Did you lose a job recently? Has half of your retirement income vanished. Have you had to go back to work in what were supposed to be your retirement years? If so .. then the mere sight of Barney Frank must disgust you. And then, of course, there's Chris Dodd. Well .. while you're struggling to survive, you might be interested to learn that the Congress is currently debating how college football picks its #1 team. Yeah and this is going to affect your life how?????

So Barack Obama is assembling a panel to review the tax code. Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker is in charge of the review to "rebalance the tax system" and reduce the tax gap. His panel will have until December 4th to report back with their findings. The only constraint on the tax force will be no tax increases during 2009 and 2010 .. oh and no tax increases on families earning less than $250,000 a year. Clearly, raising taxes on the evil rich making more than "their fair share" is a sure bet. That's what this government-crazy president calls "rebalancing" the tax code. Don't worry. This panel won't be addressing the Bush tax cuts, which will have to conveniently be dealt with before this panel makes it report. So after letting the tax cuts expire - which, for the government educated out there, is actually an increase in taxes - THEN the panel will decide if there needs to be more tax increases on the evil rich.

Now, I know of a tax plan that already has over $20 million in research behind it .. the work has already been done for this Obama panel. It's called the FairTax. When I asked Royal whether or not there was a chance in hell that I would be called up to testify in Congress about the FairTax, he said I had a half-way decent shot. Jamie Dupree, not so much. He said on a scale of 1-10, I had about as much a chance as I do with Angelina Jolie. That's OK. The tats are a turnoff.

But if the Obama administration is really determined to simplify our tax code and bring money back into the system, I just don't understand how the FairTax can be ignored.

THE MIDDLE-CLASS

Congressional Democrats are currently battling it out over a budget. But there seems to be one big piece of the Obama agenda that is missing from their plans: Obama's beloved middle-class tax cut. If you'll remember, much of these tax cuts aren't even tax cuts at all, more like welfare for people who don't pay taxes. But the idea was quite effective at getting Obama elected.

OMD Director Peter Orszag says, "while 98% of the budget mark-ups in the House and Senate are on par with the administration's budget blueprint, some campaign trail promises, like middle class tax cuts, may get left on the cutting room floor."

Now don't get all grouchy just yet. His middle class tax cut does appear in his economic stimulus package. Otherwise known as the government growth bill. So once the people get used to the idea of this "tax cut" there is no way that the Democrats are going to take that away.

By the way ... really do need to remind you. These people don't pay income taxes. What Obama is calling a "tax cut" is really government checks TO the taxpayer instead of checks FROM the taxpayer. Nice way to build government dependency.

California is really making headway on its plans to completely scare away anyone worth more than a food stamp. And when it comes to global warming, regulation and legislation is based on mindless pandering, rather than sound science. So here is the government's latest idea: make it illegal to sell black cars in California. Seriously. This is what passes for serious thinking on the left coast.

The idea is part of a new "cool paints" initiative which is run by the California Air Resources Board. The board wants to "mandate the phase-in of heat-reflecting paints on vehicle exteriors beginning with the '12 model year, with all colors meeting a 20% reflectivity requirement by the '16 model year."

What does that mean? The government wants to regulate fuel economy by producing lighter color cars. How does this work? Because lighter cars stay cooler on sunny days and don't use as much air conditioning. And if you are a good global warmer, you know how damaging AC units can be to the environment.

And since 17 other states generally follow California's lead when it comes to global warming regulations, this could mean that 40% of vehicles sold in this country could be impacted by the proposal.

Just in case it's too small to read, the bottom text there is California Highway Patrol.

Name: Phil Novinger
Subject: Today's "news conference
I listen to your show occasionally and sometimes find your points of view refreshing and/or amusing. Today I happened to be tuned in when you did your little "Me Obama" schtick; your version of last night's press conference. You just came off as downright stupid, even more so than former President Bush at some of his news conferences. You should just stay with sticking it to the liberals...you're much better at that.
Unfortunately,in my view, your shows lately are taking on the absurdity and over the top hysteria of Rush's and some other spear throwers of his ilk. I believe that you are more intelligent well educated than to go in the direction of a college drop out like Mr. Limbaugh.

Looks like I got on Phil's nerves pretty good.
