Some internet site called "someecards" has a card you can send to your friends. The card reads: "Remember to use birth control when nailing the underage daughter of an anti-abortion vice-presidential candidate during an election year." Ok ... y'all keep that in mind, OK?

What others are saying

  • Dave
In the Van Susteren interview, and as far as I am aware that is the only there is, Bristol Palin specifically refuses to say whether or not she used birth control or even answer anything that might suggest it. I don't believe she would mention anything about birth control or education relating to it, in fact, except for saying that abstinence was unrealistic.

The question to society at large is not the relative effectiveness of condoms and abstinence, but the relative effectiveness of abstinence-only education and more realistic options that include birth control.

The data shows that teaching birth control is vastly more effective than abstinence only education.
  • To; Charlie Scot
I know they used a condom as much as I can know....she said she did in an interview I saw with her.

I assert that Condoms are not as effective in preventing pregnancy as is abstinence...I further assert that this situation furthers that position...do you argue with it?
  • and whose fault is it?
As much as all this wasn't fair to Bristol, it was absolutely Sarah Palin's fault for making it a political issue, cavorting about about how great her family was because they kept the baby rather than keeping the whole thing a private issue. That's an incredible horrible, exploitative, and cruel thing to do. It's also pure dirty politics, trying to throw out a political point at the expense of your daughter and make said point untouchable on the basis of responsible campaigning.

Sarah Palin made the whole thing an example of her morality and made it so that bringing up the relationship with her own opinions on birth control was unacceptable. You can't have it both ways, and you shouldn't try to use it in any way, regardless.

Now, it would likely have been made an issue of regardless of what anyone did, but the way to handle it was not to discuss it publicly at all.

It's especially depressing since Bristol is clearly far more intelligent than her idiot mother. The father seems similarly stupid, though.
  • Not irony
I don't see the irony in this because there is none. If Sarah Palin was pregnant from an affair(say with Jesse Jackson, John Edwards, Bill Clinton, or any of the other countless liberal politicians out there spreading their seed, that would be irony). Children, no matter how they are brought up will fail from time to time. Where is the irony in personal responibility, from a family sticking together, and from a life not being extinguished because it was an inconvenience?
  • How do we know?
How does Dave know they used birth control? Was Dave there? What was it like, Dave?

I must have missed that video.
  • Birth Control Reminder
The card isn't even funny? It's not that I'm offended because I've laughed at way more offensive material than this. It's just not clever, at all. Can't the haters come up with something better?
  • Birth Control Remender
If the shoe was on the other foot you Repubs would be laughing your @sses off. Rude? Yes, but then most teens are and at least you can say this on their level.
  • For TRUE rudeness..
C'mon, Neal! That's not rude! THIS is rude:

Stick to your political comments and leave the rudeness to the big boys,ok?
  • E-card
I am a strong conservative and I found the card to be funny. However, I would like to make a few points.

Both mother (Sarah (down syndrome baby), and daughter Bristol (with her new baby)) have demonstrated their conviction and passion as being pro life. Neither placed their convenience over the life of the babies.

I also think it is important to point out that the Palin family did not change their convictions when faced with the situations...they are still all pro-life.

....and the DID use birth control...thus demonstrating once again that abstinence works EVERY TIME it is tried in preventing pregnancy...and condoms are often ineffective at that same task.
  • E card
I must have missed the election where Sarah Palin's daughter was running for office.Lets find out if the Obama children are having sex yet.Obama is right..leave the children out of politics unless they are out there speaking about political ideas.
  • Are you kidding me???
Bristol did nothing to bring the limelight on herself. Why does the People Magazine crowd want to dump on her, but the hold the Spears kids in such high regard. When Ms. Palin dangles her infant off of a balcony, then you can pass judgement.

Guess the irony is that the Palins aren't liberal parents that would be OK with their kids @#$%ing anything that moves so long as they use a condom.

Conservatives aren't perfect, they're just not dead wrong on everything!
  • Classless and mean
It is discouraging to see the utter rudeless and meanness displayed by so many of these posters. What is wrong with being polite, kind, loving and caring? Why all the vitriol? Don't you think that it is time to grow up?
  • The Card
Love That Card. I've got to send it to my nephew in Anchorage. I know he knows to be responsible, but it never hurts to remind him. After all he lives in a state that teaches "abstinence only", is half way between Bristol and Willow in age, and now Sarah Palin wants to be President (GOD help us all).
  • That was great!
Conservatives should nut-up and put aside their protective passion for Palin. There was a great deal of irony present with her daughter being pregnant, and this is valid humor. There is also irony in Palin saying 'we're proud of her and the CHOICE she made to keep the baby' ...a choice that she, if in power, would work to remove from everyone else's daughters.
  • sometruthcards
Conservatives...laughing at teleprompter jokes and then getting butthurt when far more grievious failings of judgement and policy are exposed for the lulzy irony they are.
  • someecards
    Liberals.....keeping it classy.
  • harsh but....
...surely you must pick up the irony in it?
  • ecard
