What others are saying

  • Savings
    Hi Neal,
You failed to mention the all important personal savings. On average we have less than $50.00 in each of our savings plan.
Without savings we as a nation are unable to support innovation.
And innovation, as you know is what makes a country great.
The Chinese on average save 40% of their income.
Another thing that scares me is who the U.S. is borrowing money from. Basically it's two countries that want to see us buried. Who gave approval to borrow from these guys? Do not misunderstand me, we borrow from several countries, but those two stink.
    Many thanks,

  • The Ones In Power Are The Real Blame For All This Sh*t
After Hurricane Katrina we saw the effect of 40+ years of Democrat government in the New Orleans area. A lot of these people were totally dependant on government and what happened? They either died or complained the government didn't do enough. I thought to myself that maybe people will see the problems of being so government dependant and a new course of personal responsibility will sweep the country. I was wrong as could be. Instead the whole huricane gets blamed on George Bush. Evidence supports this Community Reinvestment Act started by "big hearted" Democrat presidents Carter and expanded by Clinton was the start of our current financial crisis by promoting paper-thin downpayments and pushing for ways to get lenders to give mortgage loans to first-time buyers with shaky financing and incomes. It’s clear now that the erosion of lending standards pushed prices up by increasing demand, and later led to waves of defaults by people who never should have bought a home in the first place. More evidence points to Banking Committe leaders Barney Frank and Chris Dodd said there was nothing wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This even after in 2003 when the Bush Administration recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac … the plan is an acknowledgement by the Administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac … is broken." But what happens? George Bush is blamed againand eventually we now have President Barrack Obama. Unbelievable! I am of the opinion that Republicans don't stand up for themselves very well nor do they stress the importance of their messages very forcefully. It all comes down to Democrats are just better at deflecting blame (or lying). Of course with the mostly liberal media, it is more difficult for Republicans to convey their messages. They better find a way or they will be out of the picture as our country goes down the tubes starting with this BS stimulus package.
  • Precisely
Say what you will, but I applaud these guys. This is exactly the kind of high-profile, in-your-face tactic required when dealing with liberals in a position of power. Granted they lack the capacity for rational thought, but they DO understand the pain of humiliation. They will never be capable of understand the technical details, but they WILL pay attention to the POTENTIAL of being completely humiliated for having voted for what will later be equated to the sinking of the Titanic.
  • So we think the politicians will base their decision on economics. Good luck.

Politicians don't make economic decisions, they make political decisions that have economic consequences.
  • Wicked
Wicked, I'm a libertarian too but geez, you are beating a dead horse. As long as we put forth LP ideals NOW, we can't keep whining about how they neglected us in the past.

    Worry about this instead:

  • Scrappy
When you say "democrats" I think you mean "government".

My question is; why the hell is Boortz acknowedging a libertarian think-tank like Cato now that we have a democrat president? Why not when we had a republican in office?
  • DEMOCRATS ... STOP SPENDING SO MUCH ... HA HA HA
There is no way you can brow beat Democrats into stop spending so much. American voters are going to get what they voted for ... more government programs created in the name of "caring".
