EVEN MORE TAX BURDENS

And on top of all of that nonsense about a tax system based on "fairness" .. we have an administration that is knowingly going to increase the price of energy in this country, and tax the businesses and the wealthy in order to make sure that it is "affordable" for everyone. In other words .. energy is going to become a "right."

Here's the routine. Obama brings us massive new taxes on virtually all forms of energy. You will then have to pay more for heating your homes, keeping your lights on, paying for gas. Then the Obama financial wizards will come up with a whole new welfare system to pay people, out of taxpayer funds, who cannot afford the new energy prices ... the poor, poor, pitiful poor and middle class. These new welfare checks will, as is Obama's habit, be called "tax cuts" or "tax breaks." And who will be the people who will get these wonderful new tax cuts under Obama? That would be the people who pay little to no taxes to begin with. These tax breaks aren't tax breaks .. they are welfare checks in order to subsidize the increased cost of energy for the Democrat voting base - the poor.

The Democrat "strategists" will go on CNN and Fox News and tell everyone how Obama is giving tax breaks to the majority of Americans .. and we'll buy it hook, line and sinker.

  • why not call it tax breaks?
    So you complain that everyone will be paying for these taxes as they are passed on to the consumer. ie: You are calling the increased cost of home heating bills "taxes"

    Then you are complaining that they call the hand-outs to those who can't afford it "tax breaks".

    Pick one or the other and your argument will be more effective.

  • "RIGHTS" not from the US Constitution...
    ...but rather from that bastion of individual responsibility, the United Nations.

    I'm certain that the RIGHT to health care is a UN mandate. So too would be housing, power, etc, etc....

    Wonder if Awl Gore is ready for the jump in energy prices? I think President G.W. Bush is, what with the solar & rainwater collectors installed in Crawford. Those who do, do; those who can't make fictional movies about it.....

  • Sorry Joe, the ultimate goal is complete control
    We can debate the tactics they will use, but the ultimate goal is complete control over our lives. In the end, it really doesn't matter if private firms are under "heavy regulation" or under direct government ownership and control. The result is pretty much the same.

    Fascism and Socialism are pretty much the same thing; it's just the accounting rules that are different.

    The US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources is no longer controlling energy issues; this has been moved to the Environment and Public Works Committee by Harry Reid so that Barbara Boxer can control the cap and trade legislation. Reid was concerned that too many Senators on the Energy and Natural Resources were from states where natural gas and coal are used to generate electricity.

  • When the money runs out...
    ...the people depending on them will find out the difference between right and privilege, not that they will learn from it. They will also find out what a politicians promise to take care of them is worth, not that they will learn from that either.
    The dp raising taxes on energy in a recession reminds me of the old medical practice of bleeding sick patients.

    Isn't this exactly what the mullah's in Iran have done? They've subsidized the price of gasoline and energy so that the people won't overthrow them. Not only does the President want to talk to Ahmademejad, he wants to rule like him too.

    I am not even in the top 25% of wage earners in the US and understand that all of this is horse puckey...It is unfortunate that the EcoNutts can't use the trash being forced upon us by those they elected as biofuel, at least then they would have an excuse for their vote.

    Wouldn't it be easier to just assign everyone a code, and then (for example) when we go to the store, a blue card gets you milk for $1.00 a gallon, a green card $3.00 and a red card $8.00....then no credits or rebates are needed...

    You call them "welfare checks" to what end? To insult them?

    They're laughing all the way to the liquor store with those checks. They want more of it.

    Shame won't work on that segment of the population anymore than it'll work on the President.

    It seems like everything that Obama and his merry band of tax cheats and socialists say and/or do is the very opposite of everything that is American. The Democrat Party has been around all of my life and beyond, and I know there has been a huge surge to the left since the times when Sam Nunn was our senator, but do you think all Democrats in Congress are on board with this radicalism?

    Nothing is exempt for Socialist Democrats. I am sure they are even considering our sex organs and middle finger length for inclusion of things to tax. Of course if you are poor or disadvantaged, you will be given a tax cut, while the rest of us will have them cut out! Obama is just an absolute idiot, and his willing coidiots, Pelosi, Reed, Biden, Schumer, Frank and Dodd will be happy to take us to oblivion.

  • This has been coming for years
    Also expect to see this applied on other resources, such as your local water supply. The plan is simple as well as brilliant, simply because most people do not realize that only end consumers pay corporate/business taxes. Because of this ignorance, the left has been, and will now increasingly burden the supposedly immune and sainted "middle class", and the poor with the taxation required for their agenda. It also serves their goal to limit and control private consumption, by making goods and services more expensive for all consumers. The government can then control what does get consumed by granting “rebates” or other forms of welfare directed towards things that they wish us to be able to consume.

    This is just another step towards the ultimate goal of a centralized Soviet-style “command and control” economy, where bureaucrats decide what you will be able to buy, and how much. It’s a brave new old-world!

    Look his tax and trade taxes was a poorly kept secret during his campaign. Only members of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" such as Boortz, Hannity, and Limbaugh tried to bring this issue to the forefront where it was ignored by the other members of the press. Anyone remember his San Francisco interview where he admitted that fuel prices will “skyrocket” under his plan? This is going to happen and we are going to be dragged into a hell of out of control energy prices until Congress once again creates artificial price controls (Carter flash back!). The goal of high energy, gradual nationalization of the energy network.

  • Fairness=Reparations
    Anyone remember the reparations argument a few years back? It really goes back to the "40 acres and a mule" promise that Sherman made to ex slaves who would take up arms against the Southern armies during his rape of the South. It was just so much bull. Well, it looks like Obama is trying to make good on that promise. The only problem is that a good mule and 40 acres of good crop land costs out the wazoo nowadays. My reasoning may be warped, but I blame Sherman for this entire mess.

    (AP) - Presidente Barack Obama's Treasury secretary says the administration will unveil a series of rules and measures in the coming months to limit the ability of international companies to avoid U.S. taxes.
    Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday that Obama will propose legislation to limit U.S. companies' ability to shelter foreign earnings from taxation in the U.S. He also said the administration will try to limit wealthy Americans' ability to use tax havens to avoid taxation.

    Well he certainly has the best man on the job for this. Who better to find a tax cheat than another tax cheat? I tell you folks the guy is pure genius.
