One of the Somali pirates is in New York right now facing charges. And I knew it, I just knew it ... it would only be a matter of time before the Pirate Mama would try to convince the world that her little Muslim thug is actually a good boy that just got caught on the in wrong crowd.

Pirate Mama wants Obama to pardon her son because he was "misled into joining a sea gang." Are you buying that, folks? Honestly, how misleading could it be? "Hey kid, do you wanna make some money? We are going to hijack some ships off the coast and plan to get some ransom money. You will get X share for helping. Are you in?"

Anyway, Pirate Mama says, "My son was influenced by other gangs. He only got into piracy 15 days before he was captured. He is very young and didn't know what he was doing is a crime." So her son is not responsible for the fact that he engaged in piracy. Oh and he didn't know what he was doing was a crime. You take guns, board a ship, hold the crew hostage and you don't know that's wrong? Somalia is beginning to sound like South Central LA.

You'll love this. One of the mothers of the Islamic goons who was shot to death by the Navy SEALS ... well .. this particular Pirate Mama wants compensation for her son's death. Yeah. She says, "Killing our sons was not the right decision. The U.S. has to pay the price for what they have done to us. There was another peaceful way of solving the crisis that would save both the captive and our children."

Do you hear that, folks? The US has to pay the price for the fact that this woman's son hijacked an US ship and held hostages, demanded ransom, etc. And now THEY are the ones crying out as victims. Unbelievable.

But hold on folks. In the age of Obama, who's to say we won't give this woman some money?

What others are saying

  • Teenage pirate
Yeah right. Where was the teenagers mama in watching over her kid or did she give her blessing with the hope of reaping some of the reward.
  • Do What
My question is who is going to pay for the pirates mommy to come to the US for the trail? Jackson, Wright, PBE PRESBO, NAACP, who? Also maybe the dead pirates mom should pay the ships captain for the mental anguish they caused him.
  • I HAVE THE SOLUTION
    Wanna stop the pirates?

Have a tea party! Send them "a message."

America didn't gain its independence until it stood up at Lexington & stood firm through Yorktown.

6+ years of sacrifice... not 1 day of self-congratulatory symbolism.
  • Poor kid caught up playin' pirate
I have a different take on this for a variety of reasons...

First, the flag of truce thing- we offered, he accepted, we are going back on our word. This is overseas, no legal jurisdiction (more on that in a sec), white flag truce agreements should be honored and mean something. If we didn't wish to honor the white flag agreement, we shouldn't have entered the agreement.

Second, If he turned evidence, was helpful, aided in the freeing of our citizen as has been reported, shouldn't we be rewarding this punk in some fashion (I admit I could be mistaken in this regard, but I was under the impression he was most helpful once away from his compatriots).

Lastly and most importantly- PRECEDENCE. I DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUNSTANCE want LAWYERS- be they JAG or otherwise- involved in taking down pirates (Terrorists are essentially pirates, or vice versa). These guys were on the high seas, they aren't citizens, why the trial? Let the military shoot them when they can. How is broadcasting to the Somali clans that "if caught, the US Taxpayer will afford you the best legal representation money can buy, and then provide you three hots and a cot for the rest of your life, with excellent health care" going to be any kind of deterrent?

Leave the courts out of this.
  • Site of news story
An article can be found at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8008835.stm
I am speachless about this. She'd fit right in in the New America. No personal responsibilty? That's OK, I'm sure it was our fault anyhow. Who should we make the check out to?
  • Your Kidding?
Can we bill the widows for the cost of the military operation. They want compensation? Please!
  • @ Jamey
Did you check the link Neal already put on the blog?
  • A New Shirt for Ya
The guys at Ranger Up have summed things up nicely: http://www.rangerup.com/navysealpirate.html.

As for the mothers of said pirates, the Russians have a saying: "Toughsky..."

Well, you can fill in the blank.
  • Mt. Dew and Moonpies
Anybody want to send those my way? I could get more use from them than anyone over there...
  • Compensation????
Does anyone have that woman's address? We'd love to send her a plugged nickel.
  • shoulda let him go
The Navy should have escorted this fine young, impressionable man back to downtown Skinnyville and turned him loose. The Skinnies would have taken care of him.

Instead we get to feed him for several years at the end of which he'll be eligible for release and instead of sticking him on a raft in the ocean, he'll apply for citizenship and welfare and get both.
  • Somali thugs/terrorists/pirates
Another day has passed without the USA acting against Somalian thugs/terrorists/pirates.

But the thugs/terrorists/pirates remain in full operation. How long before they take another one of our ships? And what do you think they will do with a US crew?

Every day this is allowed to continue is a day that every American crew member on every ship is at mortal risk.

Are we planning to act against them where it counts - i.e. where their boats are docked? Or are we waiting for Americans to join the nationals of so many other countries and become hostages - or be killed outright, which is what is specifically being threatened?

Are we waiting for the rest of the world to act? Are we waiting for the UN? What have they done through all the Somalian hijackings so far, besides nothing? What will they do if an American crew is taken, besides nothing?

The time is now. Right now.

Send in our planes. Send in our troops. Not to the cities, but to the ports and contiguous areas around them.

Wipe these bastards out. blow up every ship that cannot 100% prove it is not engaged in the pirate/thug/terrorism trade. Put them the hell out of business.

And when the countries whose people are being held hostage tell us that we're doing the wrong thing? Respond, firmly and decisively, that it is their unwillingness to act which caused the hostage situation, not our actions to protect US interests. Tell them that if we don't stop this right now, there will be more hostages, not less. It has to stop, and the sooner the better.

Then let them cry and moan about it. That, apparently, is the extent of their willingness to act.

This cannot go on any longer. Period.
  • My guess
My guess is that this boy will be spared because I think he has a good chance of being one of Obama's stepbrothers! Obama's daddy was the Kenyan version of Evander Holyfield and Travis Henry.
  • Pirate Ma
Pirate Ma: "Killing our sons was not the right decision. The U.S. has to pay the price for what they have done to us. There was another peaceful way of solving the crisis that would save both the captive and our children."

    - OMG I would love hypothetically for this situation to be reversed: Bare with me: "US pirates" go hijacking some legit Somolian merchant vessel. "Somolian Navy" (if there is such a thing) shoots, kills, and captures said US thugs. I'm SURE the Somolian government would more than happy to compensate the poor grieving US pirate moms for their losses...rrright. I just love how the rest of the uncivilized world always expects the US to be the nice guys regardless of the sure brutality they would show to such captives.
  • Compensation for Pirate's Death?
Can you provide an online link to this story Neal? I've been searching but haven't been able to find a reference to this story anywhere at any online news site.
  • He' a good boy
Neal i'll bet your mama told people "he's such a good boy it's his friends fault" when the word got out that you were a lawyer........
  • Snuggles - Mountain Dew/Moonpie Compensation
    AMEN!
  • Ms. Pirate Mom
doesn't give a flip about her 'son'. She's just in it for the money like most of our welfare fed baby factories. By the way, the 'pirate' admits to being 18 years old and not 15. Try the kidnapping thief and punish according to the crime. Then send the bill for the costs to his 'mommy'.
  • Words without meaning
Hey Stan, so what you saying is that Bush started the bailouts, Obama improved on them by giving out more money and its still Bush's fault? Next time practice in front of a mirror, you might be able to keep a stright face next time.

    And Copyleft,

nevermind, it would just be a waste. Can't help you when your stuck on stupid!

    AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER!
  • 'for the libs
First off, torture the little b!#t#rd to within inches of his worthless life to extract intel from him on his AHR pirate buddies.

Second, once he has been sufficiently beaten, take him over to Somalia for his moma to see him in person.

    Third, Hang him!

But realistically he will go thru our court system and be let off under a technicality. He will then have his own reality show (Buggery on the high seas) for all the libs to drool over. He will make more money than you could shake a stick at. He then will take this money back to Somalia and re-vamp his pirate boats with everything they need. See how that works. It's the "new" Amerikan way.
  • On Compensation
The SEAL team that zapped the goons should send the parents screaming for compensation a case of Mountain Dew and a box of Moonpies.
  • Harsh times call for harsh measures!

In my opinion the act of piracy can not be excused in any form.

Participants in this profession must be dealt with swiftly and harshly to set a precedent in the heads of their bretheren, and make them think twice about their destiny.

The only peaceful option would be to completely remove their mode of transportation in that corner of the earth.

A pirate without a ship is anything but a pirate.
  • mother/dog anology won't hunt
Aside from not excusing OJ's actions or blaming others, OJ's dog bears no responsibility for the people OJ killed.

John Wayne -- LOL @ chum bags comment
  • Hey Pondering
You're right; I wonder when someone plays the Race Card in this mess.
  • Somalia is at war with the US
As such, a sustained campaign of carpet bombing is in order. As long as they do not stem the tide of "piracy", a euphemism for jihad at best, then the people of Somalia are complicit and should suffer the consequences.

After their unconditional surrender, send in Robert Duvall - "Ali don't surf!" After all, they do have a lovely coastline.

    PS to Eve -
    Money will be paid...
  • He's innocent!
I love the logic this idiot is using - he was only a pirate for 15 days! So that makes it alright? So I can go rob banks, and as long as I don't do it for long, I'm innocent? That sounds like a concept liberals can embrace.
  • Pirate Mama and pay-off
How will we know if Obama does pay her off? Or I should say US govt using my tax dollars. Mainstream media won't track this.
  • somolia moms
    Neal,

The somolian mothers got the idea of compensation from their refugee associates in our country. I believe it is more than 100,000, somolian refugees are in our country; "remember the muslem holiday exchanged for labor day last year at tyson chickens?" Some are working and getting taxpayer welfare. Some are not working and get housing, food stamps, free medical, dental, electric and phone assistance; etc. The women have figured out that breeding like roaches ups their allotments and they don't have to work. Yes their being coached by the their own here and the bleeding heart liberal refugee lobbing advocates. Don't worry folks, he'll do some time in juvy hall, get in state tuition education, suck off the taxpayers, and then bless the liberals with his vote.
    Jamsey Comes Looking
  • Somali pirate
We have a mighty military force but we do not have the political will to use it.The UsSA is now being run by a gutless administration. We may not recover from these misdeeds like we did from Jimmy Carters. CHANGE! Obama and his puppeteers are just getting started. Another 100 days and this country will be gone as we once knew it. Enjoy the ride!
  • Where's "Pirate Daddy"?
OK, Pirate Mommy smells notoriety and money, and we'll probably see her on Oprah before the month is up. This leaves one question: Where in the hell is Pirate Daddy?
  • non-story
this is a non-story. Every mother will plead for her son, and people will always try to make money. What's the point of making it out to be more than it is? Obama's not gonna pardon anyone, and no money's gonna be paid, we all know that.
  • Hey, Stan, here's O!versight.
"As head of the TARP Congressional Oversight Panel, Elizabeth Warren has massively extended her mandate, using the office as a sort of forum for broad-ranging commentary on the financial crisis. Rather than tracking the expenditure of the funds, she’s increasingly using the oversight board to push her own ideas about what should be done with the banks. This is wildly inappropriate.”

    Link
  • Hmmmmmmm
Seems like certain ethnic groups react the same way no matter where they live eh?
  • Copy
The mother is shifting blame from her son to others. He needs to learn that there are consequences for his actions.

I'll have compassion on the children soldiers who are forced into fighting at 7 or 8 years of age. This pirate was 15 and knew full well what he was doing.
  • Attention Pirate Mamas. . .
. . .your lesson in this: raise Ninjas, not Pirates !!!
  • How to Deal With Pirates
Basically you take no prisoners. If you do capture one you sail into one of the ports where they have their hide-outs hang them from a yardarm and then tar them and leave them hanging from a gibbet at the port entrance like in olden times. Eventually you run out of pirates.

This whole thing is an outgrowth of the idea of “limited” warfare. You can’t have limited warfare if the enemy won’t observe the limits and what enemy would be foolish enough to do that? If we used that approach in WWII we would have lost. It is unfortunate that conflicts occur but losing them is a really bad option. Here is the only way to win:

“There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is to use the means at hand to inflict the maximum amount of wound, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum amount of time."

    - General George Patton

"Hit hard, hit fast, hit often"

    - Admiral William (Bull) Halsey

"You've got to kill people, and when you've killed enough they stop fighting."

    - General Curtis (Iron Ass) LeMay

"You don't hurt 'em if you don't hit 'em."

    - General Lewis "Chesty" Puller

If you find this unappealing and distasteful then get ready to live like a slave.
  • Pirate
Why on earth was this thug brought to the U.S. for trial? He didn't commit his "crime" (act of war) here. Give him a fair militairy tribunal, then hang him.
  • poor little pirates
Why are we bothering to bring those Muslim savages to the US for trial? Make them all shark bait.
  • Tragidy Springs Opportunity
It's a shame he didn't accidently fall into the water with several chum bags tied around his neck.

Somalia Pirate Shark Snacks - fortified with vitamin P in every bite!
  • Expect
Should we expect anything LESS than compensation? The president just finished up on two apology tours, so why not ride the wave and ask for payment?
  • Copy
Don't be stupid, like DG said, they have been coached. The manner of speech does not fit.

    Maybe your momma coached them.
  • I shouldn't be surprised
This victim mentality is getting out of hand.
    Makes me sick.
  • Muse the Pirate
US Code: Title 18, Chapter 81, s1651. Piracy under law of nations

"Whoever, on the high seas, commits the crime of piracy as defined by the law of nations, and is afterwards brought into or found in the United States, shall be imprisoned for life."

There you go, no breaks for being a minor in the application of this law.
  • Pirate Mamas
Spare the us the torture of screaming idiot mothers and shoot them
  • More outrage
It's just HORRIBLE that a prisoner's mother would defend her son, isn't it? I mean, where are this woman's priorities?

She should be waving a sign saying "Kill My Boy!"

I can't wait for Neals' next bit of earth-shaking news... like "O.J.'s Dog Still Wags His Tail for Master."
  • pirates ransom
Maybe we can demand a ransom..I mean "compensation" from the families of these pirates to compensate for the expense this "inocent child" has cost. We demand that much from our own young citizens when they fall in with the wrong crowd and break the law. If this is not acceptable then maybe the chinese method of a bullet in the head and then bill the family for the bullet? Harsh maybe, but considering maritime laws still allow pirates to be hung on the spot of capture, maybe not.
  • Pirates and Pardons
If 14 and 15-year old US citizens are tried as adults for crimes of conspiracy to murder, the least this "minor" pirate should get is the same kind of justice - no more, no less.
  • Oh yeah, and...
    "save our CHILDREN"??????

    F the "children".
  • Where to start?
Yes, a loudmouthed "mama" squalling about wanting money while raising a thug....y'know that DOES sound like South Central LA, or most of DeKalb County.
  • Pirate's Mom
She probably will also say he was on the Pirates' High School Football Team and it could mess up his chances of getting a scholarship. That for sure will get him off.
  • Pirate Mama
    That'll work!
Let's believe what his Mom says and forget justice.
Watch us drop the ball on this one.
  • Stan
Remember that, when she DOES get compensation.

Oh and TARP Two belongs to Obama. Still no oversight. They both screwed us, wake up and quit taking up for that clown!
  • Coaching
I'd like to know who is coaching these "Pirate Mamas" to make these statements and demands. These aren't women from New York, these are women from SOMALIA! They aren't educated, sophisticated women - or even women raised in the culture of government handouts like American women. So who is behind the big publicity tour these women are on, coaching them to make demands of the American government?

Also, is it true that there was talk of trying this pirate kid as a juvenile? Isn't there some sort of "law of the seas" that requires a specific punishment for piracy?
  • Pirates
They should hang the little thief, like they did in days of old.
  • Piracy
I repeat what I said earlier. Kill them all at sea and Arclight bomb two of the towns that send them out. Admiralty Law covers both acts as Somalia does not have a government controlling the country. Killing
pirate mamas would be icing on the
    cake!
  • Great Idea!
Hey, I know! In four years when a new administration gets in office, lets launch an investigation into this. We'll see if there was another way to handle it. Then we'll charge Obama (who made the "in"decision to go ahead) with war crimes.
  • rats breed more rats
We should also blow away the pirate mamas, considering they're going to each give birth to 5 or 6 more pirates (just a suggestion).
  • Not getting anything
Obama isnt going to give these people any money. However if it was Bush he would give them a bailout w/ no oversight.
