HERE WE GO AGAIN ... TAX DAY!

The day is here. Tax day. For me, this day brings the excitement of a FairTax rally in Columbia, SC. For others, it will be literally hundreds of tea parties where you can bond in the disgrace of our gross government tax and spend policies. For others, it will simply bring frustration because they had to spend time filling out tax paperwork rather than watching American Idol.

Here we go again with THE TEST. Since today is the deadline for filing your taxes, walk up to a coworker and ask them how much income tax they paid for 2008. They won't know. There may be a few exceptions. VERY few. For the most part you're going to get some idiotic answer like "I didn't have to pay anything! I'm getting some back!" This is just exactly the way the government wants it. The whole idea of withholding was created to hide how much of your money the government takes out of your paycheck. Over the years many employers have tried to come up with some gimmick to illustrate the true tax burden to their employees, only to be shot down by the federal government. For instance, don't even THINK about trying to write a check to your employee for the full amount of their salary, and then requiring your employee to write a check payable to the federal government for their withholding and give that check to you to send on. You'll end up in jail in a heartbeat.

TAX PROTEST EVENTS TODAY!

Tired of all the taxes? Today's the day to do something about it!

People have started adding their local tax events in the comments. Great idea! Keep 'em coming! Look for a recap from both events tomorrow.

... if we're not there already.

For decades the left, with no small amount of help from Republicans, has been trying to shift the tax burden in this country so as to completely exempt at least one-half of wage earners from any responsibility for federal taxes at all. We're almost there if, as I said, we're not there already. Figures for 2007 show that the bottom one-half of income earners pay around 3% of all income taxes. Now, with all of the government hand-out checks being created by the Obama Administration, I would guess that the bottom half is getting pretty much a free ride. Give the left a few more years and we will, without a doubt, have one-half of the voters out there paying no federal taxes. Can't you see the Democrat's campaign advertisements now? "Vote for the Republicans and they're going to make you pay taxes." This is precisely why Democrats are getting excited over the prospect of a permanent Democrat majority.

OK .. I'LL ADMIT I'M JEALOUS

I'm excited about the tea party tax protests taking place around the country today. I'll admit, at first I wasn't all that thrilled ... but I've come around. I'm hoping that we have a collective count of millions of Americans protesting big government and high taxes before this Tax Day has ended. I think we all know that the media will do anything it can to denigrate these protestors and to write off the rallies as just some sort of a right-wing temper tantrum. Believe me, there are many so-called "journalists" out there who see these protests in exactly that light. These are nothing but a bunch of greedy conservatives who don't want to pay their fair share of the taxes that are needed to run our country and help the less fortunate ... right? Can't you hear it?

Jealous? Yeah. I am. I would love for these to all be FairTax rallies. There will, though, be FairTax signs and supporters at all of them. The simple truth here is that it is easier to be against something (taxes) than it is to be for something (The FairTax). But protesting the confiscatory tax rates of the Imperial Federal Government of the United States is a great start. Every day more people learn of the FairTax and like what they see. We can't turn this mess around in a week, a month or a year. Just keep plugging.

In the meantime ... annoy liberals, annoy the government, and annoy the media. Show up at one of these rallies and let them know how you feel about our tax-and-spend culture in Washington.

I'll tell you one thing: The people who show up at these tea parties are, for the most part, far better Americans than those who put this dangerous anti-capitalist into the White House. And yes ... I mean that.

WORKING ON A FAIRTAX IDEA

Actually ... it's an illustrated book. All I need is an illustrator.

Here's the idea. The book features a typical American family. This family has never known anything other than the FairTax. The breadwinner has always received his entire paycheck every payday. There has never been a dime withheld for income taxes, Medicare taxes or Social Security taxes. This family has never paid a penny in dividend taxes or capital gains taxes. They've never had to pay taxes on the interest they earn in their savings accounts or the profits they earn from their investments. They've never filed a federal tax return. In fact, they've never filled out a federal tax form. What's more, they have never had to worry about how much death tax the government was going to take when the breadwinner went tango uniform. The only time this family has ever had to pay a dime in taxes is when they purchased some item or service at the retail level.

Now ... along comes a politician with a wonderful new idea. He wants to change the tax system. He's trying to convince this family that they would be much happier of the federal government would tax 35% of everything they earn instead of just 23% of everything they spend. He is trying to convince them to support a new tax system whereby the government would take the taxes straight out of their paychecks. They would also have to pay separate taxes for Social Security and Medicare. In addition, they would pay taxes on any stock dividends they earn, as well as the interest from their savings accounts. Where they once had no tax compliance costs, they would now have to hire accounts to figure out their taxes for them. Where they once had no federal forms to fill out, they would now have to spend an average of 55 hours a year on federal tax forms. And ... to top it all off ... when they die the federal government would step in and take about 45% of everything that is left.

The illustrated book would show the shock, derision and outright disbelief that this family would show as this political hack tried to sell them on the very tax system so many of us suffer under today.

Whaddayathink?

I just love this. College students are flocking to "green" fields of study. They're listening to the siren call of Barack Obama and the environmental crowd and they're using their parent's money and four or five years of their lives to prepare themselves for "green" jobs. I can see this one coming. In about eight years these fools will be out there handing shopping carts to Wal-Mart shoppers and wondering where the hell their "green job" is. This is going to be wonderful stuff. They'll show up at some job interview somewhere and they'll be asked "What was your major at State U?" "Green studies!" they'll answer .. .and the interview will be over. You just have to love this. Resumes with "green studies" entries on them being tossed in the trash cans. Oh man, this is gonna be great!

Since we added this late during the show yesterday, we're popping up to today's notes to make sure no one misses it. We read some of this Homeland Security document entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" on the air. By popular demand, here's the link!

MUSLIM PIRATES

These Islamic goons tried to board another American ship last night. They were repelled. In the meantime their activities continue pretty much unabated.

Question: Why are the pirate operating bases still untouched in Somalia? Well, that would be because Obama wants to talk. He wants to reward the piracy by pumping money into Somalia to solve their domestic problems. Wasn't there a movie about this nonsense some years ago? Something about a mouse that roared?

A TENTH AMENDMENT COMMISSION

Yesterday we have Governor Rick Perry on the air to discuss his current efforts to reaffirm states rights as guaranteed under the 10th amendment. Here's a brief bit on what he had to say:

"I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state ... That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states' rights affirmed by the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union."

I couldn't agree more. And this one has to go into the category of "I told you so." I proposed in my book, "Somebody's Gotta Say It", the idea of a Tenth Amendment commission. It is absolutely the most widely ignored and abused amendment in our Constitution. Statists see the 10th "Amendment as nothing less than a potential barrier in the way of an ever-growing government ... at least that is what a lot of Democrats would have you believe.

If Democrats had their way the 10th Amendment would be repealed immediately. There should be no limits whatsoever on the power of the federal government. The Supreme Court has pretty much taken care of that for them.

HOW BRAINDEAD DO YOU HAVE TO BE?

When I say 'braindead' I think you will know what I am talking about when I tell you about this next item of Nuze. Matt Lauer on the "Today" show was all hot and bothered at the idea that Goldman Sachs may be able to pay back its bailout loan. He was speaking to the chair of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, Christina Romer. Here's how Matt handled the news of Goldman Sachs:

"I'm worried if you think if that's a good thing. Are they doing this because of financial stability or might they be talking about that, simply to get out from under the thumb of the federal government and be allowed to go back to running the business the way they want to run it as opposed to the way the government wants them to run it?"

OMG! Are you kidding? Just who do these Goldman Sachs people think they are? They can't be serious! We just cannot allow businesses to run themselves! That is not the American way. The Obama vision must prevail. The businesses may be private ... fine .. .but everybody knows the government must run them. We just cannot allow the private sector to run its own business operations.

NOW HERE IS A REAL WINNER

You'll remember the horrific massacre in Binghamton, New York just a few weeks ago. Well this is really rich. A government employee ... a union member ... a social services accounting clerk now wants compensation for missing his lunch break on the day of the massacre.

I kid you not, folks. James Kauchis is an employee of the Broome County Department of Social Services. He filed a formal complaint last week seeking the pay for the lunch break he didn't get to take when 13 people were killed.

That is a typical government and union employee at work. This person wants every inch of compensation for doing what .. taking a lunch break? This is truly a productive member of society. Someone who is contributing to the very fabric of this nation of wusses and whimps. The very people who believe that government is great and is there to serve them .. that the government always owes them something.
