HOW BRAINDEAD DO YOU HAVE TO BE?

When I say 'braindead' I think you will know what I am talking about when I tell you about this next item of Nuze. Matt Lauer on the "Today" show was all hot and bothered at the idea that Goldman Sachs may be able to pay back its bailout loan. He was speaking to the chair of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, Christina Romer. Here's how Matt handled the news of Goldman Sachs:

"I'm worried if you think if that's a good thing. Are they doing this because of financial stability or might they be talking about that, simply to get out from under the thumb of the federal government and be allowed to go back to running the business the way they want to run it as opposed to the way the government wants them to run it?"

OMG! Are you kidding? Just who do these Goldman Sachs people think they are? They can't be serious! We just cannot allow businesses to run themselves! That is not the American way. The Obama vision must prevail. The businesses may be private ... fine .. .but everybody knows the government must run them. We just cannot allow the private sector to run its own business operations.

What others are saying

  • That was my line
"I'm worried if you think if that's a good thing. Are they doing this because of financial stability or might they be talking about that, simply to get out from under the thumb of the federal government and be allowed to go back to running the business the way they want to run it as opposed to the way the government wants them to run it?"
  • Frightening
If Matt Lauer was in Germany in the '40s he'd no doubt be stunned if his neighbors had the audacity to question the ashes falling on their rooftops. Fascist.
  • Let GS fail??
Lord Stan that was so weak...

That's a baited question and you know it. Try again.

Listen, today is today. Forget Bush and anything he did. Most of us are trying to do that as well. What we want President Obama to do is simply ask GS if they're sure that they can pay back the money; ask them if paying it back will put a strain on their business; and ask them if there's anything else the U.S. can do to help. And if the answers to those questions are yes, no and no, then the government should take their payback check and then
GET THE HELL OUT OF THEIR WAY!

Again - today is today. Forget the past and set your sights on the future.
  • phil you're so dumb
    you wrote to me
"hey, how often do you have to clean the rabid spittle off your monitor?"
    it looks like
"you have the intellectual agility of a small soap dish! i bet your mom dresses you."

    talk about mental agility
  • "they're doing what they've always done, lying. but that's ok with neil, as long as the government don't run things."

Absolutely! When did lying become a crime? I thought we had this little thing called freedom of speech. If you want to lie to make money in your business, you probably won't survive long. I know what you're thinking: Bernie Madoff. Well, I can only offer a big thanks to the SEC for catching THAT before it exploded into a multi-billion dollar scandal!
  • Which vision is better?
Should Obama follow the Bush vision of letting the business fail and causing further economic loss to the nation?
  • buh...
paying back your loans is a BAD THING???

what a world, what a world....
  • Goldman Sachs
When I first read that Goldman Sachs planned to repay the TARP money immediately I knew it was because they were concerned about the level of government interference Obama plans to have into their business. What I find appalling is that Congress wants to PREVENT them from repaying this money! If that doesn't make clear the ulterior motive the Obama Administration has for turning this into a Socialist country, I don't know what does!
  • Matt Liberal
This guy is a shill for the dems. But, I'm sure he believes, as does Larry (Liberal) King, that the masses need someone to guide them. However, neither of them considers themselves as the masses, rather, they are part of the elite and will be treated as such by the imperial federal government.

I'm afraid they may be wrong and that they will be picking sugar cane and rice along with the rest of us.
  • tshirt-doc
oh my, you have the intellectual agility of a small soap dish! i bet your mom dresses you.
  • who let Matt off the Manor?
We all know Matt Lauer is a left wing dingbat. I assumed, and we all know what happens when you do that, that he was semi intelligent. To even phrase a question like that is scary.

I can't take him seriously though. Everytime I look at him I immediately think of a Meerkat. It's like he should be running around with the Whiskers on Animal Planet.
  • So sad...
When I put my ear to the ground, I can hear and feel this minor tremble that is slowly getting closer and more intense. I believe it to be the jackboots of the bringers of fascism. (deep breath, sigh)
  • stinking sphincter
matt, katie, osamabama and barnyard frankfooter all have bad breath b'cuz they speak out of their stinking sphincter.

so why would anyone be suprised when they talk like morons?

yes stinking sphincter is a really kool way to say arsehole!

    happy tax day ya'll.

    DRIP
    don't return incumbent politicians...
  • Batty Matty
Good Lawd!! Who let the bats out in HIS belfry?
  • Matt Lauer is a fascist.
  • Matt Lauer
Didn't think it was possible but someone has finally proven that there is something dumber than dirt - Matt Lauer. Always thought he was 10 cents short of a nickel well he finally opened his mouth and proved it. know the old adage - better to be thought a fool then open your mouth and prove it. Sorry Matt your too late. Sure am glad I was able to convince my wife to stop turning that joke you call a program on in the morning. What an idiot!!!!!!!
  • phil
your wife does that for me :)
  • tshirt-doc
hey, how often do you have to clean the rabid spittle off your monitor?
  • Two of a kind: Matt and Katie!
Due to the fact that Matt revealed himself to be a pusillanimous, fatherless, buffoon several years ago I decided that I could no longer, in good conscience, watch him or his kind. He is even today still true to form. Jhon, one slight correction if you don't mind. Ignorance is a product of not knowing, usually as a result of not having been informed. Matt Lauer is certainly informed, therefore; that makes him about as STUPID as they come. When it comes to the "where in the world is Matt Lauer", I know that I don't care. I just wish he'd stay there!
  • Today Show
Quit watching it years ago because of stupidity such as this. Maybe Lauer should have Obama run NBC and determine his salary?
  • Redeaux
So, do you find that you have to watch these again to be sure that you heard correctly? :)
  • matt lauer
sweet fancy moses lauer! get your head outta your ass. this is freaking ridiculous.
  • Government management - oxymoron
Why in the world do people like Matt think the Government can run a business better than private citizens and stockholders. This mindset must be resisted and changed at once.
  • get out your pitchforks
that's what we ought to do. the leaders of Goldman Sachs ought to be in jail. they're doing what they've always done, lying.

but that's ok with neil, as long as the government don't run things.

i think the government ought to be involved, in trying them in court. that goes for AIG too.

    http://norris.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/14/the-case-of-the-missing-month/
  • "Today"
don't watch it for that very reason.
  • We didn't let businesses run themselves!
Neal, we didn't let GS run themselves back in September when this 'crises' first began. We bailed them out thanks to the Bush Administration and a willing 'go along to get along' Congress. Who knows, if we didn't intervene back in the fall maybe GS would have had file bankruptcy and restructure, or maybe not. I agree though that GS should be allowed to repay the loan and get back to running their business like they want to.
  • Matt Lauer
    Is Matt Lauer a blond?
  • unbelievable...
I have to say what truly amazed me was during the election Obama and Hillary came out AGAINST free market capitalism in public....on national tv. Which is amazing because we have seen a truly free market economy at work in America in decades. What has this country become?
  • Braindead Matt Lauer
Over the last year, I have repeatedly asked myself and those around me"Can ANYBODY REALLY BE STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK THAT????" The answer is quite simple Neal...and that answer is Yes. Matt Lauer is only one example of the kind of staggering ignorance we are up against.
  • Matt Lauer
I would guess all those hair treatments that haven't worked on his scalp are slowly working through his brain.
