So let's talk for a minute about the latest gaffes of the Obama administration. The first thing that comes to mind is Obama's treatment of UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Last week, Brown visited the White House for an official state visit. There was no grandiose press conference. There was one planned, to be sure, but it was downgraded to a press avail in the Oval Office. There was also no official state dinner. Then we have the Obama gift gaffe. Prime Minister Brown gave Obama a really remarkable gift, a pen holder carved from the timbers of an old British anti-slavery ship, and first edition of a seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill. Not bad. Not a Bentley, but not bad. So just what did our president give to Prime Minister Brown in return? Are you sitting down? Obama's gift to Brown was a box set of DVDs. Something about 25 great American movies - on a DVD format I understand doesn't work across the pond. Excuse me, but what the hell was that gift all about? That's something I would give a co-worker for Christmas ... one I didn't particularly care all that much about; and Obama makes this a state gift to the leader of our most important ally?
OK ... gifts. Big deal. I know that there are more important things to worry about right now .. like the fact that Iran is launching test missiles and keeping tract of PrezBO's teleprompter .. but this made us look like uncultured trailer trash.
We're not through though. Then there was Hillary's Clinton's gift to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. She tried to bring him a red "reset button" to symbolize an improvement in ties between the US and Russia .. but the Russian word on the button was mistranslated. It actually read "overcharge." Whoops.
But this one has to be my favorite. Hillary visited Brussels last week and spoke to EU leaders. And at the meeting, she claimed that United States democracy was older than Europe's. She said, "I have never understood multiparty democracy ... It is hard enough with two parties to come to any resolution, and I say this very respectfully, because I feel the same way about our own democracy, which has been around a lot longer than European democracy."
Athens? Greece? My God woman? Are you really this dense? Don't answer that. What would the Hildabeast do if you tried to tell her that America is not even supposed to BE a democracy? I truly don't think her intellect could handle that bulletin.
