You'll remember the horrific massacre in Binghamton, New York just a few weeks ago. Well this is really rich. A government employee ... a union member ... a social services accounting clerk now wants compensation for missing his lunch break on the day of the massacre.

I kid you not, folks. James Kauchis is an employee of the Broome County Department of Social Services. He filed a formal complaint last week seeking the pay for the lunch break he didn't get to take when 13 people were killed.

That is a typical government and union employee at work. This person wants every inch of compensation for doing what .. taking a lunch break? This is truly a productive member of society. Someone who is contributing to the very fabric of this nation of wusses and whimps. The very people who believe that government is great and is there to serve them .. that the government always owes them something.

What others are saying

  • pay him
for his lunch he missed, but dock him a days pay for standing around all day and not working!
  • FIRE THAT MAN
I think he should be fired, so he can collect unemployment while he snacks away. And just to show that not all government employees think this way, Our military men and women OFTEN dont get to take a scheduled lunch or dinner, and I'd say that they damned well deserve it more than this creep. Suck it up champ, ever have to drag around a 200ft grease hose and your lunch at the same time? What a work ethic this guy has.
  • lunch break
    the shooter missed one
  • ??
    What is a "whimp"?
  • Union lout
If this lout did'nt have a union behind him he would'nt have had the guts to bring this up. What a terd. Probably a member of AFSCME.
  • Work ethic
I remember working a full day for NC for free because I felt I should have gotten my work done a day earlier.

But my parents taught us the concept of "right and wrong".
  • Lunch Break Idiot
Words are not enough for this idiot. I also retired from government and couldn't begin to count the "working" lunches I had. I guess my work ethic is different than this guy which is why is has already reached the highest point he will get to.
  • Pathetic union "worker"
One thing that wasn't mentioned is that his employer bought pizza for everyone and had it delivered so that they wouldn't have to go hungry. But I'm sure he either turned down the free food, or continued to work while he ate the free food. Did I mention the food was free?
  • I think you're stretching to make connections
This dude isn't a jerk because he is in a union etcetera, though I understand that is your target. This simply boils down to this dude was an a55hole, and those reside in all professions in every nook and cranny of our society. No need to mesh this guy with anti-union sentiment, there is no direct correlation.
  • James
    his color is UNION!
  • why not?
If I were paid hourly, I'd certainly want to be paid for every hour that I worked. What's the problem here? Who cares /why/ the guy was asked to put in extra time?
  • James Kauchis
James, what a pathetic excuse for human being your are. A sorry example of an American.
  • Scumbag worker
I have been a union member for 35 years and unfortunately, this is par for the course. This is not only usual in the union membership, but it is encouraged by the stewards. And yes, my union was big,big time in the tank for obama, thats all they talked about.I can't even read their magazine,I just throw it out,its too disturbing to try to read.Unions make you lazy, dependent and blissfully ignorant.
  • What a state I live in.
What a state I live in that would employ a union scumbag like this. Oh wait; this is the state that elects Chuckie Schumer and the carpetbagger Hillary, not to mention Eliot Spitzer. Luckily at this point he is being denied the compensation, but I sure the union will appeal and some arbitrator will give him the money. The day my 7 year old leaves for college, there will be two trucks in the driveway. One will be mine loaded with his things for school and the other will be a moving truck to take my stuff headed out of state to our new home (where ever that might be). Sadly that is still 10 years away.
  • Oy Vey
I still find it hard that people got money on 911. Like it is the tax payers fault that terrorist decided to attack us.
  • Lunch Break
As a retired Federal Civil Service employee, I have to say that this guy is hardly a "typical" employee. Unfortunately, there is a small percentage that is just like this.
  • Krazy Kauchis
Wanna bet he voted for Obama?!?!?!?
  • Alright
So give the guy a twenty and send him packing.
  • ...wants to be compensated for missing his lunch during massacre
If I were his supervisor I would find every possible reason, over the next 12 months, to have this inhuman parcel of wasted skin fired.
  • I want my lunch too.
    What color is Mr. Kauchis?
  • Governement Employees
People like this cause all government employees to get a bad wrap. I work for the government (the Army specifically) and no one in my office would do something so completely stupid. In fact, most of us end up giving the government time just to keep up with our work loads and meet our missions. We travel constantly and spend countless hours away from our homes and families all in support of our military men and women. People like this guy tick me off because it creates the thought that all government employees are bad.
  • FTA
"Klein reportedly denied Kauchis' complaint because there was no violation of the union contract or of state labor laws."

    Whatever, Neal.
