That is according to our President Barack Obama (PBUH).  When it comes to this stimulus legislation .. he has had enough "debate" and he has decided that the "time for talk is over."  Tell that to our children and grand children who will be paying for this legislations for generations.

Odd, isn't it?  This is the president who wanted to engage in unconditional talks with the Islamic goons who want us dead, but doesn't want to talk with the American people about this government expansion bill.

Let me tell you what's going on here - though you probably already realize it.  This president is on the verge of losing his first great legislative push.  This could set the tone for his presidency for quite a while. Passing this bill is essential to the status of his presidency, not so much to the future of our country.

Yesterday Obama actually said that if we don't pass his huge government growth and citizen dependency bill right now our country might never recover from this economic crisis.  Just wondering, but did FDR ever even suggest that World War II could mean the end of our Republic?  I don't think so.  Well ... different strokes, I guess.

What others are saying

  • Different Strokes
Did Neal really just use the phrase "different strokes" in reference to President Obama? The race police are gonna love that one. .. ~~~ Scott
  • He said he won
Our President, while in discussion with the GOP about the spendulous bill, told the GOP he could have his way because "I won". Well, NEWSFLASH!!! So did THEY!. That is why they were there representing their constituents.
  • The Time for Talk is Over
PBUH is applying intimidation tactics to dismiss debate because he is feeling internal pressure from being ill equipped for the job his ego got him into. How long will America sit back and permit our government to feed them, clothe them, doctor them, and entitle them to benefits they should EARN themselves? America is slowly being brain washed into government intervention because their too lazy to read, investigate and discover for themselves the truth. When an entity, (government in this case), provides for you and tells you what to do you are a 'slave'. How ironic that agenda is being promoted by a black man!
  • Is this article a joke?
Can you possibly ignore reality any more? "Obama just wants this to pass because it's his first legislative push"....yeah, tell that to my parents who both just got laid off because of the horribly mismanaged economy under Bush's "watch". Tax cuts don't work. Spending does. Obama is right, its time to stop playing these political games and start doing something to actually benefit the suffering middle class.
  • President Obamuppet in love with himself
Oh so it will be catastrophic for us all if the chosen one doesn't get his bill passed? He's in love with himself not our country. Barack and his Obamuppets weaken our nation. I hope his bill sleeps with the Tidy bowl man.
  • The Time For Talk Is Over
Thank you for saying what needed to be said. Your commentary added fuel to my fire, so I just finished sending an e-mail to all of my state representatives.
  • Stimulus
Like the President said Neal, "We already tried it your way"!! And look what it got us. So now let's try it his way and see what happens. I honestly don't think it could be any worse than where we are at right now after 8 years of your guy (who had six years of a go-along GOP congress as well). So what the hell?
  • Inaction is not an option??
    Hey, Barry!
Inaction is probably your best option right now. You and Congress should do nothing.
    Quit talking about the economy.
    Quit trying to fix it.
Quit using it as an excuse to give goodies to your friends.
If you politicians (and your journalists) would just go on vacation for a year or so, when you got back we'd be in much better shape.
Just leave us alone. Do nothing. Okay, pass the fair tax on your way out the door, but go. Please.
  • Mr. Obama... You are NO Abraham Lincoln!
"...inasmuch [as] most good things are produced by labour, it follows that [all] such things of right belong to those whose labour has produced them. But it has so happened in all ages of the world, that some have laboured, and others have, without labour, enjoyed a large proportion of the fruits. This is wrong, and should not continue." ~Abraham Lincoln

Source: Roy P. Basler, editor, The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln, Volume I, p. 411-412 (Fragment on tariff, December 1847).
  • New Idea in DC
Anyone got layman’s term for the new Mo Mod" plan that is now being batted around in DC. My understanding is that if I am behind on my payments and my house was worth 200K when I moved in, my mortgage balance is now 197K, but the house is only worth 150K, my loan will be reduced to 150K? The question is why not just mandate a new max. on all fixed loan rates at a reduced % for everyone’s and outlaw all creative mortgages such as adjustables?
  • stimulus cost
Just wondering, has anyone compared this "stimulus" cost with the cost of the war in Iraq (presently 600 billion according to my search). Add the war in Afghanistan plus homeland security. According to the Dems, wasn't that at one time an assanine cost, just too expensive, for protecting freedom, killing bad guys, and building a Democracy in the middle east. Is'nt that "cost" surely stimulating our economy by paying government workers, soldiers, defence contractors, private contractors, etc.... So how is it that 1 trillion spent on crap is better than 1 trillion spent on defending us agaist Muslim Extremist.
  • The Stimulus
What upsets President Obama is the Fact that the Dems Own this stimulus package and he need the Republicans on board to have a scapegoat when this thing stalls the economy
  • Really
You really think the repubs care about this spending? Have you seen any of the bills that came out during the past 8 years? The repubs are only mad cause the bill isnt giving money to causes they appreciate like finding Jesus's mom on a grilled cheese sandwich
  • fully expected...
In every gloomy cloud, there is a silver lining. In this particular cloud, the silver lining is that the MSM and the loyal lapdog PRESBO worshippers are finally starting to understand that PRESBO is what we thought he was - an unpredictable, inexperienced, unknown. He lied to the American people when he said he was going to reach across the aisle (which was obvious when he met with Republicans and, after listening to them for a few minutes, said "I won."), he lied when he said he was ready to lead (leaders don't spend time whining about how important his pork spending is . They are supposed to understand what is good for the people they lead), and he lied when he said he was going to bring change to Washington (Appointing tax cheats to cabinet positions, especially Geithner who is now in charge of our money and our taxes. Oh yeah, and appointing Clinton era cronies).
People actually believed this empty suit and, thankfully, some are starting to regret it. I guess what PRESBO doesn't get is that the average American understands when they are being taken, and this stimulus package (which won't stimulate) is full of useless pork garbage.
Now, conservatives have an important duty - refuse to play ball on this thing. FORCE the democrats to own this failure if we can't stop it. No waffling. No playing ball. No more bullsqueeze. It's very simple - in 4 years, we will have another election. Whomever runs will have a tough go unless they can show that they tried to fight for the American people but were overwhelmed by greedy dems hoping to push more pork while refusing to work with the opposition party.
If conservatives fail at this essential task, they won't have a shot.
Obama is a fake. He ran as a fake. Conservatives were shouting about it but Mr. McCain misplaced his sense of honor and duty and decided that fighting for his core beliefs wouldn't work. He was outclassed by a guy who wouldn't qualify for any sort of security clearance based on his background. I guess 700 million dollars CAN buy an election.
The question is: can Republicans muster the strength and backbone to actually prove to Americans that they can fight for them? Or will they return to their behavior during President Bush' term and act like Democrats?
Those of us who voted against PRESBO understood what he represented. Sadly, McCain was a centrist who couldn't decide if he wanted to be a centrist or a conservative. He confused his message and never managed to make his case.
Next time? Let's vote for a real conservative in the primaries so guys like Romney, who might have actually won, can at least put up a real fight.
We get the elected officials we deserve. America needs to see just how hopeless the left in this country are. Let's let them.
  • "PrompterBama"
Tell me why “our” new president has to read from a teleprompter to express his outrage that the Americans want to keep their money in their pockets and spend it the way they want to? Could it be he doesn’t believe in this stimulus bill himself an he wants to make sure he doesn’t veer off message? I have dubbed this guy PROMPTERBAMA!
  • Cigarette holder or top hat?
Since Mr. Obama is trying to carry out his promise to look out for 'hard workin'Amaericans, I wonder if he sits in front of a mirror trying to decide which style to adapt. The jut jawed, cigarette holder FDR or the top hteed deliberate demanor of Lincoln? Dude, half this stuff is as much stimulus as I am buff and ripped. You can dress up a pig but she's still a pig, right? I hope this man finds some real leadership qualities of his own, in a hurry! He seems like he wants to do good but for whom? The Unions? The constituents of only the Democrats in Congress? None of his package( poor choice of words)does anything for me. I wirte checks to the govermnet every April. I pay child support. My kids and I have healthcare. Nobody gave it to me, I earned it! If you want to help me, though, don't take my money and give it to people who expect it to be given to them because an FDR/Lincoln wannabe said he would!
  • New Rules?
Obama made a great speech in Williamsburg, I guess any future attempts to work with the Republicans have ended and it is now time to steamroll over the opposition. The question becomes will Harry Reid attempt to change the filibuster rules by using the so called nuclear option and change the procedures to allow only a simple majority to end a filibuster? I think that is that historically has been done by the Democrats before (Byrd??), although the Republicans did come close before the “Gang of 14” intervened.
  • Hoo-ray! Hoo-ray! What'd he say?
Yup, the time for talk is over - it's "Put up or shut up" time!
  • Obama spending
Funny, when the Republicans spend money like crazy, there's not even a peep.

This may be the first time in history where the Democrats actually outspend the Republicans.
  • Yackety yack. Don't talk back.
Obama to the people: shut up and take your medicine. We know what's good for you.
  • This Sounds Real Familiar
"The debate is over" is the rallying cry of the Global Warmers, and is now being picked up by the Demo-Socialists. They do not want anybody to take a close look at what the so-called Stimulus Package for fear of us learning the truth about the spending. Transparency? Accountability? Funny, I don't hear those words anymore.
  • Talk
The talk is over? OVER?!? Change we can believe in. We can only hope that this bill gets shot down. Completely. Did you see in the news this morning or maybe last night that the US Gov. OVERPAID failing banks by over 100 BILLION DOLLARS? Better get your affairs in order people, hyperinflation is next, that is, after the possible depression. Crash and burn.
  • The Time For Talk Is Over
I couldn't help but notice that Obama made a speech to Democrats at their "annual retreat at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa". Aren't these the same "leaders" of our country that got us into this "crisis"? They can take a retreat but private companies can't reward their performers without media backlash?

As far as “I found this national debt, doubled, wrapped in a big bow waiting for me as I stepped into the Oval Office” goes, maybe if he had spent more time performing his elected duties in the Senate and not running for president he would have known what was going on.

I am sick and tired of the president acting like he and everyone else in his party had nothing to do with the policy decisions that ruined our economic system and now they have to step in and "clean up the mess". We all (those of us that think about more than sports, beer and American Idol, that is) know that the only solution is lower taxes and less government.

I proudly support the Republicans who are taking a stand against DC "bipartisianship" (i.e. Republicans roll over to any Democrat idea no matter which party is in the majority).

I am also sick of bein lectured to about fairness and responsibility for others from a man that makes over 10X what I do and gives less of his income to charities than I do.
  • "Our" President
I watched his speech last night in Williamsburg at that taxpayer supported Democratic retreat. He sounded like a little kid kicking and screaming because he was not getting his way. Not very Presidential, if you ask me. He blamed everything on Bush, and though Bush does own some of this, Obama never mentioned Fannie and Freddie and the House members who kept telling everyone, just this past summer, that Fannie and Freddie were solvent and not to worry. Well the Fannie and Freddie mess got the snowball rolling down the hill taking the economy with it. I feel it's time for the President to be honest with the American people. I think if he could be honest and blame this mess on Government and Greed the Americans would get behind our "new" and very wet behind the ears, President.

Neal you say it every day! Why does Washington Democrats think that taking more money out of my pocket, for social engineering, is more stimulative then letting the American people spend it on things we need and want?
  • Talk about Fear mongering.
Bush did it with the urgency to go into Iraq and now Obama is doing it with the need to pass this massive pork plan.
I contacted my Representatives. Saxby won't reply with anything but vague restatements of what we already know about the economy and Issacson wants to throw in another tax credit for housing so he can satisfy all his Realtor pals because that is the background he comes from.
David Scott is a Dem. so he only replies back with Obama worship so emailing him has always been an exercise in futility. I also hate that he was against the FairTax and then for the FairTax and then went back against it. He is two-faced as anything but they keep voting him back into office.
I really don't think our Reps. care what we think.
Another reason to vote Libertarian and join he Party.
  • Arrogance- AGAIN!
Getting a little tired of people like him and Reid telling us what it is time for or what they will not let happen. It's not up to them!!!!
  • Talk is over, but fear mongering continues!
I swear, these liberals sound more and more like used car salesmen than honest politicians. "Today is the last day to take advantage of our sale, you'll be making a mistake", they say. Well, Al Gore with his global warming, Nancy Pelosy with her 500 million job losses, and Barrack Obama with his socio-economic justice are trying to sale us a big frigging lemon. And as a hispanic, we are used to getting those kinds of offers. My lips and my A** are puckering right about now.
  • A Comedy of Errors
Neal, this administration is like a bad rerun of "Amos & Andy"...we have the quintessential smooth talking grifter 'Kingfish' and his ever complaining wife 'Sapphire' and even her momma 'Ruby Begonia' herself...over at DoJ,we have Eric Holder co-starring as 'Algonquin J. Calhoun',the slickest shyster in Harlem and lawyer to 'Kingfish'....the hapless but well meaning 'Andy' of course is played to a T by Robert Gibbs, who believes everything 'Kingfish' tells him and dutifully repeats it....and of course the slow witted janitor at the lodge hall,'Lightin' played by the equally slow witted Joe Biden, who gladly sweeps up behind the 'Kingfish' so he can feel like he is a part of the goings on....and finally we have a nice oily financial scheme that 'Kingfish' is trying to put over and hoping nobody will catch on before the cash changes hands....this storyboard is over 50 yrs old and still hysterical
  • We Don't Want To Go There
Liberals hate honest debate. At the slightest hint of facts being injected into the debate and they "don't want to go there". The talking is over because the truth destroys their view of the world. In the case of Obama, the longer the debate the more likely more Americans will understand the true nature of this socialist bill.
In '07 I had a liberal friend railing against Bush calling him a fascist. I asked him to define "fascist" and he began whining, "Why do you always do this. This conversation is over". First of all he had no idea what a fascist is and second of all he did not care because the truth was inconvenient. If enough people see this bill for what it really is it would be most inconvenient for Obama. For goodness sake, let us not inconvenience the "chosen one".Let us not muddle his presidency with facts.

    With love from Tough Love.
  • Obama and Stimulus Package
President Obama is contradicting himself...He says he doesn't want to follow the policies from the past 6-8 years, but now wants to SPEND MORE THAN the last 6+ years and put us much further into debt. Isn't the rampant Congressional Spending fever in the past 6-8 years also responsible for our current deficit and lack of confidence in our economy? The real way Obama can stop the wrong policies of the past 6-8 years is to NOT put $900 billion of debt on our backs. Now that is REAL CHANGE!
  • They're all alike
So I guess when you have to defend a position that has no defense, you just claim that the discussion is over and everyone needs to get in line. Sounds like PBO has taken a page out of the Global Warmers playbook.
  • We had a debate process?
The "time for talk is over?"

Why not rule by fait accompli?

Just do it. You're a big boy. You're the President now.

"From the Office of God-Elected, so deal with it."

This "democratic" process must just annoy the heck out of Marx, Trotsky, and good old V.I. Lenin. Do away with it, get the people angry and behind your rebel intentions, and impose a 75 year disaster on the nation.

Dissolve the sentate and house and just rule. This process, this "debate," just gets in the way? Dispense with it like everything else being tossed in the trash nowadays.

Maybe that'll be the opportunity for some change of our own in a manner that would do Lenin proud.

But that won't happen. Our greatest vulnerability is our decency. A shame not everyone shares it.
  • obumer
you are right. he is willing to negotiate with terrorists, but unwilling to work with the people of the United States. This is because he believes he is 'king' and can do whatever he wishes.

too bad obama, because you are narcissist, and believe everyone should kiss your ring, it doesn't happen that way. At least until you destroy our country with socialism, we are still a free country and this is a democracy, it is not an obamatracity. How about putting your money where your mouth is? check the telepromter what you told those who were chugging back that kool aid. You can't even select a cabinet member that isnt a crook! guess those classes by the Chicago political machine didn't teach you how to differeniate or to distance yourself from the chaff. however I have digressed. I don't want a stimulus plan that will put money in the big guys pocket or in that of other countries (e.g., your homeland)or won't help the economy and most of this 'plan' WILL NOT. How about putting us, the people of the United States before your agenda. Oh, I forget that isn't part of it, is it?
  • H Solis
The time for talk is over and the time for Hilda Solis to pay back taxes is now. How many more cabinet nominees will we find who have evaded their taxes?
  • Obama scares me!
Did everyone read that the charges against one of the Al Qaida suspects in the USS Cole bombing were dropped because of Obama's executive order to halt all trials at GITMO?

And, he's working on a treaty to reduce US and Russia nukes? Didn't Reagan teach a valuable lesson?

    And we're just into February!
