SHARPTON VERSUS ARPAIO ... MY BET IS ON THE SHERIFF

Race pimp Al Sharpton is at it again. This time he is making his way over to Maricopa County, Arizona. His latest battle cry is over Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has been a guest on my show. Sheriff Joe is doing his best to enforce immigration laws in his city, and Al Sharpton wants none of it. In fact, Sharpton is calling for Sheriff Joe's resignation or removal.

Al is accusing Sheriff Joe of racially profiling Hispanics. He says, "I am first calling for the resignation and or removal of Sheriff Arpaio ... harassment based on color is nothing short of racial profiling, which many of us ... helped to fight to make against the law." Well .. an interesting take from this overblown race pimp. The people invading our country are from South of the border. It just happens that their skin is, for the most part, a bit darker than that of white Americans. Sharpton, who wants to increase the non-white numbers in this country as much as possible, uses the fact that the people staging the invasion are darker skinned to scream racial profiling. This lying sack of bloviating bull squeeze would probably require that Arpaio target an equal number of whites in Southern Arizona in his search for illegals.

Oh there's more. Sharpton says, "Arpaio needs to be confronted, he needs to be removed. ... We also need to suspend the law that he is using. We must stand with our brown brothers and sisters."

Wait a minute! Isn't the very phrase "brown brothers and sisters" racial profiling?

Will someone please tell me who takes Al Sharpton seriously anymore?

What others are saying

  • Okay
First of all, this stuff about them being "BAD" is stupid. They're not in jail to be tortured so we can feel tough, and abuses against them are as criminal as against anyone else.

And Arpaio isn't just making it unpleasant. He is making his prisons abusive, unsafe, and more third world than American.

And this "coddling" nonsense is made up. We do not have a problem with excessively nice prison; it just doesn't exist.

Now, you asked me to cite my sources:

FBI crime rate statistics will show that crime has gone way up under Arpaio.

Many of Arpaio's abuses are a matter of public record as they've been sued over it, and lost.

And Arpaio's proudly declared some of his crimes.

The Pheonix New Times has been aggressive in reporting the crimes committed by Arpaio. Along with beating people to death, he's refused care to pregnant women and diabetics.

Other newspapers have reported on the conditions as well. Even a British newspaper, the guardian, ran a story.

Amnesty International and the ACLU, as well as other local civil rights groups, have examined the prisons. Of course, you'd probably rather believe the words of Mr. Arpaio.

Arpaio isn't in prison because A. police officers are rarely punished for abuses, B. most of the investigations were under the Bush administration who had no interest in civil rights, C. most of the investigations have focused on racism rather than outright abuse (Arpaio is guilty of both), D. The local government has paid millions in settlements to protect Arpaio.
  • ACORN Mouthpiece
Lou Dobbs had him and the "CEO" for ACORN on his show last night talking about this very subject. Just my observation but, look like an audience by Al to be their new spokesman. OBTW Lou was quick to break it off in...when the "CEO" went out of bounds with her comments.
  • Sharpton
Who still takes Sharpton seriously? Far too many blacks who've gone from being slaves of the white man to endentured slaves of the government they put in place to help them be free.
  • shriff versa sharpten
I see pink underware in his future and camping out and bologna sandwich.
  • Cut Al some slack
I like the guy, every time I see a new's story and say to myself That I've never heard anything so stupid you can bet that pretty soon thr rev. Sharpton will top it ! He's nothing but a stand up comic in my book
  • arpaio critic... LOL
I love the comment about Arpaio's tent cities being cruel. Whoever wrote that needs to take a quick history/civics lesson.
First Joe is elected to the position. He has been re-elected numerous times, so obviously the majority of the people in Maricopa county (which is one of the largest counties in the nation) like what he is doing. (that's the civics part)
Now onto Joe's actions. Sure Joe is a self aggrandizing attention hound. The one thing about him that people like about him is he's not afraid to enforce the laws.
Tent cities were established because when he took over as the big boss, there was serious overcrowding in the prison. A liberal judge ordered him to fix it. Joe confounded the judge by going out and buying the tents and fences and cots, etc. The judge wanted the CRIMINALS to go free. Joe thought differently. When namby-pamby wusses complained that it was "cruel", Joe simply pointed out that we have soldiers currently serving in the middle east, where the temps are hotter, living in the exact same tents sleeping on the exact same cots, and asked the judge, why should CRIMINALS be treated better than the VOLUNTEERS protecting them.

Joe simply wants the prisons to be PRISONS.. some place you dont want to be. He always says, if you don't want to go to jail, don't break the law...

In most instances you have a choice of going to jail... just choose to not be a CRIMINAL
  • Sharpton
Tell me. Did Tawana Brawley racially profile her fictious rapers? When she was exposed as a fraud, did Sharpton or any of her cohorts apologize to the accused? Would it have been considered "white" of him if he did?
  • Lent Visor...
Please cite your sources, as I just did a paper on Uncle Joe and your comments couldn't be further from the truth. I am a native of Arizona and supported Joe the entire time I was there, along with what was then a large majority. The sheriff has broken no laws. He's been scrutinized under the most high-powered microscope, so if what you say is true then why is he not in prison? Granted, some of the people he houses are not able to afford bail and have not been convicted, but in most cases have been arrested for the umpteenth time. The inmates actually request chain-gang duty so that they can get away from the monotony of the jail. See Lent, these people don't go to jail for volunteering for their child's preschool class. They're there because they are BAD. They've done something WRONG. They are being PUNISHED. I was married to a serial offender and believe me, had he ever been in Joe's jail he wouldn't have wanted to go back. This guy has the right idea even if the rest of the country does not. If you break the law you go to jail - and you're not coddled while you are there. Besides, as Joe says, we have troops in 130+ degree weather defending our country and living in tents. If they can do it, these dirtbags can do it.
  • I am "latino"... and I SUPPORT OF MR. ARPAIO
I understand why so many people from all over the world want to come to America. Unlike what some liberals believe NOT to be true, I know THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. I do not state this because someone radio talk show host said so. I say it because I have experienced it, I have seen it, and I have lived it. This country is so wonderful, that even a broke immigrant kid like me was able to pay his way through college as a blue collar worker and achieve his goal of becoming a physician. Who could even imagine?!... That in this unfair world, where only the friends of those in power can become wealthy, there could be a country/place where through hard work and persistence anyone, ANYONE! could achieve his goals and fulfill his dreams.

However, this dream is SLIPING AWAY! because "American" politicians like Sharpton are using "banana republic" tactics in order to benefit from political gain. Now defending the sovereignty of OUR NATION and obeying the law is seen by "3rd world politicians" like Sharpton as going against human rights. Now those who follow OUR LAWS are described as “racists.”

Sharpton is playing the same racial card tactic that many old Washington insiders have used on “minorities.” Well, I am here to tell all of you (Ricky Ricardo accent and all) that I am not a minority. I do not need anyone to “take care of me.” And sure as hell, I do not need an opportunist like Sharpton to “defend” me. All I need is for the LAW to be followed, and I can do the rest. Thousands of other accomplished and self-reliant latinos share my views. Unfortunately though, they are not as many as I would like.

Do I believe that there is a need for IMMIGRATION REFORM… Sure! But not at the expense of our legal system. The same legal system that made the USA what up until a few years ago used to be. The opportunities and goods of this country (the few that will be left after European/LatinAmerican socialism is done with America) should be enjoyed by those who PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE to this land and its laws, and not just to anyone.

It tears me apart to see how this wonderful experiment called USA is slowly fading away. The land of independence, of self reliance, of law, is progressively changing into the socialist, limited, mediocre, chaotic, DEPENDENT, and broke place that I escaped 15 years ago. There is only one difference… this time there is nowhere else to go. I apologize for the length of this, now, letter. I just have been quiet for too long. NOT ANY MORE!
  • I've always wanted to ask Sharpton this question.
During the 60s, when black churches were being bombed and whites were stopped and searched at the doorways to those churches before they could enter, was that racial profiling?

And, if so, was it wrong?
  • King Obama
Sharpton and Jackson better get in all the licks they can because when Obama is kicked out of office he will then be crowned king of black America for the rest of his life. And Jackson and Sharpton are out.
  • Arpaio
I guess that Arpaio is an old Irish surname, right? Does he have red hair and freckles?
  • Gavin?
    Is that you? Bravo!

Oh Matt, yes Joe is anti-drugs, but if the laws were changed he would support them even if he disagreed with them. So you can feel good about supporting Joe. Just get the drug laws changed.
  • Arpaio
Sometimes, it amazes me what people are willing to defend without understanding it. I guess people generally think Arpaio is "tough on crime" or something, but really he's just a violent and abusive scumbag.

It is not okay to mistreat prisoners. If you don't believe that, quite frankly, you are a sick person who doesn't belong in a first world society. And Mr. Arpaio goes far beyond mistreatment. He ensures the conditions in his jail is absolutely unbearable and utterly humiliating. Many prisoners are in 120 degree plus tents outside with only minimal and rotten food. Others face health hazards, infestation, and enforced unsanitary conditions.

He's also been complicit in the murder of several prisoners, and these are murders, by guards. In addition to violent murders by the guards, there's been many cases of guards sitting by while prisoners died of medical conditions (many of which were induced by the conditions at the jail). He also generally does everything he can to facilitate violence amongst prisoners, including homicide and suicide.

He's allowed his officers to terrorize people in their homes, including the wanton killing of family pets.

And no, Arpaio is not enforcing immigration law. His assembled thugs, from inside and outside his police force, are actively harassing hispanic families.

He's also harassed any reporters trying to reveal what he's doing.

And no, it's not good enough to say that they just shouldn't have committed a crime. We live in a civilized country where cruel and unusual punishment is banned. We don't have jails so we can satisfy sociopathic desires for revenge. And many of his victims have been innocent of any crime.

And with all of that, prisoners from Arpaio's jail are no less likely to re-offend than they were under the previous Sheriff. He's also costed the taxpayers millions to compensate his victims. And crime has gone up under his watch. Beyond being a criminal, he's an utter failure.

Arpaio deserves to be in a jail as bad as his own. Morally, however, he should spend the rest of his life in a humane one.
  • Wasn't going to
I tried to keep from commenting on this ridiculous subject, but couldn't get it off my mind. The rest of my day will be shot if I don't do it, so here goes.
Al Sharpton is the embodiment of the problem that continues to enslave African-Americans. Maxine Waters and Cynthia McKinney are included as well. African-Americans have got to choose better leaders if they are ever going to be considered seriously. It's enough to make you believe in the racial bell curve.
  • Al
Is it wrong to wish some people would just disappear like sharpton or jesse jackson?
  • To Neal
Neal asks: "Will someone please tell me who takes Al Sharpton seriously anymore?"

How about FoxNews which is constantly giving this con man, charlatan, race pimp and murderer free air time, stroking his ego and keeping this nobody propped up. Ask O'Reilly and Hannity, among others, why they persist in legitimizing this fraud.
  • @dutch...
Please don't mention "Sharpton" and "underwear" in the same sentence! Oh, my mental eyes, my mental eyes!!!
  • @Alex...
"Or should we offer a free pass to everyone who isn’t “white”?"

Yes. For the last 40 years or so.
  • public officials responsibilities
I would advise Sheriff Joe to ignore the ignor-anus. I don't think Bad Bad Joe needs my advice.
  • Thanks Sheriff Joe
I am an immigrant rather than an illegal. Thank you for standing up for immigrants and help to make our efforts at following the rule of law worth something. Sharpton is a moron. Why doesn't he head over to Darfur if he wants support the idea of lawlessness.
  • Would it be a crime ...
Would it be a crime to throw a cream pie at AL Sharpton? Or maybe a shoe?
Maybe Sharpton would get arrested if he uses his trademark megaphone. You know, laws on noise pollution.
  • "Will someone please tell me who takes Al Sharpton seriously anymore?"

    Don Imus
  • @By Paul @ 04/08/09 09:56:22 AM
If only it were that simple! It was just a few years ago that Al ran Don Imus off the air for making a joke. He threatens to boycott because people out there follow him. Ignoring Al Sharpton isn't enough. He should be stopped. Arrested on false charges, deported, duct taped to a flag pole.

Sheriff Joe won't give him an inch. I hope not. Bad enough that Imus and his station cowered before this self-interested bully but it be a lot worse if the good sheriff did.

Impossible, right? He tells Big Al to pound sand and that's that?
  • Sheriff Arpaio
Where can I write the sheriff to tell him I support all he does and wish heartily there were about a thousand more of him!
  • Arpaio is wrong for AZ
This issue aside, I have my disagreements with Arpaio on his drug policy stance. He is one of the more outspoken supporters of the War on Drugs. This idiot sherrif actually said that the fact that more people are going to jail and for longer periods of time is actually proof that we are winning the drug war. I have a problem with anyone who supports locking people up for smoking a little pot.
  • my buddy al
    neal
leave al alone! don't you realize he has been trying to get negros into the main stream job market? if he would take over as sheriff of maricopa county he would save the tax payers money. how could that happen? the department would collapse under his leadership. no more deputies, no patrol cars, no jails, no spending.
the down side is the pissant criminals would be in control, but maybe osamabama could take time from his 5 times a day prayers and bailout al.
  • Al Not-so-sharpton
Yeah, I can tall you who takes Al Sharp[ton seriously. The nimrods who were stupid enough to vote for B. Hussien Nobama. That's about, what, 60% of the country?

It's finally happened. The dumbest people in America now outnumber the sane. By a LONGSHOT!
  • Sheriff Joe - The Good Guy
Saying there is racial profiling in AZ because there are more Hispanics in jail is like going to Africa and saying there is racial profiling because there are too many blacks in the jails -- But like someone said earlier, Ol' Al just doesn't have anything to do now that Obama is in the White House.
  • Al - I can't even call this guy a "Reverend"
"Will someone please tell me who takes Al Sharpton seriously anymore?"

    Uh...his "brown brothers and sisters?"
  • Sheriff Joe
I live in Gilbert and heard on the radio a Phoenix Policeman tell the Mayor to shut up about the BS on racial profiling because when the police pull over cars that are speeding they have no idea who is driving due to the tint on the cars here in AZ. QUIT BREAKING THE LAW AND YOU WONT GET IN TROUBLE. Seems so simple, but if you have the "handout, whoa is me, you owe me, I deserve more while I sit on my a$$ mentality", I guess you just have to cry about something.

Sharpton and his goons should know we love Sheriff Joe here in AZ and will support him in his efforts to enforce the LAW.
  • Al Sharpton
Isn't the first thing most jails do to prisoners-- shaving their heads?

Al will be on the first plane out of Phoenix.
  • Go Joe Go!
Sharpton is proof that liberalism trumps Darwinism every time. Gimme yo' money, fool! That's the only way these people survive. Otherwise, they'd be extinct.
  • Al is running out of things to do.
With a black man being elevated to the highest office in America, what is there left for a race pimp to do?
  • Sharpton
Maybe Al can go after someone else. Here's an idea, Planned Parenthood. After all, they were created by a bigot who's idea was to put Planned Parenthoods in low income areas to help decrease the minority population through preventing births and natural attrition. Or maybe turn the mirror on himself for his bigotry. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Just let good people work. Sheriff Joe's ideas are working. Leave him alone you bigot.
  • Sheriff Joe
If they are stupid enough to remove him for any reason, Atlanta needs to hire him.
  • Al Sharpton
As long as people like this get recognition, they are a success. It's like an annoying sibling, if you can ignore their taunts and jibs they will give up, but as soon as you respond the attack increases.

You ask if anybody takes him seriously, but every time he speaks you respond.

I would surmise the end of Al Sharpton will occur when nationally sindicated talk radio show hosts, and national news agencies no longer report on his actions.
  • Joe vs Al
Hope Al remembers he is not in Atlanta when he starts with Joe. Joe will have him in handcuffs and checking him into his new cell where he belongs. Al is a lawbreaker and criminal. His criminal actions are not accepted everywhere.
  • Sharpton & Arpaio
Wouldn't it be a hoot if the Sheriff arrested the race pimp; and incarcerated him - complete with pink underwear! That would be worth watching!
  • Campaign Against Joe
Sharpton's is of course the first one to run to a camera and claim “we are victims!” The real ones to watch are the folks in groups like ACORN that understand that Sheriff Joe Arpaio only got less than 56% of the votes in 2008 and by “creatively recreating” the registered voting population, he can be defeated during the next election.
  • Racial profiling
I suppose if the suspect for any kind of crime is a person of color the cops need to check out an equal number of whites as a matter of fairness. These are the folks that get offended when someone mentions Brownie Points.
  • Sheriff Joe
Al Sharpton is out of his league here. Joe is used to being investigated and has come out clean every time ( including our new Homeland Security director's Janet Napalitano'stab at it.)
Sharpton doesn't like it because he is doing the peoples will (74% of the vote in the last election). Have to love a guy who gives the prisoners pink undies to stop theft, puts them up in tents (in the desert, no AC, cruel & unusual punishment) and feeds them thin meat sandwiches unless they pay for more.
Maybe if sharpton was more worried about all the illegals taking masons (insert trade here) ( and yes blacks were the best masons in my area of the country until they were priced out of the market)we wouldn't be laughing so hard at this moronic tirade!
  • Al vs Big Joe
Hopefully, Big Joe can find a reason to detain Al(Notso)Sharpton in AZ for a while. Perhaps aiding and abetting a criminal enterprise.
  • Diarrhea of the mouth
Has Al Sharpton ever said anything relevant? God forbid we have someone in this country that abides by the laws of the land by turning away or arresting those who have done their best impression of destroying our home. Maybe Al can visit all the state prisons, hospitals, and welfare lines to take a look and see how ILLEGALS are draining our economy. Tax payers shell out enough money for these people to continuously break the law. Does it matter what color your skin is if you break the law? Or should we offer a free pass to everyone who isn’t “white”?
  • Great come back, Sheriff...
Great come back, Sheriff...(qouted in the article) Can't wait for round 2.

I'm never going to resign," he said. "The guy is living in a fantasy land if he thinks he is going to pressure me into anything. He doesn't even know where Arizona is."
  • I'd like to be a fly on the wall.....
...and hear Sheriff Joe put a major smackdown on weird Al Sharpton. Sharpton would never know what hit him. Can you imagine the look on Al's face if Arpaio admitted to profiling Hispanics, and added that he likes to profile blacks too? Of course it's not true, but Sheriff Joe is just the kind of guy to blurt it out. If a large number of Hispanics are getting arrested, it's because a large number of them are commiting crimes. Duh.

    You go, Joe !!!
  • other criteria
If you recognize that they can't understand English, would that be considered profiling as well?
  • Race pimp Sharpton
I think a bigger point was missed about Sharpton's comment. "we ned to suspend the law he is using."? Um, if its the law he is using, why would anyone expect or ask for his resignation or removal? Duuuh! Sharpton is an idot!!
