Barack Obama will be delivering a little economic speech today. Let's see if he says anything that indicates his belief that the free market should play any role in economic recovery ... or if it's all a government game.

  • Re: Almost got it right...
Bravo! It's a shame the only party that ran on a lower tax and smaller government abandoned their platform...
  • Almost got it right...
PEBO almost got it right - if we do nothing, the U.S. will likely collapse beyond all hope of recovery. Unfortunately, if they do what he wants, this will only accelerate the collapse. You can't spend your way out of the problem of too much govt. spending. What would help is massive, immediate REAL tax cuts (not transfer payments called "tax cuts"), esp. the maximum income tax rates, cap gains tax rate, business taxes, etc. Also DRASTIC cuts in existing government spending (like over 50%). Nothing short of this will help. PEBO's plan is the opposite of this. Too bad about your country - I'll be watching from overseas.
  • PEBO TALKS ABOUT THE ECONOMY
Who is old enough to remember Carter's "sweater speech"?
  • Only government...
"Only government can break the cycle that is crippling our economy, where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs, which leads to even less spending, where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit."

    -from Obama's speech today
  • Forget the Fairtax
Since The Federal Reserve System is the reason that the economy is in such a crisis to begin with and the fact that the amount of debt we owe "The Fed" is equal to the amount of money that is taken in by income and payroll taxes, I say abolish The Federal Reserve and put the power of printing money back into the hands of the people. This will abolish the interest that we pay them to print out money and thus eliminate the need for income and payroll taxes all together!! END THE FED
  • Children Safety and Imporvement Act 2008
This Act has just been passed. This means that people cannot buy used clothing, toys, furniture for children nor can people who make things for children will be allowed to sale their products. The economy is bad and now people who have a business are going to go out of business. People who buy used items because they can't afford to buy new stuff. This is not right and is taking away our rights to buy what we want to. Thank you Democratic Congresss who are trying to help us and taking money away from the little man.
  • GOVERNMENT WILL MAKE THINGS WORSE
Here we go. Be ready to listen to President-Elect Obama tell us about the many, many ways government will make our life's better. Of course, this will take a while because George Bush has dug us a deep hole. He's had lots of help because this irresponsibility on behave of our stupid lawmakers which flurished under Carter 32 years ago seems to have finally brought us to the point where government should see it can't be everyone's mother. More than not the government will continue this down-spiral of taxing and over-regulating until unemployment reaches double figures and a revolution is necessary. I can't think of a time where we need the FairTax now ... more than ever. I fully expect that government will continue to be convinced that they are the answer to our dreams and they can solve all our problems. You'd figure by now government would see pretty much they screw up everything they do for the simple reason they over-do every thing they screw up. Once politicians get over this power thing, maybe they'll get it right one day.
  • Take a page from Warren G. Harding's playbook
Ever heard of the economic downturn that happened during the Harding administration? Harding did nothing. Zilch. Zippo. Except he tighten some federal purse strings. Within a year the economy was hopping going into the roaring twentites. Forget FDR, he was a knucklehead. Let's look to WGH.

  • advance comments
"It is true that we cannot depend on government alone to create jobs or long-term growth, but at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe," Obama is expected to say.

  • Don't hold your breath...
The guy is posturing to "create" millions of jobs and become not only the modern FDR, but the BLACK FDR... he literally sees himself as the Savior of America... www.brentriggs.com

Let's see if he says anything that indicates his belief that gravity should play a role in skydiving ... or if it's all a parachute game.
