Maureen Dowd says that the teleprompter is being pretty tough in Washington of late.

The Politico Whiteboard has a question today: Can Obama talk about anything other than AIG? I guess that depends on whoever is responsible for putting the words for Obama to say on the teleprompter.

With all this brouhaha in Washington right now over AIG bonuses, Chris Dodd is trying to undo the very executive compensation restrictions that he fought for in the economic stimulus bill.

Is Obama really going to yank the VA health benefits from our veterans? I guess if anyone would, this would be the guy.

A number of AIG executives are now resigning, thanks to the circus in Washington. They will be going to work for companies not under the thumb of Barney Frank.

What do companies like Intel and Lockheed Martin have to say about Barack Obama's policies? Something to the effect of "are you freaking serious?"

What is the actual cost of Barack Obama's plan to turn healthcare over to the government? Try $1.5 trillion over the next decade.

Reason Magazine explains how our government is stimulating us to death.

Remember when Barack Obama promised that his stimulus plan was going to save Caterpillar from laying off workers? Unfortunately that didn't turn out as he planned.

Guess what Americans aren't buying ... hybrid cars. But guess what politicians are forcing the car companies to produce .. hybrid cars. This is not how supply and demand works.

The AFL-CIO has promised RINO Arlen Specter that if he votes for this card check bill, they would help him survive his re-election. Yeah, no kidding. Will Specter cave? Does a hog love slop?

Do you want your healthcare system to be described as "third world"? Well then take a look at what is happening with Britain's National Health Service.

Here's some more comforting news. Russia has decided that it is going to rearm itself. Are they doing this because they recognize weakness in our current president?

Did you hear that liberal bloggers, political reporters, magazine writers, and policy wonks have an off-the-record online meeting space called JournoList?

Sheriff Joe out there in Maricopa County, Arizona says that there is no way in hell he is going to testify before a congressional committee about his alleged immigration enforcement abuses.

Rep. Corrine Brown of Florida just has to be one of the most braindead people in Washington. Here's her latest speech she gave on the House floor. I want to "gradulate?" "Okahoma?" "Coarch?" "Gusty play?" This is how they waste our time in Congress?

    It's not a race thing. I adore Condi Rice. Who was that woman who couldn't grasp the concept of censure when she argued against 'censoring' Clinton during his trial? Not Condi. Who was that other woman who couldn't think up the word 'nationalize' when ignorantly suggesting the government might take over the entire oil business while not knowing the concept of communism? Not Condi.
    Government education idiots electing people educated by government... ha... voters in Penn. thought Palin was Obama's running-mate. Ever since voting, they've been drunk and/or high on crack.
    It really isn't a race thing. Give me Condi, warts and all. I don't care if she's lesbo (as rumors indicate.) I really don't care if she plays piano naked while smoking giant cigars. Just give me a geopolitical savant with a photographic memory and a clean heart to run the country to the RIGHT.

    Ok, I don't know the policies this woman has made, though my prejudice tells me they are probably horrible and socialist. But do we really have to make fun of the way she speaks? It's just a way of talking, and to be honest, she's not misusing any words (well, except I guess when she said "Go Gator!" and pretty nonchalantly at that).

    This is the standard I'm working by: if you live in a place where enough people speak english and speak it often, and if enough people talk the way you do, it's a legitimate form of English.

    Corrine Brown's English fits this standard. So how about we make fun of how she's braindead instead, huh?

    Companies are wise to lobby against some of Obama's plans. Card-check, cap and trade, and the tax hike on exports will make it much more difficult for American companies to compete.

    I bet a hefty AIG bonus that the Idol-bots turn the channel when they figure out Simon & Randy aren't sitting in the front row ready to RIP the performance. LOL~

    I had to turn this off after 2:06. I'm not shocked she ran for political office. You can see how a government education works. Almost a shame the smart people are the leaders in private jobs. The stupid run for office, become teachers, or stay unemployed and look for handouts. After the election, I became sick for 2 months over the thought of the destruction of the US as we know it. Now the real idiots are fully in charge. Two years of some (Nancy & Harry) 4 more of total idiots.

    Ugh. I had the displeasure of having Corrine Brown give the commencement speech at my college graduation ceremony from Rollins College in 1998. She speaks just as bad now as she did then. How she continues to be re-elected is beyond me. I would be ashamed to have someone that inarticulate and unintelligible represent my state.

    I realize these emails (if even read) are read by a staffer and judging by the automated letters I receive, may be of little concern to you. But, if you would like to solidify your status with the citizens, servicemen and veterans of North Carolina, you need to seize this opportunity to become the most outspoken member of Congress on the VA benefits atrocity that our President is about to commit. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/17/obama.veterans/

    This is an opportunity to become a nationally recognized congressman. Why is it that we can seize tax payer money to pay for underachievers, overpaid union workers and irresponsible corporations (who all buy votes), but must make our national heroes pay for their own healthcare after making the most honorable sacrifices for our freedoms? This is a disgraceful re-neg of a promise made to all servicemen and can not be tolerated. I am reluctant to be so forceful, but I DEMAND you address this on a NATIONAL stage.

    Humm, I supect that Obama has made a very big mistake,or pissed in his mess kit as we say.
    Most if not all Veterans leaving the military have no health insurance at the time of seperation.
    Think for a moment, before you join the military you find out that if you are injured in the line of duty and if discharged you will have to pay for your own medical care. How long will it take for the enlistment rate to drop and the reenlistment rate.
    What would would be the incentive for putting yourself in harms way,another words protecting your country.
    For those that have not served don't understand this.
    Promises were made,to enlistes, writen and verbal years ago they must be kelp!

    Not sure if its true but I've heard for the pollution caused by making a hybrid you'd have to drive it a ridiculous amount to make up for that.

    You're better off buying a used car in good condition (making sure it has proper work done on it) because the "damage" is already done and was way less than the hybrid!

    Obama should keep talking about taking away veteran's health care. I don't think Congress will ever support it but "his" words will ring clear about how he feels about veterans. We can only imagine that this will come back to bite him in the you know what. Americans will not forget. And "if" he should get his way on this issue, you can bet your last dollar that the draft will be put in to effect. No one will ever volunteer to serve this country freely. Hold on there! Maybe that is the ultimate plan....THE DRAFT!!!

  • Russia Rearming
    Russia's new armaments program is NOT the result of any perceived weakness with Obama. This was a long time in the making, and due to a variety of factors I don't expect you to understand.

    Let me summarize a few little situations Russia finds itself in.

    First, Russia perceives the NATO expansion policy of Clinton and Bush as being a US attempt to restart the Cold War. Russia seems to mistake the stupidity of US policymakers with aggression. Not an illogical conclusion though.

    Secondly, they regret the position they have been forced into with regards to China. In order to keep their armaments industry afloat, Russia has had to sell advanced (by Russian standards) military equipment to China, which has long been undergoing a military expansion program of their own. Now that the Shanghai Co-operation Organization is taking on more characteristics of an effective counter-terrorism alliance, Russia feels the need to play catch-up.

    Third, this is simply a way for them to feel proud of themselves again. Russians don't like having their country humiliated. They think that if they have enough guns, then that somehow makes up for their corrupt government. Let them be delusional. In fact, we can even benefit from this obsession if we are willing to revive co-operation with the Russians in the War on Terror, like what existed shortly after 9/11 before the 2004 round of NATO expansion.

    In short, stop pretending that the mere fact that other countries have their own national security interests somehow means a belligerence towards America. The world is much more complex than Bush's "us vs. them" mentality. I think the same thing would be happening right now if McCain were president.

    The reason for the teleprompter is that the liberal media abused G W Bush because he was not an effective speaker. He was not stupid (No president is stupid, including Obama) but they portrayed him as a moron due to his speaking inability, therefore, to avoid this possible side effect, the teleprompter follows him everywhere. I know the liberal media will not allow him to fail but history has a way of looking at things that the present doesn’t see (take for instance the Red Scare from 1947-1957, looks like it was not so unlikely that communism was trying to make an influence in this country, we do have a socialist President after all, what next?)

    Hybrids don't make economic sense, I don't know why people buy them. If you want an economical car that saves fuel buy a Civic or a Corolla. 35+ MPG and under $18,000 new off the lot.

    The Government is just showing their ignorance again.

    Also the future is pure electric, either from batteries or from hydrogen fuel cells. Hybrids are a gimmick.

    I didn't know the CEO of AIG was a government employee. I didn't know President Obama could fire anyone he chooses on the basis of morality. Does that mean he can also fire me, if I am deemed "immoral"?

    I didn't know AIG was a government-owned company. I THOUGHT they were privately owned.

    As to your comments yesterday on President Obama wanting to turn a disabled vet's healthcare over to private insurance upon discharge from the service:
    Most insurance companies will not accept patients with pre-exisitng conditions. I would assume that missing a leg, arm, or other debilitating injury would be looked at from the insurance company's view as a pre-exiting condition, so there would likely be no available coverage for veterans unless insurance companies were forced to provide coverage.
    How good would you imagine the care to be if it was forced to be provided, regardless of cost?

    So the government can't even run the VA Health Care system properly.

    Taking care of our veterans should be a higher priority than most else our country does, since they protect our very country.

This is political correctness run amok that she even graduated high school with this kind of communication skills, much less have multiple higher degrees from somewhat respected universities! How in the heck did she get elected to public office? She must live in a gerrymandered district where 90% speak ebonics and think she is eloquent. She is an embarrassment for the state of Florida, and anyone who graduated from a state university.
