REDEFINING A TAX CUT

Barack Obama wants a stimulus plan and he wants it quick. Part of his stimulus plan, as we are now learning, may include $300 billion worth of tax cuts. And the next question is .. tax cut for who? During the campaign Obama promised a tax cut to 95% of working families. This brought up the question of how you deliver tax cuts to people who don't pay income taxes .. and that includes about half of the 95% of Americans Obama was schmoozing. Now Obamabots are trying to get around this little factual inconvenience by reminding you that these people pay Social Security taxes and Medicare taxes. But wait a minute! I thought that money that goes to Social Security wasn't a tax, it's a contribution! What does it say on your paycheck? FICA? That's "Federal Insurance Contribution Act." This is really an insurance premium, not a tax, so what's really happening here is that Obama wants to give those more likely to vote for him a free ride for their Social Security. That turns Social Security into a pure welfare program. Ditto for Medicare.

So .. .when Obama says "tax cut," he really means "welfare check." A government handout. Your money seized from you and given to someone who didn't earn it ... or your children and grandchildren hit with a debt they'll have to repay later.

This is the new definition of a tax cut. And we have Barack Obama to thank for it, not to mention a compliant media ... a media that refuses to expose this government-speak.

Now with this stimulus package, we don't have many specifics yet. We know that it will include a tax credit/welfare check of $500 per individual or $1,000 per family (whether or not you actually pay taxes), which would "eliminate taxes for about 10 million low-income workers and offer relief to those who pay no taxes at all," this according to The Politico. Do you see how they slip that in there .. "offering relief." That is just a fancy way of saying "redistributing the wealth." The package will also include tax breaks for businesses, a one-year tax credit for new hires and a write-off for new investments.

The GOP has responded "warily" to Obama's plan. GOP leadership is starting to say the things that John McCain should have said during the campaign - being skeptical of Obama's new definition of "tax cut." Finally. But too late. Now the GOP doesn't have the power to do squat. Somehow we need to get back to some clear definitions of tax cuts vs. government handout checks.

Simply put, you can't give tax cuts to people who don't pay income taxes. Government checks to people who don't pay income taxes are simply welfare checks.

Before we move on, I thought you might enjoy this. Read this article from The Politico. It explains how the GOP isn't dancing up and down the aisles about Obama's phony tax cuts. After you've read the article come back to read the very first reader's comment. This is your typical Obama voter. Read this comment and experience the wealth envy, the playing of the race card, corporate hatred .. pretty much what you would expect. This person goes by the initials PJN:

The GOP doesn't want a tax cut???????!!!!! WHY? Because it's not for rich, white folk! Because it's reversing the transfer of wealth (AND POWER) that's been the GOP sham for the past forty years- concentrate wealth and power in an increasingly smaller cicle at the top. How do we pay for Obama's tax relief? Tax the living S--- out of the 10% of this country that has 90% of the wealth. Fuld, Madoff, and the rest of the Wall Street criminals at AIG; Bear Stears; Goldman Sachs; Freddie 'n' Fannie; Citi, and on and on...should have every penny they own stripped from them - domestic and overseas- they should be cast out on the street, homeless, to be spat upon and driven to suicide. Hey, every recovery, you gotta break a few eggs, right?

The age of Obama. Gotta love it.

What others are saying

  • Stimulus vs. Tax Credit
A welfare check like the $600 "stimulus" that George Bush implemented last year? "Tax credit" and "stimulus" all come from the same pot of money, and I'm sure that there were plenty of people who paid no taxes who received the $600 stimulus check (which incidentally is more than the $500 that Obama is proposing).
  • Tax what
I am a single parent mom with two children and I pay my taxes , I take care of my own two kids and work and go to school. I don't mind helping the poor but if this tax cut is giving monies to people (and it's only $500.00) who choose not to work ..well I think that is plain , well ridiculous. Nobama all the way. I look forward to his last day in off 01-20-13
  • Stimulus check
Cool. More money for lottery tickets, booze and cigs. America very good to me.
  • GWB started this years ago
C'mon Boortz, don't tell me you've never heard of Bush's "Earned Income Tax Credit"
  • Life in prison for Fraud?
Maybe Congress could change the law so to require a mandatory life sentence for each count of fraud (securities, bank, etc).
  • I guess I misunderstood the tax cut...
The way I understood it from what little research I've done on this tax cut is that my income tax withholdings would be reduced by removing parts of the payroll taxes. The idea being that if everyone got a raise from the government we would be more likely to spend it than save it or use it to pay down debt, unlike the $600 stimulus check. From what I heard it sounded good, I must have missed something, this sounds a lot like what Neal was suggesting with the suspension of the income tax for 2 months, the difference here is that it would be reducing income taxes over several months and not eliminating them.

But I must have been overly optimistic about it wanting it to be good news.

Still you got to admit its better than the government spending the money directly.

However Neal is right when he says that no matter what they do all they are doing is passing the burden onto the next generation. If its tax cuts or increased spending the money has to come from someplace and apparently we are taking it from our kids and grandkids.
  • Stimulus?
PJN is such a racists! I wonder if he kisses his mom with that mouth?
That guy has not a clue! Guess he will get his check eh!
  • Stimulate This
My ol' Daddy used to say that if the govt. took all the money from the responsible tax paying citizens and gave it to the irresponsible, that the responsible would have it back in a few months. Minus what would go to the dope producing countries.
  • tax cuts/credits
Still trying to figure out why anyone would want to give anyone who doesn't pay taxes a tax cut? If you don't pay taxes, why get something in return?
  • Big G
That was the point brother; it wasn't suppose to make sense.

I agree with Fred though: all the bums should go.
  • Reps and Dems
You're right Fred. Both parties are playing good cop, bad cop with our money. Neal made me aware of the 10th amendment when I read one of his books(I've read them all). As I've written somewhere else, it amazes me that with all the intelligent people out there, not one has picked up on the fact that if the charletans in government are as corrupt as they are, maybe they just have too much power. The power they have usurped came by ignoring and breaking the 10th amendment...Dems and Reps are two sides of the same coin. From here on in I'm voting my beliefs. Libertarian. I'm a neo-Libertarian, the ones that can actually win an election. No matter who is in power(Reps or Dems) ever notice that the only "change" that happens is more government we pay for, and the prime directive is re-election. The politicians make me sick.....
  • Taxes/Social security
If we're 'refunding' people's 'contributions' to Social Security - then wouldn't those people, in essence, not be contributing to social security? Then those people shouldn't be able to collect social security, right? I mean -where's the logic (oh, wait...don't answer that...)?
  • "Tax Cut"? Really?
Calling Obama's plan a "tax cut" for those that don't pay income taxes is as fraudulent as claiming you can give renters some mortgage relief by paying their electricity bill.

Americans, on the whole, appear to far too stupid to grasp this simple distinction - hence PE Obama.
  • Dems
Stan, where ya been? The dems have been in charge the last 2 years....which coincides with the economic downturn
  • That's Funny!
Yeah - I applied for a couple jobs, and after getting to talk to a human, about the second or third question, is do I speak Spanish... Not - do you speak any other languages, asked specifically for Spanish. Urdu is another one.

    NO. Why should I?

Now other languages spoken choices are on online applications as well.
  • A suggestion:
Instead of "Obama voter" or "Obama supporter" can we start using the phrase "Obama follower" instead? Just calling it like it is - they don't think for themselves (or he wouldn't have gotten elected), and they see him as a religious figure (I've been seeing WAY more Hope stickers than Jesus fish).
  • Neal makes little children cry....
Well, not really... but sometimes his support of the GOP makes *me* cry.

But it's sad how many anti-Obama, GOP supporters (why has Neal abandoned the LP in every recent election?) fail to recognize how socialistic the GOP has been with our money.

Even McCain's plan "gave back" to those who paid no taxes, why do people ignore this? Do you not remember his plea about giving tax cuts to EVERYBODY and not just those earning less than $250k?

Guys, the GOP is just as bad, we need to work harder to give them ALL the boot.
  • JamesK....?
    Whatcha smokin' brah?

    spinning.....
  • Whatever this is
This HAS to be better than republicans raising taxes and spending money the past 8 years like they have been though.

    I NEED MONEY!!!(not really though)
  • Question for Bonehead PJN
When the "crooks" are "cast out on the street, homeless to be spat upon..." will we then consider those who did not commit suicide "poor" and worthy of our aide?

Sorry, just noticed how his logic seems to be spinning in circles.
  • stimulus
I don't need a stimulus plan, I need a job. Got laid off from Bank of America. Some of the jobs I find now for management requires me to also speak spanish. I thing border enforcement will free some jobs as a stimulus
