  • Joe Biden
He had some interesting things to say on the USS Ronald Reagan last week too. He referred to fallen troops in Iraq & Afghanistan as "Fallen Angels". Now, as a "devout Catholic", would he not realize that a "Fallen Angel" is defined as an angel that has been banished from Heaven? What that his thoughts on them, or was he just being "Joe".
  • Antarctica is Melting
I did not read the story last week about how much sea levels were supposed to rise if all the ice in the poles melted, because the concept does not make sense.

I explained it to my wife so even she gets it:

If you have a glass of water and put ices cubes in it until it is full to the very top and then the ice melts, does the glass overflow?

    The short answer is no.

And there is a good reason for you science buffs to figure out.
  • "firearms to known or suspected terrorists"
Terrorists never go through any legal system to acquire weapons. This would only insure the terrorists are armed and the U.S. Citizen is unarmed.
This is a weak attempt at disarming U.S. citizens.
  • Re: Recession items – the Most important thing is that sales of Guns and Ammo are WAY up
Of course we can't have law-abiding citizens defending themselves from the Criminals and the Government [each day that becomes more and more of a redundant statement, by the way], can we??
  • going commando to school on picture day
Lots of angles on this one.... First, the school is essentially refusing to comment, saying it's a non-issue. However, if what the student says is true, and this picture is actually revealing private parts, then the school, the yearbook editor, the principal, etc, are committing child pornography (given that she's a junior this year, and that most juniors are well under 18).

Second, if she WERE wearing underwear, would it really make that much of a difference (to the student, not in a legal sense) ? So many teens are wearing thongs these days, I don't see how it would make a difference.

Third, AREN'T GIRLS TAUGHT TO CROSS THEIR LEGS WHEN SITTING WHILE WEARING A SKIRT?? Gheez.

Fourth, the school is claiming this is a 'shadow'. As a former yearbook photographer (and editor), I agree that it probably is. But given that this girl has dark hear, again, does it make any difference? One school official is quoted as saying, "Perception is the reality." Normally I'd beg to disagree, but in this case, I cannot.

Fifth, the student is in the Pottery making club. Uh, nevermind, I won't go there.
  • California Budget
If the SEIU would stay out of it, CA would stand a better chance.
  • Re: The Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009
What if they decide to use this to Deny your First and Second Amendment rights without due process????
  • "It would authorize Eric Holder to deny the sale or transfer of firearms to known or suspected terrorists." It would probably include everyone on the infamous DHS report, which would include all of us. I'm going to get my permit ASAP. Do I want a new Glock, new shotgun, or both? Probably both.
  • Re: Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich
Remember the quote from Alexander Tytler

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury.

The Statists can only succeed if the achiever's and producers sacrifice themselves to the collective.

Statism has ALWAYS FAILED, inevitably there will achiever's and producers willing to be enslaved by the Statists and it will collapse on it own – but only after great suffering.

There HAS to be a way of fighting Statism before it's TOO LATE.
  • Sychronicity
You should mention that the "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009" is sponsored by the same Pete King (RINO-NY) who is kicking the ACLU in the previous item.
