So President Obama is having a press conference tonight. Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25th we're going to have a little fun with this on the show. I'll answer the questions as if I were President. And you'll quickly find out why I'm unelectable! We'll do this about 11:35 ET on the Mothership, or whenever that is on your local station. These are always fun so don't miss it!

THE PLAN

Yesterday Obama released his plan to loosen up the credit markets. The Dow liked it, rallied 500 points. For those of you who really want the details, Jamie Dupree has the plan posted in its entirety.

Here's the gist .. The government in partnership with private investors will purchase bad assets from troubled financial institutions. If the value of the securities goes up, the private investors and taxpayers would share in the gains. If the values go down, the government (the taxpayers) and private investors would incur losses. The goal is to generate $500 billion in purchasing power by using $75 billion in TARP money, combined with private investment and loans from the FDIC and the Fed. And as we've already known, these toxic purchases could grow to $1 trillion.

It's wait and see time. At least Obama sees a role for the private sector. I have a fear though. What if the private sector entities who participate in this rescue end up making a lot of money? How quickly will Barney Frank et all start screaming for windfall profits? Remember, AIG has shown us that you can't trust the government to abide by a simple contract any more. Why trust the government in this?

Just a question. You do know that Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac recently. In that letter Obama wrote "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world."

The "coming four years?" Well, it seems that there's a small problem here. Jacques Chirac is not the president of France. That honor goes to Nicolas Sarkozy.

Now if, say, Sarah Palin had done this the press would be full of outrage. Hmmmm. Oh well, read this for yourself.

FANNIE AND FREDDIE TO PAY BONUSES

When Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac want to pay out at least a million dollars in bonuses .. all of the sudden, it is OK for companies to dole out retention bonuses to keep their best and brightest employees. James Lockhart, the federal regulator overseeing Fannie and Freddie says, "there's a 'great risk' of key employees walking away if they don't pay out the promised bonuses. These Fannie and Freddie employee retention programs were established because federal officials believed top executives will play a critical role in ensuring the successful turnaround of the companies."

And the same doesn't go for companies like AIG?

SPEAKING OF PITCH FORKS

The latest corporation up to the chopping block: JP Morgan Chase. The company has received $25 billion in TARP funds. But it plans to buy two luxury corporate jets worth $138 million and also build "the premier corporate aircraft hangar on the eastern seaboard" to house them. The new hangar will apparently be built with reclaimed wood, quarry tile and even include a "vegetated roof garden." The Gulfstream 650's are supposed to be the "fastest," "widest" and "most comfortable" private jet ever. Can't you feel the wealth-envy building?

A spokesman for JBMorgan Chase says that no TARP money would be used to make any payment for the new jets or hanger improvements.

But that doesn't fit well into the wealth envy argument, does it? All that matters it that these evil corporations want the luxury of having private jets!

THE LATEST ON GLOBAL WARMING

The EPA wants to make sure that it has its way with businesses and development .. all in the name of global warming. The agency has proposed to the White House that global warming is endangering the public's health and welfare. So what does that mean? Find a way to regulate it!

You might be thinking "big deal, Boortz." Well it is a big deal. And it could eventually come back to bite us. Remember what I always tell you about the law of unintended consequences? Considering global warming as a danger of public health will lead to the establishment of national limits of global warming pollution. And any business knows that this spells disaster.

Bill Kovacs, of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, explains, "By moving forward with the endangerment finding on greenhouse gases, EPA is putting in motion a set of decisions that may have far-reaching unintended consequences ... Specifically, once the finding is made, no matter how limited, some environmental groups will sue to make sure it is applied to all aspects of the Clean Air Act ... This will mean that all infrastructure projects, including those under the president's stimulus initiative, will be subject to environmental review for greenhouse gases. Since not one of the projects has been subjected to that review, it is possible that the projects under the stimulus initiative will cease. This will be devastating to the economy."

Always keep in mind that the environmental movement was essentially hijacked by communists and socialists after the fall of the Soviet Union.

So it turns out that Christopher Dodd's wife was the former director of an AIG controlled company. No wonder he included that amendment back in February to save AIG bonuses.

Senator Charles Grassley says that Obama's budget is a step toward socialism.

The Heritage Foundation gives you a detailed analysis of how Obama's idea of "stimulus" is to spread the wealth around.

Hey, what took you people so long to figure this out? From the New York Daily News: Hey President Obama, the campaign is over - forget the popularity contest.

Here are the top ten ways the government can recoup the AIG bonuses.

Now this sun-of-a-gun is a pilot. Just damn.

This is a question that we need to ask ourselves more often: How can Americans increase their own freedom? Well .. there's elections and all. But that's the old fashioned way.

Don't worry, the government will do something to alleviate the fact that more blacks and Latinos are losing their jobs in this economy.

The Governor of New York and fellow Democrats want to increase taxes on New Yorkers making over $500,000 a year. Mike Bloomberg explains how devastating this would be for the local economy.

Here in Atlanta, home of the Mothership, there is another brouhaha over the opening of a government school in partnership with U.S. Marine Corps.

The hotel industry is upset with Congress for its hypocrisy over "luxury" spending for corporate travel.

Another Democrat in Washington with tax issues? This time it could be Fortney "Pete" Stark.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is worried about the important things in life ...

Michelle Malkin has come up with a seal for The Teleprompter of the United States. Darn, why can't I be this clever? Beautiful and clever. Amazing.

Do you remember the high school "sexting" girl? Now her parents want the government to write laws to combat sexting.

Neal - I am a loyal listener to the show and read your column every day. (I am at work... on break). As a new Chase employee -recently bought that is. I am told we can't get loans closed we submitted in December 2008 - customers have to pay for extensions that are not their fault, and now after sending us emails telling us how ethical we should be, they are acting very unethically in spending this kind of money on jets when their "house" is not in order and they are not treating employees ethically. I have no wealth envy and am a HUGE Fairtax supporter (Plan on being there for your Jax April show). It's not about envy - I love planes - flown and jumped out of them myself. It's about right and wrong and doing what you say not what you do. I am happy to be employed but would like for the company I work for to be as "honest and ethical" as they say are demanding me to be. Go ahead yell at me and tell me I'm a moron and an envious Jerk if you must but, "it is what it is" is a tiring old saying people say when they have no answer. The company just came out and said in email that we are losing our 41k match, they took away plastic ware for us to eat with, no more cafe in our building. They tell us to cut costs and be good stewards of the company but they treat their customers and employees like 2nd class citizens, meanwhile they are buying jets... for who? The Ceo who should spend his own money and use the company money for things like... paying it's employess and fulfilling its promises to its borrowers.
