What songs do you think Barack Obama loaded on the iPod that he gave to the Queen of England? How embarrassing is this, folks?

Obama has decided that controlled bankruptcy would be the best course of action for General Motors. Controlled? Yeah .. controlled so that the unions don't lose their power.

Jamie Dupree and I discussed this yesterday .. all charges have been dropped against Senator Ted Stevens. Jamie is right .. this is a black eye for the Bush Justice Department.

Nancy Pelosi is excited for the House to pass Obama's budget today and launch into a new era of government dependence. By the way .. did you see what Nancy Pelosi did when she introduced Brad Pitt to some crowed in Washington? DON'T WATCH THIS!

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says that he doesn't know where Obama gained legal authority to oversee a restructuring of General Motors and Chrysler. The rest of the story is that Hoyer isn't protesting Obama's move .. he just doesn't know where the authority came from.

General Petraeus says that Israel may choose to attack Iran in order to prevent it from developing a nuclear bomb. A country with guts. Used to be us.

Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer are working together to revive the cash for clunkers proposal to trade in older cars for fuel-efficient models.

The Social Security system is bogged down with disability claims. It can take years to get a hearing. And you want these people to be in charge of your healthcare?

Well here's a real (non) shocker .. the Treasury won't release details of the bank bailout.

As Jamie Dupree has pointed out ... you can say one thing about Slobbering Barney Frank: the guy sure is entertaining.

In the wake of this economic crisis are abandoned boats that are too expensive for people to maintain.

What others are saying

  • IPod
Perhaps a digital frame with the pics would have been a better choice. Blame his advisors for overlooking ettiquette.
  • One More Thing About The IPOD
Should have given the Queen a feminine pad. She would have had as much use for it and it would have been less insulting.
  • Queen and protocol
I'm not sure if I'll get this across without ticking off someone, but I know we should follow protocol during big events like this, but I object to the theory that anyone is not the "peer" of the queen or anyone else. I believe we fought a war against that. When are the Brits going to wake up and acknowledge that the so-called royal family are not royal at all. They are human just like anyone else and should not be take care of anymore period. Get to work Charles. Out with the monarchy. Of course that is up to the UK, I just object to it from this end.
  • Don't watch this!
Well, you warned me.My momma said that I never did follow instructions well. Now I have paid for it.Good thing I can type blind....there will be nightmares tonight.
  • "Controlled Bankruptcy"?
No such thing as a Controlled Bankruptcy. Sorry, folks ... I've worked on several such cases filed in Delaware, Texas, and Georgia... maybe controlled in the sense that obozo will "control the judge" and write new laws on the way ... but nothing controlled about it.

Factually speaking, I am shocked that any unsecured creditor would offer GM or Chrysler anything but COD (cash on delivery) right now. Also, in BK there are issues of preferences, etc. that if I were a creditor today - would cause me to act very carefully around these businesses.

Consequently, I am amazed they haven't filed already. I'd expect a filing Sunday night 4/5/09. Right now; I wouldn't be a creditor of GM; period.

I guess obozo, really doesn't understand that BK doesnt mean Burger King.

    this is laughable.
  • Cash for Clunkers
Who says old cars are less fuel efficient? I have a 2001 Civic. I drive 45 miles each day round trip about half of which is Interstate highway. I get 35 mpg. Not that many new cars get that and certainly none that cost what my paid for car cost me. Just another example of politicians who know nothing about life trying to tell people what they ought to be doing. My wife and I have owned 6 cars between us. 3 hondas, 2 toyotas and 1 Jeep Liberty. Guess which one was a piece of junk and gave us nothing but problems. Right, the liberty! My Civic is 8 years old and far from a clunker. I will probably keep it another 5 years.
  • Ted Stevens got the shaft
And the representative from Florida wonders why we don't trust the government ...
  • Touching the British Queen
Laura, the biggest surprise that my friends in the UK say was that it was Queen Elizabeth 2 who initiated that embrace, not Mrs. Obama. She never has done that before to a visitor and rarely to her family in public. They are reading into this incident that the Queen really liked the Obamas. Go figure? Hey at least President Obama did not wink at her, like President Bush did! (I wonder if that scene was on the iPod?)
  • One More Thing About The IPOD
It's not even made in the US. So Obama gives the queen a piece of overpriced consumer junk that was invented in Britain & manufactured in a foreign country -- all paid for with money borrowed from the Chinese.

Maybe Obama was right -- its a perfect symbol of America today.
  • Ted Stevens
What do you expect from an administration full of unethical tax evaders. Ted Stevens is Probably going to change parties now.
  • Ipod
How egotistical do you have to be that you download your speaches on an Ipod and give it to anyone let alone the queen of England.
  • The Queen's Ipod
The Queen probably gave it to a house maid as soon as the Obama's asses were out the door.
  • obama's chrysler/fiat marrage=clowncars
I wondered what the hell was going on with obama pushing the joining of a loser car company like Chrysler to an even bigger loser like Fiat.(whens the last time you've seen a Fiat dealership?)After researching a little and I found out Fiat produces those little clown car,tin cans on wheels "SMARTCARS" that only envirowackos with a death wish are buying. This seems to be the lefts plan to shove more cars that no one wants in to the market.I'd love to see all government cars, congress and the prez included, have to lead by example.I can just see a presidential motorcade of little smart cars, full of secret service agents, zipping down the streets like a shriners parade.BRING ON THE CLOWNS!! NEVER MIND,THEY'RE ALREADY HERE.
  • An iPod for the Queen
Even if the man had no class himself, there isn't an office that operates at that level without a protocol office. Where are they? Asleep at the wheel? Washing the limo?
  • Hangin' with the Queen
What I find even worse was the First Lady's flub in touching the Queen while talking with her. You should be extra aware of the customs of the country you are visiting and respect them - when in Rome do as the Romans. She's not even the Queen's peer as the President is and should be even more careful in my opinion.

Does no one on staff tell them this crap or are they just that stupid and ignore it?
  • DON'T WATCH THIS!
I almost did, curse you Neal! Are you trying to blind us? Fortunately I saw the headline of the video before it loaded and managed to back out. The mental image is still there though *shudders*
  • Backdoor Barney
Why is it the ugliest and weirdest, scream the ridiculous ... loudest?
  • iPod
Oh no, I hope Queen Elizabeth 2 remembers to get a plug adaptor before she tries to recharge the iPod!
  • Slobbering Barney
I'm just waiting for Barney Frank to yell "You're dispicable" at some CEO. The Daffy Duck picture will be complete. ;-)
  • Songs on the Ipod
It turns out that the Ipod is loaded with the thins that are near and dear to Obama's heart -- his speeches. The man is such a narcissist!

He'll probably end up sending the photograph of the queen back. But no doubt he'll keep the frame...
  • The Gift Could Have Been Worse
Seeing as apparently Obama thinks all America has contributed to the world that's worth sharing is Broadway Show tunes, some old movies and ipods...I guess we should just be glad he didn't give her a windmill to make the palace more "green".
  • Moderates?
I am not hearing anything about the moderates that caved into liberals are just as responsible as the conservatives who failed while in power
  • i-Pod
Obama's cultural ignorance shows again. I've seen this before with people unaccustomed to dealing with people from outside the USA. They assume that these hi-tech products are only available in the US. (like asking Europeans if they have flat-screen TVs yet). They even assume American movies are superior to all others.
  • Gift to the Queen
What a total embarrassment the "Obomanation" is!
The comments in the Telegraph article are more fun to read!
    Like I stated before:
    "O'bama, O'Biden, OH SH!T"
  • Cash for Clunkers proposal
Not very Green of them. Think of all the energy and raw material it takes to build these new cars. Seems to me that if they wanted to be Green they would give people Tax Breaks to people to buy used cars. Better yet pass the fair tax and give people a Tax Break for buying everything second hand. This would be the greatest Green Effort ever devised.
  • Israel and the war to come
Yay, I can see it already... Israel will drag us into a war with Iran, and this will completely cripple our millitary. The cost of running our empire is bankrupting us. We can't let another nation dictate our actions, but that is exactly what we'll see happen. And it won't just be Iran, Syria and Lebanon will be brought in as well, and it wouldn't surprise me if Egypt and Saudi Arabia had to pick a side. And what about Iraq? Do they choose to aid the Westerners that gave them Democracy, or do they support their Shiite brethren in Iran? Hmm.. wonder what side they'll choose? This will all end very badly for the US, because we won't learn a simple lesson of staying out of the affairs of the dirtpit nations on the other side of the planet.
  • Obama's Gaffes
Is there any reason Obama can't hire someone to advise him in protocol? The gifts he has given to the highest representatives of the UK were juvenile! And giving back treasured gifts that were given to previous administrations was not only odd; but, insulting. I would actually believe a news report if it said he asked his daughters for gift advice! He also had several other errors like having to be told to move his limo from blocking the entrance to Buckingham Palace and shaking the queens hand with two hands and bowing like he was meeting the Japanese PM. Get that man someone who knows what they are doing to advise him. He is an embarrassment!
  • Gift to the British Queen
Wow, are we going no where with this story! Obama also gave the Queen a rare songbook signed by Richard Rodgers, one of her favorite composers. Focus people, the gift of the Ipod was not that bad of a gift, since it showcased what few American cutting edge products and had memory photos of her last visit to the USA.
