NORTH KOREA FINALLY RESPONDS

After North Korea launched a test missile a few weeks ago, it took a while before any president or world body said anything about it. But finally, the United Nations did get around to sending a stern letter to North Korea. You know how those are taken seriously.

So now the country has decided to respond to the UN Security Council. The response is probably what you would expect: To hell with you, we are going to conduct a nuclear test and fire more ballistic missiles.

Great. That seemed to work out real well.

Not only that, but North Korea is demanding that the UN apologize for having "infringed the sovereignty of [North Korea] and withdraw all its unreasonable and discriminative 'resolutions' and decisions adopted against [North Korea]."

North Korea's response is, I believe, a direct result of the weakness the United States showed when they launched their missile. Not only did we not shoot the thing out of the sky ... orders came from somewhere to our military that the Navy was forbidden from using its most sophisticated radar technology in tracking the missile.

I can't shake that poll of Europeans last year where we learned that 58% of Europeans wanted a weaker America. Barack Obama is giving Europe exactly what it asked for. The North Korean gargoyle is taking advantage.

What others are saying

  • missile threat
IF YOUR HOMETOWN BECAME THE TARGET FOR AN APPROACHING NUCLEAR
MISSILE,You would most likely have no advance warning of it's arrival. Your government
will not panic it's people who they cannot save anyway. No "special news bulletins" will
interupt your television show. The Emergancy Broadcast System will not air on radio.
No air raid sireins will sound off. No hysterical neighbors running around in the streets.
No one will be running each other over frantically trying to get as far away from town as
possible. When the initial flash hits, this life is over in a billionth of a second. And if you
are not a born again christian, you will instantly feel the scortching of Hell, and wondering
what happened and how you got there so quickly, while back on Earth, the thurmosphere
explosion is still scortching away the bare ground where your hometown was only
seconds before. And in Hell,"AN EYE FOR AN EYE" will do you no good. However, those
of us who are going to Heaven will have no need of, or can care less about taking an eye
    for an eye.
  • Unbelievable! Corbett and Copyleft...
"Mind our own business." "Threat level zero." Sure thing guys, lets load up and mind our own business while they make nuclear weapons. And let’s turn a blind eye to Iran. In fact, let’s just give them our stockpile and tell them to do what they want with it! That leftist Kool-Aid must be tasty because you guys are drunk.
  • @Corbett
Amen brother! Let's start following our Constitution and quit cherry picking Amendments and accusing others of not following it.

Troops on our borders protecting America. If we are attacked then we unleash hell the likes the world has never seen. We will be justified.

When evil rears it's ugly head and it surely will in other nations, we tell the world/UN, we are right behind you. Tell us where you want the bombs and we'll do our best to hit the target. Boots on the ground is for the rest of the world, we control the air.

We know the UN is impotent and will allow millions to be slaughtered but the only way we can bee the good guys if we are asked to fight. We won't need permission if we are attacked.
  • Simple answere
Kim has a "tool" (nuclear technology) that he can use to get whatever he wants from the global community.

Take away his tool and he just lost his bargaining chip.

Simple. Problem solved. OH.. and who gives a damn what the world thinks of us. Next problem please :)
  • Team America 2
Here is the link, but there is a LOT of foul language at the end

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0hk9vaqWUg
  • Team America
If you don't get the reference early in the thread, rent Team America: World Police". Also, the greatest spoof of Hollywood "love scenes" ever.

    "Durkha, durkha.. Mohammed Jihad!"
  • "No threat"!!!???
The gargoil is a literal lunatic. He is agressively pursuing a nuclear weapon/missile system. While they don't appear highly competent, that is only a matter of time. He brazenly defies a (toothless) U.N. He thumbs his nose at a weak U.S. president. He must be assumed to have bad intent. Anyone who dismisses this threat has their head somewhere very dark and smelly. "Ignore him and he will go away"!!!??? AAARRRGGGHHH!!! There is no getting through to lefties with facts and logic. Frankly I wish THEY would just go away.
  • Well, what did you expect?
The Norks tell the UN and everyone else to stuff it. Film at 11.
  • North Korea
Gotta agree with North Korea here.

Folks it is time we realize that we cannot keep nations from developing this sort of technology. It is going to happen. Countries we don't like are going to develop missiles & nukes & other nasty things. We need to start retooling our foreign policy based on that fact.

It is time to bring our troops home from all over the world & start minding or own business. Let the world know that if anyone attacks us, they will be absolutely obliterated, but that they can do whatever the hell they want top each other. In other words, let us adopt the foreign policy advocated by Washington & our other founding fathers.
  • The Letter
    Said something like this:

"Kim Jong Il you have done a naughty thing and you are a very bad person!"

Somebody need to spend some time in the corner. That'll teach him.
  • Just a thought
I agree that there are other questions that need to be answered. But I have to ask, if the missle went 4100 miles, what will it take to go, oh say 6100 miles?

As for testing weapons in other countries, could it have been, oh say, A JOINT VENTURE?

And last, who was the last country to threaten someone with a nuke?

    AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER!
  • Not anymore
Euroland may have wanted a weaker America, but they know that isnt going to happen after Obama sniped the pirates. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR
  • SBX
Here's the most powerful radar in the world...the one that obama & his useful idiot gates kept from deploying to track the NK missile. Even if we didn't shoot it down, the intel it would have provided could've been invaluable.

  • NORTH KOREA FINALLY RESPONDS
The North Koreans are trembling in their flip-flops. A letter will do it every time.
Maybe a letter to that bunch in DC will make them stop their destructive agenda.
    Good idea?
  • Same ol' same ol'
The Gargoyle (I like that name) has played Clinton. Played Bush. And he is now playing Obama. No one wants to confront this guy. Certainly not Europe or anyone else. If you appease, appease, appease, he will sense weakness, and back off after we give concessions, then start his nuclear program back up at anything he perceives as a threat or insult, then we start it all over again. It's happened numerous times now.

When will the world grow some balls?
  • why are you scared?
you got the people all scared, don't you. why is that? i remember, now. if the people are scared, then they'll give the military all the money the want. and if the get tired of the korean missile threat, they've got the iranian missile threat, or the pakistani missile threat, or the indian missile threat, or the israeli missile threat.....the list goes on and on and on.

you said: direct result of the weakness the United States

if you ignored him, he would go away. he likes getting all the attention of the world's press. he likes thumbing his nose at the worlds "superpower". he likes how you'd scared of him.
you are playing into his game with our governments help, cause they get something out of it too, money.
  • Neal moving left again on foreign policy...
Neal's having a leftist neo-con moment...come back to conservatism on foreign policy sometime Neal. With 11 trillion dollar debt America can't afford to go around the world to police everyone. Rome tried it, read up on how that worked out for them. Let China and Japan deal with North KOrea, particularly since Japan and N. Korea are traditional enemies anyway.

    Neal failed to address some things in this. Some questions that need to be asked and some things to think about;

Does America test weapons in other people's countries? Yes.

Does America bomb other countries they are not at war with, despite disapproval from their government?

In Okinawa (North Korea's region of the world) does America test weapons? Yes.

Would America be fine with Iran testing weapons in Mexico or Cuba? yes or no?

Would America be trying to arm itself if Iran were testing weapons in Mexico or Cuba?

The fact that America gives large amounts of money to nuclear countries with oppresive govts(Pakistan/China), do you think that is inspiring N.Korea and Iran to go nuclear?

Just do your reading and connect the dots guys, let logic and traditional conservatism prevail. The neo-con mysticism has to be severed from the GOP once and for all if we are to defeat Chairman Obama and is henchmen. Let's go ahead and wake it up a bit people.
  • letter
And I'm sure this letter had a serious threat within that stated if they choose not to heed this letter, another letter will be sent!
Trey Parker and Matt Stone nailed this one a few years ago, didn't they?
  • UN Response
I wish the UN would stop being so harsh before they get us all blown up.
  • Yawn
North Korea throws a tantrum that doesn't even work, and America wisely ignores it.

The UN gives North Korea a stern lecture, and North Korea responds with another tantrum. Threat level: still zero.

What's the problem, Neal? And how is ignoring a harmless lunatic "weakness"? I don't think America needs to be as insecure as this "jumping at shadows for National Security" approach you recommend--which has worked out SO well in the past.

We've got actual problems to worry about. Peddle your hysteria elsewhere.
