THE (NON) VAST MAJORITY

I've been hearing this phrase used by virtually every person in the Obama administration .. "the vast majority." Must be a new focus group term the Democrats have learned. They are, as you know, the party of focus group phraseology.

What I want to know is ..... what about that small minority? Who are those people and why aren't they being considered in these proposals? Don't our laws apply to all?

Oh wait, I know. The (non) vast majority are the achievers, the greedy rich, the small business owners, the capitalists, the investors, the successful. The Obama administration is making a point to ignore them completely, until it comes time to take their money and redistribute to fund his dreams and schemes.

The (non) vast majority. Those are the people the Obama administration should really be worrying about. But that won't score you many wealth-envy points .. will it?

  • Copyleft's Stupid Response
Does the use of the word 'stupid' in my subject automatically have people diving for the 'report abuse' link? I hope so.

    Copyleft.....

The 'Working Class' is the most important segment of the economy. Those are your words, not mine. What a bunch of horsesqeeze!

    - UAW: Your working class hero has the responsibility of attaching a bumper to every car that comes down the line. Without the engineers that designed the car, the business managers that market and sell the cars, and those that provide the capital for the car to be built your 'working class' entity would have nothing to do. Please explain to me in this context why the bumper installer is the most important segment of the economy for policy to focus on. If you think this is an unfair example then please give me another one and I'll explain it to you again.

If your first argument is because the bumper installer, 'working class' guy, doesn't make money, let me take that off the table:

Whether its the bumper installer, the person that spins the slow/stop sign at a road construction site, a window washer, a dishwasher or any other simple task related occupation the reasoning is the same. The fact that these aren't high paying jobs is simple supply and demand. With little training almost anyone can perform these tasks. This means their value to the overall profitability of the business is far less than those that bid the work, engineer the processes and materials to complete the work and front the capital to start the work. The 'working class' can be replaced with minimal impact to profitability and there are hoards of people ready to assume the role.

This topic goes deep, but I am starting to ramble. I'm just looking for a legitimate reason that substantiates your claim that the 'working class' is the most important segment of our economy.

  • I didn't
write this but found it scary enough to share.....

    A Page From History
Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 to December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.

The Socialist Party candidate for President of the U.S., Norman Thomas, said this in a 1944 speech:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.! "

He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform."

    It's happening, folks.
  • Affirmitive Action Negated
Well I guess if it's all about the vast "majority" then we can quit coddling the "minorities".
  • Half-Vast Majority
    and shrinking, I hope.
  • Pity the "Vast Majority"
They are the ones who will be truly screwed by Der Fuhrer and his fascist allies in congress. The wealthy have always know how to protect their money and will do it by moving it offshore and not starting new businesses or hiring more employees. Doesn't Barney Frank remind you of Hermann Goring?
  • The vast majority
...is what we call the 'working class.' And they, not the wealthiest few, are the most important segment of the economy for policy to focus on.

Should we build defense systems that work only on "the tiny minority" of threats--or focus on the biggest and most important? How about auto makers? Should they build only Formula 1 cars for the few professional racers... or build for the vast majority of drivers?

This is a pretty weak argument you're making, Neal.
  • protect the minority
I thought the very reason our system of government exists is so that the "vast majority" cant take from the non-vast minority? Aren't there EXTENSIVE writings by our founding fathers about protecting the rights of the few against the mob rule of rampant chaotic democracy?
  • evolution
Being that "the vast majority" actually represents a species somewhere between monkey and man, their opinions are normally moronic and meaningless, unless of course you're a focus-group Democrat politician.
  • "newspeak" checking in...
  • MAJORITY<MINORITY
Its mighty damn conveniant for liberal fools to trot out phrases like "the vast majority wants"to make it seem that they are doing what america wants but turn around and use bought liberal judges to throw out legal elections(BY THE REAL MAJORITY!)when it suits them. The the majority doesn't count in issues like more off shore drilling, gov. paid for abortions, school vouchers, gay marrage, illegal imigration, protecting our borders, wellfare reform, religion in school or the public square, hell I could go on forever but you all know the issues. THE SQUEEKY WHEEL GETS GREASED SO LETS BE A SQUEEKY MAJORITY WHEEL!
  • Green Day
I hate to quote these liberal Canadian Idiots, but if paying higher taxes is now our "moral" duty and the "vast majority" is in agreement...

"Down with the moral majority, 'cause I wanna be a minority!" -Green Day
  • The vast majority does not care
The beauty of democracy is that we have to respect the rights of the few (they live under the same set of laws as the majority) but the majority does not have cater to the few when deciding on policy. I am sure the feelings of the non-vast majority were considered, but (and probably rightfully so) mostly ignored for the perceived benefit to the majority.
  • Basic Marketing
Obama is trying to convince uneducated people that "everyone is doing it" even though it isn't true and he knows it. The average American will not take the time to verify anything a politician says. He will just follow the group assuming that there is safety in numbers. To quot ea line from Vision Quest, "Can 800 billion people be wrong? Frequently!"
  • Atlas Shrugged
Ayn Rand originally wanted to use the title "The Strike" for the book "Atlas Shrugged". Obama with his policies is going to force the movers and drivers in the economy to go "on strike" and just pull out from the American economy.
