This has a nice idea behind it! There's only one way to do it, that I can think of. If you own your own business, you can't close the doors, and let your business fail. God knows, you are probably neck deep in it now. Besides, how will this affect Congress? -Not at all. If we stop eating out, don't go to work, close our doors, etc., all it will do is hurt our employers and ourselves. How does the government get our money? => Payroll taxes, and Income taxes (the estimated amount you have taken off the top) I've already made war on the Fed gov't: by claiming 2 dependants, when I have none. I cut the amount they get from each of my checks WAY down, and still ended up owing little this year.
Now, remember that nice little thing Bill Clinton did for us? FMLA? If you take a week off, and your boss gives you vacation, the GOVT still gets their pork. BUT, if everyone takes a week or 3 off, for "personal medical issues", or, leave without pay, then there are NO payroll taxes and income taxes to collect. Several thousand, or indeed million, people doing this would cripple the tax collectors, as long as we also made a statement to them as to why it happened: "hey, notice that billion dollar shortage this month, mister G-MAN?"

The congressman complains about the companies taking taxpayer dollars and lining their own pockets, but he forgets that it was the congress that gave that money to the company. I'm not opposed to someone limiting pay, I'm just against the government doing this to what is still a PRIVATE company (regardless of how much money the government gave them). The government can set the pay for the military and federal employees, but not PRIVATE (albeit heavily mortgaged) companies.

That's the real sub-text of this conversation, salaries are only the beginning, eventually they (being the liberals in congress) will try to (and possibly succeed) further censor free speech.
