I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD

Do you remember when candidate Obama said that? Quite impressed with himself, he was. Not only was he ready to "rule" (his words) the United States, but he was going to change the world in the process. Now he had decided who should and who should not be brought into European Union membership. He's over there pushing for membership for Turkey. Some European leaders aren't all that happy with this. I wonder when Nicolas Sarkozy will head to the United States to push for Puerto Rican statehood.

But ...what the hell. I'm trying to change the world too, and the FairTax would do just that.

What others are saying

  • 2 different scenarios
Puerto Rico periodically votes on its relationship to the US. If they wanted statehood, they would have indicated that already by voting for it.

The EU is playing a disingenuous game with Turkey. Instead of flatly rejecting Turkish membership, they find excuses to prolong their decision making. They have no intention of letting Turkey in, but they will continue to drag out the process for another 10-15 years before finally saying no.

It's also not uncommon for world leaders to comment on the decisions of other countries. It happens all the time. It's like when the EU whines about Guantanamo Bay. Turnabout is fair play.
  • "I'd like to teach the world to sing"...oops...sorry.
Heh...I guess G20 showed that the world wasn't too keen on the idea.

He might want to be careful whose business he sticks his snout into. Or is he getting so used to doing that here, that it's just habit now? It's said that it only takes 28 days to establish a habit.
  • Obama
What Obama is doing is campaigning for world president. His ego has lead him to seek a place where he can try to controll the whole world.
  • Hooligan
Why don't you leave for Saudi Arabia or Zimbabwe where the "climate" would be more to YOUR liking?
  • o'bama the 'ruler'
ON most things, neal gets it right, but the new clown-prince of presidents didn't say 'rule', a staffer did. of course, he behaves that way, but let's get it right. With this dunce we don't have to embriodery
  • Hooligan
It's his assignment, everyday he gets his talking points and he drew the short straw so he is condemned to haunt the halls of Boortz everyday until his master deems him worthy.

  • Just leave already, copyleft
I supposed the only reason you haven't left America for the Dionysian gay-bathhouse lifestyle you crave in Europe is because you are actually hoping to kiss Barack's ass.
No one here agrees with you except maybe Gavin Volaire, but I suspect he is already living that dream.
  • He's still Mr. DRT
Would-be robber's fatal gunshot wound not self-inflicted, police say

    The Wichita Eagle
WICHITA - An autopsy has revealed that a 25-year-old man who died Sunday morning did not accidentally shoot himself while attempting to rob two people late Friday night, as Wichita police reported at a briefing this morning.

Paul Broyer was shot with a different gun from the one he was holding at the time of the crime, Capt. Brent Allred said this afternoon.
  • It starts at home...
Want real 'change'? Start by dropping the silly notion that we somehow owe the world an apology for taking the lead over the last 65 years. We can do two things, watch other wannabe Superpowers( Russia, China )try to bend things their way. Not what we really need, is it? Or we can be the Superpower that still has the where with all and willingness to do things nobody else wants to do. Of course we'll be criticized for it. Grow some thicker skin( yeah,Democrats! ). We'll be condemned no matter what we do. Why not go ahead and be the one eveyone counts on and if we don't do as they wish at times, fine. Who do they all look to when the ca-ca hits the fan anyway? It ain't Putin or Jhintao! The last thing we need is for Obama to run around the world aplogizing for us being the one country that has( or had )a pair. Nice going, Mary! Now the real fun begins. Every two bit thug currently recognized by the UN is licking their chops and rolling their eyes thinking of all the ways to mess with the U.S. and the rest of the civilized world. Nice touch, Rookie. Very nice. Hey, Copyleft, missed you, man. Glad to see you back in the saddle.
  • Of course!
As a prominent ally and partner with the European Union, clearly our president has an obligation to remain 100% neutral on all EU issues, including membership.

Offering an opinion would be a horrible violation of our strictly isolationist, pure-neutrality foreign policy.

In other words... HUH??? The Daily Dose of Outrage needs better material.
