  • Shanty Boat Heaven
This is only one of the Moron Brothers clips, look on Youtube for the rest,
If you've ever walked down a dusty dirt road barefooted or went fishing on a shanty boat this is the way of life that America (some of it) has forgotten.
If you can watch this clip and NOT want to go with them..... well I feel sorry for you because you've never lived.
    Thanks for sending this.
  • I Cant stand this world
Theres always someone that has to ruin someone elses time in this world..Why...Leave people alone Tensd to your on knitten..You stupid people..Whats wrong with building a boat and livin..I hate this world..and the people in it..Good Job guys..Dont worry about little panzees who always have to run their little sissy ass mouths..
  • Good Ole Boy's
This is great!! Couple Good Ole Boy's having fun! Nothing wrong with that. They worked thier years, to deserve it!! Leave the guys alone!! Start worrying about what your Government is doing, instead of beating down a couple of guys for having fun!! Get a life...they did!!
  • I like what you fellers' are doing!
I keep this in my files just so I can go and watch it over and over again! I am a guitar picker who has had spinal surgery, and lost a lot in the area of professional music. I voe guitar and banjo music just likt the kind you are playing. Where can I get a CD?
  • Good Old Boys
These two look like they have the life many people would be jealous of. They are doing what they love, living their dream and just enjoying their life. May we all spend our lives as content as they are.
  • House boat
I got home sick watching that video,Im a Hillbilly at birth. Moved to Ohio at ten. I think they have a wonderful thing going on there in Kentucky. Just think if the whole world could just relax and enjoy life the way them boys do, we would have a loving , caring, peaceful place to live. God bless them.
  • the good ol boys
Their funny, musically talented and down home. Their happy. What more can a person want from this life?
  • Red Neck Houseboat
Great Video....great guys....great "Houseboat". I build floating cabins, homes, islands, etc...I sure hope those fishing buddies don't get inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard cause I don't think their shanty would be marine certified! God Bless you "Southern Gentlemen"!
  • Shanty Boat.
I really enjoyed the vedio and reminds me of growing up on the river and dale hollow and lake cumberland. Thanks guys for the trip down memory lane and I liked the boat.
  • trolls
i wrote an earlier comment back in april, but i`ve one more thing to say to trolls;grow up and get your own life, and stop trying to feed off of others. better yet go get a real job
  • Shantyboat
Best video have seen in years, reminds me of earlier days spent on the Des Moines River in Iowa. It relates to a lot of people. I think there is a river in almost everyones life. Really Great Thanks for the memories.
  • No cookin for me
I'd hang out with them, but I believe I'd bring my own food.
  • Real "Amuricans"
These guys are great. Since the one post down below says they are entertainers i wonder how much is real and how much is for entertainment. Guess it don't matter much anyhow...
  • E. coli
If that "out house" is dumping raw sewage in the Ky River, those old boys have violated commen sense. I hope they cook their "catch" real well. Real well!
  • kentucy river
the people whom make fun of the simple life are secretly envious of the freedom very few people enjoy by working and staying at the same job until retirement, and not jumping around and ending up with no funds for old age.i stayed at a government job, while alot of the guys said they wanted to go and find a real job. well they`re still working with no end in sight and i retired at 55. people are jealous of others situation and will try to find some way to make you feel inferior,or unworthy. old burly has more sense than the hecklers, because the heckers are messing up by the numbers and know it in their heart, but will never admit what`s apparent
  • RedNeck River boat Fun
I have been in Atlanta for over 23 years but am a native of KY and hace skied and swam in the KY River growing up in Winchester. We were 9 miles from Boonesboro and the palisades of the KY River. If you have never taken a boat tour of the KY River from Boonesboro to Frankfort and enjoyed the view then you have missed a great tour. See what Daniel Boone saw. Take the time to tour the river
  • rivershack
Wonderful contentment - What the blue states don't understand.
  • cool!!
I thought that this was going to be a make fun of redneck clip... instead it was about life and what the rest of the world has forgotten ...fun! And to all the ones making comment about politics go fishing and take a deep breath and relax we survived every president from washington on we will survive all the rest! As a former coastie I would like to see a fire extinguisher and a life ring~
  • music
I would love to know where I can get one of their CD's - do you know where I can purchase one of their cd's?
  • Darn, I wish I was there also.
This is wonderful, Old America. People who appreciate the simple things in life and have great values.
  • River Rats
I love these guys. They would be a trip to be around. Layed-back, can't find that much anymore!! More power to them.
  • Wishin' I was there
I hope to be able to kick back some day and enjoy live's simple pleasures like these ole boys portray.
  • house boat
This is one of the best clips I've seen in a long time, just wasn't long enough...takes you back to a peaceful tiome, especially the people who love to river fish, thanks.
  • "Morons"
To "EjIMBo" & all the rest of the people who left ignorant, racist, pathetically stupid comments here: I'm sure you're glad you don't know me, but I'm MUCH more glad I will NEVER know YOU!!! I feel sorry for you, but only a little. Your ignorance will be your own undoing. God help you. You need it.
  • that looks nice
  • Houseboat
What a peaceful way to spend time. I loved the guy's comment that "if we'd had bulogna we'd a won the civil war". Heck yeah!
  • houseboat
that is what living is all about. You boys enjoy i wish i was there.
  • yep
don't get any better than that...

  • Great new B & B. Or should it be B & C? For you slow folks thats Bunk and Catfish.
  • that song??
What is the songs name that starts around 3:55 in the clip above? Nice catchy ring to it.
  • Dream home
    Exactly. Fantastic, banjos and all.
  • How refreshing
Sure brings back some wonderful memories having spent time in the Gulf of mexico in the stilt houses and then again when I lived in Texas, spending some quality time in a buddie's crappie house on Lake Possom Kingdom, about as close to heaven as you can get here on earth.
  • redneck houseboat
I,d hang out with those guys.loved the video, made me homesick for the river.
  • Me Too! Me Too!
What precious memories this provides of the time I spent in Kentucky as a child. We weren't on the river...but I loved it no less. This looks like a "retirement" way of life for sure!
  • Houseboat
Hey Max... I moved to Oregon via California from Powell County Kentucky... you got it pal! Made me homesick also!
  • Wonderful
I cannot believe that somebody would say get a life.Thats the problem nobody enjoys the simple small stuff, enjoy life !
  • I want one!
I want a houseboat like that! It has everything I'd need. Including the fish. Can I have one, can I, huh, huh? Make me one pleeze! What a life...
  • Anonymous you need a life!
    Great video clip!
  • Yuck!
Reading all these comments.... absolutely pathetic... not "American Way"..Redneck way! UGH! I can hear the twang in your writing.
  • Kentucky houseboat
Born and raised on the Cumblerland River in Burkesville, KY...Clip made me home sick as I now live in Oregon by the Rogue River.
  • Had one just like it!!
I wonder what part of KY River they are on? I am between Locks 9 & 10 and have never seen this boat, but my dad used to have one that was built in the 30's. It was docked at Happy Hour Boat Dock above lock 10. And it has to have been inspected with it's KY #'s, and have life preservers etc. to be allowed on the river without the Game Warden hauling them off to the poky!
  • Houseboat
    The true American Spirit!
  • RiverBoat
Wow....that's trippy. I kind of envy those guys. The simple life seems pretty appealing right about now with the multitude of taxes we pay and everything costing so much. Take me to the river!!!
  • sweet life
I received this link in an email -the person sending it was making fun of southerners and I almost deleted it but I am glad I watched it. They seem like nice guys and made a sweet life enjoying nature! Thanks
  • redneck houseboat
Maybe if more of us lived this simple we wouldn't need a 800 billion dollar stimulus!
  • Houseboat Heaven
I can remember in the late 50's & Early 60's the Home Made House Boats on Hiwassee Lake. Seemed As if everybody had a homemade Houseboat with Stove, Fridge & Bedding. One of the best weekends I ever remember was getting to spend the day fishing with my Boy Scoutmaster & my patrol on just a shanty houseboat. That all can to end as government regulations outlawed the use of 55 gallon drums for floatation! You knew, didn't you...It was Government Regulations that ended the Fun! Glad these guys are having Fun, but there's some regulation somewhere outlawing this practice!
  • Bluegrass Heaven
Loved watching that video. That's the America worth preserving. Fight for it!
ps - I'm English, live in Wales and co-organise a Bluegrass Festival over here in the UK. We love you people. Don't be told otherwise.
  • boat
now that what every white man needs to relax looks like they have it figured out.my kind of people doing what i love to do that is fish and be left alone. wonder what the durn old game warden thinks about this rig??????
  • Shack Boat
These guys know more liberty than almost all other Americans.
  • Lardo
"Lardo" is my wife's cousin - one of the most intelligent men you will ever meet. He is a retired firefighter and he and "Burley" are professional entertainers known as the "Moron Brothers". They play events and festivals around the country and have several albums out. Great guys!
  • house boatin on the kentucy river
i grew up in the city, but when i was about four or five my brother and i lived on my aunt and uncles farm for the summer. ever since that time i`ve always dreamed of living in the country and waking up to birds singing instead of car horns. a house boat would seem to be the best way to enjoy total freedom. if you had an income you could just hunt and or fish all the time right outside your door. that`s what i`d call the LIFE of a poet
  • These guys are great!
I've seen these guys play in person, and met them. Super Banjo Picker, Super Guitar Player! It's great to see them again, and to see them doing something that makes them HAPPY! Hope to see them again sometime!
  • Fun? Yes, Political? nah.
Great video. Two clever men found a unique and pleasant way to while away the days. Fishing on the river, plucking out bluegrass tunes and trading wit; what a way to spend the day.
I'm not sure why some folks see a political message in all this. To me, a liberal, it just looks like good fun. My granddad, a conservative, would have agreed. I don't see the houseboat so much as an effort to get government off their back as to put their keisters on the river. Seems like a good choice. Hope my golden years are as well spent. Happy fishing, boys.
  • Housing down the river
Makes me homesick for the good ol' days. I'm from NC, grew up cropping lugs on a North Carolina tobacco farm. Used to go shad fishing on a river at night just drifting with a net with my dad and a neighbor. Can't do that today with al gores bullshit. Might pollute the river from spitting in it. Today it would be much more fun to go alligator hunting using a democrat as bait.
And, Craig, you can take your comments and shove them where the sun don't shine. You're just jealous.
  • river boat
i can't believe the governmernt hasn't regulated & tax the hell of of this guy yet. too bad the rest of this overtaxed, overregulated, over intergrated (not americans) country can't return to its roots.
  • river
that is life boy i wish i could live like that
  • NOW this is the way to live. Not a care in the world.
  • Ky. Houseboat
After reading the comments on your website, I can't really say what I want to tell the wannabe blue bloods that left their negative comments, I do know what I would do if they were in my presence. I would introduce them to the "GATORS" here in the swamps of South Carolina.
The Beverly Hillbillies were fictious, you feller's are the real thing. God Bless you and I'm there with you in Spirit.
    SC Po-Boy
  • rn houseboat
    outstanding!!!
  • WOW
how in the world did he do that? Thaat is the most weirdest thing I have ever saw.
  • Looks Like The Way To Spend A Day
Awesome clip. Wish I was there!!!
  • tim farmer = bit of a fool
"That's what i love about river fishin', you never know, kinda like fishin'in the ocean, you never know". How many other kinds of fishing are there? Those rednecks were great musicians though!
  • May God Bless You,,

  • Regarding houseboat life comment
FYI: To the moron who is a know it all about these Ky boys.... The guy in the camo in the video works for the Kentucky Fish and Wild Life and Enforcement.... go visit this link http://fw.ky.gov/default.aspx and go to the Kentucky Afield link and see for your self. You should check things out before you go running your crap eater
  • That was great!!!
  • Good for you!!
Way to go, B. Brothers! Love the simplicity and carefree lifestyle. Boo to all your critics.
  • I've spent a lot of time on the water..
...and it doesn't get better than that. From a big chartered sailboat in the Caribbean to camping on an island on the intracoastal on the Texas coast, there's just something about being on the water. Combine that with banjo and guitar pickin' (I play both and those guys are pretty tight), fresh-caught fish and carefree days and you have yourself a recipe for pure pleasure.
  • craig
Dang Chris, who pissed on your cornflakes?
  • redneck houseboat
    Bluegrass on a green river
floating on my own porch swing.
lines in the water, dinners in the
    oven
    Honey c'mon over,hell, I was the
    dishes
  • Sounds good!
God I'd take their life over my fast-paced BS anyday.
  • Redneck House Boat
Viewing the video brings to mind the era of living on such craft on the lower White River in Arkansas. There are still remnants of this bygone era from St. Charles to the confluence with the Arkansas. Most of the houseboats that are left are just used on weekends and during duck season. As late as the 60's, there were "School boats" that motored up and down the White to take the children who lived on the river to and from school each day.
  • houseboat "Morons?
Anyone who can cobble up a craft like this from what they had to work with ("Ya'll get thet pile o roof tin from wher the barn blowed down last year adn we'll build summin wif it"). Cannot be morons...what passes for a blank stupid stare is actually a coverup for a mind that already has your bacon stolen in a battle of wits. I wonder if these Boys have a mash tun and a copper boiler on the boat too? Looks like a great place to "retar".
  • Regarding houseboat life comment
    Hey, Craig S.,
It sounds like YOU are the one with a hateful heart... not these fellas.
Your comments are despicable and disrespectable.
  • Regarding Water QUALITY Comment....
    Craig, Review the video again.
They "Poop" in a bucket, Dummy..not the River! If the boat had a hole in it, don't you think it would sink?
I believe these folks respect the water they fish in... now that's "quaint."
  • Pure Pleasure! What a Life!
A trip to remember on a "unique" houseboat.. including GREAT entertainment! This should be aired on The Travel Channel!
  • Gimme' this life...
    Just rollin' down the river..
A piece of America to hold on to.
The folks ARE true and genuine.
GREAT banjo and guitar. It's a shame the video was labeled "Moron Boys;" however, it is a KEEPER...just like that catfish.
  • water QUALITY
taking a big dump right in the water you fish from..
    how quaint.
  • weather
they must not have much bad weather in Kentucky, one Texas spring thunderstorm would blow that to splinters and scatter it for 3 counties. Still in all, cant knock anyone who knows how to enjoy life. I'm skeptical they actually live in it, more like something they just go cruising around in or spend a weekend on. Looks just like one of the swamp homes in Louisiana, but those are mounted on poles in 1 place.
  • Houseboat Living
I am sooooo jealous. Sign me up!
  • the comment from the CANADIAN below
I hail from Scotland, was over in S. Carolina and loved it but now I'M IN THE HELLHOLE OF ALBERTA and yessum , sorry but it sucks the big one , your country is getting ripped to pieces literally; up her in Fort McMurray is likes a Luna Landscape.Canadians pay attention ; just like the Brits I just left, lights on but nobody home.
  • Love it!
Being one of very, very few right wingers in Washington state, I can appreciate this.. Someone help me! I'm surrounded!
  • Life on the river
Those fellars look like the type they could be counted on if you were in need. What a great life. I was kinda raised that way my self. My folks didnt have any money to go to disney world and the such. I thank God I say yes sir, no sir and they taught me some manners and that simple things in life are most important. Thank you Lord
  • Thanks for the smile and laugh boys!
  • Redneck HouseBoat
These guys are great!!! Have they recorded? Where in California can I get their sounds. Neal more of the same.
  • Bluegrass
Now, this is what it is all about. They found two pleasures they really enjoy and go with the flow--Bluegrass music and fishing. Only need Jack Hicks on the banjo! Yee-Haw!
  • Memories
I grew up in the Ozarks, spent a lot of time in the hills and on the rivers. Few rivers in the Ozarks would take a "houseboat" very far but I could build one like it on the bank of a river back in the National Forrest and live like they did 150 years ago.

    Reminds me of home.

    An Ozark hillbilly.
  • redneck houseboat
I think they have got life by the horns. No taxes, no gov't interference. What a concept!!
  • sounds like heaven
  • Redneck houseboat
I think that is great! they seem like good folks just layin back and takin life easy
  • LOVE IT!
What a sweet life. Talk about letting the everyday stress melt away.
  • House Boat
    Sweet, pickin' N grinin'
Life doesn't get much better than that.
We have a lot of house boats down here on the Louisiana bayous. :~)
  • That's what's up
Boy, I tell you if I had a damn bit a clue how to build and sustain my self like that, I wouldn't look backwards for the world. wcm05@fsu.edu if you want to teach me.
  • HOUSE BOAT
    LOOKS LIKE AN EASY LIFE.
  • Sweet
Looks like they have it all together, what a sweet life!!
  • reporting abuse
we are the ones that let them get away with this, look at what hippie 1960s has given us, I am 71 to day and played by the rules now I am in big trouble, the dems know we are the dumb one.
  • Redneck Houseboat
Neal, I left Orlando, FL two years ago and moved near you to Dahlonega, GA with absolutly no regrets. Every Saturday in from march to september they have a Bluegrass Jam on the steps of the Old Courthouse/Gold Museum in the town square. The people here are true and genuine, if that means "redneck" then by all means bring it on.
  • Amen
This is how i spend my vacation. I only wish i could do it all the time.
  • Very Nice
"If we'd a had bologna during the Civil War, we'd a won!"

That's the way to save during a recession. Almost reminds me of Walden Pond, Southern style (and it's working).
  • House boat.
These 'em the good ole boys we need to be sending to Washton DC. These folks have common sense
  • 15 MINUTES OF FAME MIGHT HAVE BLOWN IT FOR THEM
These guys are true blue, funny as hell good boys, but I fear that this report will endanger their lifestyle of simple freedom. I might be wrong, but I didn't see any floatation devices or inspection stickers on that "shanty boat". There could be a problem with the toilet disposal with the whacked out environmentalist and the EPA. Don't forget government in general worrying that there are no property taxes being collected here so somehow a new "river squatting tax" or law if you will must be enacted to either charge a pant full of money to do this or just outright bar anyone from living this way. And PETA is really going to be pissed off at the "baby rabbit" being used as bait comment. Sorry to pee on the bluegrass parade.
  • Blue Grass
Those guys were surprisingly good on banjo and guitar. Looked like a good time.
  • Redneck.......
    ...is a beautiful thang!!.....

Ive been a redneck all my life..

Oh, I think I love Belinda!!....
  • Well, when the SHTF, boys like these will be living like this and doing very well. Every now and then they'll ask one another "Wonder how dem city folks are gittin long?".
  • Kentucky boys
Not so much different than here in Alabamastan.
Kinda like Huck finn ain't it?
  • enjoyment
God Bless Them, wish I was there.
  • Southern House Boat
I got a case of moon pies and two
cases of Doctor Pepper. I'm ready to
    sign up
  • Thanks
Thanks for that Neal... 7 minutes of my life that I'll never get back! >:)
  • Reminds me of home...
That may be in Kentucky, but we do have boats like this on the Flint river in south Georgia. 130 miles below Atlanta.
  • The North
let's just watch these northern liberals try to survive like this in the wake of Wall
Street, Madoff, and Obama - who's poor now? And where can pick up their record?
  • Life in a Red State
Wouldn't trade it for anything. My fellow Kentuckians made me proud. Pick it boys!
  • The South
Now, I moved to the South, Alabama actually... years ago & had all of the standard redneck, hillbilly preconceptions. Well, they are true for some people, haha! Still, most rednecks are like these two guys... just laid-back, funny, & ingenious. I always think that they are like the early pioneers who explored & expanded America. Hey, if you're envious, move on over here!
  • Happy Times
I wish I were there with these guys. Grew up in south GA. I miss simpler ways and the slower pace. What happened to this country? Maybe the state of the economy will force people to get back to basic fun things and put down their cell phones for a while!
  • Retirement
Now that's retirement...Southern or any style!
  • Now That's What I call
    Gettin ur Done!!
  • Cumberland River
I grew up near here, my first boat on the river was a car top powered by a push pole. We kids caught the same fish, using the same bait and type of lamps out on the river at night. I miss those care free days.
  • Slowing life down a bit
Thanks Neal, I am a bit envious of watching my fellow Americans chilling out while watching the world go by with out a care to what's going on in government. What a life!
  • Redneck Houseboat
Southern ingenuity at its best! I aspire to that level of retirement. Nothing but lazy days on the river with the grandkids and a fishing pole, reading Mark Twain and Teddy Roosevelt
  • where are they?
    Are these guys in GA?
  • Uh oh, they took initiative and did something.
How long before an agent of the Gubmint has the thing scrapped because they lack proper permits and proof of inspection, etc? Remember when this was a free country?
  • Yee Haw
"Paddle faster boys - I hear BANJOS!"
  • House boat
Thanks for the video. Ear to ear grin for at least half a day. What a great way to live. Good ol' boy humor at its best.
  • houseboat
Started watching expecting to be sniggering at the yokels. About 2 min in I was wondering if there's room for a 3rd bunk.
  • Freedom
I don't know why people make fun of "rednecks". These guys really exemplify the kind of freedom and liberty that can only be found in a place like the USA (well, at least until B. Hussein Nobama gets done with it). I have a friend who lives in England. He makes fun of the US and it's culture all the time. He seems to actaully have contempt for it. I tell you, I'd rather live like those guys on that houseboat do than how ANYBODY lives on that spoiled and overregulated socialist rock overseas any day. BTW, in case anyone reading this is thinking "there goes another American blowing about how great the country is", know first that I'm Canadian!
  • Houseboat
    There is a heaven!
  • Houseboat
    Totally.Fricken.Awesome.
  • Houseboat
    Looks like fun to me.
  • Houseboat
Ain't no stress or pressure here. Where can I sign up for a week or two?
  • I'd drink a beer with these boys..
"We had sum gubment cheese..." LOL
  • Houseboat
Sure wish Georgia would let you live that way!!
  • Wow am i envious
That looks like a life of pure enjoyment. I can't argue with any of it.
  • Nothing like this in Russia...
One more reason why this is the greatest nation on God's green earth.
  • Houseboat
I'm reserving it for a week, no, wait, a month!
  • yee-haw!
this makes me proud to be southern. I'd take a ride with these guys anyday.
    yeah c'mon!
