Did you lose a job recently? Has half of your retirement income vanished. Have you had to go back to work in what were supposed to be your retirement years? If so .. then the mere sight of Barney Frank must disgust you. And then, of course, there's Chris Dodd. Well .. while you're struggling to survive, you might be interested to learn that the Congress is currently debating how college football picks its #1 team. Yeah and this is going to affect your life how?????

What others are saying

  • An Important Omission
Boortz fails to mention that this is being spearheaded by Republicans (those whose teams were excluded from the championship this year). It's kind of amusing because usually Republicans love monopolistic abuses.

Obama's involvement is limited to a comment he made during an interview during his campaign. I don't think Frank and Dodd are involved at all.

It's also rather strange that Boortz is suddenly somber over the plight of the victims of this crisis. This being the same guy who blamed the victims of a hurricane for what happened to them. Somehow, I have my doubts of his sincerity.
  • I despair
Does anybody in politics give a crap about the American people (besides the people in sports)??? Are we paying Congress for this? And what business is it of theirs anyway???

Where's Daniel Hannan when you need him? Crap...Other side of the pond.
  • Waste of skin
This is just the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg. Do you realize how much time they waste making blueberry the official flavor of the month of June. Congratulating the little league of Fargo, North Dakota on its win over the 5-year-olds in Podunk, North Dakota. Renaming the Post Office in Imaidiot, Somestate to honor Whatshis Face. The incredible stupidity goes on and on and on. AND WE PAY THEIR OVERBLOATED SALARIES to do it.
  • College Playoff Debate in Congress
As a person that cannot retire for I joined the WTID (work til I die) program before it was even cool, I would appreciate our representatives and senators actually trying to correct problems they have caused. Also, the fiddle player in the Celtic Women video is fine.
  • Where's the outrage over this BCS crap?
I suppose that's been pre-empted for the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

This is just another reason everyone in this administration, every dem in congress and every RINO needs to be thrown in prison.
  • WTF!?!?!?!!
I am all for a College Playoff. I despise the BCS. I long for the day that 16 teams can play it down to one champion with no doubts on who is the best.

But to see this...I, I, I just don't know what to say. I am stunned, baffled, in a state of shock!

WTF are these people doing? They have time for this but can't read legislation that impacts every American in this country?

Change has come ladies and gentlemen.

This change is scaring the living S*&# out of me.

Hey Obamatard, dude, WHAT IN THE *&^* ARE YOU DOING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  • Barney
Listened to some of "Mumbles" Frank's comments on the news earlier, and managed to decipher about every fifth word. How did someone so incoherent and incompetent get elected to public office? Whoops, sorry, I forgot, the dumb masses!
  • Well look at the bright side
at least they aren't passing any retroactive taxes.

Once again our government has it's nose where it doesn't belong. Leave it to congress to ruin college football. Yes there needs to be a playoff, but it isn't the govnerment's place to come up or legislate one. They ruin everything they touch.
  • Copyleft
Copyleft....oh.....how can someone so mindlessly adore government? There are some corrupt and incompetent CEOs out there, but at least I am not forced to give them half of everything I earn like the greedy, corrupt, and incompetent babboons in the government (especially congress). The free market has a wonderful remedy for incompetence.... those businesses go under. Unfortunately, nothing can be done about the idiots in government. Clearly voting doesn't work....the idiots outnumber the smart voters.

And before you start whining about being forced to give them bailout money..... it's the very same idiots in government forcing you to do that. It's not the company CEOs themselves.
  • Go Gators!
  • Getting Somewhere
The sight of Barney Frank maybe disturbing, but not as bad as the sight of George W. Bush and his fellow anitregulation republicans that got us into this messin the first place.
  • It's about time
It is about time the senate worried about something important. How college football picks its #1 is just as important as just as important as some of the things the senate has been looking into here lately. The best thing about it is know matter what they come up with it would not be a messed up as what we have now.
    Thank you Sen. Hatch.
  • Great Idea!
They should also get around to selecting Oscar winners, American Idol winners, and judging of gymnastics and figure skating!
  • Contact Your Senators and Congressman!
I contacted both senators and my congressman this morning. I linked the article and said...

Rome is burning, and the government is worried about college football playoffs?

What a complete waste (worse than usual) of the tax dollars that are stolen out of my husbands paycheck each week.

    Sincerely,
    ATC
  • Getting somewhere
I still have both my jobs, but the mere sight (and sound) of Barney Frank would disgust me regardless of my financial situation.

Not to fear, though. Congress will get the BCS straightened out just as they have done with steroids in baseball...
  • FIRE THESE MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAN WE FIRE THESE MORONS? I mean it, I am sick of this BULLSH!T going on in Washington D.C. Lets start with so called President bark obombit and work are way down. I don't just want demorats heads the RINO's as well.
  • Another way to look at the sports issue
Since the vast majority of what Congress does is actively harmful, shouldn't we be overjoyed that they are wasting time on trivial nonsense? If their attention is diverted to inconsequential trivia, then they aren't working on truly bad legislation.
  • Which jocks to sniff
Be careful! The AIG mess was crammed on all the news channels to divert our attention while they passed unconstitutional legislation.
Don't let them do it to us again.
Everyone keep looking around this, it very well could be a facade.
    The socialist are sneaky!
  • Politics
Just another log added to the fire of hatred for all the (fillintheblank) in Congress. Can we create a punitive tax for the salaries of all federal politicians? I like the 90% mark we read about earlier this week!
  • Congress
    God help us.
  • Cowboy, Jub, etc.
I bow to your wisdom along with Abe Lincoln.
  • Congress Fiddles while America Burns
Pipe down Neal! Let them go into their corner and play with their crayons and coloring books and quit mucking up our laws and country. Everything they touch makes things worse.
  • gradulation to duh Flawda Gatuh
Speaking of college football in Congress......

You gots tuh see duh videe-uh. Dis be uh Flawda cungressnul reppuhsennuttiv:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2gIsUCDDfI
  • Copyleft
I can see that Copyleft is drooling once again. Man, you must be dehydrated.
  • Congress VS Millionaires
Given the choice of waving a magic wand and having a group disappear from the face of the earth I would choose that for the Congress. I would keep the millionaires because generally they employ people and last I looked the fellow signing my paycheck was rich. I think we should build a wall around the District of Columbia with no doors.
  • Congress' picks
I'm not too upset by this. When they do real work, we get scrod (past pluperfect tense). Lets get 'em concentrating on sports picks, and maybe they won't pass any more bills of attainder.
  • Nuts
As Abraham Lincoln once said, "The only time the country is safe is in the summer". "That's when congress is out of session"! For the government educated there was no summer session as there was no AC.
  • at this point...
I think Congress is so incompetent I'd rather have them addressing something that doesn't matter.
  • Ignorance
I do not pay my tax money for these morons to monitor sports!!!!!!!! I don't care who gets what money, it's sports, it's entertainment, it's not worth government involvement. I get crazy about the regulation of sports. For all I care, let them all take steroids!!!!!!! STAY OUT OF SPORTS.

Are they going to regulate contracts paid to Harrison Ford? Bruce Willis?
  • Congress' Picks
Football picks? Complete morons. Another good reason for term limits NOW!
  • All things considered, would you prefer these bozos
    "fast track" health care reform.

debate how college football picks its #1 team.

Personally, I like option 3 ("move to adjourn")
  • For God's sake (not to mention my freedom and wallet) shut up!
As long as these idiots are wasting time on things that don't effect me in any way, they aren't doing any more damage to my freedom or wallet.

This sort of thing should be encouraged, let's find as many meaningless things as we can to keep them occupied for as long as possible.
  • College #1 debate
Talk about your classic "fiddling while Rome burns"....

They have time to debate this but no time to actually read the biggest spending legislation ever passed....amazing.

Why is this even something for them to consider? I've written this comment several times as I am absolutely stumped by these people.

I truly wish one of them would walk up and justify Congress' time spent on this issue....but I'm more likely to have a unicorn delivered FedEx....
  • Still trying to shift the blame, eh?
No, I think the outrage is still directed quite properly at the greedy, corrupt, incompetent CEOs and finance directors who CAUSED this mess with their incompetence, Neal.

Nice try at shifting the blame. We'll see how many people fall for it and coming charging to the looters' defense... after they took PUBLIC BAILOUT MONEY.

Fight for those millionaires, you peons! FIGHT!
