HERE WE GO AGAIN ... TAX DAY!

The day is here. Tax day. For me, this day brings the excitement of a FairTax rally in Columbia, SC. For others, it will be literally hundreds of tea parties where you can bond in the disgrace of our gross government tax and spend policies. For others, it will simply bring frustration because they had to spend time filling out tax paperwork rather than watching American Idol.

What others are saying

  • Charleston SC Tea Party
Yesterday I posted I'd be unable to attend the tea party here, but I was able to juggle the kids with the wife and made it to ours.

There were probably 500 people at any given time. I was only able to be there about 45 minutes and saw people leaving as I was arriving and arriving as I was leaving so it's difficult to put a real number on it. The police eventually had to block off the street in front of the location. I haven't seen any news coverage yet.
  • ADA twisting the truth!
I just wanted to post an email I received today from the ultra-liberal ADA. It reads..... Today is tax day and we're celebrating. That's probably a first.

But after decades of tax policy heavily favoring the super-rich, times are changing. Democrats in Congress led by President Obama passed the largest tax cut in history for working people and are shoring up necessary government programs like children's health care and education by returning taxation levels for the rich to the same levels Ronald Reagan advocated. And even so, those tax rates won't kick in until 2011.

The corporate lobbyists behind today's tea bag parties don't want you to know that it was their tax policies that led to the economic recession we're struggling through today. While the richest of the rich have seen their tax rates decline and their incomes dramatically increase, wages for working people have remained the same and they've been stuck paying the majority of the government's bills on a smaller salary.

The result? No consumers. Layoffs. Recession.

But that's all going to change and one way you can help is by emailing your lawmakers and telling them to pass President Obama's proposed budget.

President Obama's budget provides a visionary blueprint that turns away from the failed economic policies of the past and seeks to invest in America's future by expanding opportunities for all.

Use this Tax Day to remind your lawmakers you sent them to Washington to change how things are done.

PS. You can also support our efforts to pass the budget by joining ADA here.

This is how they slant the truth! Get to a tea-party now!!!
  • A suggestion
If you want support for Fair Tax, you need help from the left. The media voices behind Fair Tax are all right-wingers, so, most liberals will say "no" to the idea on that basis alone.

I'm more in the middle, but I've managed to sway every single one of my left-wing friends (some are extreme liberals) to support Fair Tax. And every single one of them always had the same first believe about it. "Right wingers seem to support it, so it must be pro-right wing, anti-left.

Fair Tax is what is says, it's Fair. Doesn't matter if you're extreme right, extreme left or anywhere in the middle. If you can get a level headed voice on the left to support it, then you've just got yourself a massive new group of supporters.
  • Tulsa Tea Party
I just got back from ONE of the multiple Tea Parties going on in Tulsa and there was a great crowd, including media coverage on the ground as well as from the air. A lot of Fair Tax supporters showed up and some were passing out information concerning it. I hope this spawns even greater support for the Fair Tax, and this Nation starts to wake up!

I just started re-reading your Fair Tax book last night Neal. Keep up the good work!
  • Homestead, FL
12 PM until 1:30 - we had 30 people. We even had the Mayor speak to everyone. It was nice to see a few ladies, put this together. I wish I could have helped more, but was a new resident. Media showed up as everyone left. No video cameras, but they took a couple of pictures. Don't need media, just need to put out the message of Feelings Towards Our Corrupt Government. Your Liberatarian Friend ~ De`
  • Tea Party in Chicago
I just got back from the party in Chicago, and it was a great crowd. I will have to work late tonight but it was worth it!
  • Tea Party
I was driving through the little town of Trenton Missouri and there were 15 people or so having a tea party protest in front of the Court House....no press looking at them...just Americans making a statement that they are fed up. I was duly impressed.
  • HLN Coverage
I can't help but enjoy the HLN coverage of the tea parties. Their on-site reporter's two questions to people there:
    1) The stimulus gives your state $50 million. Don't you want 50 million dollars?
    2) Why do you hate CNN?

    Good stuff.
  • Tea Party Coverage in Orlando
The local NBC affiliate covered Deland's protest live, interviewed folks, and even readjusted their crowd estimate up. They also showed a graphic of where other protests would take place today, including exact location and time. Nothing negative; pretty good coverage actually. We'll see if it makes the evening news.
  • Momentum
What a good sight to see, with these parties! BUT, this momentum must carry on to the 2010 elections! I think the press and the pols are shrugging it off because they know Americans have short attention spans and will soon forget this. Well, we need to prove them wrong!
  • Few tax facts I just read...
Nina Olson's report to Congress stated:

    1) it takes the individual taxpayer an average of 26 hours and 40 minutes to prepare a 1040 form.

    2) taxpayers spend $193B a year trying to calculate their tax returns - 14% of all the income taxes the IRS collects.

    3) There have been 3,250 changes to the tax code since 2001, more than one change every day of the year.

    4) The tax code in 2001 ran 1.4M words; in 2008 it ran 3.7M words.

She stated that the complexity was the most serious problem facing taxpayers.
  • April 15, 2009....
....the ONLY day I will EVER be proud to call myself a T-sipper!!!
  • take the day off!
if there's one day worth taking pto, make it today. show up, the more people we get, the more deafening the mainstream media's silence will be when they refuse to cover these events.

    real change...republicanremix.com
  • Tea Party does not equal lazy
Just because people go to the tea party events does not mean they do not work. The event is happening well into the evening. Some people will go after work, take off early, or even take today off to deal with taxes...

This is not an anti-war protest, I guarantee most people at these tea parties will be wearing deodorant and have bathed within the last day.
  • This is great!
Now the federal imperialist government can see just how many RWE's they will have to contend with!
    DRIP 2010
  • Tax rally on news, Fairtax slammed on NBC
The local NBC news station in Tulsa mentioned the rally's today and mentioned the tax options such as the Fair Tax. The only details they had came from an "expert" who said it would ass 25% to everything we buy and we are burdened with local sales taxes as well so he did not like the idea.

Obviously he has not read the book.....
  • American Idol worship
C'mon Neal. Most of the people that feverishly follow American Idol don't fill out tax forms. They go to the free clinic downtown to get them filled out....or they just don't file altogether.
  • Tea Parties
    Neal,
One huge issue with the Tea Parties is that most people would like to attend, but have to work instead! That's why so many people turn out for Obamania Events!

    Keep up the fight!
  • unaffordable wars...
I wonder how many at these tax rallies will acknowledge the idea that America cannot fight wars and police the planet if America is in debt of 11 trillion dollars? How many will acknowledge the wasteful spending of American leftist style military adventurism and world police while the American border remains wide open?
  • All right!
I made the air. Neal said "it's tax day, Ben Dover here it comes"...
