It took them long enough but PETA is finally having its say on this swine flu. Naturally, the organization wants to use this swine flu in order to illustrate why people should become vegetarians.

What they want to do is set up a real-life hog farm on the steps of the Capitol. The exhibit would include three pigs, and 3,500 gallons of pig manure and urine. Then they are going to get large fans, which will be used to blow the odor around. In the background, they will show undercover footage of conditions in hog farms while distributing information on why you should become a vegetarian.

I'll show you undercover footage of Nancy Pelosi ... and that will ensure that you will never be a vegetarian.

What others are saying

  • Pigs
I too am an animal lover. I don't have a problem with eating pigs, cows, chickens....etc........what I DO have a problem with is the way that these animals are treated.
  • There's a bigger problem
The flu is NOT a pig-borne disease. It has not been found in pigs--only in humans.

So why do virtually all media outlets continue to call it "swine" flu? Agenda. Neal can blow about it tomorrow. Blah blah blah.

Let's put a padded cell in front of the Capitol & fill it with PETA members, Obama supporters...

...& "Fair" Tax advocates. 3,500 gallons of manure, no pigs.

    There's no such thing as a "Fair" Tax--& it's a 30% tax, Neal.

A $100 item with a "built-in" 23% tax is actually a $77 dollar item with with an ADDED 30% tax. Do the math. It's elementary algebra.

The sad thing is that you are one of the most visible beacons of liberty in our country--& you're not very bright. Loud & obnoxious, yes...
  • I. Moyer

I'm pretty sure most humans are born without cuspids or bi-cuspids in their mouth.

Pigs are not vegetarians. They are far more omnivorous than we are. And the development of this flu has everything to do with us not being vegetarians, (and thus raising animals for meat where they are in conditions that foster disease and it's transmission to us).

Not that I'm going to stop eating meat or lend the people at PETA any credence.
  • Vegetarians and herbivores
Pigs are, in practice, omnivores, though they are not predators. They will eat anything in the pig slop, including leftover pork. OK, wild boars are territorial, but they aren't ripping your leg off to eat it, they just don't like our kind in their neighborhood.
Who's the best known vegetarian in all of history? None other than Hitler himself. It's true, Uncle Adolf didn't touch meat. Look it up; you're on the internet already.
  • I like PETA!!!!!
stir fried with a little touch of ginger...
  • Humans are omnivorous, it's a survival trait.
Our adaptability is one of our greatest strengths. Veganism is a luxury that comes with our prosperity and will go with it as well.

My favorite carnivore saying was a billboard for a grub joint that said, "There's a place for all God's creatures...Right next to the mashed potatos."
  • 3500 Gallons of sh*t on the mall, 3500 gallons of...
An additional 3,500 gallons of manure at the Capitol in Washington, DC. Who's going to notice?!?!?!?

People will think that it's just another government project. If it were REALLY UGLY, the National Endowment for the Arts would fund it!
  • Love it!
I'm sure they will get taxpayer NEA funding for it too.
  • Pigs? Vegetarians?
Sounds like a great idea, PETA...
    - Swine Flu a strain of influenza that is created in pigs...
    - Pigs are vegetarians,
    - We should all be vegetarians so we can contribute in making more of the same strain of influenza!
  • PETA's biggest fans
...will be used to blow the odor around.
  • The scary thing is
Neal has footage of Pelosi under the covers. I think I will go loose my lunch now.
  • Taking pigs to the Capitol . . .
    . . .is like taking coals to Newcastle . . .
  • Correct "street name"
Let's call it the Mexican Swine Flu. Now everyone will be happy?
  • Holee Crap, Batman
That is just disgusting, even for those freaks.

I'm mostly vegetarian but that's mostly for health reasons. I don't give a rat's @$$ what the vegans say, homo sapiens are (is?) omnivores. The day I see a human born without cuspids or bi-cuspids (you know, those teeth used to tear meat with?) will be the day that I subscribe to veganism.

And until that day, I will happily chow down on the deer and elk once or twice a week that my husband shoots during hunting season. One elk lasts us over a year. Oh...and the occasional pork chop.
  • Just wondering
Do muslims think that dying from a viral disease that was created in a hog case you to go to hell and burn forever? Perhaps we have a new tool in our war on terror.
  • vegetarian=no disease?
PETA must either be full of idiots or think we are idiots, to suggest that eating plants would help avoid disease. Ever heard of the Irish potato famine? Sounds like plants are safe to me...
  • Pigs in Washington
Isn't there enough $hit in DC already?!
  • Meat Eater
If God didn't want us to eat animals why did he make them out of meat?
  • pigs
Why did Rosie O'Donnell come to mind as I was reading this story?
  • Pee-u-wee!
They don't need to set-up a real-life hog farm on the steps of the Capital to make it stink. The stench has been there for decades!
  • The only vegan I ever know died at 32 of ovarian cancer. So much for adopting a healthy lifestyle!!
  • RE: Protest
Is this a protest against pig farming or protesting Washington's pork barrel spending? The most that will come out of this is that Obama and Napolitano will come out saying that we will no longer describe governmental spending as "pork spending" as it is offensive to pigs. From now on it shall be known as "national enhancements programs".

Besides, isn't this a clear violation of their carbon footprint rights?
  • Torturing Animals to Save the Animals
I understand PETA's desire to make life in the White House a pain, but once again, their own actions undermine what they are trying to do.

They want to force 3 pigs to endure the smell of 3,500 lbs of manure and urine? That's more than those 3 would generate at anyone time. That's even more than you would probably find in an actual pig barn at any one time. They DO clean 'em out from time to time.

Seriously, they're torturing animals to make their point about torturing animals.

Once again, they fail to prove their point, but somehow manage to prove both their hypocrisy (by enslaving these pigs and by torturing them) and their idiocy.
  • PETA pig display
Some enterprising person should get a permit to put up a brat cart and sell hot ones nearby!

Fresh as can be, as you can see, HOT ONES!!!
  • I am a lifelong animal lover and also a devout carnivore. Man cannot sustain on tofu and wheat germ. Furthermore I have never known a vegan who did not look ten days short of death. PETA is an embarassment to many of us.
  • dang
RickinJax you beat me to it!!!
  • What about "plant's rights"?
And what about all those vegetarians who were sickened and killed by salmonella last year?

Sorry PETA; everyone already knows that the Capitol is an intellectual sludge pit inhabited by blood-sucking pigs. Trucking in actual swine and manure isn’t going to change anyone’s mind about that.
  • PETA AND THE SWINE FLU
If I saw undercover footage of Pelosi, I wouldn't be a vegetarian becuase I would never eat again.
  • Proud Member of PETA
I have been a long standing of PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals!

Love the pork, beef and chicken!
