A must read: 'Manchurian Candidate' Starts War on Business by Kevin Hassett.

Peter Orszag, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, says that the fundamentals of the economy are weak. Yeah, more positive talk to get things moving again.

Are you ready for the battle? Healthcare is taking center stage in Washington. Obama and the Democrats want to make you even more dependent on government. Trouble is .. that's just fine with most Americans.

Hugo Chavez wants Barack Obama to follow the path of socialism in leading the US out of this economic crisis. Hugo the Horrible needs to pay more attention. Obama is already on that path.

Iran has test-fired a new missile with a pretty hefty range. Don't you think this is something to worry about, compared to salaries of corporate CEOs? Wait a minute! Was that a CEO I saw getting off that private jet at the local airport last week?

Top Democrats added an additional $524 million in defense earmarks to the 2008 appropriations bill. These are for projects that the Pentagon does not want or need.

Last week Joe Biden made a speech to the AFL-CIO in Miami. Don't worry, Biden made it VERY clear that unions will be rewarded by this administration.

A state housing agency in Minnesota is launching a new program to offer Islamic mortgages to home owners. Let a state agency offer Christian mortgages and the ACLU will pop a gasket.

The Minnesota Supreme Court rejected Al Franken's request for an election certificate that would seat him in the Senate.

Considering the current economic crisis and the current mindset of our leaders in Washington, there has been a lot more talk about Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." Here's an interesting compilation of blog commentary about "Going Galt." Too bad I'm not quoted. Then again, I'm AAA.

House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner says that GM isn't going to get any more bailout money without a plan of how to repay it. Is the House Minority Leader saying that there was no repayment plan for the billions already given to GM? Well, here's a plan ... let them fail. John McCain seems to agree with that .. he says that the best thing for GM would be to let it go bankrupt.

Massachusetts is considering a "Hummer Tax" that would force owners of "gas guzzlers" to pay higher fees when registering their vehicles. Massachusetts is a Democrat state. There is not one penny earned and held by a private citizen that Democrats do not covet.

John Kerry wants to make sure you know that the "Animal House" party days are over for U.S. banks.

The Prime Minister from the UK came to visit Barack Obama last week. That didn't go over too well. Apparently Obama was suffering from exhaustion from handling our economic crisis.

This column from the Boston Globe pretty much sums it up: the science of climate change is not nearly as important as the religion of climate change. But if you are OwlGore, you get defensive when somebody dares to question the religion of climate change.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta has withdrawn his name from the running for surgeon general. Was this a Bill Campbell moment? I'll explain on the show today.

At an Ohio government school, 700 people applied for one job opening for a janitorial position. Government jobs are golden when government is king.

What are your children learning about Islam in their school text books? How about the fact that some textbooks don't acknowledge the 9/11 hijackers as Muslims.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is spending more than $173,000 to train liquor store clerks to be nice to customers.

What is America's manliest city?

Obama voters told to leave hunting safety class.

For you aviation nuts, take a photo tour of Air Force One.

What others are saying

  • That Woman From Kansas
    http://representativepress.blogspot.com/2006/08/what-is-left-on-cutting-room-floor.html

Here is a link on Ahmadinejad. In this discussion, he speaks mostly about democracy for Palesinians, rather than specifically about a one-state solution. If this is propaganda, it is at leat better than the typical pro-Israel garbage. Whatever take a person has, you have to be stupid or completely dishonest to claim that the Palsetinians haven't been wronged for decades by the Israelis, or that the Israelis aren't the aggressors.
  • Smooth Operator
The Ahmadinejad quote that Gordon Brown used before the Israeli parliament has roundly been called a intentional misquote for reasons of pro-Isreal propaganda. Maybe the sources I have read are wrong, but they at least give an explanation for their reasoning, rather than just claiming Isreal good, Iran bad. You hardly did a thing to refute the link I posted.

Alo, how does being anit-Israel make a person a "left-wing moonbat"? Nothing I posted enev hinted that I'm a leftist. My guess is that you don't even know what a leftist is. My opinions on Israel are fairly similar to those of Sam Francis, Pat Buchanan, Joseph Sobran and many other conservatives. You miror Sean Hannity, Bill Kritol, Norman Podhoretz and others like them. You tell me who the conservatives are.
  • @Red Leader
I'll dissect your bovine scatology point by point:

    "Spooner is absolutely correct...
Iran is a 3rd world country with no military capability to reach the U.S. If a 3rd world country has the ability to bring America to its knees, then that is your obvious reality check that America needs to start taking care of itself. Iran is not a threat to mainland America.Period."

Uh,no. They just help fund, train, indoctrinate, and export Islamic terrorists just like the rest of the Islamo-fascist states across the Middle East.

"Israel is not America's responsibility to give welfare to."

What's wrong with supporting Israel? They're just about our only ally in the region, and we share intel, to boot.

"We need to start worrying about the American border and not Israel's."

Actually, 900 million American dollars of Obamessiah's stimulus bill is earmarked for the GAZA border, which means it will likely end up in Hamas coffers.

"America needs to stop funneling money it doesn't have into both Israel and the middle east shari'a law countries that probably pass it on to islamic radicals(Saudi Arabia)."

I'd rather it go to Israel than the Palestinians or the Wahabi bastards in Riyadh.

"Guys read the books by Chalmers Johnson and former Bin Laden intelligence agent Michael Scheuer."

    Read this:

Former head of the bin Laden unit at the CIA and sharp critic of the Bush Administration, Michael Scheuer, writes in his 2002 book, Through Our Enemies Eyes, that Bin Laden “made a connection with Iraq’s intelligence service through its Khartoum station."
    Link: http://www.pajamasmedia.com/2008/03/what_the_pentagon_report_misse.php

"The middle east is simply reacting to American colonialism mentailty. We see what the founding fathers' reaction to colonialism was. Why do we pretend it will be different for the middle east?"

Using your convoluted logic, we practiced "colonial mentality" when we fought back against the Nazis, Italian Fascists, and Japanese Imperialists. Newsflash sweetpea: To fight back against an enemy attacker you hit them where they live and breed. In the Middle East it's like this: PICK ONE.
I'm a former Soldier and Iraq War vet. Had it been up to me, I'd have destroyed 3/4ths of the Middle East on 12 September, 2001. That's how you fight a jihad.

"So what if Iran is testing weapons?"

Yeah, so what if a rogue, belligerant, terrorist state tries out some new (nuclear) weapons? Maybe we should ignore the gargoyles in North Korea, as well. You're a genius.

"Lets take a pro-America constitution first stance."

I'm all for it. As well as the protection of our national security.

"Get out of the middle east...we can't afford it!!!"

There's an entire region of the world chock full of Islamic zealots hellbent on a world Caliphate. We cannot afford to let them succeed.
  • Going Galt
As a follow up to the going galt roundup, I've got a serious idea:

    Cut your withholding.

If you want to make the Feds feel your anger about taxes and spending, hold as much of your money as you can until next April.
  • To everyone claiming Iran is not a threat
I think anyone who underestimates the threat of the Iranians is in for a rude awakening. Idle banter and diplomacy will not work with this group - they think, Ahmadinejad in particular, that they have been tasked by Allah to bring about the 12th Imam, the Islamic messiah. They have stated they will vanquish the "Great" and "Little" Satans (The US and Israel respectively) and have urged Muslims to envision a world without the United States.

"But they are a third world country, how could they attack us?" They wouldn't have to directly...give their bomb to a terrorist organization and either launch it from a container ship right off our boarder or bring it across our northern or southern border. While it is easy to say that "that'll never happen!"...we didn't expect an event like 9/11 would happen either. I don't believe such an attack would focus on only one city either...these people don't want to frighten us, as I said, they wish to destroy us. It is fully possible they are planning a crippling attack on multiple targets simultaneously, although I fervently hope that is not the case. I would urge President Obama and his administration to not underestimate Ahmadinejad's eschatology - to do so could be a costly mistake with a price tag of countless lives.
  • Air Force 1
In the second photo, I notice that Mr Obama did not bother to look at the officers he saluted. Nice, very nice.
  • Irony and his Texas theory
Irony wrote: "we need to do various things to stop TEH TERRORISTAHS, and then turn around and call New York a bunch of sissies."

Actually, Irony, I wrote that y'all voted for Hillary Clinton. The rest is conjecture but I think you got it right for a change.
  • Todd, the left-wing moonbats
Todd typed: "When did anyone in Iran threaten genocide against Israel? It hasn't happened"

This is just one of HUNDREDS of links on the topic. Here's a choice one that I chose from the LIBERAL International Herald Tribune. It's actually an AP story, which makes it even more priceless.

    http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/07/21/news/Mideast-Brown.php

So Todd, you must be smoking the good stuff, eh? Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
  • Todd
Todd, I appreciate the link. "The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time" still doesn't sound like a one-state solution to me. If you have more info on that, I'd like to look at it. I've never heard that before reading your post.
  • NEVAR FORGET
It's so absolutely gut-wrenchingly hilarious how conservobots like $mooth can harp on and on about how good the war on terror is and how much we need to do various things to stop TEH TERRORISTAHS, and then turn around and call New York a bunch of sissies.

I guess in their revisionist history, the Twin Towers and the response crews to them were actually located in Texas or something.
  • Smooth Operator...
Hey smooth based on your 'genocide' argument when do you expect the U.S to invade China and large parts of Africa? How much do you think that might cost the American tax payer, and where is that cash going to come from if America is RIGHT NOW 10 trillion in debt? Lets wake it up Smooth and try on some old school traditional conservatism for a change instead of this leftist big govt, police the planet, military welfare neo-conservatism that is helping to kill the American economy and aiding Al Queada with their recruitment numbers.
  • Kerry's Animal House
With regard to Massachusetts' dimmest light bulb, I can't decide if he's more like Dean Wormer (couldn't satisfy his wife) or Neidemeir (fragged by his troops in 'Nam)... Thoughts?
  • Smooth
When did anyone in Iran threaten genocide against Israel? It hasn't happened. Israel has well-deserved enemies, but that's Israel's problem.

Your Nazi and Arab remarks are baseless, predictable and stupid.

What is the last nation that Iran has attacked? How many aggressive wars has Israel launched? That's what I mean by dovish.

Smooth, if you are an American, you need to get your priorities in order. Israel isn't your problem, and you are a fool to attack a fellow American for pointing out the obvious.
  • Mass. Hummer Tax
Has anyone addressed the adverse economic affect this could cause Rep. Frank's boyfriend's escort business?
  • Dear Todd
Are you by chance a member of the Nazi party? Or a member of CAIR (Council for American-Arab Relations)?

Because any nation (like Iran) that regularly threatens GENOCIDE towards another nation (like Israel) is not "dovish" by 21st century standards, period. Given that, I'd love to see what your definition of "dovish" is.
  • Ranking the Manly Cities - The Bottom 12%
45)Washington, District of Columbia (Barney Frank is very comfortable here)
46)Chicago, Ill. (Obama calls it home)
    47)Portland, Ore. (Who cares?)
48)San Francisco, Calif. (they gave us Barbara Boxer, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi and gay pride day. Thanks a lot.)
49)Los Angeles, Calif. (home to Hollywood geniuses such as Jane Fonda, Rosie O'Donnel, Sean Penn, Michael Moore and the like)
    50) New York, N.Y. (they actually voted for Hillary Clinton?)

    Bed-wetting liberal strongholds all.
  • mr. kettle, there's a pot on line 2 calling you black, I mean back
It's called greedy when corporate executives take private jets. What's it called when the president (our nation's executive branch, mind you) takes a private jet to sign bills in places other than his office?
  • That Woman in Kansas
You gave a CNN link that doesn't really say much. If you want to play duelling links, I'll give you a far better link than the boring, slanted and predictable stuff CNN puts out.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2006/jun/14/post155

If you want to think for yourself, then you have to confront the fact that Israel has far more weapons than Iran, refuses to allow inspectors to check their weapons, will not agree to arms treaties, ore even officially acknowledge that it has nuclear weapons (unless they've done so very recently). Israel constantly threatens its neighbors, and takes it as a right to preemptively bomb or invade at any time, and does just that. Compared to Israel, Iran is positively dovish.
  • That woman in Kansas...
I don't think you're understanding. Read up on WWI and see how colonialists invaded/intervened and drew lines in the middle east those people didn't want. What would Americans think if Iranians came and started redrawing the lines of America? They wouldn't have it. Again, nowhere in the constitution will you find "give taxpayer money to Israel" or "give tax payer money to middle eastern countries". Again look up Chalmers Johnson and his book 'Blowback'. The link you posted simply re-affirms that Israel is not America's responsibility...and again America has nukes and does not have the costitutional authority to tell any other country whether they can or can't have them. Sorry to break it to you.

p.s-Why doesn't America tell China and Pakistan to do away with their nukes?
  • DVD gifts
I wonder if the Obama staff were bright enough to know that North American Region 1 DVDs won't play on European/UK Region 2 DVD players. Besides, where in America can you buy region 2 DVDs?

Also most people I've met from the other side of the pond don't give a rat's arse about Hollywood movies. They have their own film industry and their own favorite stars. I once witnessed a co-worker going on and on about the latest Hollywood movies with a UK visitor who listened politely but later confessed to me he had never heard of the movies or movie stars she was talking about.
  • Animal house party days for banks?
25 years working for a bank and never got invited to a single "animal house" party. Guess John Kerry's right - been over a looooong time now
  • RE: Hunting safety class
Oh...okay...so because you put it down in assisted html we can't address your hypocrisy, Irony? Yeah, thats not a "no tag backs" comment at all and very mature.

The irony is, Irony, that your statement is no different than the instructors actions.

We here in Augusta, GA think that you got beat up by a redneck in school and this is your sad attempt at retribution.
  • Refresh Your Memories
    Todd, Lysander and Reality,

You need to refresh your memories.

  • Scott....
If Iran were a threat to America then why did Bush and Mccain not want to secure the border and take away entitlements from illegals and send them on their way home? Do you realize that the Mccain amnesty plan if put into play before 9/11 would have put terrorists on the path to citizenship? The same people saying Iran is a threat(Bush,Mccain,Obama) OUTRIGHT REFUSE to secure the border. It is either/or. It cannot logically be both. If Iran is a threat then we should see legislation that encourages every last illegal in America to head home, by reducing entitlements. Israel should not be on the American welfare recipient list. There is no way America can afford it. The islamic fundamentals are doing to America what they did to the Soviets, and using American military presence in the middle east as a convenient recruitment tool.
  • Unions...Death to the small business owners
What a sorry lot the Unions have become. I wonder how many small business owners will be forced to close their doors because of this intimidation bill. I wonder how many people will think it is a good idea when they lose the job that the small business owner created for them. You think unemployment is high now, just wait till the unions are calling the shots.

Don't think it will happen, I wouldn't bet on it. Just remember elections have consequences!!!
  • Spooner is absolutely correct...
Iran is a 3rd world country with no military capability to reach the U.S. If a 3rd world country has the ability to bring America to its knees, then that is your obvious reality check that America needs to start taking care of itself. Iran is not a threat to mainland America.Period. Israel is not America's responsibility to give welfare to. We need to start worrying about the American border and not Israel's. • Iranian Nukes
Scott: Ahmadenijiad stated that Zionism should be wiped off the maps, not Israel--meaning that he is in favor of a one-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians share land and rights of citizenship. You might not hear that on the Neil Boortz show, but the information is out there.

Tony: Israel has been using the threat of nuclear weapons over the region for 40 years, so it's no wonder that Iran MAY want a weapon of its own, just to even things out a bit.

How is Israel of vital interest to the United States? I don't care if Israel loses a war, never receives another dime of taxpayer money, has to pay back "loans" from U.S. taxpayers out of Israeli coffers, or has her agents (AIPAC) within the U.S. held accountable for their actions. Why would an American citizen care if those things happen? Outside of war, Americans should be happy if each were vigorously pursued! Israel is a foreign nation--remember the USS Liberty?
  • Pathetic Lack of Respect for UK
For anyone, and especially someone in the White House to say that Britain is just like any of the other countries in the world has little to no grasp of history or understanding of what our alliance with Britain has meant.

Britain was there when few others were. Have they been 'just like' China? Russia? North Korea?

If President Obama can't handle all of the job, he needs to resign and let someone who can get it done.

It's his choice to invest so much so fast in domestic policy.

Funny - I never heard President George W Bush (or any others) complain about how tough the job is. This president needs to man up.
  • Going Galt article
Maybe I am misunderstanding something, but what is the sense of someone not trying to earn income past the 250K threshold? Arent you only taxed at a higher rate to the extent of the difference between whatever you make over the 250K? You are still going to have more money in the end, right?
  • Iranian Nuke
When are we going to take Iran's nuke program seriously? When Achmenijad drops one on Tel Aviv? Its' long past time the world "community" woke up and dealt with these whack job countries-No. Korea and Iran are but a couple-and take them off the board?
  • RE: Lysander Spooner
Why do we or anyone else care if Iran has nuclear capability? Because Ahmadinejad has already stated that he would use a nuclear option to eliminate Israel. That's why. When we used nuclear weapons we did it under war time to save American lives and end a war. Iran will use it only because of ideological and religious differences. And if they would use one one Israel it sure as hell would not be long before one would some how show up here. That is your answer to why we care.
  • Shhhh!
Lysander, you can't introduce obvious logic into the equation! That throws off the justification for the neo-con's military-industrial complex!

I mean, sheesh, who in their right minds would build weapons to defend themselves from an agressive nation that invades other nations on a whim based on false information?
  • Iranian Missiles
So what if Iran has missiles? Iran is in a dangerous neighbirhood. Unless the U.S. attacks Iran, I seriously doubt that the U.S. is any danger. And even then I doubt that Iran would go nuclear if the nukes exist to do so.

Israel is threatened by Iran's conventional weapons, but that's not America's problem. Israel has earned her enemies!

Israel and America are separate countries, and Neil will be a better American once he get's over his Israel fetish and takes an honest look at what America's true interests in the Middle East are.
  • Iran fires test missle?
So what? Doesn't America test fire missles? I mean seriously if the only country on the planet that has used nukes to bomb people were telling you to stop creating nukes....would you trust them? If you were the only person in the room who didn't have a gun when everyone else did, wouldn't you also want a gun? Just logic. For the 'but they threaten Israel' crowd....America threatens other countries too just read up on the situation with Okinawans. Besides, where in the constitution does it say America needs to keep the entire nation of Israel on welfare while Mexican drug war lords roam the border? America needs to start protecting mainland America and stop intervening in other people's problems....for one there's no longer any money to continue neo-conservative military adveturism. Just simple hard cold undeniable fact.
  • The President Too Tired to Multitask
Wasn't it Then-Senator Obama that gave Sen. McCain a hard time when McCain wanted to temporarily postpone a debate to devote all energies to the emerging budget crisis...because a president needed to be able to concentrate on more than one thing at a time? Then his staff come up with the lame excuse that he can't look at foreign policy because he's busy with internal policy? -- And apparently those DVDs can't even be used on the UK equipment. How special.
  • Bank parties over....
How about the congressional parties? How about Obama's (and yes, I meant to not refer to him as president) cocktail parties...when are those going to end? When is congress going to stop being paid 1000 bucks an hour to make poor mistakes for this country? Decisions are reflect the views of NON Taxpayers! They represent those who pay taxes, so to be blunt...if you do not pay income taxes, I really think you should not get a vote. You are not paying for their salaries, you are not paying for the roads your old cars are distroying, you are not paying for the government schools your dozen or so children attend....this country has become the worst version of its former self...
  • Hunting safety class
Welcome the Redneck States of Amurcuh, where backwards twits let politics interfere with doing their jobs (volunteer or otherwise). That there are people so incredibly obsessed with their hatred of a segment of their fellow citizens is telling, indeed.

In before someone defends it with "well libs do it too", in an elementary playground manner.
  • School Textbooks
Given how rarely they mention all the atrocities commited throughout history by Christians and Catholics, I'd say it's a fair deal. The Crusades get, what, a page if that? The Inquisition maybe a paragraph?
