March idiocy. No, I don't want to be in your office pool. The pro's farm teams are having a little playoff ... wonderful. I wonder how many of these "college students" could read the accounts of their games with a mild degree of comprehension.

  • seriously
Neal, take a pill....or a drag or something. You need calm down, seriously. You sound like a grumpy, old fart bringing this up. I'm not going to try to convince you to get involved with college basketball, b/c you seem like a stubborn ass, but maybe you should at least stop poopin' in everyone else's Cheerios.
  • Deacons are smarter than Aggies
I guarantee that the athletes at Wake Forest, my favorite school, are more intelligent than the athletes at Mr. Boortz's beloved alma mater of Texas A&M, which, by the way, is a "government school."
  • Sports
    (this has a copyright)
It ain't a real sport unless EVERYONE gets a stick.
  • Cap and Trade, Bill?
    It's baseball season already?

Cap and Trade: charge a fee to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Pay a tax for the privilege of exhaling!
Tax cheats suffocate! Be expensive to be a politician what with all the hot air they emit ...
  • Sports Nuts
Anyone who sits on the couch and watches sports is the biggest loser I've ever encountered. These pathetic morons ride around town with those stupid college logos or "professional" team logos on their cars, decorate their offices with UGA or Tennessee emblems and talk all day long about how they are excited over what rank their team is in. Who cares? You are a drooling dipwad who has nothing better to do with your life, other than go deer hunting and chew tobacco. If you have any Nascar emblem on your car or office wall, you're twice as bad, because you obviously slept with your cousin at some point.
  • I Love March
Get over it Neal! This is the one time where I get to relax and enjoy something. There is nothing wrong with having an outlet. Don't you enjoy golf?
  • March Madness
Neal, I agree most of the time with you, but to tell you the truth, this is the only time of the year I really sit and watch sports. College Basketball is the highlight of the year for me. There is so much passion to win, and so much desire to be the best, it's infectious. If only we could take the determination, desire, passion, and commitment and feed to to the koolaide drinkers out there and have them apply it to their Government run lives, then maybe we stand a chance at reversing this train wreck Obama and the DemonCrats are creating. I have two children who are growing up and will be left with this mess. I have such difficulty understanding WHY anyone thinks the way these bleeding heart liberals do. Then I tune in and I am reminded of the atrocities of government edu. ANYWAY, Lay off my college basketball, find the positive in it, if people had the heart and drive some of the basketball players have, then maybe the next election will turn out differently, but I do agree that some, less than more tho, could barely read the accounts of their games with a mild degree of comprehension. I bet you tho that they could make a rap abulm! Which if congress would pass the fairtax their lack of education and high record sales equates to lots of money spent.... you get the picture.
  • come on
Neal- I love you long time, but get over it. I am a self-sufficient pharmacist that enjoys sports. It is a nice diversion from the politics of the day.

This is my favorite time of year and I am proud that my team, Purdue, has very intelligent, hard-working STUDENT ATHLETES on its team. Most are majoring in management, finance, or some other real major- not phys.ed. The team GPA is above 3.1 (I believe a couple have 4.0s) and these are not thugs. They are very well-spoken young men that work hard on and off the court. Quit generalizing about all athletes and realize that a large percentage of college athletes end their athletic careers in college... and have a nice degree to show for it. Multiple engineers, pharmacists, and businessmen have been past members of Purdue's basketball teams... so they bounced a ball to have their tuition paid- good for them. Sounds like they learned to work "smart". Isn't that half the battle to being successful... learning to work intelligently to get yourself in that position? I would think that all the preaching you do about working smart or working hard would keep you from missing the point that most of these kids are doing exactly that!
  • College Sports Madness
I will not watch college sports until the player are paid. Why is it they are the only ones not getting paid?
  • A bit jealous, are we Neal?
I find it ironic that Neal spends so much energy putting down those in society who hate the rich simply for being rich and he then turns around and denigrates sports simply because those who play it are gifted individuals.

Perhaps he could never get the girl in HS or college because the hot, young girls almost always go for jocks.

Hating the wealthy bad; hating jocks good.
  • sports psycho's
I have no problem with people who like to watch sports...but it is amazing how incredibly ridicules people are with it.

I have a neighbor who painted his whole fence after "his" team colors...I look at these people with pity. They have NO life.
  • how many could comprehend?
If you are asking that question about my beloved Tarheels or their hated rivals the Duke Blue Devils the answer would be ALL OF THEM. Both UNC and Duke have about a 95% graduation rate for their basketball players, and many of them come back to school and get their degrees even if they leave early for the NBA. I can't speak for the rest of college basketball but you can kindly leave UNC and Duke out of your references to thug culture because they don't recruit, tolerate or sanction that kind of behavior in any way. I'm sure there are other universities that operate the same way just are there are those that operate with a blind eye towards bad behavior because of the win at any cost mentality. Generalities and broad accusations of this nature do a disservice to everyone, and make you look foolish to boot.
  • sports
Spectator sports are for all the lazy people out there that think they are sports fans but are too lazy or fat to actually DO anything active. How can it be fun to watch someone else play a child's game? And some of you guys actually pay money to watch someone that won't grow up play a child's game.
  • We get it
Okay, we get it, you don't like sports. So, as they say moving on. However, consider this Neal: My friends and I who choose to watch and play sports for entertainment are all conservative self sufficient contributors to society who despise the left and what they think of this country as opposed to other people I know who live for American Idol and The Office who not only voted for Obama but could not tell you what card check is, or cap and trade, or probably not even the three branches of government. Think about it Neal, what crowd would you rather hang with?
  • March Madness...
Bring on the boys of summer!
  • March Boredom
Personally, I would rather watch grass grow in the desert as opposed to watching the "thug training camp" finals.
  • To me......
The only thing more boring than watching golf is watching basketball.
  • NCAA Tourney
    Neal is a band geek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • March madnesss
Couldn't agree more, Neal. I eagerly look forward to the moment it's over. The instrument has yet to be invented to measure how little I care about it. Fortunately, my friends have figured out that it's a waste of time to talk to me about it, much less ask me to get into a pool.
  • basketball
i'd rather watch paint dry. but that's just me.
  • March Madness
You seem to be down on sports, Neal. I agree that America seems to be more fixated on sports (and American Idol)than on important economic and political issues, but I happen to enjoy sports quite a bit and participate in the occasional pool; it's one of the few enjoyable distractions I have left. It does not mean I could not write a cogent article on the differences between socialist and capitalist economic systems or name the 9 U.S. Supreme Court justices (although sometimes I forget Stevens - which is okay since he's 88, he tends to forget things too).
