DON'T LET THE CONSTITUTION GET IN YOUR WAY

Here's a general rule of thumb with the politicians in charge of Washington today: most believe that the Constitution is a document that prevents them from doing what they think government ought to do. And when it comes to our Second Amendment, Nancy Pelosi and Eric Holder aren't going to let that silly little document get in the way of cracking down on gun trafficking to Mexico.

You may remember the other day; our Attorney General Eric Holder was asked if the administration would encounter constitutional issues as it tries to crack down on gun trafficking. His response was: "I don't think our Second Amendment will stand in the way of efforts we have begun and will expand upon."

Stand in our way? Since when has our Constitution or our Bill of Rights been something that is considered an obstacle or a barrier? Our Bill of Rights outlines the freedoms we hold that the government cannot infringe upon. That includes the right to bear arms. But to a Democrat like Eric Holder, this is a limitation of the boundless powers provided by government.

And Nancy Pelosi is right there by Eric Holder's side, saying that gun registration is at the top of her agenda. If you don't believe that registration precedes seizure, then you just aren't paying attention.

What others are saying

  • Holder et al..
Mr. Holder is one of the apparently large number of federal officials cut from the same cloth as Woodrow Wilson. President Wilson was overtly hostile to the Constitution, which in part explains why he is arguably the leader of the first fascist regime in the world.
  • Guns and Illegals
All the AG needs to do to prevent guns being smuggled into Mexico is to build a fence and supply the manpower to watch it.

That would have an unfortunate affect on those trying to smuggle themselves into the U.S.
  • Guns
Shhh…the answer to controlling guns is not the registration, but the taxation. An outrageous federal tax on gun sales, products, and ammunition already has precedent in the taxation of tobacco products (no, I do not smoke, so don’t go there). When a single bullet reaches $5.00 we sure won’t be shooting as much.
  • Give up your guns
I think You should all give up your guns. That way after the crime has been commited and it will be, the police can investigate. In the mean time what will you do? Rules of self-defense? There are no rules in self-defense!

That is a very interesting blog and group! For some reason, I can't post a comment from work, will visit again when I get home. Have linked it to my blog also.
  • Canadian Gun Registration has solved
zero crimes - and it hasn't prevented any either.
Canada has spent over $100MM for zero value.
  • The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.
    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/04/02/myth-percent-guns-mexico-fraction-number-claimed/

While 90 percent of the guns traced to the U.S. actually originated in the United States, the percent traced to the U.S. is only about 17 percent of the total number of guns reaching Mexico.

You've heard this shocking "fact" before -- on TV and radio, in newspapers, on the Internet and from the highest politicians in the land: 90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States. There's just one problem with the 90 percent "statistic" and it's a big one: It's just not true. In fact, it's not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S. What's true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency's assistant director, "is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S." But a large percentage of the guns recovered in Mexico do not get sent back to the U.S. for tracing, because it is obvious from their markings that they do not come from the U.S.
In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced -- and of those, 90 percent -- 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover -- were found to have come from the U.S. But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes. In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.
So, if not from the U.S., where do they come from? There are a variety of sources: the Black Market, Russian crime organizations, South America, Asia, the Mexican Army and Guatemala.
  • disarmed victims
    Keep this in Mind:

"Then you will see the rise of the men of the double standard--the men who live by force, yet count on those who live by trade to create the value of their looted money--the men who are the hitchhikers of virtue. In a moral society, these are the criminals, and the statutes are written to protect you against them.

But when a society establishes criminals-by-right and looters-by-law--men who use force to seize the wealth of disarmed victims--then money becomes its creators' avenger.

Such looters believe it safe to rob defenseless men, once they've passed a law to disarm them.
Excerpt from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

    Sound Familiar????
  • Ms. Hillary
Why, during Slick Hillary's jaunts around the world, especially to China, did she not request that these countries slow productioin of these weapons. They are not made here.

Oh, I forgot, because that would not be in line with her blame America first agenda.

    My bad.
  • Nazi
Didn't the Nazi tell everyone to register their guns. Look what happened to the jews after that.
  • DON'T LET THE CONSTITUTION GET IN YOUR WAY
He knows he and BO can't enslave us without disarming us.
  • I guess I know what to do with my tax refund this year.
There's no telling what lengths the dp will go to in America to keep the miniscule percentage of civilian firearms from US gun stores out of the hands of mexican drug gangs. We do know what lengths they won't go to. You won't see them secure the border. You won't see them hinder the supply of military small arms coming from the PRC, through FARC, chavez, the Palstinian Authority(which kills Americans and Israelis with US made small arms), or anybody else hostile to the USA supplying small arms to the drug cartels and gangs.

It's a good enough excuse for the people stupid enough to vote for the dp to shut down the US civilian firearm market. Those 60-something new seats the dp is creating for the Federal bench, and the huge backlog of vacancies that they will now catch up on in record time, will back them on whatever they do. The Constitution means whatever they and the Supreme Court says it means. Aclu and acorn lawyers are already nominated(Could you imagine the fit they would pitch if a Republican nominated an NRA lawyer to the bench?) by hussein, and they will be confirmed. They will also factor into dp census fraud and election fraud cases.

The dp will have to disarm as many Americans as they can before people realize how they will be forced to live and die under the socialist government they are making. That's probably why they're talking of putting the cap and trade scam off for a few years. Too many people would figure it out too fast with a jolt like that.

Still they are cooking the frog pretty fast and he might notice and leap yet. The downside to letting it go this far is we might leap into the fire. History has little comfort for Republics at our stage.
  • Demon-fascist DNC trolls
We conservatives need to figure out the best ways to respond to the totally idiotic statements from these trolls.

Sadly, it would seem like the Demon-fascist's don't think of Neal is as much of a threat, else they would assign some better trolls. As it is, these must be their z-list morons.

Just bear in mind that their whole intent is to get us to respond to their moronic rantings on trivial minutiae and keep us off balance instead of focusing on the main issues of the day.
  • People who own guns are ...
    Policemen.

    Members of the Secret Service.

    Soldiers.

Hmmm ... According to the great Stan Gable, all of these are ... what?

I sleep well at night knowing that there are hard men ready and willing to do violence to those who would try and harm me. I am thankful of them.
  • @ Stan gaBULL
    Stan Gable wrote

"......If you are a homeowner, then you should probably learn the rules of self-defense. People who own guns are morons and probably do it to compensate for other things missing."

I'll see your martial arts and raise you a street sweeper.
My self defense beats your self defense.
    You lose.
  • 2nd Amendment-Fascist Administration
    http://oath-keepers.blogspot.com/

I am hoping that the powers in Washington are, arrogantly, underestimating the position of the police and military that they might use to subjugate the American people.
  • Stan
"People who own guns are morons and probably do it to compensate for other things missing."

In your opinion you mean. The 2nd amendment is in the constitution and we expect it to be honored, THAT is fact.

And Copy, other than your pitiful rendition, what else could it mean? Duh! Think instead of glancing at this mornings talking points you were assigned.
  • The DNC needs to replace Copytheft
Could somebody at the DNC please replace Copyleft with someone that can at least SOUND coherent?
  • If shooting was controlled
...then the Democrats shouldn't be allowed to shoot off their mouths. (Where's Cheney when we need him?)
  • Disarming the Proletariat
Although the movie "Red Dawn" was fiction, it's a lot closer to what reality will be later on in this Marxist administration. These people are fast tracking private firearms registration closely followed by total seizure to ensure their own safety. They know very well that the socialist and fascist economic policies they are imposing will lead to total economic collapse and those politicians, bureaucrats and their Wall St mafia cronies will be the high value targets of the angry, roving mobs. They are so frightened of this eventuality that they have taken the unprecedented step of planning for deployment of regular troops on domestic soil to suppress insurrection; much the same as Czar Nicholas II did at the Winter Palace in 1917. Also, these very same public servants, (mostly leftist democrats) have been quietly forming their own private security forces made up of former military, law enforcement, CIA and laid off Blackwater security operatives.

  • Paranoia?
A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free
State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be
    infringed.

I don't know sloppy left, but that's pretty cut and dry to me. ANY action to make it more difficult to own firearms is infringement.

Without this we will be bowing to "King Obama"

How's that for paranoia? And no, it's not fun at all...
  • Constitutioin as a constraint?
Government's response to any constitutional challenge is to "look for ways around the law". It is a game for them - both parties. They have an agenda and the winner of the game is whomever can get around the rules the best.
  • The names have been changed...
Chnage his name to Alberto Gonzales and there would be a cry of 'outrage' from the Left. Deny it all you want, the worst abuse of power hasn't been seen just yet. The Obama Administration is going to dwarf any misdeeds or percieved injustices by the last one. Constitution? What? That old moth eaten parchment? Second Amendment rights only apply to people Eric Holder deems wothy, huh? Change, baby, Change.
  • Barriers
I didn't have time to read the article, just Neal's note. Just to clarify, the Constitution is niether a barrier or an obsticle. It is however the chains in which we must bind our officials. And if those chians fail then there should be cells with great bars of iron waiting for them.
  • Pitt Police officers probably are for gun control
My guess is w more wack jobs buying guns, people will soon realize there is no longer a need for them. If you are a hunter, learn to sleep in, and find directions to a grocery store. If you are a homeowner, then you should probably learn the rules of self-defense. People who own guns are morons and probably do it to compensate for other things missing.
  • 2nd Amendment
Eric Holder said, "I don't think our Second Amendment . . ." Maybe not his, but my Second Amendment had better be considered an obstacle to him, because he is the government. That was the whole point of the Bill of Rights; it was to act as a huge obstacle and barrier to the government. The problem is getting them to recognize it. I think it was Andrew Jackson who, when in disagreement with the Supreme Court, said something like, "That is their decision, let them enforce it."
  • As long as we remember....
...modern American socialism/soft fascism as we see unfolding in front of our eye began with George W. Bush. Bush paved the way for Obama. Realistically Obama is Bush's 3rd term. Komrad Mccain would've had his list of constitutional violations also. I don't know about you guys, but I intend to purchase a few shot guns, ammo and a few pistols before the lawlessness, um...crackdown continues. Remember also we can put Mexican drug dealers out of business by simply decriminalizing drugs, and therefore crime will instantly drop because risk value and street dollar value will instantly drop. But then if that happens then what excuse will politicians use to start the process of seizing your guns? Prohibition still doesn't work....the joke is on us, hopefully more people can start figuring this out.
  • Gun Control
This administration began its anti-gun initiative a few weeks ago along with a more than willing left leaning press by fomenting the idea, and publishing the story that 90% of the guns seized in Mexico came from US sources. This was a bald face lie, but the press investigate this statistic? No! They printed it as is. A recent statistic found that only 17% of the guns seized in Mexico came from the US. Of couse you will never see the press correct their earlier story will you? Note to the new American Marxists; AK47's are not made in Amerika.
  • Paranoia's fun, isn't it?
Of course, you have to put a rather bizarre interpretation on everything that you see or hear--like Holder's comment that cracking down on gun trafficking won't encounter any Second Amendment conflicts.

In your fevered imagination, that has to become "The Second Amendment cannot stop us! Bwa-ha-ha-haaa!"

It's a lot of fun, and it's sure easier than thinking rationally. Enjoy!
  • Gun Registration
Not only will it precede possible seizure of guns but will create yet another money grab in taxes for that registration as well. And more government. Please tell me where this is going to stop?
  • 2nd Amendment/AG Holder
Yes, this is the left's plan. They are more than aware an armed populace is all that is standing between them and total control. Of course, there does not appear to be any Rebumblicans in Congress to stop the stampede.
