DEMOCRATS START WHINING ABOUT CUTTING TAXES

The second part of Obama's stimulus plan is supposed to be tax cuts. And when I say tax cuts what I really mean is Obama's version of tax cuts - which would be welfare checks. Now PEBO is running into opposition from his own party. This is because a lot of Democrat senators are grumbling that they believe tax cuts won't do much to stimulate the economy or create jobs. Why would they? They are Democrats who are in love with government. Tax cuts give money to the people, it empowers people .. it does not empower the Max Baucuses of Congress, who would get to decide how to spend stimulus money.

Just remember this: This is true for politicians for both sides of the aisle - but especially true of Democrats. When you win that election and go to Washington your immediate focus quickly changes from "serving" the people to making sure you don't lose this wonderful job with all of these privileges and perks. Do keep your job you immediately work on expanding and strengthening your power. Stimulus money for government to spend is power. Stimulus money for private citizens is not. This is all just that simple.

What others are saying

  • Tax Cuts ? Now ?
Can't see it. If anything, Obama is going to have to RAISE taxes in order to begin a recovery.
  • GEORGE WASHINGTON HAD IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
George Washington set the stage for correct terms of political office when he refused the "king-like" status after the Revolutionary War. He knew that true power corrupts. That's exactly why there should be strict term limits of 2 terms of 4 years for "all" state and federal offices. Who knows ... maybe less than that. But to get these morons to vote on it themselves is as ridiculous as them voting on their own pay raises. I even have a suggestion to save taxpayer's money in elections from these "sacred cow incumbents". Where an incumbent is within a "recount" margin of 1/2%, I think that the incumbent should lose. Why? Because I think that is a clear sign from the people they want a new guy (or gal)in there. I say this despite the fact I think Al Franken is an idiot. The reason I say this is because it seems we have not progressed far enough in this country where we can count ballots properly. Probably because of our pathetic government education these same incumbents are so damned determined is working so well for our children.
  • Stan
I'm not sure where Stan is coming from. Reagan lowered taxes. Bush Sr. raised them, thanks to his inability to reign in a Democratic congress. Clinton raised taxes. Bush Jr. lowered them.

And, Neal, could you do us all a favor. Where you have links for your bio and your commencement speech, could you also give links (as current as possible) to the facts that the government generated more revenue AFTER Bush's tax cuts AND that the percentage of total taxes paid by the rich went UP after those tax cuts, as well?

    Thanks.
  • Stan GayBull
    Stan,
While you're busy supporting the Socialist agenda and speaking out against the Republic, would you do us a favor and take a sip of some anti-freeze? It would help us all...
  • Stan how old are you?
Republicans haven't always increased taxes, just this current crop of worthlessness we have.

Get rid of them all, let's start over, term limits, elect people that can actually run a business and know how to read a balance sheet.
  • What both parties forget is...
...keeping taxes AND spending low is the *only* way it will work. Bush forgot that, and only had half the equation right - tax cuts. But tax cuts MUST BE COUPLED WITH low spending.

And an extra dose of pox on those who think taxing "the rich" and spending a trillion or so dollars, will fix what's wrong with this country.
  • Today's news
Neal, I just wanted to point out that it contradictory for you to state that Mr. Obama is so in favor of growing the government, and then in the next section of the nuze state that those in his party who oppose him, do so because they are in favor of growing government. I just want consistency man.
  • Just wondering...
Why is it that when Bush says, "lower taxes, increased pending" he's an idiot, but when Obama says it, he's a freakin' genius.
  • Thank you
Thank you Neal for always saying it is both sides that want more taxes. I love how conservatives always preach lower taxes even though republicans always raise them. OBVIOUSLY, nobody wants more taxes and everybody wants less. The fact of the matter is even politicians that promise lower taxes end up raising them.
