PEBO'S PLAN IS SO TRANSPARENT

Are you starting to see what is happening here? Yesterday Obama gave a big speech about his economic stimulus plan .. he is calling it an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. Well there's a nice focus group title. "Reinvestment," by the way, means "spending." We could call this the "American Government Growth and Spending Plan." Anyways ... so we have this speech yesterday and the clouds are starting to break. I am starting to see the light .. and it ain't pretty. This economic recovery plan is nothing but a camouflaged way of enacting the promised spending programs of Obama's candidacy.

Someone 'splain something to me: How on God's green Earth is investment in education supposed to stimulate the economy? Even if you wait a generation for that education to pay off .. these people will have been educated in government schools. So that doesn't seem too promising. But part of Obama's stimulus speech was that he wants to "equip tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and public universities with 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries." He also wants new computers and new training for teachers. And just how does THAT stimulate our economy? Answer: It doesn't. It stimulates teachers and their unions. Stimulation you pay for under the guise of economic stimulation.

Another one of Obama's plans to stimulate the economy is to double the production of alternative energy. He wants to improve energy efficiency. He wants you to go out there and build solar panels and wind turbines. Oh and by the way, Obama says that these will be jobs "that pay well and can't be outsourced." That's a pretty ballsy thing to promise. How can he guarantee that? He can't .. unless he uses the force of government to do so. Goodbye whatever is left of the free market. Again, this is Obama deciding where your money should be spent, not you. If you want to spend money improving energy efficiency they you can do so. This is nothing less than Obama using economic scare tactics to enact green campaign promises.

Then there's healthcare. Again, can someone please explain to me how switching all of America's medical records to computers is going to provide an immediate stimulus to our economy? Anyone? I didn't think so. It isn't going to. But this was one of Obama's great promises on the campaign trail. Which allows me to reinforce my point .. PEBO is going to capitalize on America's economic crisis in order to enact his agenda. Pretty clever, huh? Anything that Obama proposes will, from here on out, be part of his efforts to "stimulate the economy."

Do you now see how much this man loves government? PEBO said, "At this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe." That's right. Only government. Not your personal self reliance or perseverance. Not your commitment to your community. Not your employer's paycheck or benefits. Not more money in your pocket. No more economic activity from the private sector. Only government.

  • PEBO Stimulus Plan
    I just hope more people see the light of this tactic! The minute I looked at some of the proposals it was evident that Obama was using our economy issues to enact his and the democrat's agenda under the guise of "help". We don't need any more of this kind of help, please. Unfortunately, greed and power are alive and thriving in Washington- no matter which political party is driving the train. Wake up people!! An editorial column in the paper this morning said that Mrs. Obama has the power to become the "mother of us all". There's a simply horrendous thought. We don't need government to become both father and mother to us! I was raised to be an independent, free thinking, responsible adult so that I would no longer need to rely on my parents for my existence. I don't want to move back home...
  • Art of listening
    Those who voted for BHO did not listen to what he said, rather they picked and chose the words that tickeled their ears. All noted dicators and scoundrels
    always follow the same doctrine, repeat the lie often and convincely enough and the morons of society will fall in line.
    It's for the children, it's for the poor, it's for whatever and sad to say those people who didn't listen will expound this simple lie when the noose is placed around their own neck.
  • Switching All Healthcare Records to Computer
    I read PEBO has promised to accomplish this in 5 years. It's obvious that he has NEVER been involved with hospitals, physician offices, and clinic if he thinks that is even a miniscule possibility. Most organizations use different systems and even different EHR (electronic health record) systems that do not communicate with one another. Now, many hospitals DO keep records on computers, but those computers don't talk to each other outside of the hospital system.

    My authority? I've worked as a medical documentation specialist for more than 30 years, am a certified medical transcriptionist, and currently am a quality assurance mentor for newly hired employees at my MTSO (medical transcription service organization) which does NOT outsource its work overseas.

    FIVE YEARS? Absurd and impossible, not to mention unaffordable by most smaller clinics and physician offices.

    Thanks, Neal, for being one of the voices of Truth.
  • PEBO's Plan
    Neal is so right on this one... it's as clear as the nose on your face... Have people forgotten the Democrats were the main holders of both the House and the Senate, for the last eight years... Bush carried a heavy load from almost the day he went into office... If you ask me, all of Congress needs to be cleaned out! There should be a set term for them to stay in office and life time pay for them a thing of the past... We as Americans have sit back and let this happen... I'm with Herman Cain on taking our government back and doing it now... Obama is fooling a lot of people with his so called plan, that's going to put us in a bigger mess.. Jobs need to be brought back to America... look at all the companies who left America, it's a shame!... With all the talk of gloom and doom, no wonder we can't get things rolling...America got lost when we quit caring! When we were too busy in our own lives to take the time to see what was going on with the crooks in office... It's time to care again, bring back the America that people long for, the houses with big front porches for neighbors visits, sidewalks and tree lined streets that were safe for our kids to play... Caring about each other, the Amish have it right, you help out each other... We don't even grow our own food any more, most of it is imported... no wonder there are no jobs here... Clothes, shoes, furniture, toys, etc... all imported...When we are very capable of doing it our self... Until we get back to being self reliant in all areas (food, gas, etc) we do have to worry... I am done for now..

    There are LOTS of problems with a voucher system. First of all, how do you determine who gets how much? If it's just a per child amount (as I've heard it discussed), it amounts to nothing more then income redistribution. If someone has more than the average amount of kids and makes/owns less than the average, they will make out pretty good.

    If the vouchers are too small, people will complain about them being useless. They will want enough voucher money to pay most or all of their tuition. Polticians will serve it up.

    There is also the same problem with healthcare. Giving people a chunk of cash to spend will distort market forces. Let's say that the average person would get $7k per kid, then you can rest assured that schools that charged $4k would quickly raise their tuition to $7k. Why not? The parent doesn't care.

    This is coming from a guy who struggles to put two kids through private school. I'm not rich, or even that well off. I chose to sacrifice. It wasn't a decision I arrived at easily, and each person should make those decision based on their own specific options. Introducing vouchers would be good for school choice, but I think that you would see the eventual rise of higher priced schools that performed better than the lower tier voucher priced schools.

    My experience with private school is that it has as much to do with the type of parents who are willing to sacrifice to put their kids in a top environment as with the teachers or the curriculum. Problem kids get kicked out, but there are very few that end up there, since most come from homes with parents who see school as free babysitting. The teachers don't have to spend hours of their day dealing with these distractions. I think you would lose that with a voucher system. There would be tons of new private schools that would pop up for no reason other than to suck the federal/state teat.... just like public schools now. Call me elitist if you like, but the biggest problem with most public schools is the kids/parents that just don't care.
  • You're rigt
    You're right. We should continue with more of what Bush has been doing.
  • Keynes
    Boortz is really trying to pretend like he doesn't understand how government spending will stimulate the economy? Really? Has Boortz never heard of Keynesian Economics? Please.

    Clearly, Boortz's attempt to castigate Obama for following Keynesian policies completely leaves out a discussion of the actual intellectual, theoretical basis for those policies. Don't just tell us PEBO is wrong, tell us why! (Of course, Boortz can't because his post doesn't make any sense unless it's considered a blatant propaganda piece against PEBO for consumption by rubes that have a very shallow understanding of fiscal policy options - ie. most of you commenting on this thread).

    So fine, Boortz can spew his intellectually dishonest strawmen arguments all he wants. Luckily for all of you the adults are in charge now and will do what it takes to fix this economy.

    One last thing... It's not the government deciding how to spend your money, when it isn't your money in the first place, because the money they are spending doesn't really exist.

    And that's actually the point. Consumers cannot "stimulate" the economy because they are out of cash. They don't have any to spend. Without govt. borrowing, the economy will continue to slow to the point where our existing debt will be much harder to pay off.

    Oh, and our fractional reserve debt based fiat currency kind requires that we keep borrowing and borrowing to maintain our financial system. Once you understand that it's a bit liberating really....

    Sad truth is that there is an obvious majority of people, excepting those added by ACORN, that believe that the Dems have this stuff figured out.

    Media doesn't care, obviosuly, or they are too afraid that the 1st amendment will be second on the attack list behind the 2nd amendment. That, and they are apparently afraid that if they do not pander to the meatheads voting for these idiots, they will lose advertising.

    ---By Economics 101

    Okay... so if school vouchers are considered a government handout then what do you call PUBLIC SCHOOLS?? Not much difference. I think that vouchers would give the taxpayers a much bigger return on their investment.

    BTW..This whole plan is nothing more than PEBO's ingenious attempt to make the taxpayers bring the Ultimate Pay for Play to fruition. Obama owes a lot of favors to the people who elected him and we get to pick up the tab. Score one for the Unions and the Envirowhackos.

  • Boortz Asked
    Boortz asked: "He also wants new computers and new training for teachers. And just how does THAT stimulate our economy?" The real question is who's economy is being stimulated by such spending, since we don't seem to make anything here in the USA anymore. The answer: CHINA's economy!!! But do worry, we can just borrow the money back later.
  • PxBO and Government Skoolz
    "PEBO" is the acronym for "President Elect Brickbrack Orama."

    The nice thing about this moniker is that it can be used past January 20th, by merely replacing the E with a hyphen.

    ~~~
    As for blowing reams of cash on terminal government schools, what rubbish! The elementary school I attended in the late 80's had a single Apple II GS that got wheeled around on a little metal cart to classrooms on a revolving schedule. (This was back when floppy disks were quite literally that.) And guess what? The kids who paid attention learned their addition and subtraction facts, and the retards still didn't have a clue.
    Technology doesn't educate.
  • PEBO's Stimulas Plan
    If there is such a thing as an average voter, than I believe the average voter is getting fed up with this deficit spending. My thought is that people will vote their pocketbooks and if a trillion dollar stimulas plan is passed and does not improve the economy, which I don't think it will, that the 2010 elections will be where the average voter is going to express her/his dissatisfaction. Remember that even though President Bush's approval rating is only 27% or so, the approval rating for Congress is less than 20% and I don't see that improving in the next two years.
  • Stimulus
    The problem is, the imperial federal government will have to tax, borrow or print many, many times the amount of money needed for the purchase of the actual computer due to all the bureaucratic waste along the way. We are then left with a giant deficit and an obsolete computer but at least the salesman gets paid and keeps his job. Oh Joy!
  • Green Jobs
    So what happens to the tax dollars politicians’ seize from power companies when we convert from mining based energy to solar and wind? They will go nuts and try to devise ways to tax the electricity individuals produce for themselves. I'm actually all for solar and wind. I keep up with solar and know we now have the technology to produce electricity at comparable rates to that of the local power company. I see solar as a means to cutting off from the grid and not needing the govt. oversight.
    But for them, think about how many jobs will be lost from coal and gas. Its more than people realize as I am originally from the hills of WV. What will happen when they all hit unemployment because we don't need their coal for electricity (Obama wants to bankrupt) and the enviro-weenies won't let them turn coal to diesel? How will the politicians handle it? How will they make up the tax dollars lost from the workers and the electric company?
    They never think these things through and let the market decide. How long till we finally bankrupt the Federal Govt? When it happens, can we either return all power back to state and local like our founding fathers wanted it? Or, can we just split it up, (NE, Left Coast, and the rest) and see who comes out on top?
    Newt has it right; we can either be Silicon Valley, or Detroit. We elected Detroit.
    ..Is anyone really surprised at any of this? If you're a Ron Paul voter you've seen this coming since the GOP actually broke laws to fight against the only actual Republican who was running for the GOP nomination (yep....Dr.Paul) Our only hope against this is the constitution...and getting in line with Thomas Jefferson and constitutional compliance. If the GOP come out in 2012 talking about continuing the Patriot Act, FISA, Nation building, and continuing its failed foreign policy adeventurism....we can simply expect America to become more communist and more democrat wins. Embrace traditionalist Ron Paul constitutional conservatism, and we might have a chance to save America.
  • Thomas Jefferson Quotes for Our Day
    You'd think this guy was a fortune teller. Keep in mind that these were written @ 300 years ago. Funny how history repeats itself and what is happening now is what our forefathers fought so hard against. I particularly like #4
    When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.
    The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
    It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
    I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
    My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
    No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
    The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
    The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes, the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
    I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, those banks and the corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
    For all those who fear a theocracy, it is mind-boggling that those same people would worship at the altar of the state.
    Then again, The Messiah (tm) is due to receive His sceptre and crown in a handful of days, so it's not surprising that the statists are bowing and scraping before His presence, eager to do the bidding of the new King of America.
  • You all complain, but what's your great idea?
    With the Fed already having lowered interest rates to 0.0-0.5%, there's not much more you can do with monetary policy. Fiscal stimulus is the other option . . . perhaps a major tax cut . . . but the effects of changing the tax brackets, introducing new or bigger credits and exemptions, etc. would take the better part of an annual tax cycle to have any effect. Sure, you could pass out checks again to make the stimulus more immediate, but nervous consumers are not in a spending mood right now and will probably put most of the money in the bank or pay down debt, neither of which accomplishes much from a macroeconomic perspective.
    I don't know, maybe the government should take a "Christian Scientist" approach to the economy and let this sick patient heal itself.
  • You know, somebody has to make, transport, and install equipment
    On This Site: People who conveniently forget all the economic activity involved in renovation and upgrade as soon as it's for a cause they don't like, such as schooling.
    Putting money towards renovating the technological capacities of schools and hospitals doesn't just disappear into government coffers. Private-sector employees and businesses have to manufacture the equipment, private-sector truckers have to move the equipment around, private-sector contractors have to install the new equipment and train people how to use it, etc. The money does end up in private sector hands, but this fact conveniently slips the minds of all the ultra-right-wingers who rage every time public schools are brought up.
    Moving medical records to computers requires the manufacture, transport, installation, and training of personnel for new computer systems, along with data entry personnel to actively move the records. All of those are direct and immediate stimulus to the economy. Jobs are created as hospitals now need a records administrator (probably a database admin) to make sure their record storage goes smoothly and is kept up-to-date in the new computer systems.
    You people need to stop huffing the hate gas and actually look more than skin-deep at what goes on in these kinds of operations.
    Also, about school vouchers mentioned earlier? What happened to free market? If people can pay for private schools, they do so. If not, they don't deserve government handouts any more than any of the other people you say don't. It's pretty humorous how so many people are all for welfare the instant it starts promoting their views.
    95% of working families gonna each get a grand. 55% of working families pay taxes and 50% pay more than a grand, the arithmetic doesn't work.
    Manufacturing (of solar panels, etc.) can't be outsourced/offshored? Say WHAT?!
    New computers for everybody! Yay! These computers might be assembled in this country, from parts manufactured elsewhere.
  • Obama
    I am so tired of hearing that the Republicans are to blame for the current economy. BOTH parties has been screwing us for years. Most of them do not care about you or I, just themselves and, how they can get more money and power. Obama is no different than Bush, Democrats are not different that Republicans, they all just have different agenda's. And both agenda's screw the American people. Wake the hell up people!!
  • Medical Records
    Even if paperless medical records created jobs and somehow stimulated the economy, my doctor and hospital are already paperless so this won't do squat for our area. It seems our free market beat him to that one.
    Money to a Government is like heroin to an addict. It can never get enough.
  • School spending
    "He also wants new computers and new training for teachers. And just how does THAT stimulate our economy?"
    It puts money into pockets of companies that provide the services. Perhpas you are argeing that this is false economy as all of us will pay taxes to cover the costs, the government takes it's cut, and some trickles down to the service providers.
    I have personally witnessed high tech equipment for schools shoved in a corner to gather dust because no teacher has the skills to use it and could care less about learning it.
  • ER analogy
    If the body (the economy) is lying on the gurney in the ER, and the "stimulus" paddles are all that will save it, Obama's ideas are not like giving the patient an aspirin. It's more like he's in the patient's room, rifling through his pockets, running up long distance phone charges on his hospital phone, and using the patient's credit cards to send presents to all his friends.
  • healthcare - stimulating the economy
    Neal, in response to: Again, can someone please explain to me how switching all of America's medical records to computers is going to provide an immediate stimulus to our economy? Anyone?
    well,
    I work for a major computer company, and I sell computers to hospitals. If a hospital moves to electronic med records, they needs computers and lots of storage to retain that data. This could cost a few hundred thousand to several million dollars. If a hospital buys that from me, then I get to (first, keep my job) get paid, maybe even a commission. If I get that commission, I have three choices- I could buy stock while it is low and a bargain price (my little part to stimulate Wall Street), or I could put it in a savings account (giving the banks more capital to loan to other people), or i could go buy something.... a car, down payment on a house, new furniture etc...
    The point I'm making is this... if the government is going to throw money at the situation, they're going to find a way to get something out of it that they see as progressing their cause (no matter who is in power) but that doesn't necessarily mean that because their pet cause is involved that their whole suggested solution is without merit.
    As one taxpayer whose success this year is tied to how much hospitals are incented to improve the reliability and portability of their records, I'm thrilled to see PEBO making this a part of his stimulus plan, because it will certainly stimulate my household without it being a handout.
  • IT ALL COMES BACK TO EDUCATION
    To be a true hero, Obama should have said that the first thing we are going to do is institute a voucher program on education nation wide because you people are so stupid. You don't realize that you have voted the Democrats in total control despite the fact this is the same party that got us into this financial mess through it's over zealous benevolent governance. The government's commitment to keep you dumbed down and throw you a bone every once in a while just to get your vote is coming to an end. It's gone too far when you can't put 2 and 2 together so now you must be educated properly before our "republic" completely falls apart. I have talked with Rep. Linder and his people about the FairTax and plans are underway to have a vote on HR 25. And by the way ... man made global warming is a farce. I will announce more directives to correct this BS in the coming weeks.
  • spending on education
    Come on Neal. How does spending on education stimulate the economy? How about new needed school buildings? Renovation and additions to run down, outdated, and overcrowded schools? How about purchasing new computer software and hardware, books, furniture, supplies, etc.? When anyone brings up taxing luxury items you point out all the ancillary jobs that are created by the manufacture of luxury items. But when it's an idea you don't agree with, the same logic doesn't apply.
  • Obama Wealth Redistribution 4 Year Plan
    "From each according to his ability...to each according to his need."
  • Only Government
    The scary thing is even when this doesn't have the desired effect Democrats will not see it as a refutation of their ideas. They'll just think government didn't do enough and spend even more of our money.
  • Image and FDR
    It's all about image and being the modern day FDR savior/hero... think about it: what a great opportunity to smuggle in your Marxist/Socialist agenda, and look like a hero doing it. That's why its "wolf in sheep's clothing" not "wolf in wolfs clothing"...
