How about that stock market yesterday? The Dow is now below 7000. That's change you can believe in!

We've lost $3 trillion in American wealth since the election. Investors are walking away. Capital is on strike. Why? According to Investor's Business Daily, the people with the money just have no confidence in the person with the power. Not good.

Hey! I have an idea! How about a double-dip recession! Now THAT'S change we can believe it. Just do everything exactly opposite of what Reagan did to get out of the 1981 recession .. and expect it to work.

Victor Davis Hanson with an excellent column. He says that Obama didn't invent dishonesty in political discourse .. but he sure has a talent for it.

Saw this one coming .. Obama is willing to drop the missile shield plan in Easter Europe so that Russia will help pressure Iran on its nuclear program.

The Obama administration has made public some secret anti-terrorism documents from the Bush administration.

A case being heard today before the Supreme Court might determine just how far the Congress can go in regulating political speech. Heads up.

The Gallup crowd has done a study of American Muslims. You might find the results interesting. They don't apply to Snoop Doggy Muhammad Dog.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says Iran has enough nuclear material to build a bomb. Iran recently launched a satellite into orbit. If you can launch a satellite into orbit you can launch a nuclear warhead to pretty much any spot on earth. Meanwhile ... Obama is talking about canceling our plans for a defensive missile shield. WTF?

Pat Buchanan says that it is pitchfork time.

Blago gets six-figure advance to write a book. Anyone got six-figures? I can start writing as soon as the show is over.

This one is going to cause trouble. Thomas Sowell writes a column on the eloquence of Adolf Hitler. Then he mentions Ronald Reagan and ... (gasp!) Barack Obama. Before the end of the day leftists are going to be screaming that Sowell has suggested that Obama is Hitler.

You're kidding me, right? Madoff wants to keep his penthouse in NYC and another $62 million in assets? If he's allowed to be one iota better off than the people he scammed then there is something bad wrong with our bankruptcy laws.

The CEO of Freddie Mac is resigning after just six months. That's never a good sign.

Roll Call columnist Stuart Rothenberg wonders if the Republicans can loose even more seats in congress. Well .. judging by their continuing betrayal of their supports with mucho pork in the latest budget bill... I would say the answer is "yes."

Attorney General Eric Holder says that "waterboarding" is out of the question as a possible interrogation technique for terrorism suspects. I'm sorry but it is not a form of torture.

Here we have yet another Barack Obama nominee with tax issues. This time it is Ron Kirk, the nominee for US Trade Representatives, who owes nearly $10,000. He says he will pay up.

Democrats want to drag some of the Obama children's classmates out of their Sidwell Friends school and send them back to government schools. Will Obama stand up for these children? What? Are you kidding me? Not only no, but hell no. Not with the teacher's unions watching his every move.

A bipartisan bill has been introduced that would consolidate and centralize the information on how banks use bailout money. What a concept!

A bill to regulate cigarettes has been reintroduced in the Congress by Henry Waxman.

More change you can believe it. If you want to give away some money ... how would you like for Obama and Crowd to determine who you can and can't give that money to, and base that determination on racial quotas?

Right now it looks like Arlen Specter is going to be the lone Republican that will support the union card check bill when it comes up for a vote. I'm not too worried though ... the guy will be toast in 2010.

Apparently Nancy Pelosi has a naughty list .. would you care to see who is on it? Man I wish I was.

The Obama administration is still trying to fight the birth certificate crowd. Give it up, folks. The guy is president.

Remember the new $621 million Capitol Visitor Center in Washington? Turns out to be more trouble than it's worth. Sounds about right for government.

Want to take any guesses as to the median price of a home sold in Detroit lately? I'll give you a hint ... $7,500. No I am not missing any zeros.

A study by the Gallup Organization found that Muslims in the United States are far happier than Muslims in other countries.

How much taxpayer money is being spent to cure this guy from his phobia of speed cameras?

A new study is out: "Freedom in the 50 States: Index of Personal and Economic Freedom." Can you guess which states are ranked as the most "free"?

One out of every 55 residents in Louisiana is incarcerated, making it the #1 incarceration rate in the country.

What others are saying

  • Tinfoil market is soaring,
it takes a very special kind of stupid to believe that it's all the Bush administration's fault we're in the recession. (Unfortunately, that special stupid is present in about 56% of our country) I don't know if your comment was a response to other people's comments or if you said it because you just love Obama, but either way I can't see him or the congressional democrats doing much good. That article about today's supreme court case is one of the scariest things I've ever seen. That should be evidence enough.
  • Destruction of Wealth
That's the plan - destroy America's wealth! The Obama types despise wealth (outside of their own). In their minds, America must be crippled and the best way is to destroy its wealth: no wealth - less influence and power, no money - fewer dollars for the military and America is weak, no weatlh - Amercians are forced to relegate their fates to the ner' do wells of the world. A weakened America makes it easier for the "socialistic thugs" of the world to crawl out in the light of day do the harm they could only do in the dark of night.
  • Obama's Birth Certificate
To equate this story to these conspiracy theories does not make sense. These conspiracy theories cannot be easily proven false. He can easily show his the vault copy of his bc and end all speculation. Why would he not?
  • the blame game
I remember Bush getting all the blame for the tech bubble bursting and causing a drop in the stock market. The bubble actually bust in 1999, but was partially sustained due to the Y2K scare. But Bush, who came into office in 2001 gets all the 'credit'.

Now Obama comes into power and instantly starts talking doom and gloom. He passes the largest increase in our national debt, and says that he can't ensure there were will be ANY jobs created. The Dow drops about 30% after he begins his crusade.

But it's Bush who caused it... again.

I agree that Bush had a negative impact on the stock market. But what was once a 'correction' is now an all out freefall. I'm going to give Obi One credit for this.
  • clwampler@aol.com
It serves President Obama well to have 'birthers' focused on his lack of producing a simple document than spending time on his other policies.

Conspiracy? Maybe not, but we definitely have not heard 'the rest of the story'.
  • It takes a very special kind of stupid
to keep on yappin when it is obvious that every word you say drives the markets further down. or, it could be premeditated cause and effect. you tell me which it is Tinman.
  • Card Check
wow! card check is simply "...legislation that would make it easier for employees to join unions...". and here i was thinking that privacy and the secret ballot was the important thing.
why not skip elections all together and just force everyone to join unions. that would make it simpler yet.
  • It takes a very special kind of stupid
To claim that Obama has deliberately tried to destroy the US economy because of a stock market collapse that began well before he was elected, let alone in office and wielding power.
  • o'Bamanation
obama has succeeded in his goal to commonize / communize the usa to a great extent.

Through carefully skilled action he has broght economic ruin to America (peacefully) with the collapse of the stock market - So he has brought the acheivers down - to ground zero...
Meanwhile; bailing out all the scally wags and loosers with tax payer $$ to bring them up to ground zero.

Wonderful job - o great one. They should cannonize him immediately.

I'd ask obama to stop ruining my Country but he just doesn't seem to care. What a shocker there people!

Can we start a recall process?
  • mad tinfoil hatters
AWK829, I'm already concerned that Obama believes he's Abraham Lincoln. You don't have to look far to find examples of that.

Lincoln, as most people don't know, chucked the Constitution when it suited him. He suspended the writ of habeus corpus, and imprisoned tens of thousands of US citizens for the offense of saying they were opposed to the civil war. This included newspaper editors who wrote editorials criticizing Lincoln's very controversial, and unconstitutional, acts.

He also went so far as to shut down those newspapers entirely. Which I think might go contrary to the First Amendment.

He also arrested all the members of the Maryland assembly to prevent them from holding a vote. And issued an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court because of his opinions stating that Lincoln was committing unconstitutional acts.

Then there was the little business of ignoring the 9th and 10th Amendments. But it was all for the 'common good' and the ends literally justified the means.

Lincoln was the first RINO, according to our current definition.

So yeah, I'm a little worried that if Obama gets a pass for something as significant as being eligible to hold the position. What else will he do during his 12-16 years in the White House?
  • Definition of Transparency
Release of any information that supports bashing President Bush for Obama's political gain.
  • I agree with Brett
I used to file birth certificates, and what was released is an abstract, not a vault copy. I agree with Brett. He is hiding something. Otherwise, he would have given up a vault copy long ago rather than deal with all these lawsuits.
  • Re: Waterboarding
Until you have had it done to you, I don't think you are qualified to claim that waterboarding is not torture.
  • Hey, Laughing Boy!
If you really believe waterboarding isn't a form of torture, how about you volunteer to be a test subject. C'mon, put your money where your microphone is. How about doing it live on your show later this week?
  • Going down the $hathole
Dow below 7K: Does anyone know how much money the gvt loses with the loos on the Dow. I don't, but I bet it's alot more than what they'll bring in in increase taxes.
Keep penthouse: you bet he will and a bunch more. We've been scammed on a ponzi scheme in a brick and morter scheme, (google NuvoInternational) and the only people that get money back is the supposedly helping lawyers.
Birth cert: his own grandma said he was born in Kenya. How many Gma's don't know where there gkids are born?
Pelosi: man, is she gonna burn! Down, down, down, in a burnin' ring of fire.
Detroit $7500: Have you been there? Way to much!
Can't wait to read the history books on this time later. We won't be the greatest generation for sure.
  • obama's birth cert.?
Hey Neil I don't think the birth cert. issue should be dropped. Our job is to be a painful chanker on the ass of Obama as long as he is around and if this is causing any discomfort to him then all the better. Besides without an authentic genuine "Obama Birthday Certificate" HOW WILL WE KNOW WHAT DAY WE NEED TO MOVE CHRISTMAS TO?(hey AWK829,easy on the tinfoil hats comments...mine cured my pattern baldness)
  • Birth Certificate Nuts
brett @ 03/03/09 10:06:45 AM and those like you: You are giving the conservative movement a bad reputation with your "tin foil hat" rants about the supposed birth certificate issue. Go join the flat Earth society or the people who think the moon landing was staged. 99% of the world, including many staunch conservatives, consider the "birth certificate crusaders" to be a few tacos short of a combo meal.
  • Obama's birth certificate
If there were anything to this issue, the Clintons would have found it long before the Democrat Convention."

Possibly true. Except that the Clintons were no longer in the White House, and didn't have control of the same networks (FBI, CIA, etc) during the last election. And Hillary doesmnt have the same clout with the democrats that Billy had.

I, personally, am skeptical that Obama is not eligible to be President. But I am increasingly convinced that he has something else that is very significant that he is trying to hide. It's entirely possible that Hillary knows something about this. After all, she got a top-level position in his cabinet, didn't she?
  • If waterboarding is not torture
How do we hold the Bush Administration and CIA responsible for ending the use of waterboarding as an interrogation technique and putting us all at risk? Further, how do we impart Boortz' knowledge on what constitutes torture to John McCain, who clearly doesn't know what he's talking about when he says waterboarding is torture? What does he know about torture?
  • Muslim-Americans?
I hate when they do this: there are a group of Americans who happen to worship Allah (why not, given freedom of religion), yet the mainstream media decides to fractionalize them into a group called "Muslim-Americans". Yet the article clearly states these are Americans "like all other Americans".

    Why can't I be a member of a minority, a MAWG-American?
  • The 'Justice' Department
Hmmm, I seem to recall lots of people talking about how the Patriot Act was an unconstitutional piece of garbage that spat on the Constitution with reckless abandon, specifically the 4th amendment. Republicans and Conservatives kept saying it didn't violate anything and we totally needed it.

Now we have internal Bush Administration documents basically saying, "We're going to violate the 4th amendment and are thinking about supressing the first amendment, we have a holy war to fight here!".

Man, I love being right. Too bad they'll think of some ridiculous excuse when the writing's on the wall. Your boy Bush and his cronies didn't care one whit about the Constitution, and actively moved to subvert the rights of citizens.

Happens on both sides of the aisle, folks. Welcome to US Politics.

In other news, John Stewart reams Obama's congressional speech and Pelosi's gophering, and what a surprise to not find any mention of it here. Guess it's so you can all act surprised the next time it happens in due course, and keep crying about "libuhrahl bye-ash".
  • Water
"Attorney General Eric Holder says that "waterboarding" is out of the question as a possible interrogation technique for terrorism suspects. I'm sorry but it is not a form of torture."

According to the Army, the US Supreme Court and nearly 70 years of US legal history; according to the conventions and treaties we wrote; according to the prosecutions we have brought against regimes and the condemnation we have heaped upon empires; according to all this, it is.

Oh, but I forget. Who cares about the rules when there's terrorists! Eeeek!

Terrorism isn't about killing, it's about creating fear. When you're willing to sacrifice our values, you've given in.
  • the birth certificate crowd
Neal, if you think your readers and listeners should follow your suggesion of "Give it up, folks" and accept the apparent situation, you ought to follow your own advice and shut the hell up and quit complaining about the IRS, government schools, illegal immigration, etc.

Yes, it's nearly impossible to believe that Obama could get as far as he has and not have his elibility checked by government officials. Because you know how efficient the government is.

Imagine if there was a certain investment broker who had been in business for decades. Now imagine that some people thought that maybe he wasn't completely legitimate. So they call the SEC. And the SEC investigates this fictious investment firm about 2 times a year for ten years. I know, this is a completely ludicrous idea. But what if the government, in their infinite wisdom, determine that there are no shenanigans and this imaginary guy is totally legit. Then imagine that suddenly it was discovered that this guy actually was a conman and was bilking people out of millions.... perhaps billions of dollars. I realize it's not likely to happen... but it's possible. And if it IS possible, don't the people who would be affected have the right to know?

Here's the 'proof' that Obama has offered so far: a digitized copy of a certificate of live birth, uploaded to his own website. There's no way a digitized image can be faked, right? Oh, and he wrote in a book that he was born in Hawaii.

    That's it.

Here is what he has done to prevent people from further investigating, and blocking their demands to see a true birth certificate:

    - Spent approximately a million dollars on legal fees to block all legal actions to provide an original birth certificate

    - Blocked access to all college transcripts which would provide his citizenship status

    - Blocked access to passport information, which would provide similar information

    - Had a closed door meeting with supreme court justices, rather than present his case in court

Considering he is trying to have the most transparent government in history, shouldn't he begin with himself? And doesn't common sense dictate that showing his actual birth certificate to his detractors would quickly make them look like idiots (as you seem to think they are, Neal)? Instead, Obama covers himself in a veil of secrecy.

The citizens of the United States of America have a right... no, an obligation to see documentation of Obama's eligibility. Once we have that, we can all get on with our lives. It is Obama, not us, that is causing the controversy. And you, Neal, are proving yourself to be a hypocrit by demanding that your listeners take action on the issues that you deem important, while implying that others are foolish for taking on what is possibly the most important issue we face in the history of the presidency.
  • Fair Tax
If Obama wants the Dow to rise, all he has to do is say he is looking at the Fair Tax solution. The market would probably go crazy...and in a good way.
  • Well said Chuck... Madoff.
    Good points Chuck!
Madoff! I think it is about time we have life sentences for fraud like this...maybe even the death penalty!
  • Obama's Birth Certificate
If there were anything to this issue, the Clintons would have found it long before the Democrat Convention. Move on to something else.
  • Bailing out of my 401K
It's funny how the Democrats talk about 'fiscal responsibilty' and wanting to look out for 'hard workin' Americans'(notice how politicians drop the 'g' off the end of a word to try to sound like one of 'us'?. As my 401(and everyone else's)nosedives, I don't hear anything about saving the 401's. It's okay, I moved most of mine into cash and put it in low yield, but safer areas. I don't want the government touching investments. We've already seen how badly the Feds(yes, that includes Bush)mangle everything they come in contact with in our private lives. That's the whole point! We trust the Feds to bolster failing banks, manage automakers, prop up companies that should be allowed or even pushed to go chapter 11. How's that working out? People like Copyleft( you should hide your real name, your Mom and Dad can't be proud of you!)want to punish achievers and 'level' the playing field for those who don't want to improve or enrich their lives. They want government to do it for them. Especially if it means punishing those of us who do make the extra effort and don't take the easy way out at every turn. The only garuntees I want in life are that I can have my freedom, live as I choose, and help those who need help when and how I decide to, not as Congress or the President dictate. We're better than that. At least, we used to be. Stop trying to do me favors, Washington, I have worked my butt off to get where I am and didn't have 'help' along the way. A lot of people have done the same. Let's hope that by 2012, we still have that freedom, you know, the freedom to sink or swim without politicians choosing who does and who doesn't! I feel Like William Wallace anymore. I just can't get my head around the kilt thing, but I'm not afraid to fight to preserve my freedom! It starts with electing honest, smart, politicians. You have to look hard, but they're there.
