Are you one of the millions of Americans who has their thongs in a wad over which religious leaders will have a role in the inauguration ceremonies? When Barack Obama chose Rick Warren to give the invocation on the big day, many liberals threw a fit. Well now the shoe is on the other foot .. Obama has asked Bishop Gene Robinson to deliver the invocation at a kickoff event for the inauguration. Gene Robinson is openly gay. The selection of Robinson is supposed to "heal the anger" over Obama's decision to give Rick Warren such a high profile spot in the ceremonies.

Wait until you hear the outrage over this one. Obama appoints an anti-capitalist socialist to be his global warming czar .. big yawns. But let a gay pastor deliver an invocation ... oh my!

Can I just say one thing .. get over it.

What others are saying

  • Reread your Constitution
And respect our freedom of speech, our right to say the gay is his own victim of unnatural or abnormal sexual development - much like my neighbor's horny dog at a party.

They shove this down our throat, the homosexual mafia is allocates scenes in most movies, now they are 50% of future inaugurations.

This fad will have its place in history along with gladiators, cannibalism, genital mutilation, blood lettings, slavery, dust bowls, prohibition, inbreeding, fascism, communism, beastiality, pologamy, polyamory.

Show some respect for traditional families such as mine and some of your ancestors. Don’t be offended if I want to remove “A King and A King” from the nationally televised ceremony. We do not need to appease the abnormal 2.1% of our population.
  • Gay bishop
Just another act in the upcoming circus!
  • Religion
What would we do in this world if it wasn't for religion? Possibly there would be less wars and arguments ... maybe, I don't know. Does God exist to be worshiped, keep us honest or to give us somewhere to go when we die?
  • Robinson? Who Cares.
I don't give a hoot about who speaks... it should be his choice. He should make a choice and stick to it.. His party, his speakers.

As for the speakers... are either of them intruding on YOUR rights?

Geeze...so many mental-Neanderthals out there. Grow up, put on the big boy pants and realize that there is a great big world out there that just might be a little different from yours.
  • Exactly, Get Over It - Get Under The Nominations Instead
You know, maybe we should let God judge what's acceptable in his church and not spend our time whining about who's giving a speech. I'm a Christian and frankly, I adore gay people, as I believe Jesus would have wanted me to.

What you should be concerned about are the corrupt and unfit nominations Barry O. is making to his cabinet. Gotta love the Treasury nominee Timothy Geithner who didn't pay Social Security and Medicare taxes!
  • Yeah What Mitch said
Who is outraged here ? Just Neal looks like.
  • "Militant Christians"
Hey EjIMBo, If you are an atheist or agnostic politician and you come out and admit you are, it's over for you because the "Militant Christians" will be all over you. I've had people say to me on lots of occasions God this or God that and I tell them I'm an atheist. Then I was told I was going to hell and how stupid I was. I myself would like to know what God's office looks like and what planet does he live on. Just to let most of you guys in on a little secret ... most Catholics up north are atheist, too. They just go through the motions of the ceremonies and stuff for the same reasons most Baptist do it down here ... because it looks good.
  • PEOPLE THAT WORRY ABOUT GAYS MUST BE PERFECT
Man wrote the bible. It is not the "word of God". To think that someone as great as your God would condemn someone for being gay when he supposedly has made so many of them seems stupid. And so is anyone that thinks that way. Just a word of advice from a straight guy that has his own imperfections to worry about. Worry about perfecting yourself and your life before you move into the territory of telling people what sexual preference is right for them. I promise you ... it will work out better for everyone involved. What 2 (or 3 as far as that goes) consenting adults do behind closed doors is none of your business. Get a life.
  • Gene Robinson...
I left the Episcopal Church when he was ordained a bishop. I thought he had retired and subsequently died. But, noooooooo.........
  • Outrage!
As a citizen, I do have more outrage over the Ms. Browner appointment than the inclusion of Vicki Gene Robinson (that is his real name).

As an Anglican, I am sorry that he selected VGR just to placate the LGBT crowd. The supposed elevation of VGR to Bishop was the "straw that broke the camels back" in the internal problems of The Episcopal Church.
  • Fred Phelps? Really?
Really? obviously isn't aware the example he cites is .... a liberal. An Al gore-supporting liberal.

Seriously. You've got to do better than Fred Phelps as your example.
  • for EjIMBo
    oh, that's easy. here's one:

    http://www.godhatesfags.com/

and no, it's not a joke. documentary about them here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSFrNOnvtls
  • How cynical can he get???
As a member of the Episcopal Church, I am well aware of Gene Robinson. He is, IMHO, just one in a long line of examples of why the mainline churches are dying. The churches are now more interested in being leaders of social change (read that Liberal change) than representing the Word of God. Robinson and his supporters are the prime cause of the current schism in the Episcopal Church.

That said, the real question is - how hard did Obama have to search to find a clergy member to placate the angry Gay community? And do you think he would have sought out Robinson if he didn't have to kowtow to this radical portion of his base?
  • Slight differences
Rick Warren is simply upholding the actual Word of God when he opposes heterophobes and their agenda, while Robinson is opposing the Word of God when he is supposed to be leading a flock of Christians.

Oh, and the nomination of an open socialist DOES hack me off even more than Robinson. I can have my own private relationship with God, but when the government is being run by those who oppose the very foundation of our nation, The Constitution, THAT I cannot stand.
  • "get over it"?
    Neal,
Your comment on this issues suggests that if one is concerned with morality that it somehow distracts them or detracts from their ability to be concerned about economic policy. If you will look around there are a lot more social conservatives fighting for economic freedom than there are libertarians. Do not misrepresent us.
  • For "really?"
Hey Really. Show me the "militant Christians" who show pure hatred the way the militant gays do? Where are the "Militant Christians" marching in the streets, deliberately flying in the face of decency?

    Where are "Militant Christians", period?
  • The End?
I'm convinced that we are witnessing the Beginning of the end of our once great nation.

It's quite sad when the minority in our country can bully their agenda to the front. Nevermind the fact that more than 75% of the country professes to be Christian. Here we have a case where 2% (or less) of the population would have been offended because an outspoken Christian pastor was going to pray for our new President and the country. So, that 2% moans and cries and we give in to them. Why? So, we can be "fair"! I say "BULL!" and Get over this whole "hate" thing. It's not about hating anything or anybody. It's about a belief that's ingrained in all of us, humans and even animals alike. It's about what well over 75% of this nation believe to be wrong, by nature and by the laws of God, but are afraid to say it.

Are there more serious issues with Obama and the choices he's making for his cabinet, sure. But, this issue points to the root of what's wrong with this once great nation. We cannot continue to allow the minority to dictate the direction we will follow. Admittedly, the majority may not always be right, but there are more of them and there voices should be heard too.
  • What outrage?
"Wait until you hear the outrage over this one."

Um, Neal? What outrage are you talking about?
  • Mitch, do you know how to read?
Seriously. You must never listen to the show, otherwise you'd know that Neal has never had a problem with someone being gay, and is telling those that DO to get over it. I'll bet you didn't do too well on the reading comprehension part of the SAT's
  • gays in military
As a libertarian, I support gay marriage and gay adoption. I am no homophobe. However, regarding openly gay soldiers serving in the military, where do they bathe?
  • for tadpole
most gays are not filled with the hate that is often displayed by militant Christians. see, that works both ways, doesn't it?
  • Outrage?
    Neal,
You appear to be the only one expressing outrage. Time to lose the fear of homophobic boogymen!
  • Most Christians are
not filled with the hate that is often displayed by militant gays. I expect a few comments, but seriously - why would there be outrage that a leftist asks an openly gay bishop to conduct a prayer?

That's like getting mad at a frog for jumping.
  • Get over it?
    Neal, Neal... Get over what?

Get over the fact that BHO has disgraced our country by selecting the poster boy for everything that's wrong with our country?

Get over the part about Robinson being a despicable human being who destroyed the lives of his wife and children so he could be openly "gay" and famous?

Or should we get over the way our country is being systematically overrun by America-hating, narcissistic, ***holes who want to force the entire country to accept their psychiatric disorders to make themselves *feel* better?
  • Re: Get Over It
    Neal,

In terms of politics, Obama can appoint whomever he likes to give whatever speech he likes. I meanwhile can continue to object to Gene Robinson's occupation of the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire. I do not do so out of hate, but because I earnestly desire the good in him. Part of the goodness which I long to see in him involves him repenting of his sinful behavior (as opposed to whatever his various inclinations are), and, failing to do that, to resign from his position. We all have our sins, secret and public, and we are bound in love to repent and desire the repentance of others. Because out of love, rather than hate, I desire the utmost good in others, I cannot "get over" the actions of Obama or Bp. Robinson.

Thank you, nevertheless, for your continued honesty and integrity on this show. :)
  • That's Our America Now
That's the America we've created... we ELECT a rabid Socialist with no experience or qualifications, then we get livid over who says a prayer at his inauguration because that person has a point of disagreement with our personal beliefs... ridiculous...

  • I have my own thoughts on the matter, but that's not my real point.

Isn't this essentially just another "present" vote? Hey Barack, at some point you're going to have to take a stand on some issue. When is that going to happen?
  • get over it
    Amen!
