Let's try something new...an open thread for you guys to play in. We'll kick it off with the news that Bristol Palin and her fiance have broken things off. Do you think the marriage plans were just a show for the election? Discuss. And, while we're talking about teens, have you browsed the photo gallery on your teens phone lately? You might want to get on that.

  • Bristol
    (1) This is not news. It never was. That is why...
    (2) Everyone has their limitations with tabloid attention. How many celebrities have ended relationships over less attention? She's not even a celebrity by choice. The media is so vicious today. I've pretty much given up on all news.
  • EBT Cards
Blue eyed devil mentioned EBT cards in one of her comments and I wanted to talk about those for a moment. When I was in High School I worked at a grocery store as cashier. It was a good job for a High School student, and it really opened my eyes to the type of people we share this country with. Anyways, for those of you who don't know, EBT cards are the equivalent of a food stamp credit card. The cards carry a monthly allowance of whatever the government allots for a family or individual. With the EBT card you cannot purchase alcohol, tobacco, non-food items, or prepared foods (like those cooked chickens in the plastic containers or stuff from the bakery/deli). Other than that, you can get anything you want, candy, ice cream, ho-hos, chips, whatever. Now I don't know how much is alloted on those cards, but I know it's no small amount because I've never seen a card user with a store brand item or a discount brand. That infuriates me. I'm a student and a veteran and I can't afford brand name items or $300 dollars in groceries, not even in a month. Why do these people get it? I've also commonly seen EBT users go through the line twice, once paying with food stamps and again with their alcohol and tobacco and pay cash. Lastly, what irritates me most is that when these people go through the checkout line they won't tell you their paying with food stamps, the won't say E-B-T, they don't want people around them to know they're paying for their groceries. These people say "ebit," so that it sounds like "debit." Then, when you as a cashier press the debit button, they get uppity and show you their EBT card, to which you reply "Oh, you're paying with food stamps." It's disgusting.
  • Um, Bristol *Didn't* Practice Abstinence...
    >

This is flat-out retarded. If Bristol had practiced abstinence, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant. If anything, her actions reflect poorly upon the leftist "sex-without-consequences" motif.
  • Sexting
Tell me. Why is it exactly that kid need a cell phone, let alone one with a camera? I am personally glad they are passing this law, perhaps it will cause these brats to get their act together and, oh I don’t know, behave.
Seriously, lil girls give a picture of themselves to their "boyfriends" then are shocked when it winds up on the net.

If this doesn’t teach kids a lesson in morals, nothing will. At least wait till they are 18 to start sending the pictures of themselves off.

On a separate note; so the Palin girl got knocked up and she isn’t going to marry the child’s father. There’s something new, but at least the child's dad has a texted picture of the mother for the memory books. Or his phones gallary.
  • Bristol / Fiance
Getting pregnant and getting married is the responsible thing to do. Figuring out that a certain marriage might be a disaster and backing off is also a responsible thing to do. We have two kids trying to make responsible decisions and our sleazy national-media meat-grinder is all up in their business. Is it any wonder they are reconsidering their options?
  • Random drug testing

  • Bristol Palin
Neal ! READ MY LIPSTICK !!!! THIS is ridiculous and you know it !

Sarah Palin Fan ALL THE WAY !!!! She's the only one who has proven she can and will kick a$$ in this government !!!!!
  • I agree with most commenters...
...Why does what the former vice-presidential nominee's daughter have to do with anything? I supported the family's decision to stand behind her, but that only represented Sarah's business.
  • Bristol Palin
When I saw the Republican Party parade Bristol and the babydaddy in front of the nation at the convention I knew it was an election season sham. If those two kids really gave a damn about each other they would have gotten married immediately and insisted on privacy. They would have spent the evening together in Alaska, not making a scene on tv. I'm surprised it took this long for them to break up. I hope Sarah Palin is busy studying her Margaret Thatcher and Jeane Kirkpatrick speeches and history. She'll need to take the gloves off in 2012. I want to see what she can do without being hitched to a moron like McCain.
  • Pebblebrook-What REALLY happened
I am a student from Pebblebrook High School.

Recently, our social studies department started what we are calling a "Presidential Pledge" as a follow up to one of President Obama's speeches. In his speech he gave a call of action to the youth of America to graduate high school and attempt at least one year of higher education. As a student, if you feel that that is a goal you can accomplish, you can sign a list of names (AKA the pledge) that will be sent to the president. No one is forced to sign. The pledge is simply a piece of paper with a quote from the speech on top and lines for students to sign below.

Here is the quote that is at the top of the pledge...

"So tonight I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. This can be a community college or a four-year school, vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma. And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself; it's quitting on your country. And this country needs and values the talents of every American."

I assure you that no one is trying to influence the opinions of students and no one is telling us to pledge allegiance to Obama in any way, shape, or form. Perhaps it was a miscommunication between student and parent which led the ignorant parent to call in. Whatever the situation was, you know the truth now.
  • Why
Why are we even discussing Bristol and he sex life. can you imagine the outrage the liberials would have if we would have this discussion on one of there kids?

"The most important part of the Employee Free Choice Act is that it makes sure that a first contract is reached. Mediation may be requested by either party after 90 days and if no contract is reached after 30 days of mediation biding arbitration takes affect." -- from a union website

    Help me understand!

If the businessperson who has this binding arbitration forced upon him refuses to heed the ruling, what are his options? What are the actual sanctions?

Is the Federal government going to FORCE the business to run in the red? To lose money?

Or, is the businessperson going to FIRE EVERY EMPLOYEE and start fresh?

I think everyone should worry about their own lives.
  • Ms. Palin's breakup
Well, maybe her engagement was a ruse, then again - maybe not. If it was a ruse, it wouldn't be the first time, now would it???
  • Bristol Palin
I knew the "marriage" plan was just a cover-up for the mistake these kids made. None of my friends seriously believed they were going to marry. What a joke. And Sarah Palin can prepare herself to be a (minor) footnote in U.S. history, where she rightfully belongs. She should never have been nominated for the ticket in the first place. McCain might as well have conceded the day he picked her.

On another note, what the hell do kids who should be studying their asses off, need with camera phones?!
  • kids and cams
I must have missed the day in Parenting class where someone explained why a teen needs a picture phone. There are phones that are significantly less expensive and function really well as PHONES without having internet, cams, etc.

    I'm just sayin'.
  • Grades
I'm currently in a public school, a liberal breeding ground. However, I fail to understand how teachers cannot draw the parallel to success in the Classroom and success in Business.

If I work hard, and get an A in a class, and a student who doesn't work hard has a failing grade, why not take some of the grade from the hard working student and give it to those who need help.

Regardless, the teachers are less then willing to draw the correlation between grades and financial success because it would betray their political views.

Just an interesting parallel i thought could use some examining; Damned evil hard working students.

Why is a teen marriage with a baby headline news? Is Bristol running for office? Was she even campaigning? If this was your neighbor, would you care? And, does anyone on here realize that Boortz doesn't care and is trying to bait us into a conversation on the irrelevant?

  • Palin/Obama
Bristol Palin-who cares? Does not effect my life, nor should it effect anyone else's.
Obama- Do we now have TWO Obamas? One does not hesitate blasting capitalism, the stock market, talks gloom and doom everyday, goes after a talk show host and goes on a wild spending spree. The other Obama NOW wants to instill optimism in the economy? Where in blazes was he when the economy was tanking even more?Oh yeah, I forgot, once he got all he wanted (so far) in the first 50 days, he can revert to the positive second Obama.
Can somebody PLEASE make a "Countdown to the 2010 election calendar"?

I think they did plan to get married. However, reality set in, as it normally does in a relationship, and they split up. They just had the misfortune to be dragged into the middle of a presidential race. I wish them the best, and I hope they're able to work things out so they can raise their son properly.
  • Pebblebrook High
Schools website just posted that the Pledge rumors are completely untrue.

  • Palin Breakup
I am old enough to remember when girls were taught to say "no" to boys until they were married. Often the old fashioned way was the best. There certainly were fewer children raised in households with no man present. The "if it feels good, do it" mantra is irresponsible.
  • welfare reform
Bravo to random drug testing for welfare recipients. This should be the absolute next (and first when you think about it) step in reforming welfare. The liberal freaks and politicians who rely on the bought votes of the entitled masses will argue that random drug testing costs money and will drive up the costs of welfare, inducing even more burden on the taxpayers (a great many by the way who are drug tested either on a regular or random basis).
Yeah, drug testing costs money. But after the first two months of RDT, following a reasonable and initial Period of Warning, I'll swag an estimate that we lose a couple hundred thousand off the welfare rolls - and even a small fraction of that [now] non-dispensed, non-redistributed cash will pay for a lifetime of RDT's. And don't even get me started on that invasion of privacy bulls*it. Me and millions of other Americans have our "privacy invaded" by RDT's all the time. You want the money? Piss in the cup. Of course, this opens up an entirely new market in "clean urine" - especially since a lot of RDT collection procedures are somewhat lax compared to the DOD version (the ones our military men and women are subject to, and they're brutal by comparison). However,,,,,,,
I include welfare RDT on the list of other things that will not happen in my lifetime:
    1. Fair Tax
    2. Elections where voters have to get to the ballot pages on a voting terminal ONLY by correctly naming - by keypad entry and Not multiple choice, their two senators and their congressional representative (minor misspellings accepted).
    3. Real tort reform and "loser pays" laws in ALL civil suits at all levels.
    4. Returning stigma to personal bankruptcy instead of rewarding irresponsible decisions with bailouts.
    5. A President and Congress that is not afraid of the U.N., the European Union, the Middle East, Third World sh*tsplat dictators, race pimps, peaceniks, the ACLU, CAIR, and all the other freaks I have failed to mention.
  • Bristol
Bristol and the boy friend said what the parents wanted to hear. Maybe they believed it at the time maybe not. They are teenagers and they do not know everything contrary to what they may believe. It really is a private matter.
  • What does Boortz have in common with Olberman
Evidently, these two are "girly men" with a penchant to deal in salacious fantasies by way of attacking teenage mothers; any woman that may gain weight; or outright supposed salivation over female celebs or models. Come out of the closet boys; you just might enjoy giving each other Brazilian waxes and anything else that may come to mind while you snicker about your intelligience and the listening public's stupidity. Yea, Boortz you have revealed yourself as an Olberman Snark.
  • Anything goes
When we look at the choices for president this last go round we should look at the obvious.
Anyone who is not in a coma knows that Obama is a DINO, he is definately not a democrat.
And on the flip side We had McCain which has again made the RINO top 10. Which means he is not a republican.

So the top 2 choice were a DINO, not really sure what political affiliation Obama belongs to.
And McCain is definately a democrat.
Had McCain chose Lieberman as his running mate we would have had a democrat party against the DINO party.
But McCain chose Palin which split the ticket. Democrat for Pres and Republican for VP. And a house divided against itself cannot stand.

My opinion as to why the democrats lost the election.
The reason why the republicans lost is obvious. We did not have a candidate for president.
  • Bristol Palin
Sarah Palin must have really gotten under people's skin for liberals to BASH her and her family so long after the election. Are they feeling threatened by her Sarah? Why do they care? Are they wishing that Bristol had gotten an abortion? They should be thankful that she is one teen mother that will not need the support that they are tossing out these days so that they have more money to take care of crack whores and their babies. Those people have the right to have as many babies as they want out of wedlock and addicted to drugs and we will take care of them. Somehow liberals will support those people. Briston and her family are taking care of her own. GET OVER IT.

And as far as the hipocrits behind the curtian remark.... OBAMA AND HIS ADMISTRATION ARE PROVING THEMSELVES AS EVEN BIGGER HIPOCRITS!! Breaking one campain promise after another. And for the octomom, she is a real fraud and a nut job. The wonderful residents of California will have the joy of supporting those 14 kids FOREVER FROM THAT UNWED MOTHER. Give Bristol a chance to atone for her 1 mistake of being an unwed teenager when she had her baby. If she ends up unwed with 14 kids, then she might deserve the bashing that she is getting now.
  • Sexting Suicide
    Hello Neal,

The girl who committed suicide over the naked picture of her that her ex spread around killed herself over the comments of the other girls at the school not the comments the boys made. Females do not give a hoot about what males think of them and never have. What they are concerned with is the way they are perceived by other females. It is an evolutionary thing.

  • Loan Rates & Available Money
The opinion seems to be that interest rates should be low now and money available.
Ain't so, folks. My wife & I just tried to get a mortgage; we're both gainfully employed and could handle the payment easily, and have good credit.

The terms? About 1/3 of the amount in loan costs and 8%-10% interest rate!! When does this "simulus" kick in? Banks aren't loaning money unless you're really willing to pay through the nose for fees and interest rate.
They should give each adult US citizen (no illegal immigrants!) ~$150,000 and let them spend it how they please instead of giving it to banks - now THAT would simulate the economy!!!

  • Advice for the Young
Let me start by saying that I do not condone teenage premarital sex. I UNDERSTAND IT, but I don't condone it. That being said, if you are going to make a mistake, you probably couldn't have picked a better partner to make the mistake with than the governor's daughter. The real tragedy here lies in the breakup. If I were to give this young man some advice, it would be to give it his all to try to make this work out. I mean, I'd be rubbing the bunions, changing the oil in her snowmobile, field dressing the caribou and all that Alaskan chivalry stuff. There's nothing wrong with marrying someone with money.

Oh well, maybe when the porno comes out he can get half the royalties.
  • I could not care less...
the goings on of the Palin children. I have to shake my head though and ask why she felt compelled to make an official announcement on the break up through her mothers PAC spokeperson?
  • blowback....?
Palin's kid is no surprise. The marriage thing was fake and all for show. Kind of like Juan Mccain saying he's a conservative or even a Republican. But more importantly I'd like to see the idea of 'Blowback' discussed on Neal's show. If muslims were in America trying to build military bases and so on, or trying to redraw the boundary lines of America Im sure Americans would be outraged. Why do Americans expect middle easterners to like what America has been doing over there for quite some time? I'd like to see America stop handing tax dollas to islamic fascists to spread shari'a law. And while we're at it lets get back to traditional conservatism and get the entire state of Israel off of American welfare. We can no longer afford any of this foolish adveturism under the disguise of national security. Lets get America's borders secured and our own rule of law follwed for a change. Neal maybe one day you can have Michael Scheurer on for an interview.
  • palin
who cares whether Bristol is marrying or not. I know Democrats want to jump on anything that has to do with Sarah because they're afraid she'll kick their Messiah out of office. But Bristol is a grown up now, she makes her own decisions, and frankly it doesn't seem like she's nearly as conservative as her mother. That's allowed, you know. And anybody who quotes Ann Coulter as a reason why conservatives should now hate on Bristol is a moron. Ann Coulter is not main stream for Republicans, no matter what Democrats really really want everyone to believe.
  • huh?
Is Neal like, ya know, saying we need a sandbox?????

Not only drug test those welfarites but have regular inspections of their government housing!!!! They are living on my dime they do NOT have the right to expectation of privacy!
  • Bristol Palin
It doesn't make any difference to me that they've split up. Sarah can't control her daughter any more than any other mother can control their offspring. This is just more fodder for the MSM to use to trash the "hypocritical conservatives". You raise your children the best you know how, and then you pray that some of it took!
  • Hypocrisy
This is just more evidence of the hypocrisy of the MSM. What if this were one of Obama's kids "burdened" with a kid? The media would be hands off. But instead they attack a govenor's kid (who is not a legal adult yet) to try and either divert attention from Obama's failing policies, or to try and slam the right for whatever reason. I'm kinda surprised someone hasn't claimed this is Bush's fault yet.
  • This administration - UGH!
This is what happens when you let a bunch of pompous elitist liberals figure things out as they go. They believe people are so stupid that governing them is incredibly easy. So far, mistake after mistake after mistake... It's like watching a bunch of stoners in a pick-up baseball game - just ugly. Maybe they are all aspiring to the level of competence of Joycelin Elders or Monica Conyers.
  • Bristol
It doesn't surprise me in the least that the media in their warped mind wants to continue to destroy Sarah Palin. Should this be a headliner in the news? There are so many more newsworthy stories out there and the media decides that THIS is worth reporting? Please, how low can you get? I'd rather talk about Geitner's empty Treasury dept. than Bristol's love life. Or how we are going to pay for all of Obama's spending spree?
  • Anything Goes
If you were going really fast, like the speed of light, and you started screaming do you think your brain would blow up?
  • urine tests
    Blue eyed devil,
I agree and am against drug testing. In fact, I'd like to see all drugs legalized. Even then it still might be a good idea to make the looters provide a sample before getting their checks.

Oh, but that wouldn't be fair...
  • The reason Bristol matters:
Is because she is living proof that the social policies and beliefs Palin espoused on the campaign trail were frauds. That they do not work in real situations. That "small town family values" is a load of tripe, when the daughter of a woman who put so much stock in them was out doing the nasty out of wedlock, getting knocked up, and now not even marrying the father.

She's now one of those "single mothers" you all cheered Ann Coulter for lambasting. A teenage single mother at that. But oh, now all of a sudden it's a personal matter? You all care so much about the Octomom's personal matters, but hey, leave Bristol alone?

Typical conservative rhetoric. Do what we say, not what we do. Pay no attention to the hypocrites behind the curtain.
  • Goldberg
......you'd probably do a snake if you could get someone to hold it's head....
  • Palins
Let it die. The Palins have family issues just like everybody else and are far from the worst of families. Ya wanna make an issue of something like this? Then maybe someone should go out and dig up some dirt on a few high profile liberal congressional members. I'd bet my taxes you'd find more than one daughter with illegitimate child.
  • Teen picture galleries
Have I screened my kid's phone? Actually, yes I have. Terribly boring. Either he is smart enough to delete the juicy stuff, or there just wasn't any good stuff to see.

Which is probably a good thing. I suspect I would be subject to a porn charge myself if there really was something there.

    Keep it level.
  • Bristol and Levi
This is the news because it removes focus from what is going on in the current administration. By all means, let's pick apart a couple of 17 year olds....

Our mainstream media in its finest hour.
  • Bristol
You have an honest and good family in this situation. The Palin family tries their best to minimize the damage that occurs by using their strong family ties to circle the wagons. Instead of applauding this example of what it means to be a family- the tawdry mainstream media uses it as an opportunity to rake this family over the coals. I have to believe a special place in hell has be reserved for media types like this.
God bless you Bristol and your family. You are an example of what real love and caring are all about.
  • bristols breakup
While this is not news I guess it is of some interest and the left harpies will make the most of it.I'm sure they would have been much happier if any of the lies they spread about Palin family would have been true but they will gleefully pounce on this. Next I guess they will start a rumor that she's regestered democrat, applying for welfare as a single mother and soon be moving into section 8 housing to become a crackwhore.I don't know what caused the breakup but the thought of having the rest of your life picked apart by rabid leftest media scum sucking slime would make any boyfriend think twice about tying the knot into this family. It seems the left is still afraid of the possible Palin threat in 2012 and is already collecting mud.
  • Bristol Palin
Let's take the high road - leave children out of the discussion and stick to relevant issues.
  • Palin
Leave them alone. There is absolutly no use, or good, in such a discussion, Neal. For heaven's sake. There is so much of true importance out there without piling on to those two who had too much on their plate to begin with. Just sayin'

When mama is the governor, it’s hard for papa to take the shotgun to that deadbeat for knocking up his daughter. Honestly, things happen but the boy has a responsibility he cannot walk away from. I am sure this is not the end of the story, give it time and they will end up married and living in a mobile home or igloo until they divorce.
  • Briston Palin
I doubt the engagement was for political purposes. The fact is that the girl is pregnant from her boyfriend of many years. The families likely talked to them and pushed them towards making this decision, because it is the better arrangement for everyone involved.

I find it loathsome and execrable that some people take such delight in the misfortunes of others.

I've seen no actual information on the sex education Bristol received in school. Perhaps she was fooled by the liberals into believing she could have sex without consequences.
  • Bristol and Levi
Probably started out with the best of intentions for marriage and living happily ever after. Mama married young (shotgun I believe) and did ok. Poor Levi and Bristol just couldn't take take

  • Palin + Quote from Ben franklin
Bristol: I find it interesting that it's being reported that Sarah Palin was the one who brought Bristol Palin's pregnancy up on the campaign. As I recall it was the mainstream media that brought up the subject of Bristol.

And since this is anything goes...
    Ben Franklin Quote:
I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.
Benjamin Franklin, On the Price of Corn and Management of the Poor, November 1766
  • Bristol Palin
I would not be shocked to hear the engagement was purely for political reasons. If so it will come out sometime. What I think is appalling is the glee with which it is being discussed! People seem to be WAY too happy to report on this girls misery. Wow, she was a teenage girl who made some bad decisions. How in the world is that SO shocking?
Teenagers are NOT know for their sound, rational decision making! I have 2 teen girls and their logic baffles me! And yes, my husband and I check their pics on their cellphones, as well as texts, calls, emails, computer usage, and anything else we can think of. My job is not to be their friend, but to get them to adulthood alive. And hopefully with some common sense, personal responsibility, and a good future! • Job Market
I faced forced retirement last Friday. I
think the national media is trying to trick the dumb masses again with the outlook on the bleak job market. There are plenty of jobs out there, you just need to know where and how to look.
  • Bristol Palin and her fiance
Why should we care? I suppose the lefties will make big deal of it when it's really no business of anybody's but the families.
  • Bristol + Sexting
Bristol: Of course it was a political maneuver for the election. Frau Palin, firm supporter of abstinence-only and "small town family values", couldn't afford to be seen for the failure she is when her own daughter got knocked up out of wedlock. Once they lost, Levi no longer had any reason to continue the farce.

Sexting: Regarding the story this morning of the guy who got slapped as a registered sex offender: Important details left out were that he only sent the pictures after she broke up with him, and he sent them to over 70 people, including her parents, grandparents, and teachers. He tried everything in his power to destroy her life as thoroughly as he possibly could. Justice has been served.
  • handouts and urine tests
    I got this in an e-mail the other day and really agree with what it says. It's supposedly written by a government employee. It reads;

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job..
    I work, they pay me.
I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test
with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people
who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I
have to pass one to earn it for them?
    Please understand,
I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet I do, on
the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their
    rump- --, doing drugs, while I work . .
Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to
pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program,
    'Urine or You're Out'.
Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you all will pass it along, though.
Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!!
