What's sad is that more people in this country are shocked and horrified about the revelation that American Idol is fixed. More people are outraged that America won't get to choose the top four on American Idol, but they are not outraged that the man they have chosen to be president is spending this country into the ground. Or that Barney Frank and his wealth envy crew are on a mission to "recover" bonus money from AIG executives.

What others are saying

  • AI
Internet rumor. One of the predicted final 4 was cut.
  • recovering bonus money
When does the recovery begin on the unearned Congressional salaries of the financial oversight committees?" When does the recovery begin on Barney Frank's pay? If the AIG execs didn't earn their pay, then the Congressmen that fought reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac didn't earn theirs, either.
  • American Eye Doll?
My TV set broke a few months ago. It's now quieter in my house - except when a Neal makes a particularly outrageous assertion.

I went shopping for a new television. I decided against buying one. Why pay a lot of money for a television in order to send some money to the cable company every month in order to be able to watch something I don't really want to watch - certainly not at the price I'd have to pay.
  • Amer Idolotry
What I find particularly disturbing related to American Idol is the fact that not everyone gets a trophy.

Seriously, how some people can sit through an entire hour of this nonsense escapes me. Try reading a book for gods sake.
  • What is this American Idol you speak of?
Is it a TV show? When is it on?

You say it was fixed, was it broken?
  • American Idiot
This is the first I've heard of a fix on American Idol. I think the reason I haven't heard about this is because over the past few years I have finely tuned my brain to COMPLETELY ignore anything I hear or see about that insipid show. This is a very hard task considering that every other commercial on T.V. seems to hawk that god awful waste of time...And is it me, or is the volume for those commercials a LOT louder?
  • AI fixed?
    A. I. fixed? I hope Congress sees fit to barbecue Simon and Paula. But, not Randy, he's my favorite. WHATEVER....at least it sounds as if AI is better ran than AIG. At least they get paid for performance.
  • @ Gavin Volaire
It would be fraud if AI collected the fee. Unfortunately for those of us who would love nothing more than to catch AI in legitimate fraud and have them removed from the air, the fee you pay is to your cell provider, not to AI
  • American Idol
My dear “anonymous”, does Stalin live in Minnesota? From the Senatorial election farce going on up there today you would have to agree with his statement. If the Congress does decide to investigate American Idol, it would be better for us all since they would be distracted from spending more money we don't have.
  • Isn't...
...this how we decided upon our current administration anyway? If we're going the route of rule by reality TV then let's turn this thing into the UFC instead of AI. I can think of about a million Americans that deserve a roundhouse kick to the melon.
  • @By Jesse @ 03/18/09 08:39:49 AM
How do you know they can't sing if you don't watch? pwnd!

Don't they get people to text in votes? And isn't there a fee for that? Sounds like fraud.
  • YOU KNOW WHAT'S SAD?
It's very sad in general how people put more value on American Idol than the Constitution.
  • American Idol is Fixed!!!!!! OMGWTFLOL....
Seriously? I mean, how do you really know that more people care about the possibility that AI is fixed? Is it because you came across some random entertainment gossip article on the web? So then you applied the writer's opinion to a large segment of the American population? It is probable that more people who aren't old enough to vote care about it. Your argument that this is the "first American Idol Entertainment Tonight TMZ blah blah blah" President is getting tired. It is true that a large majority of people who voted for Obama are ignorant on the issues - and voted for him because of his charisma. However, I contend that a large majority of the American public is ignorant about the issues - and those people also voted for McCain/Palin - primarily because they liked Sarah Palin. I know some of those people. They are the same people watching American Idol - for entertainment value and escapism from this crappy economy - not because their lives revolve around it.
  • I think it was Stalin who said something like: those who vite decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything

just something to think about in general...not just pertaining to "reality" tv
  • Idol?
What's the difference in those who are hunching the leg of the "Idols" and those who are hunching the leg of professional sports bums?
This must keep their estrogen levels up.
  • Can't vote for Idol Winner?
This is probably a good thing; the #1 winners seem to be out-earned by someone who placed lower (e.g.,Daughtry)
  • Teachers Unions did their job
It looks like the Government schools and Teachers Unions did their job by dumbing down a whole generation.

Why do I say this. People are giving more thought about American Idol than their US government who is running rough shod over their Constitutional authority.
  • Doncha know...
that we're going to have a Congressional on this fixing of American Idol. Oh well, it beats worrying about teh important stuff where you have to think.
  • American Idol
    I never watch American Idol.
    99% can't sing.
