Webguy and Cristina keep forwarding me these emails of people who still have their boxers in a bunch because I supposedly do not address Barack Obama by his proper title! Can I send a message to this crowd ... get some Armour All and buff up the wheels on your house. We'll leave the email exactly as he wrote it.

Name: dan williams
Subject: disrespect
neal i have a question for you and i need an answer from you on this. why is it that i listen to your show and hear you refer to the president of the united states you never address him by his proper title? is it because of lack of respect for the man or the office he now holds. i always liked you neal because you side with the police on certain issues and i've been a police officer for over 20yrs now. but i need an answer on this neal. and if you're not aware that you are doing this neal, have some respect for the office he holds even if you don't respect the man. i heard you call pres. bush by his title? you are on the clock neal.

We get dozens of emails every day with know-nothing upset because I don't say "President Barack Obama" or "President Obama" every single time I utter his name. Accepted journalistic standards dictate that you give the man his title at least once in a news story ... after that "Mr. Obama" and "Obama" are acceptable. No matter what he and his followers think, he is not a king. You folks need to find something else to gnash your teeth over.

What others are saying

  • Bullying tactics
such transparent bullying tactics... this guy should realize that tricks like "repeating a person's name" don't work so well in text form. Typical police...
  • This President
Can we start calling him "this President" like the media and the Democrats did for Bush for, like, six years?
  • Dearest Daniel
You are a pinhead. Get a Shift Key. Or a spell checker. A brain would be good. I'm not calling that black leftist, wannabe socialist dictator President either. He's not my President either...I sure as h*ll didn't vote for him, and am looking forward to putting my vote in for screwing up his day with a Republican Senate and House in 2010. I'd rather vote Libertarian, but this crap in the White House has got to come to an end.

Is this all you have to worry about? Really? Get a life, bozo. And please excuse me if I don't use the honorific "Mister" in front of your name. Twit. Or should that be "Mr. Twit"?
  • How about Proper Puncation
Why is your name not capitillizaed if respect is so important to this guy?
    I love you Neal!
  • Writing skills
I find it funny how those that so strongly disagree with you often have poor writing skills. No words capitalized or properly punctuated sentences. I would hate to have to be his superior needing to read reports that look that poorly written. How did this man get hired? Communication skills are essential to the duty of an officer.
  • My Right
Dan, "I" will decide how to address him, not you buddy. If you wanna fist bump your dude go ahead. I tried to give him a chance and he failed me, and the rest of the country. So, no titles of respect are due. Freedom of speech.
  • That's not all...
And why does the press not transcribe every "uh" and "ah" when he speaks as they did whenever President Bush spoke? Probably because ink is expensive.
  • respect
Does anyone remember the clip of Whoopie calling our previous president "Bushy"? Now that is respect. But it is okay - she is a comedian and that means she is funny.
  • email
Mr. Williams claims to be a police officer. However, judging by this man's lack of grammar and punctuation, am I to assume he's a beneficiary of Affirmative Action?
  • Title
Perhaps your emailer would prefer you call him "King Obama"....I think "Comrade Obama" would be the most appropriate based on what he has been doing.
  • title?!
His job title is President of the United States. He does not get a title in front of his name. If memory serves, titles were banned when America was founded. No Sirs, Lords, Earls, etc.

I called Bush Bush. I will call Obama Obama. I called Clinton Clinton. I called the older Bush Bush. Do I need to go on?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
  • Title
Where has all the uproar been for the past 8 years when no one referred to Bush as President Bush? I don't remember the libs making such as issue of "respect for the title" then.
  • "Titles of Nobility"
I didn't refer to George W. Bush as "President Bush" either...I honestly thought you weren't supposed to do that?

President is his job, not his title.
    Anyone else hear this?
  • Imagine....
Not only will I not call him President, I am still not certain what the hell this community organizer's real name is. Are we or are we not allowed to call him by his real middle name Hussein?? Is his real last name Obama or Soetoro? Can you think of anyone who has so many issues and questions regarding their name, origin, etc., and this idiot is the President of our country in these trying times.

Seriously, think about it, imagine if someone who died just 6 years ago awoke today and you told him that the name of our new President is Barack Hussein Obama!!! He would fall back down dead again laughing!!!

    - His middle name is the same as of the tyrant we just went to war against!
    - His last name sounds like the world's #1 terrorist who is responsible for 9/11
    - and his first name sounds like a fart - Barack!

I still can't believe this is really happening - I think it is all one sick prank.
  • Not My President, either
I will not address him with the title "president".....I call him "44" or BO......When he has shown he has done something to deserve the title before his name, I will address him as such. The libs didn't mind belittling Bush. While I should be a bit more grown up than a lib, but why?
  • Just saying
For the Record, I always called him President Bush or Mr. President. On the West Wing, Martin Sheen said that's what you do if you have any class.

W-E, if you call him "that idiot," I'll still know who you're talking about... irrespective of the administration. XD
  • overly sensitive
These are the same nitwits who had no problem referring to Bush as "Bush" .... not that there's anything wrong with referring to him as "Bush".

Just for the record, I'm not going to say "President Obama", and I'm not going to say "African-American". And if you don't like it, you can kiss my white, Ukrainian/German-American ass.
  • Respect? 'Fraid Not.
If B. Hussein Obama requires a teleprompter in front of his face every time he speaks, what makes anyone think he's deserving of respect? Hell, did he take his teleprompter to his job interviews? Did he need it when he asked his wife to marry him?

    O: One
    B: Big
    A: Ass
    M: Mistake (for)
    A: America
  • President Obama
Does this d1ckhead know where the cap key is on his computer?
  • title tizzy
Not only will I NOT precede his name with "President", but I think "Mister" is about out for me too at this point.

I will henceforth call this teleprompted genius by his most deserved and rightful title
    - Karaoke Krusader
  • Mr. president
wHEN I watched the first press conference, I noticed that the black reporters addresed the President as Sir. Almost everyone else addressed him as Mr. President.
  • Respect my A$$
    Obama is NOT MY President.
  • Respect
I have found people who do not respect their audience will fail to provide proper punctuation in their written communication. This letter is a common example of that effect.
  • I remember the Democrats worked hard to show their respect for the office and Bush's title. Who can forget "President Bush lied, people died!" or "President Bush is just like Hitler!"
  • support
You've got to be kidding me. Former President Bush was drug through the mud every day. The newsies were pretty disrespectful of him and his title pretty regularly. Where was the outrage then?? I think most of former president Bush's supporters just shrugged it off to media bias. I went down to the soup kitchen to volunteer the other day, and guess what? There are still homeless people out there!
  • Respect
Respect is earned not handed out by the Government.
  • You said this same thing about two weeks ago, but I've noticed since then you usually don't even refer to him as "President Obama" on your first reference. I can't stand the guy either, but show some common decency.
  • Respect
Respect is earned, not handed out like popcorn
  • Respect where it's due
Give him a break, he never complains when I call him Mr. Boortz the first time and Preachy McPedo-sadist each additional time...
  • "President Obama"
I was never a Bush fan. However, the fact that Charlie Gibson, Tom Brokaw and others only called him "Mr. Bush" was annoying and petty. Don't do as they did. Even through gritted teeth, addressing him as President Obama shows that you are better than the network goons.

Or are you? I sure hope so.
  • President OBozo
I don't understand this nonsense of "Even if you don't like/respect Obama, you should still respect the office and call him President."

That is backwards! It is precisely because I DO RESPECT the office that I won't call this unaccomplished, inexperienced, unqualified, radical, Socialist, America hating, community organizer a President. It is an actual disgrace that this idiot ever be adorned with the title President. To take a page from his despicable bitter cow of a wife, I say that "For the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country that we have put an embarrassment like this in the White House."
  • Try This
Want to have some fun with your friendly neighborhood lefties?

Remember the popular Dem saying about Bush, "not my president?" Try that one with our current Prez and see how that goes over with them.

Foaming at the mouth is common, but don't worry, Democrat men are generally weaker than Republican women so they will be unable to cause any physical harm.

Barak Obama, not my president. How do you like it.
  • Steve in Tulsa
    Great Comment!
  • Leftist minion at work
Sounds like a leftist minion or two has been assigned to harass Neal on this point on an ongoing basis. Pathetic, especially considering what Bush was called during his eight years in office. If I were on the radio, they would hear that bleep in office being called things a lot worse.
  • Disrespect
Was this letter written to Neal in all lowercase? How disrespectful to Neal, President Obama, President Bush and our country not to capitalize proper nouns.
  • Where was this clown
WHere was this clown, and people like him, for tha last eight years of President Chimpy McHilterburton? These people do not love the office of the president; they are in love with the dude with no resume.
