Our home state of Georgia is having a little brouhaha right now over proposed legislation that would require that new drivers take a written license test in English. Why should there be an argument over this? Aren't the traffic signs in English?

Speaking of Georgia, Michael Vick .... yeah, the guy is going to work construction when he gets out of prison. I'm calling BS on this one. You let me know when he drives his first nail.

Looks like PrezBO's scheme for a global warming tax has hit some rough waters. Maybe some of the folks in congress are ready to admit that this whole thing is a money-grabbing scam.

A federal judge says that US civilian courts will be able to handle the cases of Gitmo detainees. That's just great. Give these terrorists access to the U.S. judicial system and our Constitution.

Guess who is still going to have his hand in government healthcare reform? Tom Daschle. And here's how.

Meanwhile, Democrats in Washington are trying to come up with a compromise on government healthcare reform. Democrats? Compromise?

The Heritage Foundation explains how the 2009 energy bill is anti-market and anti-consumer.

How are the auto companies going to survive under a European-style government at American tax rates? The answer is that some aren't going to make it.

The Washington Times says that Obama's trip to Europe is causing a lot of strain on the Air Force, which has had to compensate by hiring foreign contractors to help resupply troops in Afghanistan. Question: Did these foreign contractors get the work without a bidding process? Under Bush that would have caused quite a stir.

Republicans in Alaska want to redo the election for the Senate seat that was barely won by Democrat Mark Begich over Republican Ted Stevens. Know what? I agree with them. Stevens was screwed over by the Justice Department and a Democrat U.S. Attorney.

Right now Hillary and others are up in arms over the number of US guns being used in Mexico. But are 90% of guns used in Mexico actually coming from the United States? This is a bit tricky ... all is not what it seems. But that is certainly what the media would like you to believe.

A college student in Utah thought it would be real cute to run up auction prices on oil and gas parcels. He'll learn his lesson as he is now facing 10 years in prison and a $750,000 fine.

Obama has officially chosen his census director ....... If you want an honest count this isn't the guy.

Afghanistan has legalized rape. That's the peaceful religion of Islam for you.

A federal judge has barred the district attorney of Wyoming County, Pa. from prosecuting three teen girls on felony child pornography charges for "sexting" nude photos of themselves.

Which state loses a family every 12 minutes?

"Sometimes that's why we get sick, because the Lord is spanking us for being naughty." Getting reports that this site is throwing up corporate NSFW warnings. The image this clicks through to is not dirty. Can't speak for other stuff hosted on the root site.

What others are saying

  • Drivers license tests
If proponents of SB 67 (English-only license examinations in GA) are able to provide evidence suggesting that SB 67 will provide a statistically significant reduction in traffic fatality rates, I will wholeheartedly support their legislation. My suspicion, however, is that the true intention of the bill is not to reduce traffic fatalities, but rather to increase their political capital within a significant portion of their constituency. Nothing new here; politically popular legislation has always superceded effective (however unpopular) legislation. As someone mentioned previously, the problem with SB 67 is that it comes coupled with costly latent consequences; it will likely siphon Georgia's already limited taxpayer resources toward enforcing license and insurance laws, and increase the number of uninsured drivers in the state. The costs associated with having a significant portion of the population driving around uninsured and probably judgement-proof will be astronomical.
  • Driver's License Tests
I have had the great opportunity to travel the world over and live in several different countries among people of many cultures. In all of these places I lived, I had to learn enough of the local language if I needed a driver's license or any type of government action/service. One locality I found took "fee payments" to ensure that I would get any license I wanted. I left that country the next week.

Would the non-english speakers in the U.S. also be complaining of civil rights and human rights violations if they were subjected to language requirements in their home countries?
  • Ted Stevens
"Republicans in Alaska want to redo the election for the Senate seat that was barely won by Democrat Mark Begich over Republican Ted Stevens. Know what? I agree with them. Stevens was screwed over by the Justice Department and a Democrat U.S. Attorney."

People in America want to redo the election for the Presidential Office that was barely won by Republican George Bush over Democrat Al Gore. Know what? I agree with them. Gore was screwed over by the Florida Secretary of State and a Republican controlled company called Choicepoint.
  • Why English Only Drivers License Will NOT Work
"Either she wouldn't have been able to get to work or go grocery shopping or visit me and our parents, or she would have driven anyway without a license and without insurance," Lim said. There's your answer Georgia......SHE WOULD HAVE DRIVEN WITHOUT INSURANCE.....people who would do that do not respect out laws (and authority)and should not be in this country and yet they are. We as a nation will not punish people for disobeying our laws when it is easier to just accomodate them. As JoeSchmoe said, anyone caught without a license should face severe penalties, but they won't be. These people will drive without a license and the incidents of accidental deaths, hit and runs will skyrocket.
  • Traffic Signs
Yes, traffic signs are in English, but the shapes are international shapes. Red hexagons are always stop, regardless of the language of the stop sign. Stuff like that. You should, however, be able to speak enough English to deal with law enforcement. Truckers have to deal with it, so should normal drivers.
  • "Sexting" Prosecutions
This is a difficult area. Back in 2004, I spent 4 months on a Grand Jury in Ohio. We had a few child porn cases, none involving minors as the perps. As easy as it to say that sending pictures to minor classmates or friends is harmless, as some want to say, what happens when adults intercept ths photos and start selling them? Are the senders then criminally liable, even if their intent was to keep the photos among a slect group? What about a minor friend who passed them to a 18 year old adu;t? These are questions that are going to have to be answered in the criminal codesof the states, and soon.
  • Pic of Jesus spanking a kid?
OMG...that was borderline sick. A pic of Jesus spanking a kid with HER drawers down. I'm not a christian, but I'd be raising 20 kinds of hell over that one if I was...Jesus punishing you by making you ill. What kind of sh*t is that to teach a kid???

That is just sick and twisted, not to mention almost child porn. That about made me ill.
  • Mexico-guns
Ah...so here's where they start making the big push to take my guns.

They won't get mine...and is there still time for me to run out and get an AR15? Before they decide it looks too scary and institute another ban?
  • I know you say driving is not a right, but...
Our society is now built on the individuals ability to travel long distances in short amounts of time. Without a drivers license you deprive people of the ability to keep a job or even buy food. Driving may not be a right, but what is the alternative? The US Public transportation system is mostly non-existent.

The roads are public for a reason. Even if we walk on them they are public right of way to keep people off your private property.

An alternative would be the type of cars people could drive with a license. If you can't pass a drivers test you're stuck in a car with a governor set at 30 mph. If you pass you could get a heavier/faster car.
  • The in English drivers test is going to backfire.
Not only will they be able to take the drivers test in Spanish. All Georgia state road signs and national road signs will now be bi-lingual and written in English and Spanish.

Way to pick your battles GA. You just cost us billions in tax dollars.
  • Driver's license tests
I had the misfortune of living in The People's Republic of California for four years. When I went to the DMV to get my CA license I had to take a three page multiple choice test. Lots of questions about which way to turn your wheels when parallel parked on a steep hill, etc.

The state offers the test in something like 27 different languages.

I happened to be in a stall next to a Hispanic woman taking the test in Spanish. The test was one sheet of paper, front and back, and was comprised of large images of street signs and traffic lights with a few choices below.
  • Rape
Someone wrote: "In the US, is not marriage a legal defense to a charge of rape?"

That's a feminist anti-heterosexual marriage myth. Not true.

You can TRY and make that a defense, but it doesn't work anymore.

    -
  • Access to the Constitution
The detainees were capture in a war zone possibly taking action against our troops. If they weren't in uniform, and they most likely weren't, the Geneva Convention doesn't even afford them POW status.

In fact, they have most often been considered spys and saboteurs and were typically just shot on the spot.

As such, they have no rights and should consider themselves lucky to be afforded a military tribunal.
  • Afgan's
C'mon now. The Afgan law also says the man has to give it up once every four months. Isn't that the same thing, but the other way around? Woman can rape the man three times a year? You know why the women have to wear burka's don't you! ; )
  • Spanking
Now THAT'S my idea of a stern but loving God! Much better than fire, locusts and plague, don't you think?
  • GA Drivers
By the time the ACLU is done with Georgia all the road signs will be in sixty or more languages.
  • Spanked by Jesus
May want to indicate that the parent site for the image is NSFW.
  • Spanking
Be careful with that spanking link. That website is not safe for work.

You have been warned. Now I'll probably get fired.
  • Up North
If Alaska had wanted a different Republican, it could have chosen one in the primaries. The man was a huge porker; we don't need any more of those in congress right now.
Granted, I haven't gone and dug up which evidence wasn't given to the defense team (has anyone seen any articles which actually mention that part?), but I'm not conviced that the former senator did not occasionally take trips on the far side of ethical and then talk on the phone about how there'd never be any punishment for what he was doing.
  • The “90% of guns used in Mexico” Big LIE
    Hitlary,
The dial tone in your head is getting louder.
When the stamping on the gun reveals it is made in a country other that the US, it didn't come from here.
It means you are still ignorant as ever.
    Go bake some cookies.
  • Mexico - Guns
"90% of guns used in Mexico", gee when did we start exporting so many AK47 rifles? This is another “more people are killed by coconuts” questionably manufactured and manipulated statistic. In fact the REAL question is how many of the guns used in the commission of violent crimes in US Border States ARE smuggled into the US from Mexico?
  • Drivers license in English?
If you can't understand English, you cannot know our traffic laws.
    Stay off the highways.
    Take the bus.
    Enough said.
  • Access to our Constitution
Only a complete fool (e.g., Neal Boortz) would believe that just because our government is carrying out operations overseas, it need not follow the Constitution. Our government was created by the Constitution and has no powers except those granted by the Constitution. To say that it may ignore the Constitution in its dealings outside of the United States is absolute insanity.
  • No Friday Video??
Come on Neal! Its Friday! Don't leave us in a slump for the weekend!
  • State losing a family every 12 minutes
It doesn't surprise me that Michigan is hurting. The taxes are atrocious, the government is almost as corrupt as Chicago, and they've been unable to attract businesses to replace the auto industry that long since decided to pull away. It's an interesting socio-economic lesson in action.
  • RE: jim - Are you insane!?!?!?!
Jim, your sadly, sadly mistaken. Have you not been reading the news of the last 20 years? Husbands have been easily convicted of raping thier wives in just about every state in the nation. Rape is rape, no matter the relationship. Climb out of the 18th centruy, please.
  • New Census Director plans to count all illegal aliens
On the same link on Nealz Nuze, was a piece on how this new director plans to count all illegal aliens, ultimately affecting the representation afforded each state. States with more illegals will get more representation in the U.S. House. This is nuts!
    http://www.cnsnews.com/public/Content/Article.aspx?rsrcid=46021
  • The “90% of guns used in Mexico” Big LIE
    From the article:

There's just one problem with the 90 percent "statistic" and it's a big one:
    It's just not true.
In fact, it's not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

    What a Surprise!

Isn't Everything in the Demon-fascist agenda based on a LIE?
  • Census Idiots
If AT&T can tally millions of American Idol votes every week with text messages, then you'd think the Blackberry wielding, text messaging POTUS could get an accurate population count without spending $250M on "outreach".
    Your Address:
    Number of People Living there:
That's a pretty small web page. Legal Residents only please.
If you live in GA, text your response to 888-555-GOGA ... something like that.
Or ... just ask the cell phone companies, google, and yahoo what the population is. They probably already know.
  • rape
Years ago a man could not be charged with rape for having sex with his wife in the usa.
  • Ga driving tests.
I'm sick to death of this pandering to illiterates and illegals. Driving in this country is a priviledge and to be licensed one should be 100% qualified. Not being literate enough to read road signs and warnings in english is not 100% qualified. In addition, any illegals, and there are many I'm sure, that are caught driving without a valid drivers license and insurance should be immediately deported. If they are caught due to a traffic 'accident' and injure or kill someone then they should face the same penalty as any murderer. Actually, ANYONE caught without proper licensure involved in an accident should face very stiff penalties including life in prison or the death penalty when warranted.
  • English DL testing
Like the idea and it makes sense--but beware of unintended consequences...like more unlicensed drivers, more uninsured drivers (need to be licensed to get insurance), and more hit-and-runs.
  • drivers test in English
What's the problem? Every truck driver with a license issued in one of the 50 states took the tests in English. FHWA rules state all CDL holder must read and write English. It should be extended to all (I won't call them drivers) license holders. Driving is a privilage, not a right.
  • Afghan rape law
In the US, is not marriage a legal defense to a charge of rape ?
  • Sextings
Where are these pictures? I want to judge them for myself.
  • Student obstructing land auction
So Mr. DeChristopher is 27 and still a college student. Sounds like his education is working out real well.
  • America is less safe under Obama
It seems that with Obama/Holder wanting to release known persons, that want to do harm to the US and to Americans, to the US justice system, that he has just made America a much more dangerous place.

First many of these guys will be set free on technicalities because or the rules of evidence gathering. (For your government school types that loathe the military out there, intel is gathered to keep your troops alive and to defeat the enemy. It's primary use is not for judicial proceedings.)

Second, these guys once they get out will collect intel on America and use that for an attack on the US while they are inside the country.

However I don't think that this matters to the American populace since all they want to do is to see their American Idol or Entertainment Tonight.

As for me, I may have to leave to go to another country just to be anonymous (not associated with the US) and safe.
  • Afghanistan legalized rape...
Why not just title it "your tax dollars at work" ? Are people ready yet to admit to themselves that policing the world and military adventurism does America no good, and the we need to start putting America and its constitution first?
