THE GLOBAL WARMING MOVEMENT ISN'T ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

I've been telling you this for years, folks. This whole global warming scam is nothing more than a front for wealth distribution and anti-capitalist activism. Democrats have come up with a great way to do accomplish those goals .. carbon credits. Charge companies and/or people for their carbon output and then let the government use that money to redistribute as it likes.

Now, thanks to California Senator Barbara Boxer, we have a clearer picture of what that could mean very soon. Boxer released a letter detailing the basic principles that will be included into this absurd global warming legislation. Plans are for Congress to take this on soon. We are talking weeks, not months. Democrats know they need to move on this while a substantial portion of the American people still buy this man-made global warming nonsense. Some people actually think this is a crisis, and you need to remember that the Obama Administration believes that no crisis should be allowed to go to waste. So now let's all take a look at these principles for global warming legislation:

1. Reduce emissions to levels guided by science to avoid dangerous global warming. (The science, of course, will come from government-paid scientists who know that their funding depends on continued global warming alarmism.)

2. Set short and long term emissions targets that are certain and enforceable, with periodic review of the climate science and adjustments to targets and policies as necessary to meet emissions reduction targets.

3. Ensure that state and local entities continue pioneering efforts to address global warming.

4. Establish a transparent and accountable market-based system that efficiently reduces carbon emissions. (No .. establish a system that efficiently redistributes wealth and weakens capitalism.)

5. Use revenues from the carbon market to:

- Keep consumers whole as our nation transitions to clean energy;

- Invest in clean energy technologies and energy efficiency measures;

- Assist states, localities and tribes in addressing and adapting to global warming impacts;

- Assist workers, businesses and communities, including manufacturing states, in the transition to a clean energy economy;

- Support efforts to conserve wildlife and natural systems threatened by global warming; and

-Work with the international community, including faith leaders, to provide support to developing nations in responding and adapting to global warming. In addition to other benefits, these actions will help avoid the threats to international stability and national security posed by global warming.

6. Ensure a level global playing field, by providing incentives for emission reductions and effective deterrents so that countries contribute their fair share to the international effort to combat global warming.

Oh yeah ... just had to include that "fair share" phrase in there. A real favorite for Democrats. It means nothing, but the great unwashed really like it.

I hope that you noticed three particular parts of this letter. First of all, the fact that revenues from this government-created carbon market will go towards protecting species that are threatened by global warming. Why do you think the environmentalists were so insistent on declaring polar bears a threatened species due to global warming, even while their numbers are increasing? That would be because now they will have a steady source of income in which to fuel their efforts! Also, this government-created carbon market will be used to aid other countries. Here we go with the wealth redistribution - carbon revenues from companies in the United States would be collected and redistributed to "provide support" to developing nations. And if #6 on this list doesn't convince you .. then you don't know your head from a hole in the ground.

    Thanks for the honest answer...

Doesn;t your answer than no one knows what the best temperature for the Earth is concern you? What if the over standard of living for humanity in general would be greatly imprived by a 2-3degree increase in temperature..it could open up much more useable farm land in Canada or Russia..

The simple fact that no one knows what the "correct" temeperture the Earth should be, is the single most compelling arguement against massive government intervenetion to stop any possible warming!

And also thanks for your bluntness regarding "climate change". This is one thing that has bugged me for a long time - the dang climate has ALWAYS chnaged...if it ever stops chnaging, we are all probably dead!
  • Nice Article
great blog on global warming and environment protection.
  • Responses to Everybody
JamesF: In response to you first question, there isn't one. We aren't worried that the planet will be warmer, we're worried that it's getting warmer very quickly. It's the journey here that's important, not the destination.

To you second question: the planet's temperature has never remained steady for any extended period of time.

TN Guy: Your links are either irrelevant or misleading (or both). Your claims about climate models would be remarkable if they were applicable, but you've provided no evidence that that might be the case.

Alfred: I'm personally doing what any responsible person does; I walk, carpool, or take public transportation when possible. I drive the most fuel efficient car I can afford, I save energy wherever I can, and my home is run off of hydroelectric power. All of that, however, I do mostly because it makes good financial sense, not because I think it will have a significant impact on climate change. Global warming isn't going to be fixed by a few people changing their light bulbs and taking cold showers, it's going to require government cooperation an on international scale. Therefore the most important thing I do, and the most important thing for anyone to do, is to cast my vote for candidates I believe are going to work towards solving the problem.
  • Globe gone Green
    Look at President Obamuppet's "Stimulus"
bill. It's Gored with Globally Green madness. America needs a wake up call.
    Save our planet!
  • Concerned
Even if you disagree about the cause of global warming/climate change, there is another, equally important issue that is often ignored.

That issue is the global quality of our air and water. I would think that no one, G.W. deniers included, wants to drink contaminated water or breath contaminated air. Whether or not humans are immediately responsible for global warming may be worth debating, but issues of air/water pollution are not. There can be no debate about who is causing these problems, and the culprit is us.

Many of the regulations being proposed seek to limit pollution, which is good for EVERYONE.

On a personal note, I believe earth's climate is changing. I am not convinced humans are responsible, nor am I convinced that we are not contributing. I am convinced that we should be good stewards of the planet for future generations, and reduce our carbon emissions and reliance on non-renwable energy sources. I think these are goals that everyine should be able to agree on.
  • Another question for Alan
    Alan,

I have asked this question around the web repeatedly, but no global-warming believer will respond....can you?

1.) What is the correct(best) temperature for the planet Earth that we should be striving for?

A follow up question is: At what period in the planets history do we have evidence tha the earth remained steady-state at the temperature given in your answer to #1.

Thanks in advance for your answer,

    JamesF
  • Response to Alan J
If you want to explore other possible causes, please look at the following links:

    http://www.globalwarminghoax.com/e107_files/downloads/senate_minority_report_650_scientists_dissent.pdf

    http://www.longrangeweather.com/images/gtemps.gif

    http://co2sceptics.com/news.php?id=1728

Just to link a few of many.

Remember, a “Scientific” experiment implies CONTROL, observations, and repeatability in addition to the hypothesis. Until we can CONTROL the weather, any conclusion made from climate observation “data” is still just a theory because we cannot duplicate our findings from empirical data obtained from a controlled, global experiment. Computer models based on insufficient information and extrapolated into an aggregated macroscopic system often produces irrelevant or worse, unreliable results.
  • What is Alan doing about the problem?
Alan - what are you personally doing about the problem? If this problem is as critical as the enviro-nazis shout, I would expect that you are not driving a car, live in a small house, never fly and certainly don't have a big screen computer. And I am sure you never use google - as their carbon footprint is huge. If the people who voted for Obama would stop driving, that would go a long way towards reduces the US's carbon emissions.
  • Response to Alan
Alan, so this debate has become one of physics verses historical data? I am not sure that we can impact nature in such a manner as has been indicated by Global Warming theorists. However, the road toward alternative energy sources is not a bad idea from a personal economic standpoint for many Americans. I would love to live off the grid as much as possible, although I am not ready sacrifice as far as some advocates have encouraged (such as compost toilets). It makes perfect sense that affordable energy saving efforts be encouraged just from a resources standpoint, since few can argue that we only have a limited amount of fuel fossil resources, land waste space, etc. However, I do see the concept of “carbon offsets” being more a feel good profit scheme more than a solution to anyone’s problems.
  • Google "Global Warming Mars Jupiter Pluto"; its not just our SUVs kids....
  • Response to D.D
"First like Neal science itself is not a scam, the science of global warming is a scam. BIG DIFFERANCE! "

The methods used to establish the theory of AGW are the same methods used in the rest of science. If these methods are fraudulent in one field, they must necessarily be fraudulent in all fields. Thus, by baselessly accusing climate scientists of attempting to defraud the entire world, you and Neal are indeed insinuating that the scientific discipline itself is a scam.

"Alan, the reality is that this same crap was tried 30 years ago, only differance was that then we were all going to freeze to death. The was a clock that showed our doom in 1988. "

It most certainly wasn't. The mythical global warming scare of the 70's (80's?) wasn't. There wasn't a single article published in the scientific literature at the time predicting a long term and dangerous cooling trend. Probably because most scientists at the time were too worried about the global warming they knew was taking place.

"Two wuestions that have not been answered, I'm very serious:

    1) Why is it so unthinkable to assume that this might me a cycle that the earth is going through?
    2) I this problem is totally man made and has nothing to do with the sun, we must be really bad people, because the ice caps on Mars were melting too."

One of those isn't a question. In regards to the first, it's perfectly thinkable that what is happening right now might be a natural cycle. However, in order to demonstrate that it is you must first demonstrate *what* exactly sort of natural cycle it is, that this cycle–whatever it may be–is of sufficient magnitude to have produced the bulk of the modern warming, and finally you must demonstrate that the physics which show man to be the cause of the current warming to be faulty. Do that, and I'll take your natural cycle theory seriously.

As to your second "question," the ice caps on Mars aren't melting. One of them has shown some slight signs of melting. Scientists have said this possible warming is probably due to dust storms exposing Mars's dark surface, and isn't in any way related to the warming here on Earth.

Until you and your fellow denialists prove that you are willing to engage is honest scientific discussion and stop baselessly accusing scientists of fraud, I and the rest of the world to continue to not take you seriously.
  • Global Warming Legislation
Now that solar activity has decreased and we are heading toward "global cooling", maybe the democrats are thinking ahead. if they pass this legislation fast enough, they can take credit for "cooling" we experience over the next couple decades. "Thank goodness Obama had the foresight to pass this back in 2009!" they will say.
  • Wake UP people!
If you want to walk to work, recycle, breath, drink rainwater, wear fig leaves and build yourself an igloo, go for it, I commend you. If the “greens” had their way, the government would force that existence on me and my family because of a problem that no one has any control over anyway.

Most green proponents, actors and almost all the politicians can ride around in limo’s, live in huge mansions, use more energy then the rest of us could possibly imagine (Al Gore for one) because “THEY” help lower the global greenhouse footprint enough that they can have a clean conscious, knowing how much help they gave the planet. The hypocrisy is just overwhelming. Even the “Robber Barons” would have been locked up in the 19th century if they proposed such a ludicrous scheme.

If you exist, you alter the environment.

Global Warming / Man Made Climate Change, is the perfect fraud. Convince everyone that the world is about to end because they exist. Then convince everyone to hand over all there money and blindly support every LAW to keep it from happening. In return, they get to feel good about themselves AND save the planet (even though it did not need saving in the first place).

Wake up people before it’s too late!
  • BOXER'S PLAN LOOKS GOOD ... TO AN IDIOT
To an idiot, Boxer's plan looks pretty good. It looks like our economic problems don't even phase Democrats and their big spending plans to push their agendas. This is insane! It's their "agendas" that got us into this sh*t to start with.
  • Offsetting carbon offsets
I regularly engage in a practice of offsetting "carbon offsets." For those who are wondering what a "carbon offset" is; simply put, it is a phony attempt by the self-proclaimed "environmentalists" to act as though they are practicing what they preach, all the while refusing to alter their life style. For instance, they might pay someone to plant 50 trees to clear their conscience for continuing to live and pollute as they always have. It is the old "do what I say, not what I do."

So, I offset their offsets by purposely burning trash and other waste. I live in a location where this is easy for me to do. Every time I burn, I think of how mad those so-called "environmentalists" would be if they could only see what I was doing. HAHAHA
  • Fossil Fuels....really??

  • "warming"
The US is rapidly headed to becoming carbon neutral, but not as we become more enlightened and learn to conserve and use alternative energies. We will become carbon neutral as we become stuck in neutral. We have regulated and taxed ourselves into a corner. We can't manufactor, we can't use our existing natural resourses, we can't compete globaly. It is only a matter of time before all the money runs out. Then we will be in neutral, but by golly we will not be polluting. Our kids will be begging for foriegn aid from who knows who, probably a polluter.
  • this one brought out the lunatics
Neal , what’s with the GW lunatics posting on your site today? Is this the dailykos spam of the day?

Listen guys... its very simple... if you are convinced that global warming is real and caused by you... START AT HOME! stop living in a house, move to a straw hut or a save, stop eating meat, cows pass gas you know. Sstop driving a car or taking public transit unless it’s an electric rail that is powered by solar or wind energy, don’t use fire for heat, make your own clothes and most importantly STOP USING THE INTERNET! Every time you use the internet you could trip a Google ad that produces all those horrible tons of carbon!

What’s that? You don’t want to?

    Then I rest my case.
  • Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste .... (Rahm Emanuel)
People will always be willing to give away personal liberty and rights if there is a common enemy that threatens us. Even while the observable science of climatic variances suggest overwhelmingly, (according to US Army studies), to be cyclical and only mildly effected by humans, governments are attempting to garner power over its citizenry by making this the common enemy; one that will cause us to all join together in a harmonious effort to mutually defeat this "crisis"

Being an American, but having lived in Latin America, and now in Europe, we find it interesting that this global warming "crisis" is being proffered by those who were formerly of the Socialist and Communist ideals. But instead of attempting to make "capitalism" the enemy, they make Global Warming the enemy, at the expense of the Capitalistic ideal. The so-called "new Green markets" or "green economies" sound like something new and innovative, almost "capitalistic", but will be government funded and controlled; thus completing the Socialistic objectives.
  • Polar Bears
Neil, everyone knows that making the polar bear an endangered species has saved the declining bear population; already the polar bear population in Canada alone has increased 25 percent from 12,000 to 15,000 during the past decade (Heartland Institute report) not bad for just being on the list for the last few years.
  • "Science has developed ways to deal effectively with nasty combustion byproducts--carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), incomplete combustion byproducts (soot/particulates, VOCs, unburned hydrocarbons) pretty easily."

Take a look at what volcanoes spew into the atmosphere each and every year. You will find most of these compounds and gases on the list. Volcanoes account for most of the noxious materials that get into our atmosphere. Who is Barbara going to collect the carbon taxes from?
  • Global Warming Legislation - HA!
    Alan,

First like Neal science itself is not a scam, the science of global warming is a scam. BIG DIFFERANCE!

ALAN says: For those of us living in reality, this is really fantastic news

Alan, the reality is that this same crap was tried 30 years ago, only differance was that then we were all going to freeze to death. The was a clock that showed our doom in 1988. Two wuestions that have not been answered, I'm very serious:

    1) Why is it so unthinkable to assume that this might me a cycle that the earth is going through?
    2) I this problem is totally man made and has nothing to do with the sun, we must be really bad people, because the ice caps on Mars were melting too.

The sceintific community is even at odds on this. Al Gore is so concerned he is leaving a foot print you could lose Godzilla in. Until you and others want to sit down and discuss this and not just try to shove it down peoples throats, I personally will believe that it is pure political BS and will fight you every step on they way.
  • Liberal Logic
Premise #1: The earth has experienced both warming and cooling trends throughout history.
Premise #2: We are currently experiencing a warming trend. (According to some).
Premise #3: Over the past 100 years, people have burned more fossil fuel than ever before.
Conclusion: The burning of fossil fuels is the one and only reason for the current warming trend.

    Where is the fallacy?
  • "A Way Of Life"
Anyone ever watch the "Planet Green" (Yes, they have their own TV channel)? I ran across it while playing with my new satellite remote and there was show where some fanatic greenie was lecturing a Frat house about not recycling their trash after a beer bust, the faces on the frat boys told all! I wish I still had by t-shirt from the early 1970's with the enviromental peace sign.
  • CO2 and other emissions
Science has developed ways to deal effectively with nasty combustion byproducts--carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), incomplete combustion byproducts (soot/particulates, VOCs, unburned hydrocarbons) pretty easily.

I wonder if they have hit on CO2, a byproduct of complete, perfect combustion, as something that will be difficult if not impossible for technology to eliminate, pushing all of us back to some kind of primeval existence as a final solution.

If you take the global warming crowd at their word, it's difficult to determine just what they want--and what they want us to do. And then they wonder why skepticism abounds...and that's before we've even gone back to the science.
  • Carbon Market
I love that term "carbon market". Is that like the parking ticket market, or the income tax market?
  • Global Warming Legislation
You may indeed have been telling us that science is a scam for years, Neal, but this new piece of legislation does nothing to support your claims. For those of us living in reality, this is really fantastic news. At long last we seem to have an administration that is actually going to try and get something done about this problem.
  • Carbon credits
I know an easy way to limit CO2 -- tell the global warmers to stop breathing.
  • Hooray! Hooray! What'd he say?
As a carbon-based life form, I think it's absolutely wonderful that my great big fat government nanny has found a way to tax me for breathing.

May they all hold their breath ...
