We've got a couple of fun things going on today on the show:
At 11am ET: It's a Boortz Press Conference! I'll provide MY answers to the questions Obama faced. Don't miss this!
At Noon ET: The Talkmaster, consumer advocate Clark Howard, Washington Correspondent Jamie Dupree and occasional Boortz fill-in Herman Cain come together on the radio for a Roundtable Discussion about President Obama's first 100 days
Barack Obama decided to celebrate his 100th day in office by hosting town hall meetings. At one of the meetings in St. Louis, Obama decided that he was going to address all you evil right-wingers who got out there to protest of tax day. When asked a question about fiscal discipline (something Obama knows nothing about) and entitlement reform, here is what he had to say:
"Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I'm not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around ... let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security. But ... let's not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act."
So there you have it. If you watch FoxNews or attended a tea party .. Obama would like to have a "serious" conversation with you.
OK ... I'll contact the White House and ask for a "serious" conversation with President Obama about the FairTax. Now ... on a scale of 1 to 10 ... with 10 being "no way in hell, Jose" ... what do you think my chances are?
The House has adopted the Looter in Chief's budget. The cost: $3.4 trillion. There is nothing sophisticated about this budget. The only thought process that went into this mess is "what can we spend and who gets to spend it." One rule ... spending must increase the dominance of government in our lives. Hang on, folks. This is just the beginning, based on the expansion of government that will necessarily happen because of the policies included in this budget.
What kind of policies? I'm talking about Obama's agenda to ensure that Americans look to the government for their healthcare needs. Making Americans dependent on the government for their healthcare will be an incredibly expensive task, thanks to the taxpayers. It will not make our healthcare system in this country any more efficient or cost-effective. In truth, it isn't supposed to. The goal here is not cost effectiveness. The goal is to make people dependent on government. The goal is enslavement.
What does this mean for your grandchildren? Well, deficits under Barack Obama, thanks to budgets like this, will rise to as much as $17 trillion by the end of 2014. Read that again, folks. We are talking $17 trillion. Just last year, the Democrats were whining about a $455 billion deficit.
Beyond healthcare, the budget also includes funding for green energy and tax increases for the filthy, evil rich making more than $200,000 a year. There is absolutely nothing to celebrate here. The parasite class may feel good about the government lifting even more responsibility off their shoulders ... but future generations of Americans are going to read about the freedom and opportunity that used to be ... and wonder what went wrong. Truth be told ... Obama, that's what.
The budget resolution passed the House with absolutely zero Republican support. Point: If it had been Bush's budget the Republicans would have supported it ... so don't sing Republican praises too loud. A more amazing fact is that 17 Democrats voted against the budget. You'll enjoy Nancy Pelosi's reaction to the passage of this budget resolution. She says, "Today, for the first time in many, many years, we have a president's budget ... that is a statement of our national values."
Did you catch that? This is a "statement of our national values." What values would those be, Nancy? Bigger government ... redistribution of wealth ... government dependency ... government control of the private economic sector ...funding "green" industries based on the global warming hoax ... replacing the free market system with government controls and regulations ....
This is a big government, anti-individualism budget. BOHICA
After North Korea launched a test missile a few weeks ago, it took a while before any president or world body said anything about it. But finally, the United Nations did get around to sending a stern letter to North Korea. You know how those are taken seriously.
So now the country has decided to respond to the UN Security Council. The response is probably what you would expect: To hell with you, we are going to conduct a nuclear test and fire more ballistic missiles.
Great. That seemed to work out real well.
Not only that, but North Korea is demanding that the UN apologize for having "infringed the sovereignty of [North Korea] and withdraw all its unreasonable and discriminative 'resolutions' and decisions adopted against [North Korea]."
North Korea's response is, I believe, a direct result of the weakness the United States showed when they launched their missile. Not only did we not shoot the thing out of the sky ... orders came from somewhere to our military that the Navy was forbidden from using its most sophisticated radar technology in tracking the missile.
I can't shake that poll of Europeans last year where we learned that 58% of Europeans wanted a weaker America. Barack Obama is giving Europe exactly what it asked for. The North Korean gargoyle is taking advantage.
You are not going to believe this. Only government would come up with something like this ....
FEMA has caught a lot of flack for creating a coloring book for children. The coloring book was supposed to inform children about disaster-preparedness. So there are pictures to color of various disasters - hurricanes, floods, etc. Then you come to a page where there is a picture of the World Trade Center twin towers. One of the towers has fire coming out of it while an airplane is shown heading toward the other tower. Download a pdf of the whole thing here.
Isn't this great! Give our children some crayons and a nice picture of the a plane running into the World Trade Center to color! Did they put any bodies falling to the streets below in the picture? Well ... probably too small to color. Maybe they could have put that in an insert.
Folks, this has to be a joke. I can't believe that someone would actually think that this is a good idea. Then again, we are dealing with FEMA employees, so maybe my expressions of surprise are absurd.
This is how the Democrats in Congress are trying to argue in favor of Obama's tax increases on small business owners. Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, took the floor of the Senate and made the following presentation to counter the Republican argument that Obama's tax increases are going to hurt small business owners.
To prove the Democrats' point - that only minute portion of actual small business owners would face a tax increase under the budget plan - Mr. Conrad displayed a poster on the Senate floor featuring a large photograph of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Mr. Cheney, who has been vocally critical of the Obama administration, would qualify as a small business owner under the Republicans' definition, Mr. Conrad said, even though only about $180,000 of Mr. Cheney's more than $3 million in income in 2007 came from small business interests.
Then, Mr. Conrad let loose a final dagger. "I would say, that's a tortured definition," he said of the Republicans' qualifications for small business owners, a naked reference to the Bush administration's interrogation policies for terrorism suspects.
Wonderful. You see what Kent Conrad did here, don't you? He presented to the American people the idea that Dick Cheney is representative of America's small businesses and is thus unworthy of consideration when it comes to worrying about tax increases.
The looters are in control ... and you job isn't safe. Unless, that is, you work for government.
Dick Morris says that Barack Obama has moved -- on issue after issue -- in precisely the opposite direction of what the people want him to do. When will this come home to roost?
Less than one quarter of US voters identify themselves as Republicans. Can you blame them? I still contend that most Americans are libertarians. Too bad the current Libertarian Party doesn't address them.
What's the latest on the release of the Bush memos on "torture?" Here's what the man who issued the memorandums as the head of the Office of Legal Counsel has to say.
What is one of the main priorities of our Department of Labor? Ensuring that illegal aliens get paid. Nice to know they have their priorities in order.
More details about John Murtha and his use of tax dollars to prop up a local airport in his district. Not that I have anything against airports, you understand.
For all of you who would rather read People Magazine and watch American Idol, I'm sure you were thrilled to see that Michelle Obama was listed as one of People magazine's 100 most beautiful people.
