'Tis the Season for Graduating and Commencing.   I'm sure you've heard some very thoughtful Commencement Speeches already this season....with wonderful thoughts about 'giving back', world peace, and "going green'.  Neal has never been invited to deliver his rendition of a commencement speech at an actual commencement ceremony.  So he took his rude, cold-hard-reality version of an inspiration speech and presented it for a big crowd at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

The speech will air today during the Information Overload Hour at 12noon EST.

Listen to it with your student or graduate.   It's a nice little audio lobotomy for them...and for you.

The little bit I heard was great. Hope you put it online so I can hear all of it. Thanks
  • COMMENCEMENT SPEECH
Get your bump in ratings by playing it on-air and then get that thing up on YouTube immediately.

Wait any longer you'll miss an opportunity. It's almost June for geezus sake!

How do you expect me to post it on my friends Social Networking pages this late in the game Neal?
  • Could the commencement speech be put online so I can download it? I can't listen online (streaming) nor can I listen to the radio at work.
  • A dose of reality
If students wait until commencement to be inspired, they are in trouble. If they want to draw something useful from their education and their speaker, have somebody like Neal give them a dose of reality. None of this flowery, lofty, "This is our time, this is our moment..." or " Ask not what your country can do for you..." Pat them on the back, encourage them to always try to achieve, but tell them the government is not their friend. Tell them they can do more for themselves by being smarter then the next guy, saying you work hard isn't enough. Let them know that the opportunity exists for everyone to excell, but they have to be willing to earn that and make the most of it. Remind them that one party didn't put this country in it's current state, both parties were guilty. Tell them to keep focused on their goals, but keep a wary eye on the federal government over the next 12 years. Then wrap it up with, "if all else fails, there's always radio..."
