Before you get too bent out of shape and continue sending me the emails .. just know that I am aware of the proposed Constitutional amendment to repeal the 22nd Amendment. For those of you who went to government schools, this is the amendment calling for the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. The repeal was proposed by Democrat Representative from New York Jose Serrano on January 6th.

Look, folks ... we have so many other issues to discuss. Are you really concerned that the Congress is going to amend the Constitution to make Barack Obama president for as long as the people want? No. Not to mention the fact that Jose Serrano did not propose this amendment specifically to keep Barack Obama in the White House. He has proposed this amendment in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007. And guess what? It hasn't passed before, and I highly doubt that it is going to pass now.

Obama has eight years .. at the most.

What others are saying

  • What's Happening
I hold no illusions that this government would do anything, anything, to get what they want. Repeal the 22nd would happen without us even knowing it. Has anyone paid any attention to what they are doing with the NEA. The underhanded and secretive conference calls the White House has been involved in. Transparency - has anyone asked Mr. "O" his definition for the word?
  • Obama - False Prophet
I believe that Obama may be the "False Prophet" mentioned in the book of Revelations.
  • Repealing the 22nd Amendment
It matters very little in the grander scheme of things that it has been brought up so often. What matters is that it is being contemplated at all. Not because of Nobama, but what about Arnold "I'll be back" S? And because Nobama was NOT born in America he shouldn't be President in the first place.
  • Anti-Christ
He is the Anti-Christ... He needs the extra term to finish off Armegedon. I'm not kidding... At all.
    THIS IS DUMB
  • obama
by the time america realizes what they've got in office it will be too late.......it's too late already
  • will of the people, or...?
I have to wonder... are the endless re-elections really so much a matter of the "will of the people"... or the LACK of the will of the people? "What... me? Try to pick a new guy? Nah... we don't do THAT sort of thing around here! We've had this guy in office for the last 80 years... why change now?"
  • People who are scared of this happening...
...don't realize what a herculean task it is to amend the Constitution.
  • Conflicted
always been conflicted on this one: The will of the people is a good thing, yeah, but anything to make re-elections less common, forcing people to actually look at the issues instead of just thinking "I'm okay with the guy we have, I guess", is also a good thing.

I suppose if it came down to it, I'd have to support the "will of the people" part more than the "what I personally think is good for the country", part
  • term limits
    "...He has proposed this amendment in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007...?"
uh..I propose we limit THIS crack head's terms. Why does NY always send it's rejects to congress?
  • why not? seriously, the founders did not see fit to limit the chief executive to any number of terms. Just limited their power while in office.

My belief is if there are no term limits on the judiciary branch or the legislative branch, why is there a limit on the executive?
  • 1 In the beginning Obama created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Obama moved upon the face of the waters.

3 ¶ And Obama said, Let there be light: 2 Cor. 4.6 and there was light.
  • not gonna happen
They may be all stocked up on crazy, but the left would be flat out dumb to call a constitutional convention. While the media would do what they can to hide it, this would crack the door for a repeal of the 16th as well as adding term limits for house and senate.
  • "So this is how liberty dies - with thunderous applause." - Senator Padme Amidala
  • 22nd Amendment...
First, while it's true that it didn't pass before, there's also never been such a fawning over anyone elected president before this. The repealing of this amandment may still not pass, but don't you think it has a better shot at happening now more than ever before?

Also, as for someone lasting more than three terms, it happens all the time. Senator Kennedy, for example. When politicians get that entrenched, they are in for life. B. Hussein Nobama is making history, after all. Here in Canada, Trudeau screwed this country up for fifteen years. Trudeau was OUR Obama. Google "Trudeaumania" and soak it all up.

To coin a phrase, "Yes He Can".
  • No Castros here, thank you.
I suspect that anyone trying to become president for life would rather quickly run into the good old American 30-06 term limit.
  • repealibng the 22nd amendment
Contrary to popular belief, look for it to be included in some obscure bill and passed without even a whimper from the emasculated Republicans still in office.
  • 22nd Amendment
and no term limits for congress I see. Yeah, there is a process for each state to impose their own, but do you really think that's going to happen???
  • 22 amendment
Consider how Chavez got to his current position. Congress in his pocket and every year pushing a repeal on term limits.
The dominoes are in place for the "One".
Is there a will in the US to remain a Republic.
  • more than Congress
Remember folks, it takes a lot more than just Congress to amend the Constitution. 3/4 of the Congress must vote "yea," then it goes to the states. 3/4 of the states must agree to ratify the amendment as well (which means a 3/4 vote in each state legislature).
  • 22nd amendment
I've always wondered why it's no more than two terms. I would support repealing it if it was no more than two consecutive terms. I.e., Bill Clinton would be eligible again. Could he do it? Doubtfully....
  • ...
I don't know... Now some people can play the "race card" if they vote to keep the 22nd Amendment in effect.

If it does get repealed, does anyone really think someone is going to last more than 3 terms? I seriously doubt it
